281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKitties proves Ethereum and it will only get better. on: December 11, 2017, 01:30:30 AM
CK forces quicker dev of capacity tech or ETH so good.

Its kinda of funny though all these serious apps, and first blockbuster app is......Crypto Kitties, which must now forever be stored in the block chain.

I think CK may the app to actually make IOTA work!
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Lite Coin surgeing why? on: December 11, 2017, 01:27:12 AM
Don't get me wrong I like LTC but why the recent surge?
283  Economy / Economics / Re: The $1 Million Dollar Bitcoin on: December 08, 2017, 08:31:19 AM
in few months. the bitcoin has rises much price and that is not expected by everyone. if bitcoin is not expected to get a million dollars or half. i think it is not impossible to get it in a year. if bitcoin will continue the way it was happening right now. the bitcoin will reach that possibly

I have to admit, I though there would be a crash at 3000, 5000, 10000,.......back to 1/2 or 2/3 of value.....I am now well just wondering where the top is? 50K, 70K?Huh? I really don't know......anymore.....

longer term 1ook and 1M is inevitable. However 2 ~ 3 massive crashes in between with 1000's of BTC is dead stories, which will just concetrate the people who HODL.
284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH view on BTC at the moment on: December 08, 2017, 08:26:42 AM
BCH miners and pumpers regret for being naive to move out from BTC and now they decided to comeback to the other side..

yeah....would have lost a a lot of money right now...their pockets must be pretty empty....and honestly they were trying to do something good...! give us choice and options

Only in their minds. What they are really doing is trying to divide the community and trying to make all kinds of publicity stunts saying that bitcoin cash is the real bitcoin.

Is attacking bitcoin what you call good?

They also have the scammer Craig Wright on their side.

ok yeah I see what you mean....but they are giving us big block options, the failure so scale at all on chain via blocksize for btc is an issue as well. even if its a fractional amount, to a proposed g(x). (ignoring SW)

That is not what I am referring to. Bigger blocks is not an issue for me, it is confusing the general public what is bitcoin and what is not. But before we can go further, let me ask you these questions.

Is bitcoin cash an altcoin for you or not?

Also is Craig Wright the real Satoshi Nakamoto?

Craig Wright has not signed SN addresses, so until he does he lacks proof. BTC allows people to prove how they say they are very easily.

He does not seem like SN is my view. He does not behave like SN. However the Federal Police kicked his door in, so that does make him look more legit, though we all know why that really happened, yes I am talking to you Mr. High enough up in the Federal police, officer, who conviently took say x thousand unsecured btc from hard drives that were handed to you....

I am agnostic as to "BCH alt" "BTC alt" it not a proper description, nor is it a binary question. Say one is original or not is irrelevant.

Rather, they are protocols with different attributes, and you end up on both if you had BTC b4 the fork.

I am not bothered by so called general publics confusion, again not really a valid descriptor popular but not valid. I rather believe each individual can apply themselves to the limit of their interest and ability.

it is not going to happen it again,  just becaus of that. The whole market is prepared to face that situation, and if it drops a twenty or thirty percent, there is nothing to be worried about, because the price was 40 percent lower a few weeks ago (one or so)

It's easy to feel that way when it's firing off in every direction.

Who knows? Maybe this has barely started to truly warm up, but there are two phrases that should never go unnoticed - 'this time it's different' and 'new paradigm'.

In certain ways it's just as primed for a giant plunge, perhaps even more so. Professional money wants in and they have enough handle on their psychology to buy with both hands when it's in the shitter. There are enough excitable noobs to feed them all the coins they want if they're sufficiently spooked.
true true, though strong hands have be selected for since th 2011, 2013 and other dumps.....so you have an unusually strong cohort of hodlers.....versus a normal asset.

Everyone that was going to see on a 10 fold loss, in a few days has been washed out twice.

So I wonder what the BCH camp is thinking about the BTC rise at the moment?

They are trying to keep up with it, burning copious amounts of money to keep bcash relevant.
And the higher bitcoin goes the harder it will be on bcash.
They are lucky they can pump and keep it's liquidity with 0 fee's for the moment, but bitcoin is going to kill bcash in this pace  Grin

I kinda felt there was some massive effort to do this....that said I do not disagree that bigger blocks are better and there must be some block size increase plus I feel segwit.

there must be a family of graphs that give  a good blocksize increase
290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Well, have to say it bitcoin is Appreciating like an alt on: December 06, 2017, 11:51:35 PM

But a new 2013? it is not going to happen.

Not happen in what way? You mean the hyper bear market?

Let's see.

Of course almost every fundamental is now different but human psychology never changes.

the blockchain does not care about human psychology, finally we are free of that pseudo science. It rewards low entropic systems and destroys high entropy systems, eg bad tax, funding, financial models

Its been a long time since I saw a BTC up swing 18% in 24 hrs on CMC.......

its like 2013 in here.

Caution I have always seen btc fall a lot faster than in appreciates, at this point it could do 40% in a day and then dead cat bounce, the question remains fall from what 50K? to 20K? or some such.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: December 06, 2017, 01:01:26 PM
So with this recent bull market nem has not really done much of anything, good or bad. It gains and loses a few cents here and there, but otherwise stays pretty stable. Meanwhile almost 200 BILLION has flowed into the crypto scene and it seems like every other coin has ridden the wave up EXCEPT nem. From #5 to the very real possibility of being #16 in the next day or two is a pretty big fall. It sucks that we weren't able to capitalize on this huge swing upward. When the inevitable downward turn for the overall market comes we're gonna be in even worse position than we were before.

nem has actually improved its market cap, quite well,

whats happened is a few BTC forks have happened which insta capped, iota, and Cardano or whatever its called but I am not so sure about its veracity
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: December 06, 2017, 12:57:08 PM
one thing about nem...the thing actually works well including the wallet and system
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 06, 2017, 12:55:24 PM
Hi devs, sorry to disturb you in your dollars mattress but you have taken (hacked ?) my iota from my wallet.
I'm not a softaware engineer, i try to reclaim but since 2 weeks, nothing back.

I don't want to give my iota to your foundation, if you see what i mean...

I'm in since your nxt assets, but now it's enough !

ok try and put seed into your wallet, and just attach more addresses, this may get it back
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 06, 2017, 12:19:34 AM
byteball next,

also why does the byteball wallet seem to work a lot better?
297  Economy / Economics / Shorting BTC on: December 05, 2017, 06:08:48 PM
Can someone run through how they see shorting BTC will work.

An I mean the mechanics of it, not that "I can short this" but how will it actually happen

[1] Say bob is a miner, he sells a contract for future bitcoin at $10K USD because thats the minimum he needs to make a profit to pay of mining equipment. The market price is now say $14K, but bob wants to hedge his bets. If the bitcoin is sold at 10K in the future how does this short the market, because as of yet no bitcoin has been sold or made. Come the delivery date if the price is 20K then the buyer can sell onto the market for 20K all the way down to 10K for a profit.

[A] there are 3 problems, with this mining is  <<<< volume than daily volume.

[B.] I don't think any miner would sell like this or not a significant proportion of them to have any effect.

[C] I don't think a miner would honour the contract, and you could not force him to. So it would a make a futures contact worthless any way

[D] As far as I can tell, people who want to short must take delivery of BTC, otherwise they fail on delivery when contract falls due or roll over, so it looks like the whole futures market will not be rigable as per usual.

[2] If I have 1 btc now and I want to ensure my price sell a contract for 3 month in the future at market price the shorter can not win by a price loss or force the price down, they must pay me agreed price in 3 months, even if the price has gone down so they support the markter. If the market goes up they can only sell down to the buy price (plus inflation). So they don't seem to be able to "short beyond any by price".

[E] How does the buyer enforce delivery in 3 months? Escrow, then whats the point of not selling at market rate now and taking the FIAT?

For things like crops where there can be overproduction better wether worse wether ok futures may work to hedge risk. But BTC has  know money supply that cannot be varied any more than a few %

It seems to me BTC is going to kill of all the FIAT and FIAT traders in futures who really don't understand what they are dealing with.

Any way if some one can run through this would be great

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/04/bitcoin-is-a-dangerous-speculative-bubble-yale-expert-says.html

I love this guy and how bitcoin keeps unmasking the ignorant.

BTC may have features of a "security" but its not a security, its a currency, ledger, commodity, security, trust machine, protocol and more.

This guy needs a bit of a history lesson as to where thing did go vertical and never came back

eg

[1] Almost every technology curve ever

[2] weimar republic (mark)

Sure btc may have a correcting, but its going to 100K then onto 1M
