281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | No Premine! on: March 30, 2014, 12:38:25 PM
i don`t quite familiar with this POS stuff for most of the coins i'm holding atm haven`t apply POS....i get confuse for the informations that...we can`t encrypt our wallet if we want it for minting?
youre correct. wallet has to open(unencrypted) for minting to work
ty for the confirm..so..
if we can`t encrypt our wallet(due to want it minting)..how do we secure our wallet then?

You can encrypt your wallet, then use the unlock button to unlock the wallet when you want to mint your coins.

It only has to be unlocked while your coins are minting, you can leave it encrypted and locked afterwards. The time you have to leave it unlocked varies because your wallet might mint coins quickly, or take a while.

If a lot of other people are minting at the same time you might get orphan coins minted which do not count as real coins. However, your wallet will eventually mint real coins for you.

if i encrypt my wallet lets say for a month then i unlock it someday...do i get the minting coins for that 30days period of time too?

That's probably roughly how it works. There is usually a maximum amount to time you can leave your wallet encrypted and still receive all possible minted coins.

For mint coin you have to unlock your wallet every 20 days to get all possible coins minted. If you leave it longer than that you start to lose out on some coins you could have minted.

I'm not sure if community coin works the same, but it is probably similar.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cannot withdraw BTC from CryptoRush on: March 30, 2014, 11:51:21 AM
Now I have a good reason to call Crypto Rush THIEVES !

I managed to withdraw only a part of my BTC from their shithole!
I had 0.026BTC but I received only.... 0.00070565 BTC
My balance is now 0 ...

Me too. My 0.82BTC by selling other altcoins stunk .

I suffered too much.

Another crap platform is NXT-E which held my 50k Faircoin deposit and wanted to eat them.

The NXT-E website currently says

We have suspended the Faircoin market and withdraws. Please wait till the problem solves.

I think faircoin has just had a hard fork or someting and everyone needs to download and install the new wallet. Maybe you will get a chance to withdraw your faircoins after the hard fork is over and they are sure everyone else is using the new wallet. Cryptsy did that to me a few times. Both a market and my coins disappeared, but they reappeared after a coin's hard fork.

When poloniex got hacked they could not afford to immediately pay everyone back. They decided to take a percentage of all customers bitcoins from their accounts. However, they announced their plan before doing it, and they are slowly paying everyone back from the exchange's profits.

It sounds very dodgy if cryptorush is deducting bitcoins from people's accounts without explaining why. I'm not surprised people are buying alts just to get their money out of the exchange.
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Great news for the following alt-coins on: March 30, 2014, 11:26:32 AM
This looks good, when people can buy normal everyday goods with crypto it's a sign that it will soon become mainstream.

How do the prices work? Do they rapidly fluctuate with the price of bitcoin, or are they fairly stable?

Unless they rapidly fluctuate the shop might end out undercharging and losing profits, or overcharging, depending on if bitcoin has rapidly gained or lost value.
286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] THE OFFICIAL COLOSSUSCOIN REPAIR THREAD (UPDATED MARCH 22ND) on: March 30, 2014, 11:17:12 AM
The reason I stopped the IPO suddenly was because Sudo sent a test amount to the Cryptsy wallet, they would show and up on the blockchain UT t not on cryptsy. I sent Col coins from Cryptsy to coinedup, they did not arrive. I some coins from coinedup to Cryptsy (have a bit there too), they confirmed but did not arrive.

I would suggest not making Col transfers to or from Cryptsy right now testing first.

Hi,

I have my colossus coins on coinedup. Would it be best to just leave them there until the IPO is over?

I am hoping coinedup will take care of the swap for me if I do not withdraw my coins.

I'm not sure if I should install the current wallet and transfer them to that, then swap them over to the new wallet when it is released.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Primecoin (XPM), DVC, etc has no Wow and little hope == Bottom in site? on: March 30, 2014, 10:57:31 AM
The buying starts when buyers offer enough to match the lowest sell offers. The more they offer the more of the sell offers on the books will get bought up. The way to catch the rise is to have your sell offers already in place; the way to catch the bottom is to spread buy offers all the way down to far below the lowest bottom you think it could reach, even down to the lowest offer the platform lets you place even if possible, so that no matter how low it goes you were there ready to buy at the bottom, as well as having already bought just above that in case that was the bottom and so on.

No rush no hurry, it is all just orders put on the books long ago ready to profit from any rise or fall in price...

If you wait until the fluctuation already happened you end up selling low and buying high instead of buying low and selling high.

-MarkM-

I have seen coin buy orders for 1 sat that I assumed would never be filled because a coin was doing so well. However, when crashes happened the 1 sat orders were filled. Your strategy certainly seems to work and I am considering giving it a go.
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Primecoin (XPM), DVC, etc has no Wow and little hope == Bottom in site? on: March 30, 2014, 10:47:36 AM
Primecoin will recover when the Bear cycle is over.
Being on BTC-e is a big advantage, so XPM is far from dead.

I agree- we're in a Bear market and people are consolidating into Fiat, BTC or into a few of the bigger stronger coins. In a Bull market people will look to diversify again and alts will benefit. The market is still finding a floor, and it may go on a little while yet- if we have a movement up in the market I don't think it will be gradual- it will probably be another strong Bull run from some kind of big BTC news/adoptment. I'm still accumulating BTC and a number of alts at the moment- XPM included.

That sounds right to me. Everyone is just waiting for the low point and everyone will start buying when it becomes obvious things are rising. Nobody is too sure how low things will go at the moment, so most people are either selling or holding.

290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gameover for a few coins this week it seems. on: March 30, 2014, 10:34:40 AM

Further, to hack a 3-4Gh/s network, you need to know a pool with over 2Gh/s, which I would like to see anyone have before ASIC comes out. (that's 2000 x R9 290x at max config)
If you want to worry about Worldcoin being hacked, you have a LOT MORE to worry before that I think.

When do you think the new ASIC's will come out and how high a hashrate do you think one person could get with a lot of them?

When pools started destroying coins Kimoto invented his gravity well to neutralize the threat. Is it possible someone could invent something to neutralize the threats posed by the new ASIC's?

I know Kimoto's gravity well is not perfect and people on this forum are talking about possible attacks they can make on coins using it, but it's a start at defense.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next dogecoin rise? on: March 30, 2014, 10:19:47 AM
Coins often adapt to take account of new technology. A lot of coins added kimoto's gravity well and x11 to fight back. Maybe someone will invent some new technology to deal with the incoming asics. If someone invents a solution to the problem for one coin, all the other coins will probably adopt it.

Looks like Nyancoin is going to adopt X11 w/POS.

Loads of coin's devs are talking about copying darkcoin's ideas, but darkcoin devs invented them. It just gives darkcoin more publicity.

Poloniex for life!

this wa smy first exchange and i never quit it.

I'm telling you, the staff is the best. Angela, Tristan and Busoni actually care about their customers.

I have no affiliation with them, but I have used every exchange out there, I've had to open support tickets with everyone of them too, and Poloniex is the ONLY one that I recommend after experiencing their Support.

They are gradually paying people back the money that was stolen when they got hacked out of their own exchange fees. Other exchanges have just closed and ripped their customers off. It's one of the best exchanges.

And their not even asking people to pây their votes to get in.

Hats off to them for that.

Cryptsy and mintpal have a nice little earner from selling votes, but they have to list some shit coins if someone pays enough.
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next dogecoin rise? on: March 30, 2014, 01:35:36 AM
That's good advice. I'm following this strategy in the future.

Seemed like every time there is a large sell wall people freak and sell.  Buy at prices that are above support...and once you get to the (big) sell wall...you sell!  I profited (albeit a minor amount) by doing this on Cryptsy today.

It's a suprise that people will put up and/or add to a huge sell wall.  If they were smart they wouldn't do that since it effectively slows (or stops) the upward progress of buying.  More people would make profits if they realized that (I think).
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: March 30, 2014, 01:30:41 AM
I am an enthusiastic and great admirer of Black Coin, and  I do not have the slightest doubt that this coin will be great in a near future. I had now all my BTC converted in Blackcoin. I started to buy my coins in 1500 sats, and I have bought coins in 8800, 7300, 6800, and still keep buying, I never sold a dime, I'm just saving it for the future. I'm also mining through the "Blackcoin pool". I have just added 3 mining rig, to the pool, I have total 9Mh /s (scrypt).

The biggest problem is that people do not have patience, unfortunately 90% of people in the world has no ability to save money, and It is really good for those who can do it. With respect to these speculators, I say:, " they are making a little money in the short term, but the holders will make great fortunes in the long term".

This coin has the potential to more than $ 2.00, but the people want to be rich tomorrow, I'm not worried about the price of Blackcoin, this is the best cryptocurrency to me, I trust in Blackcoin.

Sorry for my bad english, I am from Brazil.

It's a great long term investment. I have read a lot of posts from day traders who sold coins for a small anoint of profit which are now worth a fortune. Black coin will be worth a fortune in the future.

sold at 137, $900 profit.

Lucky you for selling at the exact high spot. Tell me, how did you arrive at this sell point? Did you have an order already to go or did you somehow know it wasn't going higher, pump/dump?

I was going through the sell orders, I saw that some guy put 60 BTC at 138, so I knew 137 would be the end Cheesy

I learned something from you tonight thanks. Hopefully I will not be making that mistake again.

I guess EXE did not make it on Cryptsy this round. EXE is 4th on the list.

BigVern @cryptsy
The following markets have been added:  BC/BTC, SPA/BTC, BAT/BTC

You can buy votes off them for bitcoins. I bet some dev just paid a load of money to get their coin on there. It does not mean anyone will buy it though.
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN PoS+ PoW] eXocoin [EXO] - gen 2.0 - developed from scratch! Free Give-Away on: March 30, 2014, 01:00:27 AM
now that you have officially stated the conditions for the second stage of the ipo, let me be the first one to ask critical questions about your proceeding.

note that i am asking this qestions under the asumption that the upper cap of the 230 btc for the second stage will be reached, but as you obviously assume that yourselves according to the follwoing statement my questions have a right to exist.

Is it possible that an early bird adapter gets less EXO for 1 btc then a second-stage adapter [...].
[...] it is very unlikely that this will be really the case. We are expecting an steady increase in attention and investments over the time till launch.

why do you think that an early bird investor deserves a whopping 67% more eXo for his investment compared to a potential investor of the 2nd stage?

even if you consider a 67% advanatage for early birds to be fair, why do you insist on the upper cap for the second stage instead of using the formula
Code:
(1.67 * early bird investment + second stage investment)/(1.67 * all early bird investments + all second stage investments) * 42000000,
which gets rid of the upper cap, but sill yields the same 67% advantage for early birds?

Sounds fair to me. Otherwise, what was the point of being an early bird?

Early bird's take more risk than late adopters, so they should get a bigger share.
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *23 Exchanges *34 Merchants on: March 30, 2014, 12:57:53 AM
We also have a brand new auction site: Mintbay!

http://mintbay.net/

This looks promising ... MintBay

Mintbay looks awesome! Another great achievement dev you are the soul of this coin

Mintbay has been developped by a community member. Sorry for the confusion.

MintBay is a great idea. Like ebay but using mint as currency. It should be very popular.
