But, unlike multi-pool, Koi has made many blocks in the past, ALL within reasonable probability.

And he just solved another  Cheesy

Today marks 3 years of Bitminter !

A big thank you to all the current and former users. I appreciate your support. It's been a great 3 years. Smiley

It's also nice to see that some who joined during the first few weeks are still mining here.

Over these 3 years we've had 271725 users mining with us. But there is room for more, so tell your friends!

How many blocks have been found on BitMinter in those 3 years?

Hi.

I would like to know which pool do you recommend:

Bitminter or Slush Pool(bitcoin.cz) ??

Just because i didnt try minining on bitminter, just to know.

thanks

BitMinter is the only place I mine for BTCs.

You can't go wrong with the good Doctor H.   Grin

While I claim to be completely ignorant about the inter workings of BitCoin, I have been in software development for 35 years. With all of this discussion about "bad actors", isn't there a way a pool operator can test a miner's hardware/software by sending a "test" packet with a known result? The miner wouldn't know when a test could take place, the pool operator could send one whenever he/she wanted. This would be along the lines of a random "drug test" used by sport teams. The pool operator could use this type of test to identify potential "bad actors" and track how many tests fail over a given period of time or number of tests. I know that miners with multiple hardware miners can mine under a single miner name, the pool operator can send a number of tests in proportion to the hashing power of the miner. While this isn't 100% fool proof, I think it would be a good starting point. If a pool operator advertises that this type of testing takes place on the pool, it might be enough to scare away the "bad actors", just like putting a sign in front of a house stating that the house is protected by an alarm.

Just my 2 cents....

<snip>Given how loudly he claimed his faith in probability, his departure is strange.

No, not really:

Hey, don't worry bro, because I've already made the decision to diversify our hashrate.  You'll see it dropping soon.  There's really no reason for me to bother trying to convince fucktards like you of anything.

From what he posted, I didn't expect diversify to mean Bitminer = 0%. That's like infinite diversity Smiley

I don't see multipool anywhere on the top 50 of Bitminter.

Based on a post he put on his web site I would say we will not see him back on BitMinter any time soon.

"Jun 20 3:29 AM I've made the decision to move us off bitminter due to its toxic community. I will be splitting our hash between several major pools in an attempt to smooth out our variance."
289  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1450 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees +MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: June 19, 2014, 11:07:27 PM
Hello everybody

Im surprised that the recent discussion about multipool and the possibility of a share witholding attack
is fought like a battle without real clue.

I start mining with a block erupter in November 2013 and increased hash power with 4 more block erupters, a 8 GH Jalapeno and recently with a KNC Jupiter. All this equipment I bought used.

Since November I didnt solve a block with my small hash power, but earned about 1.2 BTC on Bitminter.

I have not the knowledge and technical abilities to check my miners if they are doing things like that or not.

But I think that this witholding shares attacks are performed fully unintentional because they are creating a loose lossse situation for the miner, the pool operator and the attacker.

So lets go back to the pollite and helpfull features of this forum and dont blame people for completely unproven and unlikely things.

lets hope for another good run of easy find blocks and if you really seeing in every co miner a competitor instead of a colleague you are ready for a solo mining career.

Keep the forum clean of this unproven conspiracy theories or found your own bitcoin sect.

I like bitminter and its pool operator particular for its helpfull attitude towards even the strangest questions. As long as it is newbie friendly it will attract new people. Keep it like this.
Calm Down
Joerg

Finally, a post with some common sense.  Smiley

Any word on what is causing the outage?

pool down for me too...I'm on my backup pool atm

Yup, it looks like it's down

I can't connect to my backup either  Shocked
292  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees +MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: June 10, 2014, 02:28:55 AM
$14,700 for the miner and $1,280 for the pool, that seems like a steep fee. 8.635% fee?

I'll have to look into how much work this would be to support. I'm unsure if there is actually much interest, though, and probably only for hardware which have very low hashrate.

1 coin = 640 usd

24 coins = 15360  usd

btc pool

nmc would be 2 coin fee since it is 50 coins.

Like I said I don't know if the math works but  lot of people would toss something at it.

the new r-box is a 30-32gh unit  not too good for a real miner but really good for a solo pool.

Think about it 70 usd to buy one.   1 kwatt a day to run it.  in my State of NJ about 14 cents a day.

I would toss one at it just for kicks.  I have about 1.8th of hashpower I would not mind a bit of fun. running 32gh at a solo pool run by someone I trust.

I have more than 500GH/s in Chili miners sitting in a box that would be fun to throw at a solo pool. This sound interesting. I hope Doc considers doing something like this.

Doc,

Is there an easy way to see where I stand compared to the other miners in the pool? I'm only running about 900GH/s, so there is no way I'll make the top 50.

Thanks
294  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitminter client (Windows/Linux/Mac) on: March 31, 2014, 08:08:59 PM
this makes me sad now. I had much better earnings when i was able to use the software provided dependably. this is why i keep asking for it to return. But dr says it should work fine. it must be something on my end causeing issues.

i already obtained 1.4mhs. cpu with your software. it's not just the software but system configurations (unlocking your os) and hardware potential.

i've already withdrawn,,,for last year...i was hopeing to enable better earnings this year. I guess you can pm me suggestions for other cpu miners. google hasn't been helpful. i end up finding virueses and trojans instead.
How on earth are you making money CPU mining bitcoin now? That hasn't been profitable in years. Even with free electricity you can only earn about 1 cent per month with a modern CPU.

CPU mining for Bitcoin is dead.

I'm running ~360GH/s of ASIC miners, and will be lucky to mine 1BTC per month at the current difficulty.
295  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitminter client (Windows/Linux/Mac) on: March 27, 2014, 07:19:19 PM
Does bitminter support butterfly labs asics.  Does it support all butterfly labs products i know it does the 5ghs version what about the 50ghs.

I have a dozen Chili miners running with no problems since 1.5.0 came out
296  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter client (Win/Linux/Mac, BFL ASIC, Block Erupter USB) on: March 24, 2014, 09:16:59 PM
Bitminter client v1.5.0 is out.

New:
  • Add support for Antminer U1/U2, with overclocking and click-to-flash-LED
  • Rewritten Red/Blue Fury support - should work much better now
  • Bugfix: Chili ASIC would fail on first try and you'd need to start the device twice
  • Bugfix: Fixed a memory leak that could happen when mining on BFL ASICs - would lead to sluggishness and eventually the client locking up completely
  • Bugfix: Fixed a bug where scanning for devices could stop working until you restarted the client
  • Bugfix: workaround for Java 6/7 bug that could cause security- or nullpointer-exception after the program had been running for a while was no longer working with the latest Java 7 releases
  • Display approximate earnings per month rather than per day (per day was showing zero for slow miners, plus newbies were expecting to get that exact amount per day)

Try it now:

If you have a problem with 1.5.0 you can still load 1.4.3 from here: https://bitminter.com/client/1.4.3/bitminter.jnlp

Note: if you restart the client and still see 1.4.3 it's because Cloudflare's (our content delivery network) web interface is down and I can't flush their cache. Try again in a little while and you should see 1.5.0.

Thanks for all of the hard work fixing these issues. I'm running a dozen Chili's, and they kept hanging, or not even start. I'm running 1.5.0 and all is good.

Thanks again
