661  Economy / Speculation / IF eth takes over from BTC will BTC then face a relative colapse? on: May 31, 2017, 01:59:09 AM

662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Block support at 50% on: May 31, 2017, 01:46:23 AM
Jihan threatened to fork at 51% anyway but we'll see...

Jihan is nothing more than a keyboard warrior. Everyone knows that allowing a fork to initiate at 51% comes with risks being far too high. I don't believe he will potentially jeopardise his operations just to gamble on a positive outcome. If he's (or they with RV added) ever going to initiate a fork, he (they) will likely wait till 65-70% is reached. At least, that would make a whole lot more sense.

depends how much eth Jihan holds....ever think that through?
663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So....Bitcoin the new alt Eth the main? on: May 31, 2017, 01:29:00 AM
Don't try to guess the markets. Instead, look at what the markets are telling you. BTC dominance is nearing 40%. ETH is making new highs and still going strong. Alts are doing great and making lots of progress. The market is telling you not to put all your eggs in the BTC basket.

That is good advice. We shouldn't keep all our funds in any single product because it is very high risk. Also, we shouldn't invest only in cryptocurrencies but also consider investing in other asset classes as well. The more you diversify chances of losing money will reduce in the longer run.

I agree, its seems however that some BTC rs do not see it this way.
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So....Bitcoin the new alt Eth the main? on: May 31, 2017, 01:21:17 AM
The thing that is really hilarious to me in this thread is the blatant disregard that Ethereum is not supposed to be used as a straight up currency like Bitcoin is supposed to be used for.

Yes I understand that it has monetary value attached to the token, but it isn't supposed to be used as a digital cash.  It's an app token, so to say that it will overtake Bitcoin as the "main chain" is kind of ridiculous to me. Eth is their own entity.

wait what? you did not catch on that was just cover to stop a flame war between ETH and BTC camp. Of course it falls out of eth that it can be used as digital cash if you want.

ETH focused of "not being [just] digital cash" but sold itself of being programmable cash and dev friendly.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is declining as top crypto currency. Why? on: May 31, 2017, 12:58:15 AM
BTC is pseudo anonymous, there are other coins as solution for not be traceable.
Who said anything about tracing transactions and staying anonymous? I think you blew too much to day sweetie.  Wink

This is a cheesy matter, anyone could launch a new coin and have a %90 pre-mine and starts mining the %10 remaining.

Then all it takes for it to even surpass Bitcoin is to put a fake price at a major exchanging service and you got your

$200 billion dollar coin with that much of a market share, while other coins such as ETH and Ripple are being manipulated

By traders and there is no actual use for them not like Bitcoin, they are just pumping and dumping, can't you guys see?

no its not like that. It's more of a zietgiest change.

once you have more nodes, more volume, higher cap, more dev, tokens being issued, its passes a point where the disbelief that anything could take the place of BTC may set in.

Sort of like how a baby soon forgoes the need to crawl once it can walk and then run, hesitant, disbelieving itself at first, stumbling maybe, but then all so quickly.....
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is declining as top crypto currency. Why? on: May 31, 2017, 12:33:01 AM
Why do you guys think Bitcoin is declining in popularity? Looks like Ethereum will pass it.
In your dreams son, ethereum is just token with unlimited supply. People will soon find out and will abandon this project of crazy russian kiddo Smiley.
Bitcoin is store of vlaue, money, so much more than any other crypto. But its good that some think otherwise, more BTC for true believers.

And it is this mentality that is the problem. ETH use case is not defined bu VB, ETH can be use as store of value an away to co-ordinate real life actions, business etc. ETH does not (yet) face the intractable problems BTC has in dev.

This last fact is inmho, suicide in tech. Dev stalled.

I am sure there are some miners that are now thinking long and hard about position as well as some of the core. Mainly the ones that did not diversify out into eth.

It could be part of the scaling issues was in-part caused with someone with a large stake in eth....
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So....Bitcoin the new alt Eth the main? on: May 31, 2017, 12:20:42 AM
Its very possible since eth has a bigger coins in circulation compared to bitcoin. As of now, bitcoin is still the number one in terms of market capitalization. What the Eth had surpassed from bitcoin is the daily trading volume. In coinmarketcap Eth is at $1,581,960,000 volume in 24 hrs while bitcoin is at $1,440,320,000.

I really really hate what BU and Core camps and all those similar have done.

I feel that BTC is more "open" / free than eth, due to the lack of on boarding of the large companies, satoshi being anon, the ETC fork makes me feel that the ETH chain is not as sacrosanct as BTC has been....

perhaps this is nostalgia.....its hard to argue with the send rate, dev rate and number of tokens being issued on ETH.
668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / So....Bitcoin the new alt Eth the main? on: May 31, 2017, 12:06:57 AM
It looks like actors in the BTC sphere have thrown their crown away.....

It seems ETH will become the largest market cap now....its pretty much a forgone conclusion, and despite the paucity of that measure, its the one that sticks in peoples minds and become as self fulfilling prophecy.

Whether ETH will retain that position is a different question.

Well done BU, well done Core.

671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit agreement with >80% miner agreement. on: May 28, 2017, 02:25:16 PM
Ok I have posted this a few times....

Why can we not merge mine segwit, BU, and whatever else with BTC as it stands now, with the same distribution of coins, and just let the market decide which one has more value,

every one wins!
No matter how many threads you post it on, it still remains nonsense.

Merge mining and forks simply don't work that way. Merged mine coins do so voluntarily on the back of a real coin that has a high degree of compatibility. Segwit and BU would be completely incompatible and obviously neither would want to ride on the back of the other.

ok i c i though they could make the essentials compatible ...  i don't think anyone has to ride anyone just comes down to how many miners run the mm insatiation.

674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Small fortune, now which country ? on: May 27, 2017, 03:58:44 AM
I think Oceania is a good place to live, but I don't know if people there wants foreigners moving themselves to their countries. New Zealand seems a nice place, Australia too, and they are Bitcoin friendly as I know.

As you have money, you can choose where to go, congratulations, you are free to choose your destiny, don't listen only people here, but go to where you think it will be good for you... Check some nice places, read about them.

Good luck in Australia

You need 3 million to buy a place you want to live now
675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear Trap on: May 27, 2017, 12:50:29 AM
This did not look like a full blown epic rise, I would have thought 4.5~7K would be the bubble, and then the cliff fall back to 2xxx, this could be a bear trap the whole thing seems to be fairly short and subdued, vs say $2~ 17,  $30 to $250, 120 ~ 1100,

I completely agree. I wrote a post about this the other day explaining in detail why:

1. this is a bubble
2. this is not the peak

https://www.facebook.com/BCTPredictions/posts/881948598612117

gotta switch the C and T in the link, wont' let me post otherwise for some reason

Interesting, I think that BTC is a bit diff to any preceding asset class, ie its not like dot.com, because BTC is aimed at the finacial systems and money itself.

I think its more like light bulbs replacing candles in the west at least, people just don't use candles anymore, electrical light took the market.

I saw a graph recently of the dot.com bubble and its just a rounding error on the background of the larger financial/banking markets.

BTC is occupying a % of the entire financial system. That puts it into the x number of trillions fairly easily.

677  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be an epic dump? on: May 27, 2017, 12:14:15 AM
I think the dump now is healthy .... it did not moon so much, and is not dumping is no to bad ... yet.
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tell me bitcoins well go to 10,000 $ to 13,000$ this year? on: May 26, 2017, 12:15:07 PM
stop wanting to get rich with bitcoin and start buying it. bitcoin is not going to make you rich.
start educating yourself on what bitcoin is and how you can stop thinking about what its USD value is and start thinking how you can benefit from using bitcoin as a currency. and that is when bitcoin value will rise not by you just holding it in your wallet.

wait wanting to be rich is ok, it usually means you have to build, do, see something worthwhile that's others don't dont. And sure USD scale why not.

Perhaps you maybe meaning it to hold btc you have to have a different mind set as you would find it hard to handle the swings in btc, unless you have the right mind set.
679  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price of Bitcoin in 2020 on: May 25, 2017, 11:05:28 PM
I think you graph is to compressed on the x, it makes it look artifically steep versus time that people are used to.

Any graph can be made to look steep in time -->0
680  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC market cap is now $40,000,000,000 on: May 25, 2017, 02:44:39 PM
40B is  drop in the bucket for what BTC can do vs banks and financial mkts.

400B is a good sized company.

get back to me when its 4T~40T, takeing a good chunk from gov/expenditure, financial mkts, banking, gold
