281  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 33 blocks solved! on: April 12, 2015, 11:37:51 PM
Itod... Much more than I want to admit too.

Mikestang... It was one of the c1's that found it. In fact, the day before it found it I had that one mining to a different address. So glad I put it back to that one Smiley

And thanks to everyone else for the congrats, and most importantly ck for making this pool available!
282  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 33 blocks solved! on: April 12, 2015, 06:26:57 PM

Every time I wanted to quit my pursuit to solomine a block I would look at the photo above my miners with a quoute from Eleanor Roosevelt that reads "THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN THE BEAUTY OF THEIR DREAMS."

I have been solo-mining for much of 2014 on my own node with 230GH/s and with no luck.

In December 2014 I picked up three antminer s1's and two antminer c1's but could not figure out how to solo-mine on my own node with the antminer c1's so I have been exclusively solo-mining between three different solo-mining pools with those miners, although I shut off a few of the s1's about a month ago due to the heat.

Also last month, I rented 1.5PH's for a few hours with no luck either, and also 120THs for about a day and a half.

At times you just want to throw in the towel and give up, And then when you least expect it life may just throw you a bone.

Although I am still in the hole a little bit, this has almost brought me back to even, and I must say that the sense of accomplishment was worth it. I can now say that I have found a block!

So don't give up, and don't throw your life savings renting hashpower, because in this game there are no guarantees and 2TH's can win just the same as 1.5PH

Good luck to you all, may the next block be yours!

Although best share doesn't matter when solo mining its still fun to see how close I come.

I wonder if other people with 1th miners move to other pools thinking that since the best share always reports 0 that its not working correctly.

Or as another option, if you do restart the pool again maybe it would be possible to set the default difficulty to 1023?
When I eventually restart the pool it will show best share as well in the user/worker stats.

Yay! So excited, can hardly wait for the next restart. I will definitely be tipping if im lucky enough to find a block.

EDIT: Thank you! Now I can see my best shares on my C1's, hashing at 2.4th and hoping for some extreme luck coming this way.

Feature request - Vardiff, where user optionaly sets desired share difficulty via password numeric value. In example below, share difficulty is set to 4 in cgminer.conf file.

{
"url" : "stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333",
"user" : "1PYbF46Bit5VhBAWN6AfbboernJtentVJ7",
"pass" : "4"
}
Ckpool already supports --suggest-diff which is in cgminer and can be set as "suggest-diff" in the cgminer conf file too.

Any idea how to set difficulty with antminer C1?

I just couldn't stand not seeing what my best share was since the difficulty never changed from 1024 so no best shares are ever reported and moved them to another pool. Tried kanos pool too, I recieved payouts so I know its working but again the difficulty never changed from 1024 which means no best shares reported again.

Although best share doesn't matter when solo mining its still fun to see how close I come.

i guess there is one feature everyone would want:
your "best share" added to stats to see how close you have been finding a block
Yes Please! That would greatly help those of us whose miners do not report the best share Smiley

or those that rent miners and have no way of knowing how close they came.
286  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin and free testnet mining! on: December 26, 2014, 10:56:49 PM
I've tried appending +1050 after my wallet address so that the difficulty is not a power of 2, but the pool shows up as dead when I try that.

I really like this pool better than the other solo mining pool for two reasons.

1) the payout is generally better since the block finder gets to keep the transaction fees
2) the payout is paid directly to the block finder

I have two antminer s1's and two antminer c1's pointed at this pool, but the c1's do not report a best share since the difficulty never adjusts from 1024

What bothers me the most is that the s1's difficulty have adjusted to 154 on one of them and 204 on the other, yet the c1's difficulty has never changed from the default 1024 difficulty.

I just want to know for sure that I am not wasting my time with the c1's

How can I set difficulty for my antminer C1? It is just really frustrating that the difficulty never changes from 1024 so no best shares are ever shown.

Best share still shows up with 1024 diff, or any diff.
from an earlier post on this thread, ckcolivias stated

That's just an S1 driver design issue. It happens when the diff is exactly a power of two and is harmless and cosmetic only but of course doesn't fix your issue.

in response to this question

 Hoping you can help. I have a few workers on your pool. The
Antminer s1's are having no issues. However the Antminer C1's do no report "best share"

When I use them on another solo mining pool they report the best share however on your pool they do not.

Personally I would rather use your pool as I like it better, but I would like to be able to see my best shares so I can know how close I come to finding a block. A big fat 0 under best share is kinda disheartening even though as far as I can tell it is reporting shares.

Thank you for answering the question. Just to make sure I understand. Even though it says "best share" =0
My miner is still submitting shares? http://solo.ckpool.org/users/1HUs9na6NgY85DXxi4dXLGQu9ZDBayMde3
I should be around 2.4TH so as long as my reported speed by looking at the link above is close, then everything is working correctly other than I have no idea what my best share is?

Im renting 13.5 TH from leaserig.net and mining at bitsolo, hoping to get lucky Smiley
292  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Looking to lease small hashrate miners for p2pool mining on: August 28, 2014, 09:22:11 PM
speculating
I could understand if you were paying 105% PPEE BTC because you wanted to rent people's hash power to mine other more profitable sha256 alt coins or something, but I'm having trouble thinking of any way this makes sense? Over time on average you'd be losing money on all hash power you rented.

Speculating is a correct assumption in part, but I was also wanting to promote my new p2pool node.
At the time I was charging a fee, however I am no longer charging a fee to mine on this node, and
I am now merge mining namecoin to hopefully offset costs rather than charging a fee.

Wish this rig wasn't using LRP so I could lease it for use on P2Pool
294  Economy / Reputation / Re: Tigggger's Reputation Thread on: June 25, 2014, 12:51:01 AM
I would love to lease all of your rigs right now if they weren't on LRP

LRP is not compatible with p2pool Sad

I would love to lease your rig for use on p2pool but Lrp will not work for it. If you can get rid of Lrp I'd lease it now.

Hi,

Under Proxy Pools:

p2poolserver.com fees have been lowered from 0.5% to 0%
297  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Holy crap I found a block! on: May 09, 2014, 04:34:03 AM
I have two bfl units, one is a 30 gh that I have been trying to find a block solo mining since December 2013 and 523 million is the highest it has found, my other 230 gh unit I mine on p2pool with.

Couldn't stomach solo mining with both of them as I'd rather have a little of something than a lot of nothing.

Thanks for sharing, gives me renewed hope that it still is possible!
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1,000,000 bits = 1 bitcoin. Future-proofing Bitcoin for common usage? VOTE on: May 03, 2014, 03:33:44 AM
With the block rewards diminishing as more blocks are discovered, over time miners will be forced to raise fees for their services.

If 1,000,000 bits = 1 bitcoin, then wouldn't the lowest amount miners could charge for their services be 1%
299  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [185 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: May 02, 2014, 03:09:27 AM

Because anyone can join p2pool, all nodes connect to each other

You don't say....... Roll Eyes

Anyone can mine on stratum too - does that mean encryption is pointless there as well?

No because there is a trust relationship between the miner and the pool. There is no trust relationship between nodes.

It seems like it could be of use for miners using a public node.

That's what I said several posts back.

Oops, my bad, been alot of posts today, thought I was up to date  Undecided

I see it now   Roll Eyes
