paying fee's to make my coins anon is absurd considering the eliteist masternode boys club already siphons off miner profits to do it.

The market is reacting to bad ideas and features that do not work after all this time

/flame on, truth hurts

Those fees are paid to the miners. Plus it forces all those transactions to be immediately included in blocks. Try again.

I think market is waiting for clear statement: "RC4 is working without any problem" ...after that price will go up Smiley People are afraid of new failure after failed forks.

RC4 was no fork, so not much space for failure Smiley

I know but people compare this with bugs in RC4.

Only remaining issue as I see it is Darksend rounds>1 will never finish anonimzation. Change that number to 1 in the settings and RC4 works like a charm.

Poor reason not to invest. Those people will be kicking themselves later.

Its highly likely now we'll see 0.006 and below, hopefully this will still be above dogecoins marketcap...
Not if Kristov releases something. Fingers crossed.

Whether it is Kritov's review or some other event, nothing is required to "save" DRK because it doesn't need saving.

Once all the tech is released and mostly bug free (which is NOT the case right now) there will be a big push for adoption. Right now the only people who know about RC4 are supporters who have already bought in and traders/whales who the vast majority of are greedy cancers and are likely manipulating things to a certain extent.

For the marketcap to grow new people are needed -- and to get new people the coin will have to be completed and then marketed. I can't imagine DRK is still at this low price level 6 months or 1 year from now... which is why I hold.

I personally think it will take less time than that. Indicators of adoption take dark from theoretical to real. Also if things start being priced in DRK value is established off the trading floor.

Exchanges as weird things as they establish  the value of coins in terms of another coin and thereby by proxy or directly in fiat which is kind of defeating the point of cryptocurrencies.

Ignoring dollar value.. How many drk would you hand over for your favourite beer?

It may be quicker. The key for me is how fast the tech gets sorted out. If that only takes 1-2 months then we will see adoption quicker.

As for the question, it is hard to answer because it is tricky to say how much I would pay without considering the current or even my personal expected fiat value in the future since there aren't really any references (i.e. other everyday items priced in DRK).  Forced to answer I would say a 1 DRK or so but I really don't know.

It's a tough question isn't it? I chose a beer because it's a good way to judge the cost of living in a country. How much does a standard beer cost in a bar.
If you look at crypto as a unit of barter not a fiat value amalgam it's starts becoming how difficult was the unit of barter to acquire. By that logic people who acquired early would actually price things lower than people who have had to mine longer/payed a higher price for their drk. I'd say 0.2 for a standard bottled beer. 0.5 for a draft of real beer (ale).

Now let's say alcohol is prohibited where you live. How much is that beer worth in DRK?

I'm in Japan (though not Japanese) and to get a pint of good imported ale in a bar costs the equivalent of $9. Furthermore, I did get into DRK fairly early which may be why I am willing to part with more than you (though not $9 worth Cheesy ). Of course if alcohol was prohibited out here then a beer would be worth 0 DRK (though if you are the type to challenge "the man" then you might pay quite a lot of DRK for smuggled in beer).

In short you are right, the more DRK gets adopted the less the market and the associated traders and whales matter. I think that is a ways off (nobody really even prices anything in BTC without considering the fiat equalivent yet), but it is an interesting discussion.

However, even without adoption to that level, just having a coin that is verifiably anonymous AND easy to use will result in a significant increase in value.  Right now the anon is working but buggy and the wallet is not yet easy to use or easy to understand.

With v29 can anybody who couldn't get more than one round of Darksend now get multiple rounds? Or has that not been fixed yet?

Hello,
I installed the new version portfolio v0.10.12.27-g5417347-beta, but when I run the following message appears: "This operation requires a password to unlock your wallet."
Please help for a moment why this message out and why he wants to unlock it?
Thank you!

Darksend transactions are used to automatically anonymize your coins. As this involves sending and receiving you must unlock your wallet. It will lock again once finished (this may an hour or so based on network situation, mixing rounds, and the the number of coins you have).

Note, there is a small transaction fee required of 0.001 per mixing round. For more information read the release notes: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc4-launch.2033/

wasted over 1 month's time, and the wallet can't show much improve!
when open the wallet first time after update,my wallet disappear 0.001*2,
so I disabled the darksend!
can tell us,it's a bug or it's a donate? Angry Angry Angry

Please read the release notes. https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc4-launch.2033/

It is a transaction fee paid to the miners to process Darksend transactions(denomination). No different than transaction fees in bitcoin.

Overall I think the launch went well. Most people have had their coins denominated and to date all major "DRK  are gone" problems have been resolved. At this point there are 2 issues I see that need to be addressed.

1) Darksend rounds > 1 never finishes denomination for a number of users (myself included)
2) Handful of users aren't seeing their transactions confirmed and be included in the blockchain -- this results in the coins getting stuck.

I expect Evan to take care of these in the next day or two.

I'm going to be working on #2. Can people send me the TXID's that are unconfirmed, their debug.log and a screenshot of the transactions tab? evan@darkcoin.io

Thanks.

About 1 though, is that not a real issue and just about MNs not being updated or what?

In my case, I left my client for about 8 hours, got lots of denomination fees, but never saw more than 1 round in coin control. I wasn't the only one with the issue either...

make a backup of your wallet.dat

delete everything in the folder where it was

run latest qt

wait for new chain

close client when new chain full

move backup wallet over the one that the qt just created

launch qt with --salvagewallet option

just doing the --salvagewallet option won't do it. It's probably something in chainstate that needs killed, but it's easier to just wipe the whole folder and MAKE SURE YOUR BACKUP IS NOT IN THERE WHEN YOU WIPE IT!

I have a little bit different issue and it didn't help. My denominate transaction got stuck for 6 hours and --salvagewallet option works strangely. It returns only 500 drk, not my total balance(~623.6). What do?

And here is the result of --salvagewallet

Can somebody help me with my problem?

Hope you get this sorted.

This fixed my issue as well. Thanks again.

Good to here this got fixed.  Still no idea why it happened in the first place?
There were several incidences of wallet corruption on testnet, mainly at the time of wallet upgrades. It happened to me once, and I ran salvagewallet to recover.

Hmmm, I dont remember it being widespread, but if so then this needs to be looked at ASAP.  Even if you get the coins back it is not good for DRK, and then you have rare cases like Camo when you really may not get them back (unrecoverable wallet.dat corruption).

So long as there is no forking (which there isn't) you are right that coins can be lost. Evan did say something about not selecting "no preference" when sending....

Wow, he said that? Maybe next time he should post that on the wallet download page so people don't lose a grand like I may have.

I think JGCMiner meant to say "So long as there is no forking (which there isn't) you are right that coins CAN'T be lost" to be in agreeance. JGC, am I correct?

Yes, I meant to say "no preference" can cause problems, but not coins cannot be lost.  Camo has already gotten his back so that is proof.

Yes but can't he told us what he (or Tifozi) did?
Someone with the same problem is waiting the answer..

I edited my post. Seems they went to IRC, but I agree the solution should be posted here as well.

Also, it would be nice to see the solution and correct usage behavior post here so that in the future we can warn future users about how to avoid this issue.

Maybe. There are no denominate/change addresses for them tho... Where'd they go? Can't come back, no addresses.

Coins can't be lost in a transaction... it's either in your side, or MPs side. If they haven't gone through the blockchain to MP, then they are at your side but the wallet acts like it sent them (while it actually has the money).

A double spend is a possibility.

A possibility that doubles the number of coins, not evaporates them.

True.  Embarrassed

Seems like an issue with the wallet as the transaction time is off.  So long as there is no forking (which there isn't) you are right that coins can be lost. Evan did say something about not selecting "no preference" when sending....

For both of you, why is the timestamp in the wallet off?  The most recent transaction is BEFORE the second most recent.
Yeah! I know! Retroactively, I say!
You may have accidentally double spent. You can do erase transaction command.

erasetransaction <txid>

Warning: use at your own risk. I have not tried this myself.

A double spend is a possibility.

I have no idea. I fired it up and sent.

Did you send anonymous funds or normal funds or a mix?

Sorry to say it, but, this ain't workin'...
Huh.  What is wrong? That looks fine to me.
1) I had darksend disabled. Why is it doing a really half-assed job of denominating when it's OFF.
2) Check the address that the 73xx DRK was sent to. It's not on the blockchain. Just gone...

Did those coins already start anonymizing before you turned Darksend off?  What address is that?  Do those coins show up as unconfirmed in some wallet? Maybe they are not included in a block yet?
