I am really tired of all these scamcoins which were just created in the hope to get some quick (fiat) $$$. All I see are clones, practically no real innovations, ideologies, experiments or progres. In my eyes, the only altcoins which have some sort of foundation, because they try something new are:
- Namecoin (Offers a Domain Name System - thats really new and worth something) - Devcoin (Has the idea of creating a way to fund open source programmers) - Freicoin (Tries to change the economy by creating a demurrage currency, has a strong and publicly exposed dev group) - Ripple (Totally new concept, potential and venture capital from Google, but not a real altcoin)
Maybe you can add Litecoin to that list, as it becomes de facto established, but I still see LTC more or less as a clone of BTC.
All the other coins are SHITCOINS in my eyes, made to play the hot potato game and to rip off other greedy people. Don't get me wrong. I think it is important to experiment with new altcoins, to create new ones, to test every variety of configs and algorithms and see how it works. So people can learn. For example to see that CNC's block target is far to short to be a useful coin. And maybe it is even necessary to beginn to trade these experimental coins so it becomes clear how and if they can be used, which advantages they may have or not. BUT, I see many guys creating quick and dirty altcoins, just to start a new wave of greed and a new ponzi scheme (like richcoin, sexcoin and all that shit). And these people and their coins suck so bad.
So I started my ingore program. Every forum user who announces such a shitcoin, which Xk premined coins and no new use will be ignored by myself...
What do you think about this?

Ripple is great. I don't understand how you fear it. It's not a danger for BTC and it has mane kewl features...

Did you ever stop to think about if it was the other way around? Could it possibly be that interest follows price?
I bet it's both, like a self fullfilling prophecy.
|
|
|
ok Bear boy
bear or not.. BTC prices always rose and declined with the public interest, at least until now. For now, the interest is getting weaker...

The current BTC hype is over. Google searches after bitcoin and related terms are declining slowly during the last weeks, since we had the BTC peak. See the Google Search chart here (the hype chart): Google search trends after 'bitcoin', 'bitcoins' and 'mtgox'So, let's wait for the next hype wave... but this could take some weeks, months, maybe years...
