I only own 200 drk outside of my masternodes, so I don't have much pull. However, I will start denominating them on Friday after I wake up, Pacific time. I really like the idea of planned mixing until the volume can support mixing any time any day. So if anyone wants to join me and build up volume for those big coin holders, please do. That's this Friday and every Friday, set your coins to mixing  ok deal friday it is, as i am on a totally different time i will keep mine up and running do not have much in the open wallet in the moment but happy to support ! |

What is the point of "start many"? One can more easily take profit from holding lots of darkcoins, but having different addresses and different servers looks more stronger for darksend, even though that servers have one owner, isn't it? Agree,.. this is a really really really bad Idea.. What happens if the richest wallet opens a MN ?? .. no payment for the rest of us for months ? And those timestamps on that wallet are somewhat suspicious, even if these are 19 mn rolled up to one... I go sometimes 3-7 days without payment Not a happy camper  Ugh... the new reference nodes makes sure the others are paid as evenly as possible... There is no fundamental difference to the masternode setup other than convenience of having a single wallet and single config file. I just think this is dangerous... If the top wallets can run Mns with such ease, is that not a threat to the decentralized idea behind the coin ? Just the top 5 wallets would control 1138 nodes How is that ANY different than him splitting his wallet into 1000 coin address? It has been a well known fact the rich list could run a large number of nodes at any given time if they wanted. This will benefit very few people at the expense of the many.. The top 100+ wallets have not fired up nodes but im shure they will now ... but all those new nodes will come from so few people ... this is a security issue in my eyes ... I will benefit because I run quite a few Mnīs but I think this is playing with fire. Isn't that what we wanted !? more MN's to secure the network ? so no need to fear good when the numbers finally go up, from big bag holders or small once, at least let the numbers rise it will even out eventually ! none of the big big guys is gonna dump everything into M n's, you know how much work that would be even with the new multiple wallet setup ! relax and let it happen for now ! we are still around 600 and lets get above a 1000 soon hopefully !! |

A notion just struck me...
When denominating a large chunk that gets submitted, doesn't get enough entries, gets submitted, doesn't get enough entries... This happens hundreds of times before 3 finally show up... Does the failed entry process give anything away? It happens so much you're pretty much guaranteed to have submitted it to every masternode in the network several times before it actually happens, so couldn't just a single rogue node monitor/track large chunks through this process of repeated submissions?
The presubmission phase is where the client just says "hey, I'd like to mix these denominations here", then the masternode broadcasts a message saying it's accepting more clients. If it gets 3 of those "hey, I'd like to mix" messages, it'll tell those users to submit their actual transactions, inputs+outputs. So the system doesn't reveal any information until the actual mixing is about to happen. Look at the "dsa" and "dsq" message events in main.cpp for more info. in theory the anonymization with MN's is great, but i practice it is a pain as it seems to be so hard to find people to annon with !! can not be there a secure way that a certain amount of DRK are on the MN network (say 5000 DRK) just flying around the network (not belonging to anybody) waiting to anonymize with somebody ? that would make the process definately faster and available all the time !? |

Agreed, there definitely needs to be a step by step procedure on new updates, everything from mass emails to pools, to twitter/facebook, to updating the original post on here, etc, etc. If Evan can't do it, have someone dedicated to these sorts of tasks. I am the unofficial Darkcoin Twitter account so I may as well be the official one, too! Evan if you're reading this, I volunteer... there are people dedicated to it and everything always gets updated ! the only "loose canon" is that official twitter account and yes i mentioned it to the management already last week , there are working on some kind of automation for twitter the word definately get's out .. Twitter is well covered with Tao and me i do the G+ , FB and email Press Releases to all publications (PR if agreed upon with Dev Team) the whole idea of 2 day warning just does not work as when evan is ready he is ready ! bottom line we can definately streamline it, and we will in the future, but the word gets out and nobody is left behind ! |

What we are seeing is an interesting experiment about human nature. When crypto was first invented most of the people who got involved with it were privacy conscious libertarian geeks who hated the monopoly of rich bankers. These geeks saw these bankers as greedy bastards who didn't give a shit about anything but their profit..
And then things moved faster..crypto started to gain popularity and greater adoption. Each of these new coins started to address a particular problem that the society was struggling with and some were just useless crap created to con people. But these previously liberty loving geeks who hated greedy bankers and their wars, and government bureaucracy and so on became completely different people now. Some of them were running centralized exchanges and gambling with ordinary people's money. Other started to setup pools caring only about profit and nothing else. Without knowing, they become just like the greedy bankers they once hated.
So i gave up asking the pools to update anymore. i think the solution should involve not begging any greedy pool anymore who cares about profit but nothing more. We can come up with a better way of getting things done so that the amazing ideas behind Darkcoin (privacy, freedoms from greedy bankers and tyranny etc) can continue to live.

Now that...Is quite possibly the most insightful post I've read in a very long time... I used to be one of those greedy bankers... Yes we looked down at the Libertarians like they were "have nots" who, given the same opportunities in life, would be no different to us... The truth is... Somewhere in the middle... My conscience is a lot clearer now I turned by back on banks, I'm sleeping a lot better at night and I'm slowly accumulating as much DRK as my resources allow... It's not about standing on a side of the fence hurling judgement, it's about becoming the change you want to see in the world. very nice post and very good honest comment ! tx guys i was never a banker and never wanted to be one ! and yes i see what you are talking about happening to BTC and maybe in DRK .... greed !!! we gotta keep that in check on all sides ! Miners, MN holder, investors ..... that greed will make us all (including the whole Crypto Industry no better than the Banking world ! That greed will kill the whole Crypto Industry eventually ! so please everybody keep that in check ! (and in the back of your head!) |
