281  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] BITBILL 5 BTC *Redeemed* Beta 2011 on: March 26, 2024, 12:30:06 AM
Damn, very nice. I have been thinking of selling my redeemed 1BTC BB, but just too hard to part with. I cant remember ever seeing an empty green BB for sale. Should get a nice haul.

Edit: assuming you’re fine with using an escrow?
282  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dont chase your loss on: March 25, 2024, 06:14:14 PM
I would say this concept is as old as time gets. So many people tend to think that there next bet is going to be “the winners”. Honestly gambling habits by those whom can’t help themselves truly is a mental sickness and not just people doing things fully cognitive , but others simply have some sort of brain sickness and not just simply reckless,
283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin could speak ... on: March 25, 2024, 06:09:13 PM
It bitcoin could speak I would ask it about when it came up with the idea and how long it took them to finally figure out the whole double spending issue. I am still just so amazed by the fact that Satoshi was able remain anonymous. I sure hope that we never find out. I would also ask it how it feels of big blocks vs small lol.
284  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: March 25, 2024, 05:49:21 AM
I really hope so many will wake up and see Elon for who he really is.  I cringe when people call him the real life Tony Stark (Iron Man).  The guys never made a hamburger, let alone a car or a rocket or a payment system..not shit.  Is he incredibly good at being a salesmen..one the all time greatest..but I think his ego talked him in to buying twitter, which was not a good investment, the place is still an utter cesspool of bullshit, hatred, racism, bigotry etc etc.  He is not the right guy to run that company. I just do not get the appeal in the man one tiny bit.
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a scam on: March 25, 2024, 05:44:53 AM
If you don't understand why JP Morgan Chase Bank CEO Jamie Dimon calls bitcoin a scam relentlessly, or why Warren Buffet calls bitcoin absolutely worthless..then make sure you find out why.  These two men are are wildly successful, but shrude cut throat businessmen and while everyone with a brain knows Jamie Dimon is human scum who'd steal a dollar from a starving puppy in line for a bone, many think old sweet man Warren is too.  Look deeper.  These two call bitcoin a scam for a reason, and it's because it isn't one.
286  Economy / Economics / Re: Early exposure of children to wealth and investments on: March 25, 2024, 05:39:21 AM
I am a prime example of how raising your children and staring them on everything possible as early as possible is life changing.  My father was an extremely successful guy who was very investment savvy.  I remember being 7-8 years old seeing him sit at his computer placing stock trades.  I remember him teaching me, and it just being so damn confusing and I'll never forget saying "I'll never understand this stuff, it's so interesting and cool but man, I can't wrap my brain around it".  Well now it's what I do for a living, teach people about investing, as a financial advisor.  I take great pride in being an ethical advisor and doing things the right way.  I have my father to thank, I just wish he'd have been around to see it.  So heck yes, there's absolutely nothing wrong with teaching them at age 1!  I kid, but seriously.  My favorite legendary hacktavist's father use to play educational tapes for him when he was a baby in the crib.  His mother thought he was nuts.  The guy become a genius programmer, and Mr Robot the tv show in part is based off of him.  It's never to early for those of you parents in this thread.  Of course don't shove it down their throats, but introduce all sorts of stuff to them.  It will pay off.
287  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈 The United Football League (UFL) 2024 Thread 🏈 on: March 25, 2024, 04:50:26 AM
So I looked into it a bit and it appears there are several cable and streaming options available for watching UFL games. The only problem for me is that they start mostly at the worst times possible.. Only "early" games, no "late" games.

How to watch the UFL

The UFL is going to be readily available for anyone who wants to watch it, as all games are going to air on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, Fox or FS1.

All of the networks are pretty readily available through traditional pay-TV subscriptions and live TV streaming services; Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV all carry both Fox and ESPN as part of their channel lineups.

I have no idea what YouTube TV is, but guess I'll take a look at it & attempt to determine if its a total ripoff or not. I know there's also the sketchy free streaming service links but have no idea what URL they go by these days.

Television as we knew it just a few years ago, and for many of us, our entire lives growing up is quickly fading in to the history books.  Cable providers like Xfinity (really their name is Comcast but they are so hated they rebranded a few years back), DirectTV, a satelite provider who was once great until the criminals at AT&T bought it and ruined it, and Dish Network are fading out as they are too expensive and steaming is the new norm.  Now some of them will likely become steaming platforms, and hell may be already, but YouTube TV and Sling, pure streaming services where you get no boxes, satelite dishes, remote controls or anything are becoming the go to for many.  It was okay at first but they are both already getting way too expensive , limited channels, bs pricing for stuff like 4K (which isn't even legit 4k yet, and wont be for years), and then like my YT TV bill which isl ike 80 USD a month includes nothing like HBO, Netflix etc.  I thought a la cart TV would be awesome...just the opposite..course.
288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International break's in football. on: March 25, 2024, 04:44:20 AM
You guys outside the US think that's bad, Image how us Americans feel for 8 freaking months without NFL football.  Sure NBA basketball is huge here (of course the globes second most popular sport) and a lot of us love MLB Baseball, but NFL football is what many of us live for, especially now that gambling is legal here nationwide and fantasy football ( a form of gambling, of course) is absolutely massive.  People use to get fired for looking at their fantasy teams at work, now most of us have a work fantasy league.  We are currently in the hell zone lol.

Really sweet Hox!!  I will be throwing in some bids.

Do you have or still make those coin/chip cover info card deals anymore? I especially liked the BTCC chip ones. Would like a few for my chips (half of which I got through your website..the very site I made a serious contribution to with 3-5 lines of broken code years ago lol. )
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New EU AML ban bitcoin anonymous payment on: March 24, 2024, 01:29:12 AM
The one alt that I've been a big fan of is Monero, but I knew that it would have very limited upside  price wise as governments would eventually shut down the allowance of exchanges to to transact it (buy/sell), and that's exactly whats happening.  It's also why I've been dead set against bitcoin ever being anonymous (cracks me up so many articles to this day claim that it is smh).  Because it would never get to where it's gotten had it been. I find it interesting that so many still don't see this or argue against it not being anonymous.  If you want that, buy/use monero.

I think there will always be ways to make btc transactions much more difficult to follow/track.  I dont have the expertise to say this with any confidence but would imagine so.

Banning transactions of over 10k cash...the EU...eastern world dictator type bs there.  If you have a transaction over 3k, you have to report it.  No one one will.

.
291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: March 24, 2024, 01:12:26 AM
If you're poor you shouldn't be betting a single freaking cent/satoshi on any gambling what so ever.  It will only make things worse, in almost damn near full probability.  Here in the US we've got video poker /slot machine parlors all freaking over the place.  There is more slot machine parlors in my city than any other kind of business by far.  Not to mention in most restaurants, gas stations etc. If you visit them, the type of people that are always there...poor people.  Same as the majority of people who buy lotto tickets and scratch offs. If you're poor, invest that money in your life, in your future, not in a low odds game or chance.  When  I see people buying a scratch off I can't help but think how much better that money would be spent taking a shot on some cheap shitcoin.
292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your take? on: March 24, 2024, 01:00:28 AM
So I'm a US citizen and don't watch much EU football ( though I like champions league) so my experience comes form the other football here in the US.  I don't bet based on odds what so ever.  I bet based on my feelings of how the game will go in my mind versus whatever the spreads are.  I mean I know that's odds, but I don't base how much I bet on the odds, but rather how confident I am in my side of the bet. Regardless of payout.  I've been betting US football for maybe 10 years or so now, and I have yet to come out of a season being in the red.  So, it works for me.  Though I don't bet crazy amounts or anything.

@ChiBitCTy. On the Chargers fans, do they have some of them left supporting the team? I am only joking hehehe, however, the Chargers do not have a Stadium that they call their very own. Their real fans are in a city 1 hour away in San Diego.

In any case, this is a transcript about a conversation on Justin Herbert and should fantasy managers be worried about him. I reckon he might shock everyone. They will not win the conference but new coach argument implies that they will enter the playoff.

https://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy-managers-worried-chargers-qb-214523764.html

I still call them the San Diego chargers, I am having a hard time shaking that lol.  They may have to share a stadium, but it's the nicest one in the league.  I'll share a stadium over the pos dump that is solider field any day.  Though we will be getting a new stadium sometime this decade..I wish it would be at the Arlington Heights land the Bears bought from the old race track company, but they can't come to an agreement on taxes w/the city council apparently. Ridiculous as it's a perfect location.
294  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] 2013 Casascius 0.1 BTC silver, loaded on: March 23, 2024, 10:56:50 PM
Wasn't the .1 Cas Silver the rarest produced, maybe version 1? I'm trying to remember if anyone else does.

Edit: Nevermind, it was the .5 Cas I was thinking of.

2012 had 8, 2014 37 and 2013 764.  Technically the rarest Cas ever produced is the 10k LTC 1 of 1 bar made for Charlie Lee. Truth is no one knows for 100%  sure about any of the mintages (*err most of them). Not sure Mike does himself.
295  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius coins - opinions on future view. on: March 22, 2024, 11:59:55 PM
1) This question depends on how you value the coin. I’ve always valued things I buy in USD along with the rest of the world. Casascius coins are no different. So while it’s cute to talk about when to get the most BTC premium, taxes and reality would dictate you value it in USD and I’d recommend trying to get the most USD possible when selling. The number one factor in how much $ you get is the Bitcoin exchange rate and this is why peeling can be better than selling at a premium because you have more control over when you cash out and no risk of shipping.

2) I’d recommend keeping them at a bank out of state. Downsides being you’ll never see them and definitely won’t ever show anyone. You don’t want easy access to your Casascius coins.

3) Grading has historically been pretty worthless. They can’t spot fakes and their grades are all over the place. If you resubmit a coin it will get a different grade the second time. Not to mention more hands on it and more shipments is never a good idea. I am a minority in this view, but I would recommend avoiding grading.

4) Selling on the forum with escrow is the preferred method historically. I’ve escrowed dozens over the years and never had an issue, but shipping is always scary. Auction houses are also becoming a popular option, but the fees and swings in BTC price can make this option worse than just peeling.

1) I’m with you on this. 1 Bitcoin = 1 Bitcoin just doesn’t compute for me, not yet anyhow.

3) Depends where it’s graded. You can feel extremely confident that you’ve got a real deal crypto coin when graded w ICG as they have the worlds foremost knowledge person on physical bitcoins verifying the authenticity (MJ, of course). However PCGS is the most trusted and desired slab company on the planet, so while they absolutely can’t authenticate on the level ICG does, most people won’t know that, and the value will be driven up by the prestige of the company. I personally don’t love either slab, and PCGS has been EXTREMELY unprofessional about this whole grading crypto coins now deal. Some stuff gets accepted and graded, some doesn’t, one person will reply to an email with one thing and the next email on the same topic a few hours later coming form a different employee gets a completely different answer.  NGC imo has the best slabs by far, but they suck even more as a company than PCGS.  Either which way, even ANACs slabs bring value to the coins. BUT..above all..for me it’s the coffin that keeps your coin as snug as can be and protected from the elements and that’s what I like. Grading I don’t even care about.

4) Concur. Auction houses potentially can really pay off, but then again they might not and to me it seems like such a hassle. The last Cas coin I sold I brokered through btalk, met the buyer at a very public location and it was a great experience that wouldn’t have been better any other way. But, that of course has its risks.
296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Blocksize War is still ongoing. on: March 22, 2024, 11:39:57 PM
I've been told that a testnet is just like an actual chain in "real-time" being utilized, but then others have told me it's not.

Testnet is just a network where coins have no monetary value and its purpose is to test things before deploying them to the mainnet.  It is "actual" as in "real time", but I don't see the relevance of forks or chains here.  What's the catch?

I understand that aspect of it, & I actually have some bitcoin testnet coins that I’m aware have no real value.

Have you read the title of the thread? The discussion is around block size, and I know Pooya is an expert so was speaking to the threads main discussion/topic at hand.
297  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything is over priced but people keep spending on: March 22, 2024, 11:22:52 PM
You've got a great point here and it's something I've been noticing as well.  Personally I try and take a stand against price gouging, and as you point out, if businesses keeping getting ..business, ,at higher rates, then why the heck would they ever go back.  This is what pisses me off when people will just go a long with it, which sets a trend and thing will likely never change back.  So many examples of this from resteraunts to sports tickets and on and on.
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Blocksize War is still ongoing. on: March 22, 2024, 11:19:25 PM
During the Blocksize Wars, two distinct factions emerged, represented by equally distinct chains.
Wrong. There was never a chainsplit or even a community split. Majority have so far always been on the singular chain which is called Bitcoin.

Everything else including bcash are copies of Bitcoin and there are lots of them (BCH, BSV, BTG, BTS, ...) in fact during 2017 there were at least 20 different copies created just like bcash.

Quote
At first glance, it seems that the first faction, Bitcoin, has chosen the long-term path—one where the base layer cannot scale and must ossify to remain secure and decentralized.
Wrong. Bitcoin (which is not a "faction") increased the on-chain capacity back in 2017 with the soft-fork known as SegWit.

Quote
Meanwhile, the second faction, Bitcoin Cash,
Again bcash is not a "faction" it is one out of a dozen copies created from Bitcoin which has nothing to do with it. It's just a centralized shitcoin with a mutable chain that has nothing to do with Bitcoin.

Quote
has opted for a shorter route—a path where the base layer can scale and adapt more easily, allowing immediate use by all users
Wrong.
You scale your altcoin based on demand and this altcoin has no demand as it is clear from its empty blocks. So it did not scale anything, it just has bigger block size cap that is left unreached.

Quote
Currently, on-chain transactions with Bitcoin are still feasible for moderate amounts, but they are prohibitive for smaller sums.
Similar to 2017, Bitcoin is under a spam attack that has created a congestion and triggered the mechanism that automatically battles spam attacks which is the fee market.

Quote
Bitcoin Cash scales, and I have my private keys; I don’t need to trust anyone.
You do have to trust the centralized authority that controls this centralized altcoin and can for example perform a 51% attack anytime they want to reverse transactions.

Maybe I should be asking this in the technical discussion board, and was actually thinking of starting a topic just the other day but since it's being discussed here..one thing I've always been confused about is the testnets.  I've been told that a testnet is just like an actual chain in "real-time" being utilized, but then others have told me it's not.  If a testnet was truly the same thing, then these kind of coversations/debates would be over right?  Since you could then just easily test and prove what works/what doesn't.. but, I'm certainly not an expert..
299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which player are you? on: March 22, 2024, 11:12:49 PM
Personally I don't really see sports betting as a Casino deal at all.  I mean I know it's a massive part of Casinos and what not, but it's not a game, so I see them as separate things all together.  I do more sports betting than I do playing poker or roulette or whatever I'm feeling like doing when online or at a physical casino, but I love both..poker is my all time favorite form of gambling, but it can be tedious.

Tabloid news update.

It appears that Bill Belichick is very happy with his dating life as a 71 year old man and he might not have the motivation to find another job in the NFL as a head coach for this year hehe. There was also an article mentioning that said Kyle Shanahan would accept Bill Belichick in his team as a defensive coordinator, however, this call was not answered. I am quite certain Belichik would only accept the offer if Shanahan offered Belichik his job hehehehheee.

Bill Belichick appears to be back on the dating scene.

The former Patriots coach, who mutually parted ways with the team in January after 24 seasons together, was seen having dinner with an unnamed brunette at Contessa Italian restaurant in Boston, according to a photo obtained by Deuxmoi, a pseudonymous Instagram gossip account.

It came after his split from his longtime girlfriend, Linda Holliday — who is the president of Belichick’s foundation — in September 2023.

Source https://nypost.com/2024/03/18/sports/bill-belichick-spotted-with-mystery-brunette-clearly-a-date/

I hear Robert Kraft gave him the number to his massage therapist and that's how it all began.  Okay I'm just kidding but good for Bill, that guy is wound tight as can be.  My guess is though that he only stays out for a year.  I cant see him retiring until he's like at least 80.  It's going to be odd not having him in the league this year.

In other news, I'm on cloud 9 as a Bears fan right now.  @BBC.. have to disagree with your take on Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.  The Chargers didn't want to get rid of either of them, they were in cap hell and had no other choice but to try and get keenan to restructure and had to drop Williams due to such a large cap hit.  Chargers fans are livid.. I mean I get it and don't at the same time.  Seems like a bit of mismanagement when it comes to the finances.  Keenan is a great fit in Chicago as the number two or three option and will come in as a long time vet and help a rookie QB grow.  I mean even if he gets hurt week 3, we gave up a 4th...and the Bears could still very well darft a WR coming up.  Williams also hurt often but he was pretty heavily desired before signing with the Jets.  If both can stay healthy, and I know thats a big if, they are gunna ball out.
