Evan Duffield, I want to point out some flaws in the user flows of Darkcoin RC5 client. Please note that I work with user interfaces on a daily basis.
Current: 1) User can enable or disable anonimization, disabled by default. 2) If enabled, every time you start the client, it starts anomimizing any non-anonimized funds automatically.
Issues with Current: 1) It takes some effort to figure out how to enable anonimzation (Darksend). It's quite hidden. 2) When enabled, the client simply starts anonimizing all your funds automatically, without user request. To me, as a user, this feels very intrusive. What if I started the client to quickly check my funds, not to have my funds anonimized. The task is to start the client, not to start the client and anonimize funds at the same time. This is a very poor user experience. Usually in user flow design, flows are split per task type. In Darkcoin, tasks that are totally different are merged as one. Things even become worse if my wallet has a password: I get the password prompt shortly after enabling the client. My first reaction is, why the hell does the password prompt show, I didn't do anything? It looks like a bug. At the very least, the password prompt should explain why it is showing automatically.
Proposed: The anonimization process absolutely needs to be user initiated, it should never happen automatically (although there could be advanced options for that). I'd like to compare the Darkcoin client to virus scanning software, since I feel that both software types share similarities in terms of task architecture.
Does virus scanning software start scanning your computer once you start the virus scanner? No, it doesn't. Why not? Because that would be intrusive. The user requests to start the program, not to perform any type of action in addition. Instead, virus scanning software simply has a big green 'Quick Scan' button in their home screen. The Darkcoin client should have the equivalent of this: A big green 'Anonimize Funds' button (do not call it "Darksend" please as this name is misleading). Clicking it would start the anonimizing process. If your wallet has a password, then you would see a prompt at this stage to enter your password. 'Anonimize Funds' button would be disabled if all your funds have already been anonimized.
Evan Duffield, can I get your opinion on this? I feel this would be a considerable improvement to RC5 as current implementation is very likely to scare off new users since the anonimization user flow is far from optimal at the moment..
interesting opinion coinzx3 maybe good to also post this on darkcointalk?

Today's update from Evan I wanted to put this out there to get the communities take on what Darkcoin should be in the future. I think there's a fork is the road for Darkcoin. I have a few different ideas for what masternodes could do. A few months ago when I came up with the idea of paying Masternodes I was thinking they could pretty much decentralize everything on the internet. That being said, it looks like other coins are already focusing on this. As a result I don't believe we should do what others are doing. The thing I think we've really succeeded at is building an anonymity layer that's robust enough to provide nearly total anonymity while also not bloating the blockchain. I don't think there's much competition on that front and we have the brand for that service. So we need to choose one of these options: 1.) We provide services and try to compete with centralized and next-gen decentralized providers. I think this hurts the anonymity brand by diluting what we're doing. 2.) We focus on providing a host of anonymity services using the Darksend implementation. This would mean my next project would be to rewrite electrum to use the masternodes to anonymize funds, then an android wallet that can use Darksend, then iPhone, etc. The foundation would also be tasked with trying to get businesses to accept Darkcoin and expand the user base. I think I want to go with #2. It means that ALL users will have an out-of-the-box nearly perfect anonymous payment solution, which could be a big deal in the near term future. Also, going with #2 would mean we abandon providing Darktor/Iris and similar services. There has been overwhelming support from the community about going with #2! So I think that is probably the direction we are taking. But chime in and give your opinion here: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/darkcoin-fork-in-the-road.2244/The nr 1 point is exactly what i was very worried about in my post a few pages back: Darknet is not a feature we need for Darkcoin, developers are doing the wrong thing, they should work more on the coin instead of creating a better Tor. Darknet will only hurt us more then it would help, scammers that can hide on it,child porn, gun sellers, drug sellers etc,it's going to stain te legit coin in a very bad way!! they should brand Darkcoin as a private coin like paying in cash, bitcoin in 2014 is moving away out of this negative things and then the developers are putting Darcoin in it's place, not good. i dont want my Darkcoins to get a bad name but it will, the big public will only speak of the coin criminals use,how is that going to help us? Criminals use the coin for doing criminal transactions you put yourself at risk when owning a masternode or even use the coin,i dont want the NSA or any goverment take this coin down or investor dont invest because they get stained with the stamp CRIMINAL on it. I think Darkcoin is a great coin that keeps your spending private like cash does, but in these days when regulation is forming that will help crypto currency it's a very big risk of damaging this coin when you facilitate all the bad things the regulators dont want. The regulation is needed so bussines can be run in the same legal matter as normal company's so big money investors will know there money is safe and can not be stolen and also consumers know they cant be ripped off. The crypto industry can not grow large like we all want if no one can be put to court when stealing like what happend @ MTgox. I am very sceptic about darknet in a way it's to close linked to Darkcoin now, they should finish RC5,help merchants adapoting it,do the marketing,Darknet should be a new bussines not related Darkcoin, get it's own brand, website and marketing. Definitely going with number two! I've been hyping up DarkTor for nearly 2 weeks. Fingers are bleeding from all the typing. Just as I've managed to get everyone here on board..... Right. That's it. I'm off to CroakCoin. edit. And VeriRollBackCoin too lol +101

glad the focus is away from darktor/masternet etc, that would be just so far away in the future, devote as much time as possible to the core function, which is the best privacy a cryptocoin could provide.

Is dark coin a good coin of not or is a Scam coin ? Thanks for any answers
if this is a scam it's a real good one!

I think that rather than disabling Darksend by default, upon the first start up of a wallet, it should prompt you to choose whether you want Darksend enabled. Also, if there are going to be fees, the wallet should be able to give an estimate for your balance. Furthermore, asking a user how many rounds they want is too confusing for most people. Better to have preset values that correspond to a simple description. 2 rounds - anonymous, 4 Rounds - increased anonymity, 8 rounds - maximum anonymity.
Agree and I think DRKLord will take that into the wallets design. But technically its up and running and that is a hell of an achievement! Something more clear like : 1 round - normal people 2 rounds - dealers 4 rounds - African dictators 8 rounds - FIFA or Olympic comitees members Sorry, I really couldn't resist lol needed that
