I understand what you are saying.  A "hack" comes from two ends.  If the site got hacked of course that is one thing.  However; if the hack(s) keep coming on the user's ends there are many things that can fortify your defenses.  I am not asking for an adversary to come after me by any means, but using VM's and only linux has kept me clean as a whistle against these hacks on all sites so far.  Still I have requested that Theymos consider U2F, which is the ultimate protection mechanism and its not too tough to deploy.

I do like the idea of sending a LINK to the registered email account as a REQUIREMENT to change a password or email addy, as long as it would also require that you enter the CURRENT password correctly first.  Password would authorize the link to be sent.  This would protect against someone hacking your email and not knowing your btc login credentials.  Maybe paper code backups if both of those fail.  If you lose all three then tough shit your account is gone ---- grow up time!!

No matter how It happens it can be prevented in most cases but adding simple email authorization. I don't see U2F being added soon because as for now only Chrome supports it and it's kinda complicated and not well documented for developers.
284  Other / Meta / Security Features on: December 14, 2017, 07:01:58 PM
Recently my account has been compromised and I know how painful and process of recovery is. My suggestion is adding some security features to the current board (I know new one is in progress but it will be years before it is finished). What I mean exactly is this:

  • 2FA - Might be hard to implement on old platform like SMF and it would take some time to test it since it would greatly impact signing in process
  • Email Approval - Simple and easy solution that would greatly reduced the number of hacked/stolen accounts. Most of the accounts that are stolen are just password changes, and the attacker does not have access to the owner's email address. A solution would be to simply send an email "click here if you want to change your password/email". This solution would require 20 minutes of coding from Theymos (maximum) and it would help admins with the account recovery load long term

Let me know what you guys think about this features that I think are needed.

Funny  Grin Just to explain, what he done in video is basically editing the HTML of the page. Same when you open the developer tools and change text on the webpage like this: (Changed his username in second post)

Pointless stuff...

Contacted them, asked for escrow with any one from the list (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0) they refused and want only forum staff as escrow. Tried to explain that staff is not offering escrow services but nothing...

@OP if you want to use the escrow I'll be your first buyer here.

Wtf ? Whats up with that shit about bitcoin price ? If price goes up it's not like everyone price changes and your is stuck on 7300$. Also this is LOW paying campaign and you are increasing post count to 40 Huh  Huh I don't even know what to say to that. What annoys me the most is the rule you added about ANN thread. Posting once per week is too much and creates spam in the thread. Campaign managers do realize that and that is the reason why most of them are dropping that rule. Your requirement is 5 per week ? That is just absurd. I'm out of this campaign.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: in future the Bitcoin will be the Money of Rich people only on: November 05, 2017, 10:19:20 PM
2. the fee in the transaction is about 0.0001 . this amount is about 7 USD today more or less but approx. in future if its price rises like 100.000 then its fee will be around 70 100 USD or more or less may be . that means alot for a poor person . this will be making distance from poor with the bitcoin . and slowly this will be the property and possession of rich people . i am not in its high fees favor but its becoming fact. in past i am eye witness  that we were paying like 13 cents and some more before December 2016 and now we have to pay  5 to 7 USD for each transaction .
Not true. Even if price is 100k per BTC fees could theoretically still be less than 10 cents. There are two factors that determine fees. Number of unconfirmed transactions that are currently in the mempool and number of miners that are processing those transactions. Increasing number of miners would lower the fees. We see Segwit2X increasing the block size so they could fit more transactions, lowering the number of unconfirmed ones in mempol. But what they are trying to do now is a bit overkill.
291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kaspersky Discoveres New Cryptocurrency Stealing Trojan Called CrryptoShuffler on: November 05, 2017, 06:38:12 PM
Hardware wallets have solved this issue. They display the address on the screen so you can clearly see if there was tampering or not. With Bitcoin price of 7500$ (at the moment of writing this) I don't think that investing 100$ into hardware wallet in order to secure your coins is a bad idea.

Well it is a bad idea as most people aren't going to be owning one bitcoin (at 7500) as it doesn't make sense for people to be owning that much (regular, everyday people of course)

But this is going to be a bit of a bad reputation for Bitcoin, though something like this is the only way for people to innovate when it comes to Bitcoin security as people aren't going to listen to security advisers unless people have money stolen.

Point being is even if you owned 300$ in BTC over last few month you would more than double what you own. Does it not make sense to spend some of the profits to make your current and future funds secure ?
292  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Antminer S9 on: November 05, 2017, 06:09:02 PM
I'm looking to purchase one or more S9's. Let me know what is your price. PSU is preferred and your location must be EU only. Please don't send me a message if you are from US even if you want to pay shipping fee or if you are looking for some ridiculous price. Thanks  Smiley

hey, it would be a useful to provide your location. If you are shipping it from EU I might be interested. Send me a PM if you do.
294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unsecured WiFi on: November 05, 2017, 05:55:35 PM
Depends on what you are doing. If you connect to WiFi and do nothing for example there is no way for you to get hacked. Most common type of attack on public WiFi is Man In The Middle Attack where hacked would try to redirect you from lets say google.com to his website and force you to download malware. After that your PC would get compromised.
295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does the end of the year affects the price of the bitcoin? on: November 05, 2017, 05:52:46 PM
As the end of the year approaches do you notice or do you expect any influence on the price of the Bitcoin?

Charts have shown that usually in that time of the year a lot of people cash out with their yearly profits so price goes down a few percents but nothing major. That would be a good time for short term traders to buy.
296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin mining becomes illegal world wide? on: November 05, 2017, 05:51:11 PM
That wouldn't be too bad. The difficulty will go down because large firms would close, however I doubt really that anyone would find out if you have miner in your room. Yeah it would be a risk but for example piracy is illegal today in most of the countries but still if you download a movie its a small chance that they will come after small fish like you.
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone knows which exchange will support next fork (Segwit)??? on: November 05, 2017, 05:48:57 PM
.Bitfinex,Bloclchain.info,Coinbase,HitBTC,OkCoin,Huobi would fully support segwit 2x.It seems almost two chinese exchanges support segwit 2x.Some exchanges have not clearly declared their stand.

Bittrex has almost supported all hard forks and so,we could expect it to support segwit 2x also.

Out of these, coinbase is a reputed exchange.

It seems that this hard fork if it occurs is supported by more exchanges than before hard forks.

Where have you found info that Bloclchain.info will support Segwit2X ? They did not support any fork so far so why do you think they will support this one ? Is that just your speculation or have you found a fact ?
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone knows which exchange will support next fork (Segwit)??? on: November 05, 2017, 04:12:28 PM
Ok .. thanks, I'm waiting for the possible bittrex announce

Well if you want to trade it you already have HitBTC (not really reputable but...). If you are looking for place to store your coins you are best off creating new wallet (Electrum for example) where you hold private key. That way you will get your coins no matter what.
299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fee and Bitcoin on: November 05, 2017, 04:10:36 PM
Amount of fee is going just to miners. And that's it!
Don't worry about you question - there are 21 millions of bitcoins.
But... if somebody lost wallet bitcoins will gone forever. So amount of bitcoins will reduce time by time because this reason...
that mean number of Bitcoin less than 21 Million because many old members they lost them Bitcoin and mining be hard how can bitcoin solve this problem ?

That is correct but it's not necessarily a problem. It's a good thing actually. It lowers the supply making the price higher. If you think about it really, the more people lose their wallets with BTC in them it's better for us that hold BTC  Grin
