281  Economy / Economics / Re: Technology and work ethics on: April 06, 2024, 05:03:41 PM
We can't dispute the fact that the advent of technology has played a great role in improving activities in the workplace. With the networking of the different PCs in companies, it has become easy to send a broadcast message to all staff at a time, and coupled with other sophisticated technology, coordinating and controlling multiple workers has become easier which has resulted in a high level of productivity and an increase in the staff to management relationships.

But then, the issue of workers' privacy and management compliance with work ethics has been of serious concern, and to a very large extent, it always appears as though most management has always used technology to the disadvantage of her staff. You find situations where CCTV cameras are mounted in most offices and privacy is denied to its peak. Most PCs used by staff are always under serious surveillance and sometimes, staff's don't even have a single knowledge that they are being monitored, and whenever they get a bit flimsy, their job is threatened.

I understand the importance of monitoring workers to ascertain there level of productivity, and to improve workers attendance and also enhance Cyber security but then, the inability of most management to go about this ethically has been of great concern to me.

What's your view about this?

Op first of all, you must understand that it is an official environment so it's appropriate to keep activities on a public glare, because most times we've had cases of theft in an official environment and if there is no CCTV or hidden cameras to identify some of these misgivings that happens in the office, we won't know those involved.  Workers should always understand that they are in a working environment and everything that they are doing from their dress code to the way they communicate and how they relate to each other, should be ethical and in tandem to rules of the company.

so I'm in support of those CCTV camera, to enhance transparency and accountability on the  side of the workers, because it is a business environment and you are there for a serious work,  you are there to be productive and those you are working for ought to look at your level of productivity so that they won't wake up one morning and hear that the company has been sold out to somebody else and the ground work was done by workers within the company.
282  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: FG to unveil new NIN card with payment capability: on: April 06, 2024, 02:29:26 PM
As part of the effort to improving on the structure of the national identity card that's already in place, the federal government has launched an innovative identity card with payment functionality . The general multipurpose card (GMPC) is to be issued to Nigerians and legal residence of Nigeria as thier default national identity card.
Key features of the card includes;
1. The card can be used as debit or prepaid card by linking it to your bank.
2. The card shall enable holders to have access to government intervention fund.
3. It will contain machine readable zone for e passport information
4. Contain your national identity number
5. Contain biometric authentication i.e fingerprint.
6. Offline capabilities that allows transaction in areas with no internet access

What's your take on this planned improvement on the Nigeria national identity card? Should we be expecting a possible difficulty in getting this new identity card like what happened when the previous identity card was made compulsory?

OP if what you've listed are the true functions of the card, then that's a good one. Citizens needs to have a unique number that can have multiple functions just like the western world.  The only problem I have here is the ability to access government intervention funds by the ordinary citizens who don't have connections, we've heard multiple times about government releasing funds for the indigent in the society and the most vulnerable, yet those funds just disappear into the tin air without the actual people getting them.  In adopting some of these advanced technological methods in a bid to build a societal structure, we still need to purge ourselves of political interest and greed that runs the system, else the main purpose of some of these innovations will be defeated.

I like that you used the word "if" which is a really strong word in this context because like you pointed out earlier, City are hungry for goals and would be looking to do to another club that which they did to Aston Villa and you'd agree with me that in terms of strength, Unai Emery's Aston are tougher than Crystal but they still got that thrashing and you think Crystal Palace will survive it? Home or away, it makes no difference. The only thing that might occur is that we might see Palace making it difficult for City to score but that won't mean they won't. Haaland hasn't scored in three games now if I'm not mistaken and will be itching to do so, and coupled with the fact that they drew their last match, Pep will be looking to take his pound of flesh, don't you think?
The only strange thing is that City could not do the same with Liverpool and Arsenal, and could not score a single goal. In the match with Arsenal, it was clear how an organized defense can ruin Guardiola’s plans, but I think they are no strangers to such games, most teams are simply trying to defend against City, by the way, even though Arteta’s strategy worked, I didn’t like Arsenal’s game at all.

The game with Crystal Peles has already started, and Crystal Peles opens the scoring in the first minutes, this is unexpected and now City will have to win back, let's see how quickly they can do it. Now, by the way, Krista Peles may well play from defense on counterattacks.
Manchester city have equalized with an astonishing goal from De Bruyne making it 1-1. Though crystal palace are still trying to show some level of home advantage against the citizens. Crystal palace goal keeper just saved a one on one with Haaland, I almost thought he had scored, that save was outstanding, however Manchester city are still playing there dominating style of play, pushing crystal palace backwards and taking over the midfield with crystal palace managing to see if they can end the first half like this.
284  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: April 06, 2024, 11:26:38 AM
Chelsea's victory could not be separated from Diogo Dalot's mistake, who committed a violation in the penalty box and made Manchester United lose focus. And Chelsea's victory was thanks to Cole Palmer who completed an extraordinary hat trick well and the last two goals he scored just one minute apart left Manchester United humiliated.
And Manchester United's defense was terrible and Cole Palmer's two penalty kicks should not have happened, and this will be a lesson for Erik ten Hag to give firmness to his defenders.
We consider Manchester United to be an unlucky match in this match because of several small mistakes that cannot be blamed, such as the mistake made by Dalot which resulted in Chelsea's second penalty.
Manchester United's defense is very chaotic which must receive attention in the transfer window.
The current midfield is good enough to compete in the main league because Mainoo and several other names can fulfill Erik ten Hag's needs. Only defense is the main line that Erik ten Hag must improve next season if he wants to compete for the title.
But we have been discussing the same thing for a long time now that Manchester United have organized their attack and in contrast they have failed to organize their midfield or defence. If the midfield is weak the pressure will be on the defense and if the defense is weak the strikers will be beaten every time by the opposition's counter attack no matter how many goals they score. If the defense and midfield are strong, the pressure on the strikers will be reduced and the strikers will be able to score freely, making Manchester United more likely to win than lose. Manchester United realize they have enough problems in defense and midfield yet why don't they try to fix these problems in every transfer window. They must work on this issue in the next transfer season or else they will perform this badly in the next season as well.
Eric Ten had has had the same defensive pattern for some time now,  the central midfield and the central defences lack composure to some extent. I think the only thing on a different side on the Manchester United team, is the attacking midfield who do more of trying to push the ball forward, Bruno Fernandez has been doing a fantastic job on that.  Ten had is one coach that will try to manage a situation, instead of making instant change, we know the story of Onana and how he remained resolute on not to change Onana. Manchester United still needs more strikers upfront at least to help Radford.
285  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: April 05, 2024, 04:44:20 PM

It seems that the more poor you are (and the fewer the investments that you have), the more important it is to both establish an emergency fund and also to maintain that emergency fund in cash rather than in any other assets.
Yes, that's basically factual because, there's no diversification in income streams to be able to fund the establishment of investments. Emergency funds as it were shouldn't be on assets form as they could suffer value fluctuation, and sometimes won't be the actual value you've set for emergency, and you cannot even predict the scale of the emergency.

I think that the longer that anyone invests, the more and more comfort that he should have about having had built various systems to protect his investment, but surely one of the problems becomes that sometimes people will start to unnecessarily take extra risks with some of their investment and not protecting themselves as much as they should, and surely there can be points in which your holdings are more vulnerable than others
Well, most extra (unnecessary)risks that people take in their investments, like you said earlier I'm previous posts, is having a lot more than 10% holdings in shitcoins, and is obviously a waste of percentage that could be put in Bitcoin investment.

Investing in shitcoins long term is foolish, never make that mistake Bitcoin is trustworthy as far as possible If you invest $100 $100 you invest in Bitcoin. Then you can benefit the most, because long-term investment in bitcoins will certainly reap benefits. And if you can't then start saving bitcoins in DCA method. Of course you invest in bitcoins success is sure to come but you have to be patient.

And maybe because there are some shitcoins that are tempting, but if you don't do a thorough analysis and don't do it well and don't follow it from the start it will be in vain and very risky.
There is nothing better than Bitcoin for long-term investment and this has been proven other than shitcoins which do not have strong evidence, other than Bitcoin.
And I think this DCA method is good and easy for beginners and also good for those who don't have the ability to buy Bitcoin in large quantities. Because we can buy according to our abilities periodically without forcing circumstances that do not support buying in large quantities, and do it for the long term and Bitcoin will definitely provide good returns for us.
How do you even do a thorough analysis on some of this shitcoins that are very unpredictable, what kind of methodological research or analysis would you want to take in to cognizance to ascertain the certainty of  some of this shitcoins. Because left alone with me they are not worth investing in, not to even talk of wanting to have the idea of having a long-term investment plan. Most people's have learnt the hard way after investing a lot of into shitcoins with the assurance that it's a project that is worth investing in.
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Richest Crypto And Bitcoin Billionaires In The World 2024 on: April 05, 2024, 11:33:07 AM
https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnhyatt/2024/04/02/the-richest-crypto-and-bitcoin-billionaires-in-the-world-2024/?sh=1bf1dacb726b

"That’s helped make at least 17 people crypto billionaires, according to Forbes’ 2024 World’s Billionaires list, up from nine crypto billionaires last year. These 17 investors and entrepreneurs are worth a collective $93 billion, between their estimated crypto asset holdings, publicly disclosed stock holdings and private assets. That’s more than double the $37 billion in collective crypto billionaire wealth last year.

For the third year running, Changpeng Zhao, founder and former CEO of crypto exchange Binance, is crypto’s wealthiest person. Despite pleading guilty to U.S. money laundering charges in November, CZ, as he’s known, is now worth an estimated $33 billion, up from $10.5 billion last year. That makes him the biggest crypto gainer in dollar terms since last year and the 50th-wealthiest person in the world. The bulk of his fortune comes from his majority stake in Binance, which remains the industry’s largest global trading venue by volume.

1. Changpeng Zhao
Net worth: $33 billion (vs. $10.5 billion) | Source of wealth: Binance"
__
4 billion in fines isn't a lot of money to him.

Of course given the amount of money he has gained from his initial investment of( $10.5 billion) to an increase in value of $33 billion, $4 billion as a fine, is more like a chicken change to him.  The 50th richest person in the world, that's massive for changpeng Zhao. For him leaving Binance as the CEO wasn't too much of a big deal, because he had already built a global brand, Binance is the leading CEX in world at the moment, however he still has his stake in Binance.
Though Ordinary the fine is on the high side, $4 billion is a lot of cash,  the judgment was on a harsh side, as the amount for me would have been way lesser, maybe a $100 million.
287  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 05, 2024, 10:53:46 AM
I'm already seeing Liverpool with the trophy this, because they might actually win those five away games, because Liverpool has that capacity, though they still have Manchester United to play on Sunday which might actually be a tough one for Liverpool considering their last experience during the FA cup game, where United came out victorious. However I feel since this is the premier League, Liverpool will definitely want to come out with all the missiles they have. If they come out victorious against Manchester United  on Sunday, then there vision to left the trophy will become glaring.
Trophy is still far for Liverpool to get it as there are 8 more matches and they only have 2 and 3 points more than Arsenal and Manchester City. One bad match can change all situation from advantage to disadvantage for Liverpool.

In a match with Sheffield, if Mac Allister did not score a 2 - 1 from a distant shot for Liverpool, who knows how that match would have ended. If in one of last 8 matches, they won't have a savior who can help them to win a match, they can see Arsenal equalizing the 2 points difference or worse if they lose one match, Arsenal will take over the first position.

Liverpool actually have good advantage and good form too but they still have many things to do to win Premier League after next 8 matches.
Do not also forget that, Arsenal too can be unlucky with the remaining games they have, I'm saying so because the uncertainty is on both sides not only Liverpool, moreover Liverpool have lesser opponents with which they can confidently win outside that of Manchester United which i feel is one obstacles they must surmount before we start to consider the other games coming.  I agree with you to some extent that one bad match can upturn the entire table, I'm considering the fact that Liverpool are more advantageous at this point in time than the two other contenders.
288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 05, 2024, 10:09:35 AM
They still have eight more games to go for the title, which is a difficult process with City and Arsenal right behind them.
True it is difficult, but Liverpool have the advantage, it is in their hands; if they will all of their remaining EPL games, they would be Premier league champions, of course City are Arsenal are going to keep on breathing down their necks, but they would need other teams to do the job for them. All the remaining fixtures for Liverpool are games that they can win, so there is a very high chance that they are not going to drop points again. It would be an unbelievable farewell from the players to Klopp, if they are to win the league.
I agree that Liverpool has the chance to win the Premier League trophy this season if Manchester City and Arsenal drop points, respectively, in the Premier League. Liverpool cannot win all their remaining fixtures in the Premier League because they have five away matches, and they cannot win these five away matches. And in these five away matches, the home team can likely beat or draw with Liverpool.
289  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 04, 2024, 01:38:51 PM
If they want to maintain their performance next season then Leverkusen should try to add depth to their squad because they will be playing in the Champions League. The decision to stay is much better than leaving too quickly to take charge of another team because Xabi Alonso needs to prove his quality as a coach. Playing in the Champions League will mean that Xabi needs several quality players because the matches there will be much different from the Bundesliga.
Next season will be a real challenge for Leverkusen. They will play in the Champions League and that is a high level competition. Xabi must be able to rotate players and add variations to match tactics. I think club management will give Xabi a budget to find the players he wants. And for tactics I think if you play at a level like the Champions League you really need a variety of tactics because strong teams from other leagues will look for your weaknesses. And if they find your weaknesses then the teams in the domestic league will also find out your tactical weaknesses if you lack tactics.

The next challenge is that Bayern Munich will be better prepared for Leverkusen. I'm sure this season they really didn't expect Leverkusen to be a problem for them. And they definitely won't let that happen again next season.
I think Xabi Alonso should be allowed to choose the kind of players he wants in his squad and shouldn't be pressured into recruiting big players just because he would be playing in the champions league come next season. He has already proven himself as a good coach by doing what he has done this season with the Leverkusen side, so I don't think anyone is doubting his technical abilities. Xabi Alonso has agreed to continue with Bayern Leverkusen next season despite having several clubs like real madrid, Liverpool and other European elite club wanting to employ him come next season, without any oarta of doubt. I think Bayern Leverkusen are gonna do well in both domestic and European completion as long as they have their coach with them next season.
290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 04, 2024, 01:07:28 PM
Manchester City played the games they wanted today in a magnificent way and victory was inevitable. They inflicted a heavy defeat on fourth-placed Aston Villa by scoring four goals.

The match started with high heat for both teams, with mutual goals being exchanged, but with the goals scored by Foden, Manchester City had a good victory this week. The same day was a smooth day for Arsenal. The race for top positions continues with small points gaps.

Foden scored a hat trick in this match and became a hero for Man City in this match. And what we can conclude from this match is that Man City is not completely dependent on Haaland and De Bruyne. Because even when Haaland and De Bruyne are not playing, we can see that Man City remains a strong squad and is difficult to beat. Aston Villa really lost badly in that match. And I understand the strategy that Pep uses in rotating players and making their core players not get too tired amidst the busy schedule they have. If we look at Man City as it is now, it seems that optimism towards Man City in the UCL will also increase again.

It's actually true that Manchester city is still a very formidable side wether Erling halaand and kelvin de bruyne plays or not but I really do think that is only applied on the lower opposition, no disrespect to Aston villa, but the are not a top side, in as much as they are fourth in the table, if am not mistaken, and Manchester city have what it takes in their ranks to put away team like Aston villa regardless of the presence of haaland or kelvin de bruyne.

But against the bigger boys, they actually need the bigger players like kelvin de bruyne and Erling halaand for the bigger occasions, and of a truth, they will definitely struggle against the bigger teams especially when those players are absent, though it's a very moral busting win, which they will take into their fixtures against real madrid.
An astonishing night for Phil foden and his colleagues who didn't leave any stone unturned until they have totally overpowered the Aston villa side, though Manchester city got off to a shaky start after scoring so early into first half of the game and later conceding a goal in the same half, but in the second half of the game it was Manchester city that dominated all the way to thereby making Aston villa look helpless as Phil foden couldn't help but display his goal scoring prowess by netting a super hatric on the night and sending a message to  the  to real madrid whom they will clash with in the UEFA champions league quarter finals first leg. Manchester city are contending for both the champions League and the premiership and at such cannot compromise their standards at the moment because any bad result may truncate their chances of ending the season with a trophy.
291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lately I've been thinking about this a lot. on: April 04, 2024, 10:29:31 AM
So I happened to watch a UFC related movie yesterday and the main character is a very strong one who never loses a fight but during a fight he decided to lose the fight, I found out that he did it intentionally because his uncle and his uncle's friend bet a lot on the biggest odd, which is the other fighter.

He lost the fight and he still made a lot of money from his uncle and his uncle's friend, how brilliant? Since they use a large amount and also on the biggest odd, but I think about the other gamblers who chose to bet on him because there was assurance that he would win the fight.

Now I started to think about the real life UFC, maybe this is even happening underground and we don't know? Jake and Mike Tyson's upcoming fight for example is gearing up, many believe that Mike will win, but maybe something like this will happen?

Many gamblers are placing bets on this fighter since its more reliable than you against the casino games, this is all about agility and skills, but the possibility of intent loss to make more money is also possible in this game, what's your take on this?
This doesn't happen only in boxing, most sport are into it, where the big guy looses intentionally and in turn get good money's from the high odds of him losing, in football some years back, juventus FC in Italy where facing some sanctions for match fixing. So they do fix some of this big event, we might not know but if you dig deeper you will find of some cases that where found to be true.

The game between Tyson and Jake, I'm not sure if they will actually let that fight happen, mike Tyson is 57 and Jake Paul is around 27 there is a high level of mismatch with their age difference, which I feel the organizers might not want it to happen however if it does happen then it will not be as aggressive as we would have wanted.
292  Economy / Economics / Re: Agent of Economic stimulant on: April 04, 2024, 10:03:44 AM
Of recent time the world economies have been having problem, from economic recession to losing of jobs, to high inflation rate in the prices of goods and services etc they are all pointers that the economies of the world are currently not in a good shape
So this lead me to be thinking about the word economy and what and what is actually responsible for an economy to grow and what are the economic stimulant

The world economy is made up of the economies of many nations. Most national economies are interconnected and a problem in one affects others negatively. The European and US economy is closely related because these nations have good diplomatic relationships. So when economies of nations is sound, the global economy will experience growth.

Nevertheless, what boasts a nation's economy is more exports and fewer imports which lead to favourable balance of payments. When a nation has enough industries, most of its citizens will be employed and the country will be able to earn enough foreign currencies to defend the local currency.

The level of education of the population of the nation also determines economic growth. A nation that can boast of quality skilled manpower will always be innovative and creative. The nation will be able to have many small-scale businesses that will create job opportunities. This is why the biggest problem of developing nations is the high rate of illiteracy.

Adequate infrastructure is another agent of economic development. Any nation that lacks good roads, security, constant power supply, and so on will not attract investors. And lack of investors will not make the nation a prosperous one.

Lastly, sound economic policies and transparency in government are other determinants of economic stimulants. Some nations have policies such as double or high taxation that can discourage investment. Corruption in government is also another reason why some nations are not economically strong.

I certainly agree with your assertion, if a country has good infrastructure in place, like steady supply of electricity, it will help stabilise the state's economy. Educated population too it's an added advantage to some of these things, most first world countries have citizen's that are highly educated, thereby increasing the literacy rate and thereby reducing a number of people that cannot function or contribute ideally to build a society.

So there is a whole lot of things to be done by the government of those countries that are going into economic turbulence to stimulate their economic growth,  because most countries that have infrastructure, and many social amenities and high level of productive capacity in places, have a lesser impact of any economic turbulence, unlike the developing nation's that are still struggling to build infrastructure. So to stimulate the economy of any country you have to put some certain things in place like electricity, economy accountability of tax revenue, and high level of infrastructure like good roads and bridges for easy navigation of goods and services.
293  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling kills the fun in these two cases on: April 03, 2024, 10:02:02 PM
Hi everyone,

One of the common mistakes in the world of gambling now is that some people run to make quick money and are greedy by betting all their money and trying to make gambling their primary source of income. You find them spending hours in casinos and sites, regardless of their losses, trying to make up for it, and this is what often leads to more Of the losses that may lead them to bankruptcy, and there are also those who make betting the only means of entertainment and spending their  free time, even though they do not care about the size of their losses, they ignore the consequences, as the enthusiasm they find while playing will decrease with the passage of time and the matter will become tasteless..

Do not make gambling your only source of income or your only means of entertainment, as this will eliminate the first goal of gambling, which is pleasure.
Gambling cannot be someone's main source of income, even professional gamblers do it as a secondary means of making money, most gamblers don't see gambling as a quick means of making money, because gambling actually requires you to be patient and strategic for you to win a bet.  Gambling addiction is psychological disorder which can be caused by many factors, because for somebody to gamble to a point where he will be bankrupt it then means he needs medical attention, because there might be other things he might be addicted to.

294  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling addiction is not about the money you could win; it's about the "win" it on: April 03, 2024, 08:33:40 PM
When I started gambling my mindset is solely about winning some cash to better my life but the more I gamble, the more that idea shifts. The money no longer satisfies my initial goal but the idea of winning does.

But even with those ideals in play, why would a millionaire start gambling in the first place?

so why would a rich athlete or politician become so addictive to gambling?

I think socialization+joy+drinking+gambling is satisfaction to them. What do you think?
No amount of money is always enough for most persons, so even though they are rich, they would still want to double their money, however gambling isn't for only rich people, it's for every class of persons in the society. Addiction can affect anybody in the society, or do you think addiction should be solely for the low income earnings in our society?, I believe your answer should be NO.

Socialization brings awareness to everybody not only the rich, however people gambling for different reasons, some to double their money while others do it for fun.
OP, You get me confused when you said the money no longer satisfies your initial goal, but winning does, so when you win is it not the same thing as earning more money and using it to better your life just as you said or is there any more purpose that winning serves you that we don't know?
295  Economy / Economics / Re: Neo-liberalism and the crisis of Capitalism on: April 03, 2024, 06:32:56 PM
The emergence of industrial capitalism which commenced in Europe in the second half of the eighteenth century heralded two social phenomena such as; pervasive commodification ( all productions geared for sale), and monetization (the centrality and  the use of money for transactions). Sequel to this development, the entire human society became polarized into two social classes; the owners of production and labour. The latter became decomposed into different social classes such as; the middle class, working class, lower class, under class and lastly at best, though more often than not is never recond, the peasantry.
Thus, production is organized within these social complexities which is characterized with antagonisms arising from inequality, poverty, unemployment, inflation and hunger. These are the causes of the miseries in the human society in recent times.
The Great Depression in Europe in 1929 is as the results of these macroeconomic indices as stated above. Classical liberalism was not able to address the crisis, so there was a shift for the adoption of the neo- liberal paradigms such as; fiscal policy and monetary policy. These were operationalized to help manipulate aggregate demands as to minimize unemployment and inflation in Europe. It was achieved through Budgetary framework which shows the ratio of recurrent expenditures and capital expenditures and the directives of expenditures are specified accordingly.
Ever since the European countries, the United States of America and other advance countries are helped by this neoliberal permutations.
On the basis of these ideological persuasions, what really is happening to the African continent and other underdeveloped continents. Why are they not been able to liberate their continents from the contemporary crisis of global capitalism.
I would want the users of this forum to comment and contribute to this great debate. Thanks.
OP you've written this thesis as a historian which I don't know if you are, however for the African continent, neocolonialism is one major behind the scene circumstances that is affecting the African continent, the colonial masters still find a way to control the industrial capitalism of some of the African states, by either influence the activities of most government in power, thereby undermining their sovereignty and putting their productive capacity in disarray.
Most of the things we are talking about today especially for the African continent did not just start today, it has been happening for years, kwame Nkrumah a foremost leader in Ghana some years back wrote about neocolonialism the last stage imperialism, where he wrote about some of the misgivens in the African continent that is been influenced by colonial masters.

Some persons will go on to argue that it was not only Africa that was colonised, other continent too where colonized and they are  doing just fine with their economy, so why is Africa's own different, however some persons need to be reminded that not all African countries are doing bad, the likes of Egypt, south Africa, Morocco and Tunisia are doing very well, Moreover I believe some of the African leaders that have allowed this neocolonialism to continue fester in their affairs is as a result of what they benefit as against the interest of their citizens.

I read last month that it is possible for PMS (petrol) price to reduce this month if the refinery in Port Harcourt is fully functional. This month has just started and we are looking forward for good news about this.

Today, I have just read that Dangote refinery is now selling AGO (diesel) as diesel price plummeted. Diesel sold at ₦1900 in few weeks back but mostly selling between ₦1600 and 1700 per liter. But as Dangote refinery begin diesel sales, it started selling it at N1225.per litre.

If the price of PMS and AGO starts to decrease, it is possible for default to occur as the price of goods and services may start decreasing. But other areas like increase in minimum wage and others also still need to be considered which can make me not to be accurately correct but I think that the price if goods and services may reduce.
I just feel the port Harcourt refinery is not going to start anything soon, NNPC it's just being dramatic about it, and I feel there is heavy politics been played, because how can the port Harcourt refinery, the one in delta state and Kaduna not working, yet dangote refinery that was just built few years back just started production started and selling to local dealers but everyday we here stories of port Harcourt refinery coming back to production.

The price of fuel will not reduce anytime soon, I heard one time from the presidential spokes person ajuri ngelari saying even if the Port Harcourt refinery naira start production, the citizens should not expect it to be sold on a low price.

Yes Arsenal was more of defensive because they can't play an attacking football with Manchester City because that would have cost them the game since City has more possession of the ball, one important thing i noticed about Arsenal in the game is that they allowed City to have more control of the ball but they kept them away from their post because City did not have the opportunity to shoot shots like they used to do when they play against other teams. The game wasn't that boring just that most people expected to see goals in the match but when they were not seeing goal attempts they became angry watching the game.
Exactly, Arsenal really relied more on their defense in this match. Their target means actually preventing Man City from scoring goals. And they used a quick counter attack system to attack, so they only had a few chances to advance into the Man City area and couldn't win more balls. But, even though they are quite defensive, Arsenal's shots on target are actually more compared to Man City. This means that Arsenal's game is actually working quite well, but it cannot be denied that Man City's defense is also strong, their goalkeeper is also strong. And Draw could be Arsenal's worst target for this match.
Arsenal played the game based on the experience they had with Manchester City in the past, I think from the last experience they had with Manchester City in last season has really taught them a lot to overcome defeat from Manchester City which they succeeded.  One thing about Manchester City is that they understand every team they are playing against and know their weak points. As an opponent playing against Manchester City if you want to frustrate them not allowing them to win is just to play a good defensive game. Just forget about attacking game and go for a defensive game it is good enough to tie Manchester City down.

Looking from the game, arsenal played a good game and their performance was unique, from the result of the game they have good chances of winning Premier league this season.
Arsenal style of play wasn't too different with pep guardiola style, which deal's with more creative attacking midfielders and solid defensive midfielders, which is almost similar with arsenal. If you watched that game properly you will notice more midfielders had chances to store goals more than strikes.

As for last season's defeat, I believe Arsenal players because of the intensity of the games they played week in week out for last season and the position they held then, some players had some level of fatigue, since there was no strong second eleven to always switch to unlike Manchester city, so when they met Manchester City, they couldn't withstand them.
So but for this season Arsenal players are more relaxed with a different psychology on how to approach a tough opponent like Manchester city.

Gambling is definitely not good for children, that is why there is age limitation in virtually all casinos. Unfortunately, children are becoming too smart and inquisitive, so I was just thinking about the possibilities of protecting children from getting involved in gambling. My worries was increased by the fact that there are physical casinos and betting shops(as they are called in my town) in many streets with big signboards. Children passes these places and some parents do stop by with their children to place a quick bet. Is there anything that can be done to protect children from gambling with reference to physical shops that they see everyday?
Children don't go to physical shops to play bet, bet agents don't even give them that privilege to go close to their shops not to talk of entering inside to play a bet. You cannot stop the company from having physical shops because of children. and even if the children go online, most bet companies make your 18+ before they allow you register on their site, with proven ID Cards. Why would a parent even go to a betting shop with his child, that's wrong, the correction should be on the side of the parents not go with their children to a betting shop, because as a parent you must set a standard and protect your children from going into gambling at an early age, and don't play gamble in front of them.
299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Dreams of a Bitcoin Circular Economy in my Country on: April 02, 2024, 02:01:33 PM
I am a bitcoin enthusiast and I wish to spend some of my bitcoins instead of fiat. Unfortunately, I am unable to do so because of its slow pace of acceptance in my country. I really want to promote the bitcoin circular economy but I can't. I dream of  day in my country where I can earn in bitcoin and spend in bitcoin. I dream of the day where, even though I need to keep my bitcoin secure in a cold storage, I can still have say $100 worth of BTC in a hot wallet that I spend to buy goods and services from people who accept bitcoin. The idea will be to spend from this hot wallet for purchases while promptly replacing it. That is, after spending the $100, I simply buy another $100 worth of Bitcoin to refill the hot wallet. I remain optimistic that my dream will eventually come true in my country. In the meantime, I would be happy to hear the experiences of bitcoiners who are already living my dream bitcoin circular economy in their country. What is it like for you?
I can relate to your dreams and aspirations OP, I believe it's just with time of all this will fall in place, there are few businesses I know in Nigeria as well that do receive payment through bitcoin. Remember even most of the bitcoin activities we do today, we weren't prevy to them before. So The good thing is, bitcoin is legal in our country, so the growth and expansion will definitely come, today we use P2P to trade to get fiat in our local currency, it will certainly get a to point we will earn and spend in bitcoin.

However for we to get to these desired feet, there will be massive adoption of BTC and good knowledge of what it entails, so most business owners will know the intricacies in Bitcoin, which for me I know that it will take time for most of them to understand the concept called bitcoin, however a good number of the youthful population know a thing or two about bitcoin, and i believe they are the driving force that is needed to spread the knowledge.

Sometimes looking towards increment in salary wouldn't solve our problems.Over the years there has been hardship in the economy all over the world, and people complain on how to increase there salary or have other alternatives of getting more funds, and even when they get what they desire, they still complain that since their source of income has increased, there expenses has also increased. But I think that people needs to control the way they spend, in other to be able to save more. If paraventure we decided to spend according to how we earn without reducing the level of spending, we may end up not being productive.

For me cutting down expenses would be another way of adding value to our money. Like cutting down the rate we eat, for those that spend alot on food, you can do better without over eating. the way we buy unnecessary items that has no value, when we have other useful things to do with money. So  lets focus on the top priorities, expecially things that will bring more Money.

What do you guys think about this? Would this be helpful? And what do you think will help us in this time of economic hardship?
Cutting down on expenses is definitely a good measure to tackle inflation, however there are some expenses you cannot cut down, especially if your a parent. So I believe side gigs are another method to which you can help to leverage yourself when there is high inflation in your country. Also, it shouldn't always be about the citizens paying through their nose to sustain themselves and their families whenever inflation hits in, Government should be held responsible too so they can share in responsibility of helping citizens fight inflation.

Like providing affordable housing schemes for citizens, Affordable transportation system, subsidizing the healthcare system for citizen's and a whole lot more they can do.  Not letting the citizens bear the brunt of inflation alone.
