What would be the price that would make NLG non-attractive to CM?
Around 400-450 should be fine to make it less attractive and have less fluctuations in block times PROVIDED dedicated hashrate remain the same. 4-5 months ago it would of been possible to keep the price that low but now with so many buyers people will buy up coins at those bargain prices if anyone had to try force the market down. Guldencoin is at a place where a dump would reverse just as much as a pump. This is good! |

I have some bad news, I have confirmed with a miner that used to use CM until end of last week that ROI was down when CM was not hitting Guldencoin. So Guldencoin is what make or break CM now.
Maybe suggestion of reducing block time might work but CM will always be there to get easy blocks. I don't think much can be done unless we become next Doge or litecoin so more efforts to keep going mainstream. Then a lot of dedicated miners. Another option is merged mining like Dogecoin has?
Terks CM is the matriarch of switch pool despite what he says when his pool was not hitting the chain for 2 days the other switch pools had lot less effect. This morning is back to 50% and needs NLG to survive for his business. It quite a sad situation.
@ny2cafuse - What do you think about Guldencoin getting listed on coinwarz and even cryptsy? Have more multipools in compeition with CM? Would that make things worse off as bigger spikes in hash rate or would it also maybe make it less profitable for some of these jump pools to carry on hitting our chain because there is more competiion for the easy blocks. We might be Terks cash cow because he literally has no competition with other multipools but I also worry that too many jump pools coming in at one time to get the easy blocks might spike the difficulty. What do you and other miners think about giving CM some competition? I personally think it's a bad idea to get listed on coinwarz or cryptsy! That will only make things worse! Better yet, I would like it even more if we got delisted from all exchanges (bittrex too). Let me explain why. If we are not listed on an automated exchange, multipools like CM have nowhere to dump their coins anymore. This creates an opportunity to get a real exchange going that is dedicated to fair trade of NLG. Lets not forget, we want NLG to be used for payments, not for speculation, we have the other Gulden for that... I agree with the above. No more btc based exchanges, cryptsy isn't known as the place coins go to die for nothing. |

Seems CM will be mining 110-115k NLG/day. 12 blocks in 2.5 hours. .8 btc in buy support needed to maintain 650 satoshi, daily.
I expect an ave price of about 550 sat in the short term, it's not just .8btc from him, will also be traders and other miners and also people buying from merchants. From my estimates the coin is bringing in over 1btc a day in new buys. The user base is growing constantly. |

@Fuse, I guess not many people have seen it then. [edit] I'm a bit surprised that all this "profit" for miners on CM was only from NLG.  [/edit] Well the +- 40% price increase in Guldencoin recently shows the damage CM was doing, I think NLG was their profit and CM used other coins that were breaking even or just below the profit line to supplement when the hard blocks were being mined for NLG. Added to this fact that Guldencoin is the truth, it has real buyers that want to have coins. NLG only had one major pump(for about a day it was above 1200 and peaked around 1900) and the price is stable currently at about 1/3 of the peak price and we about 10 times higher then the bottom price with a ever growing supply. Compare this to coins like CANN that was pumped on some news over 13 times the current price it's trading at and this is far from the worst case scenerio as CANN is still going. |

Always look at http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ for the pure currency rankings. Guldencoin is a lot better then a lot of those coins in the top 40 so once more people start to realize how good this coin is we should be top 30 by end of March. |

From my time in Cryptos I don't think even 10% of currencies ever delivered on their IPOs, massive respect to the Guldencoin team for pushing this one through... I can't believe it myself. Kudos! BOOM!!!!!! It is official, NLG is officially on the Apple Store  . Best news of the year so far! BAM!!!  fantastisch!! Guldencoin has one of the best communities out there, trying to buy a bunch @ 450 satoshi, but the price doesn't seem to get there anymore  I couldn't agree more, this is the reason I only invest in NLG, BTC and LTC although LTC hasn't been doing much lately. Guldencoin certainly deserves MUCH more credit then it currently has but IT WILL get more attention with time. |

EDIT - forgot about my radical proposal...
I would fork NLG to a 75sec block target time with a 500NLG reward that retargets every block using a custom Digishield implemtation. This would reduce any 'stuck network' time by 50%, increase the number of diff increments per 24hrs by 100%, reduce the number of blocks that Clever can mint per 24hrs by 80%, and make NLG a much better network for micro-transactions. This would make NLG the premier alt-coin.
That is what I would do with NLG
The reduction of block times by 50% and halving the amount of NLG mined would be a great change if it is possible, this change will also extend the coins mining life cycle as the block halving would come faster. Right now the total coins will be mined out under 15 years, this will extend it over 40 years. This algorithm problem has been hanging over the coins head since September and would of killed most coins by now, so imagine what a good and smooth algorithm would do, I think top 20 coin by middle of next year as the elephant in the room would be finally dealt with. |

On the mining front it looks like clevermining is now under 50% at these prices. Also buyers will come back once the simulator and algorithm change takes place, it looks as though the market is starting to feel this is only going to take place next year. I also cannot with a good conscience vote for /GeertJohan until the simulator has been completed so hopefully that happens this month. |

I have great respect for the dev team and how they have built up this coin. I often tell people, and I've said in this thread as well, that they are the only team I've dealt so far with that does not over-promise or under-deliver.
That being said, when the simulator is done, I really hope the dev team will be ready to take community recommendations and move on an algo. I've pushed from the beginning to move to DIGI. Terk reaffirmed my thoughts with his comments in that PM... obviously he thinks DIGI will knock his pool out of the chain. I was swayed by one of my team members that BTM was the way to go, but we found out shortly there-after that BTM was borked, and it failed miserably. Custom algos are great and all, but I know that DIGI works, and my team has had some good initial findings with our testnet.
However, what worries me is the fact that clever is still mining NLG, even when it can't possibly be profitable. The storage/Bittrex address shows that. So why continue to mine, other than to hurt the coin on an insta-dump later on? My main concern is that regardless of the effectiveness of whatever algo we chose, Terk will use his enormous pool of hashrate to continue to rape NLG for the hell of it. I'm starting to think regardless of what he mines, he can absorb a considerable amount of profit loss to "play" with coins. NLG is just a bug under his shoe.
One thing we could do that would cut clever out of the picture is ask Bittrex to suspend trading. If that's where the coins are in fact ending up, maybe just pull the rug out from under him. Or ask the Bittrex owner to remove the API calls for NLG. Without a way to gauge exact profitability, it would be a solid argument to his miners that he is in fact using their hashes to ruin a coin, rather than making him money.
And yes, until we hear from Terk, it is all just speculation. But I'd seriously doubt he'd say anything when he knows he's the reason for 3 months worth of community angst. How could he seriously explain why he's doing what he's doing... "oh, I just didn't know"... yeah, ok.

I would not worry if anyone dumps this coin the price will go back to around 400 very quickly. I worked out awhile back that when NLG did rise from around 75sat to a spike at 1900sat it rose with real demand to around 480sat before speculation and PnDs came to the party. So I honestly believe any dump will be short lived with investors hoping it happens getting in at low prices of 200sat. The main reason to set lower buy orders is for desperate or impatient holders of guldencoin to dump out. You guys would honestly commit suicide if you saw how slow updates are for other coins even in the top 30 which mainly maintain value because of very low coin supply but will never get anywhere because not enough users are able to invest in the coins at good prices. This is why Guldencoin has so much support because it's cheap to get your hands on a lot of coins and therefore brings about more people wanting to help grow the currency. I also believe the block reward halving every 4 years is really good as it gives cheap coins for a longer period of time, this is exactly how it was for bitcoin. So buy now , help spread the word and in 4 years time with constant updates you will all be smiling. |

Damn, clevermining hitting 75% at this moment. It looks like they try to mine as much Guldencoins as they can before the algorithm update kicks in. Or it's because of the other pools not adding as much hashing power as they used to do..
Instead of these parasites supporting coins they mine it's all about getting btc because in there opinion nothing else matters. Most of the people mining at Clevermining have never heard of Guldencoin. My pool is running at the same hashrate as it has been. A hashrate that typically nets 20-25% of the coins in a day. 90% of that is Biomike's paid hashes to help the network. It's not a lull in normal mining, it's an increase on clever's end. Yet no one wanted to at least try to IP ban them, regardless of whether they could eventually get past it or not. It would have at least sent a message. Hell, it might have given us a couple days without them on the chain, and maybe even just made it not worthwhile to come back. Maybe the miners would like to know that instead of mining for profit, like Terk says he is obligated to do for his miners, he's using the pool to destroy a legitimate coin. Additionally, the coins he's mining are sitting in a storage wallet, and they aren't being sold. Essentially he's using his miners' paid hashrate for his agenda against this coin. When is this going to stop?-Fuse The way I see things is there is 2 problems. 1. We need a algorithm change to prevent long and short block resolve times. This is coming from the dev team albeit very slowly but can understand the wait to use the simulator for testing so we can make the next change a good one. 2. Clevermining could potentially still control a lot of the hash but the rapeage should be a lot less then it is now with the algo change. So we need more dedicated miners. |

Guldencoin, the coin that just keeps on giving but this comes with a warning.
We need to keep the prices low until the algorithm change takes place otherwise clevermining will start dominating the network again, prices don't need to be pushed up because guldencoin value is increasing due to bitcoin prices rising again. I would suggest the person who put the sell wall at 666 to lower it to 575 to keep things stable, always when the price goes up I get scared because you never know if that value can hold if our algorithm can be abused by multipools. Keep Guldencoin trading in the 400s and let bitcoin increase the coins fiat value. It's a win for everyone.
