281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does bitcoin have value? on: February 22, 2018, 11:08:10 PM
I think that bitcoin is valuable because of its exceptional idea! Also important is the fact that only 21 million coins have been issued, which gives it even more value! Bitcoin will become really valuable, when everyone in the world will find everything measured in bitcoins!
282  Economy / Speculation / Re: Its too late to invest in Bitcoin! on: February 22, 2018, 11:00:56 PM
It's never too late to invest in bitcoin, because its price will only go up! You must understand for how long you plan to invest in this asset! In the long term, this asset will show very good growth and can reach a price of about $ 100,000
283  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin back below 6K on: February 22, 2018, 10:58:08 PM
Quite possibly this will happen, many factors can influence this. But there is no reason for panic yet. The psychological level is 5.000 strong and will not let bitcoin descend lower. In any case, it can be used as a very good chance to enter the market!
284  Economy / Speculation / Re: Invest in Bitcoin now or wait for another dip? on: February 22, 2018, 10:55:42 PM
Many say that now the price will start moving upwards, but I'm not so sure about it! You need to look at how long you are planning to invest, in the medium term, bitcoin can go into a sideways trend. But in the long run bitcoin will show very good growth!
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: February 22, 2018, 10:52:41 PM
To the title of the topic: Of course, bitcoin is able to make the banks disappear! After all, the idea of bitcoin is very strong, in fact, it is designed to exclude the intermediary (banks) in the transfer between people!
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin cannot replace currency in the world because price is not stable on: February 22, 2018, 10:50:06 PM
I do not agree with the topic name. I believe that the price is not stable, because now bitcoin is a coin for speculation. Unfortunately now no one perceives this asset as an idea, only as a goal to earn quickly!
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Minereum - First Self Mining Smart Contract - ARTEMINE ICO SOON on: August 22, 2017, 02:09:40 AM
Wow, a surprise to me when I wake up from sleep and see the price of MNE has increased ! I previously did not know about this token but see history from this token I was interested and I decided to buy 549 MNE at price 0.00041 btc a few days ago. I'm a lucky person Grin

With the announcement the DEV made, expect another easy X5
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Minereum - First Self Mining Smart Contract - ARTEMINE ICO SOON on: August 22, 2017, 12:20:44 AM
Great news DEV, nice way of doing an ICO IMHO. MNE is not dead with such an announcement. Great decision about ETH VS MNE buying price.  Cool

Thanks for the update about the monthly coin auction. That is a really good start for the first month if it could improve the life of 70+ orphans. I really hope the project will gain traction months after months and help more and more orphans.
290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I just got my bonus check! (alt coin investing) on: August 19, 2017, 02:13:39 AM
Like others said diversification is the safe thing to do. If it was my money, I would invest 1/3 BTC, 1/3 ETH, 1/3 ZEN.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Cash Sudden Rally > $500 on: August 19, 2017, 02:10:08 AM
Of course it's a pump and dump trap. Only good thing to do is sell and profit of free money, investing in BCH is not a sane thing to do IMO.
292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay - New Coin Launch - Official Thread on: August 18, 2017, 01:05:45 AM
Thanks a lot, and thanks to the others also.  This is a long road but I think once we have our slack team, we will have plenty of help in various areas.

One of my next priorities is to add an orphan subdomain for BiblePay with pages that exist with the ability to write letters to the active orphans we sponsor.  I just received a letter today from an orphan, and she said she was praying for me and my family.  I was thinking, this is one of the most underestimated functions (sort of like manning the twitter or facebook account), but, the most rewarding experience in the life of an orphan is the hope of receiving one of our letters.  I will also make an attempt to receive letters from the compassion API and import them back into biblepay (that may take a while).  I believe we can do the outgoing letters, based on looking at the interface.

So, one minor change to our flow, I was speaking to a director at compassion today about some things regarding sponsorships, and one warning she gave us is that its frowned upon to sponsor and dump a child.  I was explaining to her that we have a Group called BiblePay, and we intended on auto-sponsoring the longest waiting children, and if we could not afford to sponsor them the next month we would only sponsor as many as we could afford each month (I was thinking along the lines that our orphan foundation wallet bears $2000 one month, and $1000 the next month, IE a declining scenario).  She said it is highly recommended that we create a system with an affinity to keep paying the premiums for already sponsored children, as multiple issues happen when we drop them.  One, they are no longer the longest waiting child.  Two, it breaks their hearts.  Among other things.

So in light of this, Im going to program this in a way that the sponsorship occurs and allows for recurring charges per orphan ID, unless we run out of money for the last orphan IDs on the list, another words, the system will distribute the orphan disbursement allocations to Orphan IDs that exist first, before sponsoring new IDs, and, if we do have less capital month over month, the remaining orphans will be dropped.

She also explained that letters to the children *may* come from the wallet, as long as the sender is BiblePay.  So we will work on that behind the scenes to make that happen.

Hmm, it seems like it'd be inevitable that orphans would be dropped occasionally at that rate. Any month where less money is raised than the month before, someone would be cut.

Would it be possible to set up some sort of a buffer? Say, only 80% of the orphan foundation wallet is dumped every month, and the remaining 20% is carried over unless it's also required to be dumped to fund existing sponsorships? That'd give at least a little tolerance for normal market fluctuations.

Yes, a buffer is a good idea, we should think about that before next months liquidation.

We should have some type of report we can run before the 10th or so, so we can take a look at it.

All I have to say is keep up the good work and I really think it will go upward, so orphan being dumped will not occur I hope. But of course it is really wise to think IF it go down, what could be done. What about keeping a reserve like mentionned in a previous post.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Verge about to make a big run?? on: August 15, 2017, 07:00:42 PM
A funny thing here in bitcointalk is when a lot of negative talk about a coin occurs, many time is followed by a pump...

Maybe I am assessing this forum to high. But after my first 6 month here, I have a slight impression, that bad talk is spread totally wilful and well-directed to affect the market and the prices.
The ancient Romans asked:
Cui bono?
(For whose benefit?)
And this is what you should ask yourself by everything you read here.
 Wink

Yep and that is why the one that are smart enought can also make money (not just the whales). In other word, many time (not always 100%) do the opposite of the crowd for the  win.

295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $1000 to Buy Alts/ICO - What would you get? on: August 15, 2017, 01:53:38 AM
I wouldn't touch ICO with a ten foot pole, too much ICO out there. Invest in your choice in top 10. My personal feeling would be ETH, I would not be surprised to see it above 400-500$ before the end of 2017.
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Bitcoin continuos uptrend kill off the Alt Market? on: August 14, 2017, 12:21:23 AM
Ok when u guys predict bitcoin price will stabilise/correct?

Good question I wish I have the answer, but:

When BTC was under 3000, it was always crashing when it was to go over 3000. With the recent rise, I was under the impression that 4000 would be hard to pass too, but it doesn't seem this time. So my bet would be 5000??? if not, then it's 10 000!

No blocks in 24 hours, is it normal?

Let's do some maths:

How much block / daY? : (1440 mins/day) / (7mins/blocks) = approx 205 blocks/day

Your hasrate% vs network hashrate: (281 015 hash/s) / (12 961 000 hash/s)=  approx 2%

So you should get 2% of block = 4 blocks / day in average

If it persist, maybe it is poor connection to the internet?

What will be interesting to watch is when the airdrop will be finished, what kind of dump will occur? But as I stated earlier, the distribution method is really really interesting, and at the same time, it give publicity to the project.
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Bitcoin continuos uptrend kill off the Alt Market? on: August 13, 2017, 01:34:23 PM
ALTS will regain an uptrend when BTC stabilise. It is almost always like that. People sell alts in FOMO in BTC, but then when the rise stop, they will rebuy alts when they are seeing better rise opportunity.
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STOP TRADING-START INVESTING on: August 13, 2017, 01:31:34 PM
Investment has a very big risk, if we choose the wrong project then we lose. Different from trading, if we are good at seeing the market and good predictions then we will win.
But all there are advantages and disadvantages of each

Trading is easy when market is in bullish mode, but in last 2 months alts get kicked in the butt pretty hard, and trading wasn't easy anymore. Crypto is unpredictable so that is why you have a good idea, invest in project you have good feelings on, and then be patient and HODL then a long time and you will be VERY happy.
