281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Statically Built Linux Wallet on: July 07, 2016, 03:58:59 PM
Hello,

I am reaching out for some help getting a linux wallet to build statically.  The wallet will build successfully but still requires the user to install additional deps on their machine.  Could someone enlighten me on how to get the Linux GUI wallet to build statically?

Thanks in advance.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CON] PayCon™ HI POS | LiteStake | Multisend | TOR | Android on: July 07, 2016, 03:52:26 PM
These things are very sadly Th82, but this topic is about PayCon.
I think most of us don't care CV2, XDE2, FLY or any other.

We are working on CON, buy and hold it and try to bring back to life:)

Anyway, maybe...just maybe we found a solution for the high orphan rate.  Wink

Simon, I care about some of the coins listed above but...I totally agree that this is the CON thread
and the place I come for CON news and discussions. I visit other threads for information on other coins.

There was the Question if Crestington is out of Crypto.
And I have answered. CON (and CV2) was a "Crestington" Coin. So the additional Info is relevant and there is also INFO about CON.
So what's the matter? It shows the behaviour of the former Crestington "DUMP" Dev in the OP.

By the Way, I have also CON in my portfolio. When the new Wallet will be released?

Regards
Tom

The small updated wallet will be released as soon as I can work out the issue of getting the Linux wallets to build statically.  Windows wallets are building fine; however, statically built linux wallet is being a pain.

I have no preference and would be happy to donate to a fund.
I would recommend that part of the transaction fees go to a development fund.
Otherwise, anytime a BE or anything needs funded you have to request BTC from
the community and, only a few contribute. A TX spreads the cost evenly across all
users sending TXs

I agree you 100%.  That will most likely be implemented in the new wallets.  I think is most fair thing to do as you just said only few contribute.  This would allow for continued development, pay for services, servers, web hosting, anything that may be required.  It would not be fair for the same individuals to always donate their funds while everyone gets the benefit.  No different than devs should be expected to work for free while everyone reaps the benefits of their hardwork.  I hope we can gain the support of the community moving forward and try to get CON back on track and moving forward.  There currently has been 10k CON donated thus far so its a start.

Guys with regard to Yobit. Any wallet that does not move a block for 30 minutes goes into maintainace mode. When a new block stakes then it resyncs. Cant tell you their logic on this, but thats how it is. The new team behind con has reached out to us. Let me get some stuff squared away on my own projects and I will see what I can do.

Vegas

What a post! Thank You very much!

I support this project for many reasons. Primarily , Crestington is a close friend of mine. Secondly I see you guys are struggling. Con is a fantastic project, and I cannot forget that when I began to code fly and was struggling myself, there was only one person that came, and took the time to show me. Crestington actually called me on the phone and spent hours walking me through what to do. So I dont forget things like that. He never asked for anything, but I sent him a nice batch of Con anyway. So CON carries a special place in my heart. I was once the top holder with 1 mil con, but sadly had to sell it off to get my own projects moving. So Im very attached to Con. My only concern is that rumors will start spreading that im taking over CON, and that is NOT the case. Im simply here to help you guys get moving again. Thats all.

Please give me an idea on what needs to be done first. Lets tackle one thing at a time. Whats the most major thing you guys want done?

Vegas

VegasGuy and myself have been in touch regarding the future of CON.  He has given me a lot of advice towards the future of CON.  I personally like the idea of a new start for CON.  We've already got a new look, new logo.  To begin new clean code base, with new clean chain.  This obviously would require a Coin Swap; however, i think the pros out weight the cons, no pun intended.  New chain equals the opportunity to lower inflation by swapping the currently coin supply of approx. 23million CON down to 230k 0r 2.3million CON.  Also, we would lower the PoS rewards to keep inflation lower from the start this time.  With this new code base with be the implementation of PoSP.  I would to get everyone opinion on adding PoW back to CON as well.  This would give CON a completely new start. Thoughts?

Only 2 weeks left until the upgraded wallet. It passes so fast because the Euro Cup.  Grin

Lets hope so.

There is some funding that is needed before new wallets can be created. If you would like to donate towards the development of new wallets please do so, PQ1EaFtr5yG3yHRcqNGro3NeL3WX5V9gG7.

CryptoTech is doing what he can to get the wallets done but we need the support of the community.

You should ask Vegasguy. I think he can make you a good offer as a long term CON supporter.
~CryptCo

I have spoken with vegasguy.  He is really busy with FlyCoin and XDE2 right now.  We have discussed some things concerning CON though.

The developers have ran into quite a few issues while working on the existing code and also attempting with a new code base.

With the issues now discovered a new code base is still the plan moving forward but we will be keeping the original chain so no coin swap needed.

We do not have an ETA at this time, but if everything goes well we hope to complete this in about 3 weeks.

If you want to follow the news and stay up to date,

join our CON Community Skype Group (https://join.skype.com/rpgzo9hbOUoj) or our Slack group (http://slackin.conslackin.tk). I will send 200CON to everybody who joins us for a minimum of 3 days

Estimated ETA 3 Weeks:

Nice updates!! Please implement Proof-of-Stake-Participation (PoSP).
I think we should change (the colour of) the new CON-Logo
This looks similar to the PayCOIN Logo, and we HATE PayCoin Wink

~~Cryptco

PoSP has been in the discussion for new code base.  It might not be in the first release of the new code base but high possibility that'll be coming shortly there after.

The logo was designed with the infamous PayCoin in mind honestly.  PayCon was obviously formed because of the scam PayCoin but I personally thought PayCon needed a more professional look rather than a guy pissing.  IMO this allows PayCon to stay true to the reason it was conceived while still moving forward with a more professional appearance.  But hey this is just my opinion doesn't count for much. lol

The developers have ran into quite a few issues while working on the existing code and also attempting with a new code base.

What were the issues?

Concerning the old code it's basically just outdated at this point.  Initially the plan was to remove TOR to help with the current orphans issue but once in the code it really wasn't worth the work to go backwards with the code and then try to move forward with newer features.

Concerning the implementation of a new base code was moreless the lack of discussion towards the direction CON is moving. Eg. Coin-Swap or No Coin-Swap, type of POS algorithm, etc.

My wording "issues" might not have been the correct way to explain it but that should paint a better picture.

Also, to be blunt about my position is I am doing a lot of learning here as well. I've been part of Crypto for a few years now but never was a dev for a coin.  Was part of the Netcoin foundation for most of my crypto experience thus far.  I know quite a few programming languages; however, my weakest unfortunately is C++.  What better way to learn more though right?  I'm eager to learn more about coin code as well as help out a community in need. I hope this helps everyone get a better understanding of my situation.

Eh OOP is OOP, shouldn't have too hard of a struggle with c++ vs others. The struggle is probably more about the familiarity with the giant code base that the coins come from. What also doesn't help is how fragmented all the coins are with codebases.

I think a lot of the problem is that Crestington might have had partial implementations of certain featuers. And yes, adding the TOR thing was a huge mistake imo. It seemed to really cause the code to struggle, which is why I never updated my block explorer to that code.

I think you are exactly correct.  The giant code base is honestly just overwhelming.  Yes, TOR seemed to cause a lot of issues which is not uncommon.  Also, seems like most users do not utilize the TOR feature even it is a feature in a coin.  I'm learning with time and we will get CON back on track. I'll keep you updated presstab.

Hello CON Community

I would like to open the discussion for a proposed coin swap.  In my opinion a coin swap would be good for CON due to the built up inflation.  There are approx. 23million CON currently in circulation.   I personally would like to do a proportional swap down to say 230k CON or 2.3million CON.  Also, the current avg. yearly APR is around 190%.  I would like to take this down to around 50%.  I believe this would be a good start to get CON back on it's feet while working towards a brighter future.  Once a new wallet has been released either with or without the coin swap new features and projects can then be started moving forward.  I have ideas of my own I would like to add to CON after the new code /wallets have been released but would love to hear from the community on things they would like to see in CON's future as well.

Your opinions and concerns are greatly appreciated.

Also, due to these discussions and important decisions please being patience for the new code/wallet release.  I will be working diligently to get things completed as soon as possible but do not want to my rash decisions when it comes to the future of CON.  I appreciate your patience and support moving forward.

Hello CON Community!!!

We are making progress with CON.  New graphics have already been completed.  Coding is in the works as we speak.  We will begin working on a new website soon as well.

I would like to open the discussion of the new reward structure.  What do you think the rewards should be set at? Yearly Percentage, min and max stake times, etc.

Also what features would like to see added to CON in the future?  Not saying every suggestion will be implemented or the ones that are will be in the first release but I would like to get your opinions.

If you would like to join our community chat group please feel free to @ https://join.skype.com/t5DJc03RoGkE

Hello
Can anyone help or advise I have been mining TEK coins for about 3 days now at http://mining.securepayment.cc/pools/tekcoin/

Was waiting for wallet to sync it has now but my balance is Zero

I have found loads of confirmed blocks but nothing in my wallet

  Many thanks for any help

   Steve

You need to rescan the block chain so your coins show up.
Sorry but can you tell me how to do that

If your machine is a windows machine you need to cd to the folder where the Tekcoin-qt.exe file is located.
ie. cd C:\Program Files (x86)\TekCoin
then type Tekcoin-qt.exe -rescan
press enter
the wallet will then open and rescan the blockchain.

Wassup with this? 95% of the staking go orphan...

By Crestington CON_CEO:
Quote
Orphans do seem to matter if you are mining POS of a fixed block reward for a fixed period, meaning that if you lose a block you have lost the coins and when the period expires you have lost out, although your weight seems to stay the same after an orphan meaning the chances are good that you will get a block soon after the orphan.

Based on visual observation orphans do not seem to matter with percentage based POS mining in perpetuity because if you miss one block your weight seem to stay the same and you will get that block reward or close to it with a next block soon after the orphan. Over time the POS reward has to add up to the coin design of a certain % per year. The last example is similar to closing your wallet for a week and opening it again for staking and then getting a large block reward to bring your POS rewards in line with the coin POS reward design. Since PayCon falls in the second category orphans do not really mind as long as you get a few blocks once in a while.
You probably get a lot of orphans when your internet conection is bad. You can also make sure your clock time is as correct as possible by syncing to internet time.
You can remove the orphans from the menu, Tools -> repair wallet.

I know all that... I have been staking pos coins since they are alive. CON is the ONLY coin to give me such a ridiculous orphan rate as high as that.
Also CON has a huge problem with performance using too much resources and cannot handle lots of blocks in same wallet.dat at certain point it will crash and make the wallet so slow and laggy that I cant use it.
I typically get 40% orphans with CON. As to resources, it is  using 400,000 k for me. Not great but about 1/3 of HBN, 1/2 of HYPER, 1/2 of ERC. way less than DMD and CAP. It might help to create a new wallet and transfer your coins. That worked for me the 1 time I had a CON slowdown.

Wassup with this? 95% of the staking go orphan...

same Issue (about 50% go orphan)

New code is currently being worked on and will fix these issues.

So I am having a problem getting the TEK wallet to sync.  I have gotten the latest wallet version: v2.4.1.0-TEK Checkwallet and repairwallet both pass true.

I have -rescaned the chain as well.  I have 8 active connections but still not syncing; however, it says it is catching up and syncing but I just keep getting further behind.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A couple questions first: Is it adding blocks? If so, you're probably ok. With a one minute block time, if you're synching from scratch, you'll get further behind until it gets near the end of the chain. Also, the estimated number of blocks will change as you pass checkpoints. You might be ok Cheesy

Yes it is adding blocks.  However, I was already synced and only 33 days behind yesterday when i upgraded my wallet. I let it run over night and was 34 days behind this morning.  The current block I'm has not changed.  Current block im stuck on is 1565835.  I haven't attempted to start from scratch yet because I wanted to make sure there waasn't something else to try before having to completely resync the whole chain.
