281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Ethereum be Forked Your Opinion (Poll) on: June 23, 2016, 11:04:12 AM
..democratic majority..

Is that what 'Do whatever Vitalik says we should do' is now ?

..and take the winnings or losses on the chin.

That's EXACTLY what you're not doing.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Ethereum be Forked Your Opinion (Poll) on: June 23, 2016, 10:11:56 AM
Yeah it's not pure spite attempting the heist in the first place. Maybe the attacker could be made a saint just to please all you BTC Spoetniktard goon shills.

you may be one of the most disappointing elements of all this.

Just facile, short-sighted, narcissistic shit oozing from your every orifice. Grim.

..

I hold ETH. I love-d ETH. This is NOT cool.

It's ANTI-cool.
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Ethereum be Forked Your Opinion (Poll) on: June 23, 2016, 09:56:36 AM
There is NO WAY they will not do the hard-fork, if they do the soft-fork.

The soft fork simply stops the attacker getting the funds..

The hard fork gets ALL the ETH back.

the first without the second is pure spite.

..

..

this whole thing is so disappointing..
284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man cannot make what man cannot break. on: June 23, 2016, 12:07:06 AM
man has made encryption using just his brain. and just his fingers.. but he cannot break encryption using just his brain and fingers

I bet you all today's encryption is broken in 20 years.

Man can eat soup.
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Man cannot make what man cannot break. on: June 22, 2016, 11:50:36 PM
Is this statement true ?
286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The failure of Ethereum is complete - it is now a mere permissioned spreadsheet. on: June 21, 2016, 11:10:18 AM
The soft fork code is already in the latest GETH..
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The failure of Ethereum is complete - it is now a mere permissioned spreadsheet. on: June 21, 2016, 09:56:01 AM
IF their actions only affected Ethereum, I wouldn't mind.. Let them play.

But I think this will change people's fundamental perception of all crypto.

And not in a good way..  Cry

A small, mini-chain with a handful of users, sure.. pork-fork away.

But if the 2nd largest 'decentralised' chain can pull this shit off, it's on the table now for any and all coins to come.

..

And the truth is, it is now, and always was. We just didn't realise how close to the edge we were.

( I am a little shocked at how quickly/easily the ETH miners are accepting this though.. That I did not expect. Too much faith in Humanity. Fool that I am.. )
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Hacking of More Than $50 Million Dashes Hopes in the World of Virtual Currency on: June 20, 2016, 11:10:51 AM
It wasn't a 'hack'.

The only thing that is 'Dashing Hopes in the World of Virtual Currency' is the vomit-inducing 'Let's Fork' response by the ETH Elite.

Vitalik and other developers can only make suggestions to the Etheruem community. The community can decide if the fork happens.

Not true.

When Vitalik says - 'I think we should this'.. almost EVERYONE will do that. He has so much sway that his every utterance has almost un-matchable weight.

It sounds like a simple suggestion, but it's not. It is far more than that.

..

Satoshi was absolutely correct, whether intentionally or not, when he stepped back. He would have the same clout in Bitcoin land, whether he was right or wrong. Very Dangerous. (ps  I think Vitalik is wrong in this case.)
289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Hacking of More Than $50 Million Dashes Hopes in the World of Virtual Currency on: June 20, 2016, 10:15:36 AM
LOL.

Just realised this thread was 'relegated' to the 'Altcoin' section.. haha.. same old same old.

I would say that this does affect ALL crypto. Including BTC.

There you go.

291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The ONLY solution to the ETH/DAO conundrum.. on: June 18, 2016, 04:53:50 PM
Well.. 24 hrs sure is a long time in crypto land.

As Ethereum worries about the 'piddly' 50 mil 'contractually' obtained from the DAO 'Sloppy' Contract (not sure you could call it Smart).. the ETH market cap has dropped 100's of millions of dollars.

This is NOT because ETH is at fault, or has been hacked, or has behaved abnormally.

But the ridiculous response from the ETH Elite that they will now reverse / fork / magic-away the results of a contract run on their network.

..

There is only one response from the ETH Elite that can save Ethereum.

Stay well away.

This is not your fight. ETH can and will be fine. If it had been a bug in the EVM, fork-away. It wasn't, and all you have done with your meddling is destroy any trust anyone had, in running a trust-less system.

What next ? When will you next decide to fork-away the unwanted.. When will a government decide to force you to fork.. How can you even speak in this way about a decentralised system without  admitting that the system is NOT decentralised ?

Will every Smart Contract to come be surrounded by legal jargon saying that - if you do something 'we' didn't think of - it's illegal !? .. there is more at stake here than just DAO.

..

'.. You've already done enough damage... This mission is OVER.. This mission IS OVER!! ..   .. ( Slams table hard with hand ) .. '

Please, walk away. It's that simple.

..

And as for the DAO.. write better code next time.
292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What happens to the DAO tokens after the reset ? on: June 17, 2016, 03:27:28 PM
Now that Tual has stated that DAO is going to be shut down, and that people who invested will get there money back, what happens to anyone holding DAO they bought on POLONIEX.. but didn't invest initially  ?

Is it 1:1.. ?

Can't be.. is it 1000:1 ? Hmm..

What is the price ?

What happens to the DAO tokens ?
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CRITICAL UPDATE Re: DAO Vulnerability on: June 17, 2016, 02:18:46 PM
The amount of coins stolen by the thief will be invalidated. There will be no loss to the DAO owners according to the developers.

!??!?!

The WORST thing they could do.. I'm sorry lads, but that is really VERY bad. Anyone could be next.. don't piss the ETH devs off.

'Too Big To Fail'.. in our own back yard..  Cry
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DAO being dissolved - what do you think people will do with all that ETH on: June 17, 2016, 02:13:40 PM
So.. now 'they' are going to 'convert' (shutdown) DAO into a simple contract that allows you to withdraw your funds and nothing more..

https://twitter.com/DanDarkPill/status/743789597482692608

How in 'Holy Hell' are they able to completely rewrite the ETH code when it was meant to be a  completely Decentralised Autonomous Organisation.. !?

I just don't get it..

Me thinks someone has more power over this DAO than they should have.. or anyone thought they would have.

How. Is. Possible..

For a start Javascript is about the worst possible language you could use to code anything in..

x1000..

297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: June 17, 2016, 11:32:38 AM
Eh?

They are saying -

1) Blacklist the address with a soft fork - so hacker can't cash out.

2) Then wait and do a hard fork to get the Ether back.

It doesn't seem like DAO can recover the funds in a straight forward way..

..

I don't like.

I feel for those who lost, BUT this could be done to ANYBODY, for any reason, and all it took was Vitalik and Co's say so.. So Ethereum could be coerced with 1, maybe 2, guns to a couple of heads..

That's not cool. (And it's certainly not decentralised)

AGAIN - 'Ethereum' should stay well away. This is none of your business. Your network is doing exactly what it was meant to. And running fine. Let the chips fall.
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DAOXXED.. on: June 17, 2016, 11:17:59 AM
so how dao work why etheruem is dumped if only dao is hacked?

Because you can split DAO tokens and get your ETH back.  So the hacker figured out an exploit that allowed him to gain access to the splitting process to withdraw everyones ETH from the DAO.  Obviously this wouldn't be good if he manages to sell them.

Part of me is ashamed to say that the programmer in me is 'slightly' impressed by the hacker.. sorry..
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: June 17, 2016, 11:04:35 AM

This is very interesting..

As they say - IF they can somehow 'FIX' this.. (rollback / blacklist / some other thing) it means any government that wants it's ETH back can 'FIX' that too.. very dangerous.

I think Ethereum should 'NOT GET INVOLVED'. At all. The truth is that the ETH network is running completely fine.

Let DAO sort it out if they can. And if not.. a lesson learned.

hmm..

This will probably send us(crypto) back a few years in credibility though.. Sad

300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: June 17, 2016, 10:41:48 AM
Hmm..

IF they do a roll-back.. what happens to all the ETH put in exchanges and sold in the period that get's 'reset'.. ?
