Learn more about the Rosewill RSV-L4000B Model

Wrestled with one of these for 4 hours today and I have my doubts.  No provision was made for two power supplies, or even 2 power cords fitting into the back grill.  No fans come with, which is okay I guess because I tend to replace them anyways.  The long horizontal fan bracket -- I really wish this were fitted to the front, not so that you had to squeeze it between cables and the motherboard towards the middle of the interior.  The fan bracket is not for 120mm fans, 80mm only, unless you want to do some custom drilling.

You can fit a HP server PSU sideways behind the bottom support bar and a full sized motherboard, so that would be nice -- if I could snake the power cord for that out a pre-punched hole in the grill, but one doesn't exist for that.  So I will have to get my tin snips out and get to work

Don't get this if you have large 3-fan EVGA 1080 Ti cards - they are too tall and their power connectors (2x8) are on the top of the card, so you won't be able to get the lid back on.  Other 1080 Ti's fit fine (Aorus, smaller EVGA 1080 Ti), 1070's are easy to work with in this case.  AMD 480/580's would be a breeze.

I would not get this model if I had to do it over.  It's bare bones and to get it working well is going to require some structural modifications.  Which I would not mind if it were cheaper and if it were not advertised specifically as a miner case.  But brilliant marketing on Rosewill's part, I guess.

I also wish it were all black instead of a black front and bare metal sides and top, but that's a minor point.

It varies from specific model to model, but we generally have found that our GTX 1060 3GB GPUs do best at somewhere in between +75-125 on the Core with Memory at stock and power limit at 80%, at least for mining Equihash based coins. 382.33 drivers

I would recomend to try -500 memory +200 core, power limit 58-59%. I'm getting smth like 280sols and just only 65w power consumption with these settings it's 4.3sol/w, better than my 1080ti which are doing only 3.9sol/w.
I noticed that lowering memory gives more power to the core what is more important in equihash.

What are your 1080 Ti settings that get you 3.9 Sol/W?
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on AM4 Platform on: July 24, 2017, 04:34:00 AM
The only advantage I see mining on a new platform like the AMD AM4 is, you will get a bit more hashrate than mining with the same devices in old generation motherboards. I have an example from myself, Mining with a 1050 ti on LGA 1150 board gave me barely 12 Mhash in Ethereum and mining with it on a LGA 1151 board gave me almost 15 Mhash.

You are correct.  1080 Ti's on my 1150, couldn't really do better than 3.0x Sol/w.  I am now getting 3.6+ Sol/w.

And the Ryzen is a decent CPU miner for the power it uses.  Not a huge difference, but enough to matter.
284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone can test these 6 Pcie slots Ryzen mobos? on: July 23, 2017, 04:50:46 PM
Any word on the x370?

I bought MSI x370 and successfully detected four GPUs but can't get the 5th to light up.

Curious if there is something I can do in the BIOS to get it to work or if this board might only do four and that's that.

Thanks.

MSI X370 will do 6 Nvidia GPUs, but it is difficult depending on your version of Windows 10 (build version).  My OEM Win10 disks were build 1507 (I think).  Lots of errors, restarts, was driving me nuts.  And that is after I installed the AMD newest chipset drivers.  What's more frustrating, is that Windows Update just crashes and fails over and over with this build version - just doesn't work with Ryzen.

Download Microsoft's "Media Creation Tool," download to ISO and make a USB boot stick (search for "Rufus bootable .ISO"), do not use the Microsoft product, just download the .iso image and use Rufus to make your Windows boot USB device.  This will take a long while to download and run through updates.  Then reinstall Windows10 using the USB stick/key only this time it will be build 1511.  Start the build with one Nvidia card in the main slot.  When you get to build 1511 (and before you install lots of software), make sure the one card is recognized and that you can mine.  You need to then launch DDU and remove all drivers and shut down, not restart.  When shut down, plug in all your other cards.  Reboot.  If Windows doesn't install the drivers, do so manually under Device Driver.

If you errors on startup, hit F11 to get to the Boot order menu and click on wherever you just installed the new version of Windows.

Beware the Microsoft Update Assistant (Blue icon) that comes with build 1511.  Takes forever and it *may* update you to the 16xx build, and if you run it again, it *may* update you to 170x build.  But you'll probably tear your hair out first.

Go to "PC Settings" > System > About: to see what build you have.  If you have build 1507 or lower, that might explain all your problems.  Update to at least 1511.

Disable Hi-Def audio in Bios.  Disable Serial/Parallel I/O.

I think, more than anything else people mention, when it comes to Ryzen and 5/6 GPUs, it is a Windows issue.
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on AM4 Platform on: July 23, 2017, 02:57:02 PM
You'll only be able to "indirect mine" as in mine altcoins and convert to Bitcoin.

A Ryzen is overkill for a dedicated mining PC but it would make sense if you have other uses.

I am not so sure.  I put together an X370 rig just to see.  With a Ryzen 7 you can mine Monero + your GPUs can mine away as well.

Two advantages:  using new cards like the 1080 Ti, I see better performance, more like 3.5 Sol/W than 3.x <lower> on an 1150 board using the exact same GPUs.  Nothing changed but the motherboard/CPU.

Also, there is a speed bump up that I notice when using the CPU to mine; that is, the GPU hash rates jumps up a little bit when mining Zcash.

And if you get the 65 watt Ryzen, when the motherboard is just idling (not mining) you'll see right away that the power draw is a bit less.

Biggest drawback to Ryzen is installing Windows 10.  If you get an old OEM disk with Win10 64-bit build 1507, for example, constant errors and freezes.  Ryzen does not become stable until Win10 build 1511 or higher.  But good luck using "Windows Update Manager" to get there.  I would say, get at least to 1511 or build 16xx, and then  stop there and mine.

Should I expect more than 700Sol/s on a 1080Ti?

Yes.  Unless it's a hybrid pos. But on any large, 3 fan 1080 Ti, yes.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: July 13, 2017, 03:54:43 AM

i found this one on system log...

Use Display Driver Unistaller to completely remove any AMD drivers, then reboot.  Repeat the process to remove any Nvidia drivers, reboot.

Then re-install Nvidia drivers.  It will probably recognize all your cards if you try that.

Give it a shot, it will only take 5 - 10 minutes.
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: June 27, 2017, 01:38:26 AM
Ran into an issue, wondering if anyone's seen something similar. Have 5 1080TI's on a win 10 setup, mobo is a gigabyte z97x-gaming 5, it has 6 pcie slots. It has an x16 slot which runs at x16, and an x16 slot running at x8, which shares bandwidth with the full x16 slot. It also has an x16 slot running at x4 speeds, sharing bandwidth with 3 other x1 slots. Toggling the x4 slot to x1 speeds in the BIOS enables it to be used with the x1 slots concurrently.

I would like to move from 5 to 6 cards, and that is where I have a problem... <snip>

Has anyone seen something like this? Seems to be a problem with the miner, as again, the card is detected by the OS/various programs, and the slot can even be used by other pcie devices, it's just that the miner doesn't use it to mine if a card is present there at the same time as a card in the x16 slot. Wasn't able to find an alternative mining program to just test and see if it would make full use of the cards in the expected manners, the few I tried didn't work very well. If anyone has a solution to this issue, would be great, or at least a suggestion of another mining program to use which can support 5+ nvidia gpus, just so I can test and see if it works on that.

Yes, I had the same issue.  Use Display Driver Uninstaller to remove all traces of the Nvidia drivers.  Shutdown.  With all 6 cards connected to the motherboard, restart.  Reinstall Nvidia drivers, wait a long while as it works through all 6 cards.  That solved the problem for me and it was driving me nuts.

Hi Sir! Can you please help me. Why does my bios doesnt have setting enable 4g? Even i updated to the latest version as of now. Please. Thank you!
[/quote]

You need to change from EZ Bios settings to > Advanced BIOS.

Then choose the <BOOT> menu.  There you will find the 'ENABLE 4G' option.

Enable 4G is *not* under the <ADVANCED> OR <TOOLS> OR <MAIN> menus.

It is under <BOOT>.

Turn enable 4G on, disable unused SATA/USB ports.  Set speed for PCIe to Gen1.

Then 7 cards will work fine.
290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using 2 Psus on: March 31, 2017, 03:39:47 AM
I use 2 PSUs for most of my rigs because the real value for PSUs is at the 750-850W range.

When you use an add2psu, one psu will become master (The one powering the motherboard) and the other will become the slave. To power off both PSUs just power off the master. - SNIP -

No offense - but you gave some terrible (and potentially dangerous) advice here.

It is VERY important that the PSU that powers the motherboard/cpu/ssd, etc is also the one that powers ALL the risers! Otherwise you can get problems where the two PSUs are kind of fighting each other to maintain whatever is the proper 12v reference to ground.

So in any two PSU system, the "master" PSU powers the motherboard/cpu/periferals + always the first GPU in the primary PCIe slot and then as many more GPUs as you are confident it can handle + ALL THE POWER TO ALL THE RISERS.

The 2nd or "slave" PSU just provides the 6/8 pin PCIe power to whatever extra GPUs the "master" isn't powering. Definitely not any power to risers or in fact anything other than 12v PCIe GPU power plugs.

If I understand what you are saying, then I disagree.  I have multiple rigs, all have 2 PSUs.  One PSU powers both motherboard power connections (24 pin and 6/8 pin), the SSD, and will typically provide power to one or two GPUs (both the 8-pin power connection AND the Molex/Sata adapter connection to the bottom of the riser card).  The other PSU supplies power to the other 4/5 GPUs, both at the 8-pin power connection AND to the card's Molex/Sata adapter.

No issues whatsoever.  Just luck on my part?  Did you ever personally experience any issues by connecting the 2nd PSU to the riser boards (not just the 8-pin GPU power connection)?

@epicfailman, @kangwie
I use two GPU, undervolted and 1261mhz-861mV core, 1950 mhz-861mV memory with 230watt at wall.
I've modify my command line in:
gatelessgate.exe --gpu-platform 0 -k nist5 -o stratum+tcp://pool.solariscoin.com:3032 -u tony_crunk.worker1 -p x -d 0,1  -I 20

with 16.22Mh each video card.
I suppouse sgminer and gatelessgate have same performance... I can try it...

niest5 depends from GPU or memory?

I got better results with SGMiner 5.5.5 than with Gateless Gate.  Intensity setting of 128 works well, intensity setting of 256 is too intense and leads to crashes.  Algorithm "talkcoin-mod" "nist5" same thing, same hashing speeds.  Set a high fixed fan speed.

My SGMiner .CONF file looks like this:

{
    "pools": [{
        "name": "Solaris",
        "url": "stratum+tcp://pool.solariscoin.com:3032",
        "user": "LoginName.WorkerName",

            "worksize": "128",
            "gpu-threads": "1",
       "gpu-powertune": "20"
    }],
    "default-profile": "solaris",
    "no-extranonce": true,
    "no-submit-stale": true,
    "temp-target": "75",
    "auto-gpu": true,
    "gpu-fan": "55",
    "temp-cutoff": "85",
    "temp-overheat": "90"
}

Try that and compare to GatelessGate.

I've tried to get hands on a z97 gaming 5 mobo but that one stock had weird issues. So I'm returning it now. I'm going to try my chances with z87 deluxe quad now. My goal is to get 7 gpu first then maybe more.

The z97 gaming 5 works great with 7 gpu for me.  Undecided

This is what I'm using as well with 2 PSUs and it runs great. Win10

Z97a Gaming 7 is even better and I don't get those weird “shell” messages on your screen, with a “startup.nsh” when you move components around.  BTW if you get this screen "startup.nsh" using MSI Gaming 5 just move the SATA connector from your hard drive to a different SATA port on your motherboard.  With one or two moves, "startup.nsh" goes away and Windows boots normally.  No need to reinstall Windows if you see this.  I have not seen this error message with the Gaming 7, which has more USB 3 ports, HDMI, power on/reset buttons right on the mother board (no need for a paperclip, no need to power on cable).

Gaming 5 is fine, but I love my Gaming 7.

So still there is no way to run 6 GPU with 16.xx drivers on win 7? 'Cause on win 10 i have random crashes or gpu hangs when on win 7 with 5 cards all works rock solid
There is no way(known to me) to run 6x480(or 470 dunno) on Win7/8/8.1.
I forgot exactly which 6xGPUs don't work, 480 or 470.

I'm running 6x 290/390 fine on 2k8(w7 server). With any(looks like) driver version.

On 2k16(w10 server).. since Aero(not Aero per ce but d3d11 desktop rendering) can't be disabled(imo), OS UI consumes more GPU. So a bit more vCore is required. At least that's what I've noticed on my rigs.

6 RX480s works very well under Windows 8.1, 5 RX480s should be no problem under Windows 7.  Try AMD releases 16.10.3, 16.11.5 or 16.12.2 but I have fan issues (random speed ups) with 16.12.2.  Use DSEO or amdpatcher.exe to sign the drivers, turn Testsiging ON using BCDEDIT commands.  Of course download Net Framework 3.5 beforehand (not 4.5/4.6/whatever) to get 6xGPU to do it's magic.  Install one card at a time, copy signed drivers over into C:/Windows/System32/drivers each time you add a new card, run 6xGPU each time you add a new card.  If you make a backup of your "signed" drivers and simply copy them over to Windows/Sytem32/drivers/ then run 6xGPU, and the reboot, should work fine.  Works fine for me.  PM me if you want all the details, but should be rock solid.   No more dreaded "THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER" :-( if you follow these steps.

Can't say about RX470s, but not a problem for RX480s.
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What do you guys do to keep mining rigs clean? on: March 20, 2017, 01:57:27 AM
How do you manage the adhesive that sticks to usb risers? Glue on my risers are getting loose and I'm tightening it using a pen. However it gets loose again quickly.

What do you mean? The sponge-like black stripe stuff on the bottom? That's only there to prevent short circuits in case someone were to be clueless enough to just put the riser on to conductive metal frames or touching any parts of the PC. I just remove mines because the heat would do it otherwise.

3M 90 adhesive will stick those black pads back on.  Home Depot carries it.

hello,
I've setup my solariscoin.conf with:

rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=18921
rpcuser=USER
rpcpassword=PASSWD
daemon=1
server=1
listen=1
mining=1
addnode=185.183.99.171
addnode=185.183.99.19

and my miner command line with:

sgminer.exe -k nist5 -o 127.0.0.1:18921 -u USER -p PASSWD
....

rpcuser= adress from wallet , -u adress from wallet, open wallet before minning for solo minning.

N00b question, but this is driving me crazy.  I've copied/pasted wallet address to rpcuser and rpcpassword.  Should I leave rpcpassword blank in the .conf file located in %appdata%?  When I launch the miner, I get "127.0.0.1 slow/down..." error message.

My wallet is running fine.  My .conf file in %appdata% looks just like the above example.  Thank you.

did you make that  config file  when wallet is open ?  try too restart you wallet and try again because i see you use the same conf. as the other one and it works for him  .

Okay, that works!  Thank you very much.

299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.2 (Windows/Linux) on: March 18, 2017, 01:01:08 AM
Well I'll get 7 280x at 117$ per pieces.. 4 are gigabyte version and the rest Asus.... They where used for mining and some of them still have warranty..  It's that a good deal?

You will have a problem finding a large enough power supply for 7 280X cards.  While it is possible to use dual power supplies, they may not provide a stable environment.  If you are in the USA, plugging the rig into the socket(s) for a single room will load the circuit to near capacity.  280X cards do a good job hashing, perhaps ~310 Sol/s.

R9 Fury cards are more expensive, but more power efficient and hash at ~460 Sols/s. A single 1600W power supply can power 4 R9 Furies and 1 or 2 smaller R9 series cards.  This is for mining Equihash, algo, not "Dual-Mining".  Dual-mining may burn up the power supply with 4 R9 Furies or 6 R9 280X cards.  You will run out of connectors for 6 or 7 R9 280X cards and a single power supply, also.  A power supply should not be loaded to full capacity if you expect to mine without it burning up.

Larger rigs are often less stable.  If this is your first build, start with 4 cards and expand.  Larger rigs are impressive, but start simple first.  Two stable four-card rigs with smaller power supplies will produce more hash at less expense, and allow you to turn on a light or make toast.  Place the rigs in separate rooms.   If you are in a college dorm, that will save the embarrassment of constant circuit overloads.      --scryptr

That's great advice.  You'll also avoid the hassle of getting 6 cards recognized properly in Windows 7/8/8.1 if the rig is running Windows.

What are you all using for ZEC wallet?

I've been sending my ZEC to my Jaxx osx wallet.  But since claymore is such a bad ass programmer, Jaxx has gotten real sluggish with all of the transactions I have going through now.

Go to settings in Jaxx, clear/reset the cache.  That helps.

Settings > reset cache

Wish I had this tip earlier!  I finally was able to get all my ZEC out of that wallet; just took hours of waiting for the app to become responsive lol.

You know there's a window wallet?

Yeah, I'm just sending to Poloniex now.  And I prefer to use osx Smiley

Search for David Mercer's Zcash - he has a good gui Windows wallet and and OSX wallet as well (I think).  Windows wallet works pretty well except that you have to be careful to deduct a bit more than the suggested fee before sending to a hardware wallet or somewhere else.  He will eventually add a "maximum" button like in Jaxx that auto-subtracts out an applicable fees.
