Legal Conflicts on Medical Marijuana Ensnare Hundreds as Courts Debate a New Provision

"Mr. Lynch was convicted of multiple felonies under federal law for selling marijuana. He is one of hundreds of defendants and prisoners caught in the stark conflict between federal law — which puts marijuana in the same class as heroin, with no exception for medical sales — and many states’ decisions to allow medical uses." --NYTimes

!!!CONSTANT REMINDER!!

Have you encrypted your wallets?

DO IT!

+many

Thanks for the timely reminder, security is always extremely important.

You can protect yourselves even further by using a dedicated Linux USB flash drive. A downloadable image with pre-installed CannabisCoin wallet software and usage tutorial is available here. Booting into a clean, dedicated system is one of the safer options available to store and transfer your coins. Remember to keep multiple copies of your encrypted wallet.dat file.

Tutorials are available for compiling your own CannabisCoin wallet on Ubuntu and Debian 7 too.

What is the best pool to mine CANN from?

Are they all the same or is there one that is better than the rest?

Im new to mining and would like to know which pool I should start mining with. Thanks.

Cheaper to just buy.

Ok... What if I pay somebody else to mine for me? Still not worth it?

Hi Joe, welcome to CannabisCoin and the Yes We CANN community.

Your economics depend on how much you pay for power and the hash rate you can generate for that cost. At this stage people are still selling for what I consider ridiculously low prices and unless you have a lot of hash power for little cost then buying the coins direct is probably the cheapest option for now.

There are other considerations of course. You may want to help secure the network (very civic minded of you Wink). You may also be looking for the experience in preparation for when mining returns rise - for that to occur the exchange price rise has to be greater than the mining subsidy halving (approximately every 46 days) and with crops expected to hit the market that is virtually a given. Of course more people will want a piece of that action so mining difficulty will rise proportionately.

You can purchase hash rate from one of the various bundling sites, that is quite reasonably priced - just point it at one of the listed pools and start collecting coins. Bear in mind that the total number of coins generated per day is now down to ~13,500 (seconds per day / 42 second block time * 6.5625 coins/block) and that will halve again in the middle of May.

Best of luck and once again, welcome.

You forgot about something. This time will be no more miners and they dump.Last x day was posible to dump because at that time my rigs produced huge free coins .Aprox 7 k a day .Today my rigs produce only 380 coins a day what is nothing compare to  7k.I'm lucky that I got over 100k at 0.00001080  few weeks ago  .Anyway mining will be gone and without miners  dump, price have only one way  up and up with a little dip for acumulate

Definitely a possibility.

There's another one - people have had the best part of 6 months to accumulate at about 1,000 sat and quite a few have been waiting impatiently for 4/20. A lot of the coin supply is available for profit taking without miners dumping cheaply acquired coins.

Going to be interesting to see which way it goes.

Then there's the possible complications of CANNdy release, which would likely push prices still higher and kill a portion of the quick profit-taking sales.

Interesting times Smiley

Hello,

Why Cann is growing in price because of the event 20/4? what will they be talking about?

Do you think as it happened in the past as soon its 20/4 then there will be a big dump? it happens all the time...the news  that something is coming make the coin go up in price an once you reach that x day then the big dump....what do you think?

Thanks

Depends on the news that might be coming out in that timeframe.

I think it will keep rising until 20/4 , if there are no significant news by then the price will probably sloowly start falling again.

Agreed.

At the moment everyone is assuming there will be something 4/20 because 420 is associated with marijuana and it is CannabisCoin's birthday.

I am not aware of any event announcement, people are only guessing. I suspect you will see all cannabis-associated coins pumped in the lead up to 4/20 simply because cannabis will be in the news for all manner of reasons and the price of most of those coins will likely collapse immediately afterwards.

So next evet is in november isnt it?or  Is there any other event ?

That is an event, one which I think ∆9 sponsors in the name of CannabisCoin. I suspect it will only be one of many rather than the event.

[Rampant speculation:]

I would expect that there will be many, many more dispensaries that will join the Yes We CANN movement as CANNdy supply becomes available for them to distribute. It would make sense for joining dispensaries to hold events to promote the fact.

As crops are grown, cured, tested, packed and distributed then there should be something of a "swarm" of events, then perhaps new crop & new variety celebrations...

I would say a lot more events are on the horizon.

[Speculation off]

As everyone is probably aware we have been having a few troll difficulties lately. I suspect this constant attention-seeking is a cry for help.

I believe the best we can do for James and all his alter egos is to help him find the help he needs. With that in mind I made this special James button:

I propose that rather than trying to reply to James and feeding his mania that everyone use the following code:

Code:
[center]This button is the first step to peace James. Click it to find the help you seek.[/center]

[center][url=https://www.dshs.wa.gov/mental-health-and-addiction-services][img]https://i.imgur.com/rGM0Jx6.png[/img][/url][/center]

If you find it necessary to quote one of his posts to identify why you are reposting the James button then please take a moment to delete his text from the quote. Without the gratification of seeing his inane ramblings he has reduced incentive to post.

Thank you.

You guys do realize about 90% of the people on here, in this coin, reading these posts have only maybe a fraction of an idea what you're talking about.  In addition, they give zero xxxxs about it. lol.

Yes, my apologies for rising to the need to address Jamesonotc's fire lighting attempts. It makes for one boring thread doesn't it?

Sadly though, he does manage to frighten some CANN holders by making them think significant security vulnerabilities exist where in fact none do.

As Saul Bellow said, a fool can throw a stone in a pond that one hundred wise men can not get out. Unfortunately James mischievously uses this technique to create fear, uncertainty and doubt while claiming to have innocent intentions.

Sigh... you should know and I know that MAX_MONEY could equal "gesundheit" for all the difference that it really makes. If you are worried about redundant variables left in code you should avoid checking the code for just about every commercial program in captivity.

Completely wrong, the value of MAX_MONEY is very important, along with COIN. MAX_MONEY = 420,000,000 * COIN is absurd and way over shot for the supply this coin distributes. COIN = 10^8 or 100,000,000.

MAX_MONEY essentially the accepted amount allowed on your network within a transaction, you just are not accepting this fact for some reason.

Seems you too also would rather be lackadaisical about the allowed supply to exist with your investments in this coin.

This fix will require a hard fork and probably something to address before network hash rates get low enough to prevail a malicious attack, not just potentially here, but anywhere else you may have a "redundant variables".

It's a vulnerability clearly sitting in plain view.

Proof of stake is also something to consider discussing as BitcoinSanDiego has mentioned previously. Many coins have successfully mitigated this transfer with plenty of success without requiring a switch of blockchains.

-James

As a programmer that reads the source code of these various coins, I can say that MAX_MONEY is often defined as the maximum supply of the coin that will ever exist by the programmers.  This doesn't mean that the value of MAX_MONEY actually is the maximum amount of a coin that will ever be created.  With Bitcoin it is, but I have seen other coins that have a difference between the value of MAX_MONEY and the maximum amount of coins that can be generated once the block reward drops to a number close to zero coin.

The Value of MAX_MONEY is used within the source code as a sanity check on the on any amount of coins, whether it be a transaction value or individual transaction output or a transaction fee.  The source code checks the validity of a value of a number of coins by making sure that the value is above zero (0) and less than the value of MAX_MONEY.  Additionally MAX_MONEY is the transaction fee for a block that is larger than a maximum size.  The value of MAX_MONEY is arbitrary and could be mistakenly set to a value that would modify the behavior of the coin.  For instance, if MAX_MONEY was set to 100 coins, whether mistakenly or on purpose, then this will definitely limit the amount of coins that could be sent in a transaction, while having other side effects.

MAX_MONEY is hard coded into the source code and some calculations are required to make sure that it would agree with the actual maximum amount of coins that could be produced on the blockchain according to the GetBlockValue function.  For CANN, my calculations show that GetBlockReward maxes out at around 20 halvings of the block reward at around 105,860,159.84.  Therefore CANN uses a value of 420 million for MAX_MONEY, while the actual max money will be about 106 million.

Does MAX_MONEY have any security issues? Could leaving it at 420,000,000 allow for an attack that creates 300,000,000 coins and has users with the current wallet allowing that attack?

This is getting ridiculous guys.

Here's how to satisfy yourselves that MAX_MONEY is entirely innocuous:

Go to the CannabisCoin git repository.

At the top of the page you'll see a search box, which should be set to searching "this repository" by default.

Type in MAX_MONEY (the search is case insensitive so it doesn't have to be all uppercase).

You will receive back two files with a total of four lines highlighted.

1) main.h line 57 is the declaration of MAX_MONEY.

2) and line 58 which is a boolean (true/false) declaration basically defining a positive number of coins.

3) main.cpp line 564 which tests whether a transaction is malformed.

and 4) line 627 which prevents blocks exceeding the maximum permissible size by making the fee larger than can possibly be paid.

That's it. At no point does CannabisCoin ever use the value MAX_MONEY to determine how many coins may exist at any given moment nor the coin generation rate at any block height.

Look for yourselves and if you don't believe Git's repository search then download the source and use your own computer's search to check for any other mentions.

For goodness sake do your own research rather than falling for Jamie boy's malicious well-poisoning efforts. He has a long history of malice toward CannabisCoin and he is not an investor's friend.

Can we please put this nonsense to bed?

A note to all...

I am a relative newcomer to this forum and have observed the following over the past few months...

After reading through the MANY pages and comments, it has become obvious to me that there are truly passionate and well meaning followers of this coin as well as some that have more sinister intentions. I have researched the coin, D9 and his team as much as I can (being not too technically minded on most of the jargon used). After much consideration and investigation, I feel confident in the dev team and the seemingly honest intentions of the CANNdy concept. It is quite obvious to me that there is likely to be trolls or "fudders" about and appears quite apparent as to who those individuals are likely to be. I am confident that this coin will do very well and that the trolls will not succeed in scaring genuine investors away, despite their feeble attempts to do so. It is quite a shame that well rooted and committed members of this forum have to spend 95% of their time on here battling idiots who want nothing more than to destabilise this venture for their own sinister or amusing means. However, full credit must be given to those that do furiously defend Cannabiscoin and the dev teams' honour, integrity, and obvious hard work. Their passion for the concept and the community they wish to educate, help, and enlighten, far outweigh the attempted damage and destabilisation that the trolls wish to create.

I currently hold approximately 17.5k CANN and refuse to be put off by ANY attempts to defraud my intelligence!

Kindest regards

Davey
Current and future UK CANN investor

Hi Davey, welcome to the Yes We CANN community Cheesy

Just a small note to a new bitcointalk user - it's against the rules to post your coin addresses in the body of a post and the BCT mods get pretty cranky about it. Placing it in your signature is apparently the only acceptable option.

Once again, welcome. We are very pleased to have you. Smiley

In my opinion , these people are irrational in thinking that their coins are secure on Bittrex. Yes , Bittrex is probably the most reputable exchange and has the best security at this moment in time but it is not safe because you are handing over your private keys to a trusted third party. Time and time again you can see how trusted third parties clean out investors ... think Mt. Gox , Allcrypt, Mintpal , etc etc etc...  Everytime when someone gets screwed its because you are trusting someone with your private keys. I keep a marginal balance of BTC , CANN, and other coins there but the vast majority of coins are stored on my secure computer wallet with multiple backups .

Very good practice Mr Big Smiley

Good security advice for everyone, not just new users.

Reminder: you can download a ready-to-go USB flash drive image from here. CannabisCoin is already installed and waiting for your wallet.dat file. If you don't have your own wallet.dat yet the software will create one for you.

If you wish to expand the image to take advantage of a larger flash drive than the 8Gb image there's a tutorial on doing so here.

Always keep multiple copies of your encrypted wallet.dat file in various secure locations so that you may always recover your coins following life's little unforeseen moments.

Thanks again MrBigMugs for your useful security reminder.
