281  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: April 19, 2024, 05:31:14 AM
NFL experts in this thread, how can we make money from this? Please share your best bets heheheheh.

Bet on the Chiefs.  Cheesy

Man I really tried to give the whole UFL thing a go but the games are just at highly inconvenient times and without recognizing any of the players, I just haven't managed to get into it yet. To its credit, its a lot more like the NFL than I had imagined; none of that wacky XFL stuff. Just a few new rules to move the game along faster & reduce chances of injury. Still better than college tho, IMO.
282  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈 The United Football League (UFL) 2024 Thread 🏈 on: April 19, 2024, 01:35:17 AM

  • Houston Roughnecks   0–3

Anyone else's brain always make this team the Rednecks?

Well they are in Houston. That probably biases your brain.

Still weird to me that they would decide to leave out, oh, just the entire Rocky Mountains and west coast from the league. Maybe it makes it easier on their travel budget. Maybe they'll increase the number of teams next year? I suppose this is just the trial year to see if they can make money at all.
283  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈 The United Football League (UFL) 2024 Thread 🏈 on: April 18, 2024, 07:13:14 AM
Here's a breakdown of the current league standings:

USFL Conference

  • Birmingham Stallions   3–0
  • Michigan Panthers   2–1
  • Memphis Showboats   1–2
  • Houston Roughnecks   0–3

XFL Conference

  • St. Louis Battlehawks   2–1
  • San Antonio Brahmas   2–1
  • DC Defenders   2–1
  • Arlington Renegades   0–3

Still 5 more weeks of play. TBH I've been too busy to really follow it, but part of me really wants to get into it, to somehow make the playoffs exciting, and the final game exciting. That would be a sign of success in my book. Then only a few more months after that before NFL can start again...

That is basically how any "currency" works.... you trade one thing for another... and with Fiat currencies it is the worthless piece of "paper" with a government signature on it or a digital entry on a Bank database or a digital token on a Blockchain.

I'd even be so bold as to suggest that acting as a currency is a use case, and a pretty important one at that. For me, there's a few roadblocks from making it a major global currency:

1) Ease of use
2) Transaction fees
3) Volatility

Perhaps with time all of these things will improve, but I gotta admit, it was a recent bummer waiting one day too long the other day before cashing out BTC to pay for rent and waking up to a -10%.

But in technical terms, it does exactly what its supposed to do with marked consistency. That is a sign of strength of the fundamental building blocks of a stateless digital currency, which is also a use case.

Exciting ShitcoinDAO News!

The DAO has now launched. We have 10 verified members thus far out of 38 invitations sent to qualifying holders. Ideally I'd like to have 20 members before we begin the voting part, but we may just have to settle for 15. That is still more than half of the qualifying holders, so therefore that must mean something positive in DAO terms.

Follow the latest shitty news & updates as they occur in real time on our official Twitter Page.

"It's gonna take more work for this to happen, which sucks, because I hate working," remarked Shitcoin CEO Turd Ferguson. "It's a community fuckin' thing, but how can it be a community when you only have 10 fuckin' members," he questioned, before coming to his own conclusion: "That's not a community, its two less than a jury."

Shitcoin CEO Turd Ferguson

Ferguson went on to explain that he hopes more of the invitees, who recently received a special subasset with instructions on how to join the DAO viewable in the holder's Dogewallet, will soon come to their senses and help realize the full memetic power of the world's first ShitcoinDAO.

288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Debunking the Myth of Bitcoin's Use Case on: April 17, 2024, 01:16:12 AM
Not used as a currency, but traded as a currency.

There's literally no difference between "trading" bitcoin for a new TV or "trading" dollars for a new TV. Your argument (which has been wholly disproved six was from Sunday in this thread already) has now been diminished to a matter of meaningless semantic differences.

So basically, when you say that Bitcoin is "used as a currency" you're suggesting that Bitcoin is used as jewellery or for satisfying debt owed to FED, which is a complete nonsense.

You're right, that is complete nonsense, and it has nothing to do with what I was saying at all.

Bitcoin cannot be used for anything. It can only be traded.

Simply repeating your initial thesis ad nauseum does not make it true. People are out there using bitcoin for several different reasons on a daily basis, without your knowledge or permission. They will continue to do so, regardless of and contrary to your personal beliefs.
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Debunking the Myth of Bitcoin's Use Case on: April 16, 2024, 02:43:14 AM
The real remaining question that got me curious is what is your goal?

YouTube views, presumably.

Well it worked because it was a good exercise to remember wherein the primary value of bitcoin lies, which is the fact that it is actually used as a currency, as per the creator's intentions. Sure FOMO pumps and pure market manipulation can be fun but the adoption of bitcoin managed to get where it is today not just because of its usability but the brilliance of its underlying technology.

He's on my ignore list already, which usually isn't a good sign of being a quality poster. OP abandoned his topic the same day he created it. I guess because it failed to earn Merit.

Seems like he abandoned the idea of trying to use the account altogether as he hasn't posted in 5 days. There's a large chance they are part of a multi-tentacled account farm -- their style of posting definitely looks familiar. He didn't even get any feedback yet: maybe he's already looking for a re-sale, lol.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BEL] Bells - Fast and fun! - Scrypt - Random Block Rewards - No Premine on: April 15, 2024, 08:15:55 AM
If someone had just asked me I would have been glad to offer the last snapshot of the real original chain which is from 2015!!!

LOL. Hey you should re-launch it as "the real Bells". There'd probably be some interest in it. Of course you'd have to do some marketing on Twitter and what not. Then of course there'd need to be an explorer made for it. I wonder what would happen if you launched the old wallet with your version of the chain. Would be an interesting social experiment.

It's not surprising. Anyway, his post on this thread was deleted by moderator. You and other reader can check it on https://ninjastic.space/post/63930017.

I think he's big mad because his accounts keep getting banned... He should learn instead its better to just not break the rules.

It is easy to connect the accounts between a trail of merits; here's how I found a new one:

293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Debunking the Myth of Bitcoin's Use Case on: April 11, 2024, 06:31:53 PM
Paying, buying, selling, transferring, exchanging... All that means trading Bitcoin. It means that Bitcoin can be exchanged among market participants, that it has a 'trade case'. But no one who buys it can use it for something. That means that Bitcoin lacks a use case.

The "trading" is the use case because that is the use case of currency, which Bitcoin is. "No one who buys it can use it for something"... that makes no sense at all because it can be used as a currency by non-market participants. Like I said, I don't even use an exchange anymore. You're being ridiculously hard headed for the sake of defending an easily debunkable thesis.

Guess if you're right, the price of BTC should be dropping to zero any moment now.

294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Debunking the Myth of Bitcoin's Use Case on: April 11, 2024, 07:47:07 AM
OK, so you're telling me all the times I ever got paid in Bitcoin for services/products, that wasn't a use?

All the times I ever used Bitcoin to purchase any sort of physical or digital item, that also wasn't a use?

Seems like the person who wrote the script for this video has extremely limited hands-on experience with Bitcoin. I don't even have an account on a single exchange anymore.

His remaining 4 posts are mostly AI generated as well, but the 1st two have enough hand-written gibberish in them to make them fail the AI test.

Post #1:

It is true that people have the right to protect themselves if they feel threatened. On the other hand, you acknowledge that gun ownership is a distinct issue (which I believe is also true) with its own set of difficulties and implications. Yeah, these concerns can be tough to resolve, but there is still a need to try to separate them in order to have effective conversations.

In my honest opinion, I believe it is possible to understand the need of self-defense while simultaneously acknowledging the dangers of unregulated having a gun. On one hand, we have the right to defend ourselves against damage, which includes the right to use force if needed. On the other hand, we have a responsibility to keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who could use them to hurt others. But now the problem is to find a way to balance these two objectives without intruding on people's rights or putting them in danger.

I believe that focusing on education and training for gun ownership could be a viable option. For example, we may require gun owners to complete a safety course and pass a background check before purchasing a gun. We could also establish a mandatory system of licensing and registration to track who possesses guns and ensure that they are used responsibly. This allows for a balance between respecting people's rights to self-defense and protecting the public from damage.

And another thing is that, it's very possible that if people rely on guns too much, it can generate some sort of fear or mistrust, where they start feeling like they need to protect themselves at all costs, even when it hasn't really gotten to such extent.

Greetings and welcome to the forum! I, too, am a new member here, but I have an extensive knowledge of web3 development and I would be happy to share with you. I believe I can provide some helpful suggestions on where to find resources for security audits to guarantee your smart contract is secure.

When it comes to free security audits for your smart contract, there are numerous options available. One smart place to begin is to look for open source security audit programs, such as the well-known OpenZeppelin Open Source Audit Program, that would be a pretty good starting point.
Also, there are organizations that provide free or inexpensive audits for open source projects, such as the Ethereum Foundation and the Polkadot Web3 Foundation.

Keep in mind that these organizations have different eligibility standards, so you should visit their websites for more information. It's worth emphasizing, as I'm sure you're aware, that a free security audt may not be as comprehensive as a professional audit. However, it can still be a useful tool for finding any weaknesses or vulnerabilities in your smart contract, which can be critical in ensuring the project's integrity and safety.

Ha. Accounts that are dumb enough to include text like that should be banned on the spot.

To help speed things up, he's even been plagiarizing since his first post:

297  Economy / Reputation / Re: If you were a campaign manager would you select these members for campaigns? on: April 10, 2024, 01:48:42 AM
It's a shame. There are already too many spammers/shitposters in some sections like the Gambling one but not only, posting random off-topic, nonsense, low value or irrelevant content, or just repeating what they've read in the previous pages of the thread from other posters. So the forum doesn't need users posting AI generated posts on top of that. In my opinion, campaigns enrolling or maintaining such spammers should be banned or restricted to a very limited number of participants. Otherwise campaign managers accepting this shouldn't be allowed to manage a campaign here anymore, at least.

I just can't believe how low the standards are for getting into a decent-paying campaign these days. It seems like a lot of campaigns are simply in the business of generating spam.

The Gambling section is nearly unreadable. Its 90% text-spun news bytes about cricket and soccer -- nobody is saying anything interesting. They are just regurgitating something they read online and presenting it in a way that isn't quite plagiarism. A LOT of it is AI generated -- I think most of the unreported/undetected AI posts are in the Gambling section. Who bothers to read these posts except for other Gambling board spammers? Is it really cost effective for campaigns?

But the solution for me is easy: just don't read those topics. I really only read and participate in a handful of topics in the Gambling section: those where I am joined by high-quality posters who actually know what TF they're talking about, or if they don't, they can admit it, and at least articulate themselves using original thought.
298  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: (Ordinals) BRC-20 needs to be removed on: April 10, 2024, 01:41:33 AM
Anyways, its all good for normal bitcoin users, and even not so no normal bitcoin users themselves, like me, who have used Counterparty to make non-standard transactions for nearly a decade now and can see myself doing the same 10 years from now.
what type of non-standard transactions if you don't mind me asking. 10 years is a long time !

Oh, I didn't see this question the first time around. In 10 days, it will mark the 10th anniversary of my account on the forum, and in about 10 weeks it will mark the first time I made a non-standard Bitcoin transaction, which was the creation of a Counterparty token (actually I had probably made trades on the Counterparty DEX even before that, but anyway).

Counterparty uses mainly OP_RETURN to store its data which is readable only by an external protocol (akin to Ordinals, except much more developed, secure, and blockchain space-friendly in every way imaginable). Some larger Counterparty transactions use multisig outputs, which are actually spendable.
299  Other / Meta / Re: What is the policy regarding AI generated images on the forum? on: April 10, 2024, 01:35:26 AM
Meh. People post images unaccredited here all the time. Its never been a big deal, unless you are say taking somebody's infographic and then telling everyone its your own. Posting memes, stock images, whatever, should be no big deal, unless you are specifically taking credit for something that's not yours.

Like for instance, if I was to say "I drew this image by hand. Its a forum mod getting big mad about someone posting AI images on the forum"

then that wouldn't be good, because I didn't actually draw it. But if you want to use AI images for any other purpose, I think its fine, and the results are often even funny. It actually makes me laugh when people get mad at use of AI images on the forum.

User: tyz

They are not the worst spammer on the forum, a great amount of their posts are still genuine, however it seems they have not learned from their previous offenses. In 2019, this user was permanently banned for plagiarism. After submitting an appeal, the ban was changed to 60 days and 1 year signature ban.

This user's posts have always struck me as suspiciously bad; I wouldn't be surprised at all if they are doing a combination of plagiarism and AI. Let's add a few more posts for the record:

Post #1:

Such texts exists a lot in particular forums about gambling. Losing a significant amount of money through gambling and then discouraging others from engaging in it is quite common. It's understandable that the person would want to share their story as a cautionary tale, hoping to prevent others from making the same mistakes they did. Their intention to spare others from the pain and loss they experienced is commendable. It's important for people to be aware of the potential risks associated with gambling, especially when substantial amounts of money are involved.

Don't think it is so easy! The relationship between economic boom and the standard of living of average income earners is a complex and multifaceted issue. The notion that the good life enjoyed by the rich does not necessarily reflect the overall economic well-being of a country is a valid point. If the privileges of economic growth are only enjoyed by a small elite, it is unlikely that the growth will be sustainable . This is because economic growth should ideally lead to an increase in the standard of living for the majority of the population, not just a select few.

Well, governments are rightfully concerned about irregularities and illegal money transfers, prompting the need for necessary measures. While crypto casinos offer faster transactions and global accessibility compared to fiat casinos, the anonymity they provide can be a double-edged sword.
As they transition towards regulation, the focus should be on maintaining security and fairness for users, while also ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations. The evolution of crypto casinos will require a delicate balance between innovation and accountability to create a safer and more transparent gambling environment.
