2821  Economy / Auctions / Re: Full Member with Grade A Post Quality and included in a full signature campaign on: September 16, 2015, 12:22:49 PM
I have a quick question that I would like to be answered before I bid. If the private key is given to the buyer, what stops the seller from using the private key later on and signing a message to get the account back?

if you have the private key, then you can provide a signed message too and that will prove the transfer of ownership to you

Yes he is transferring ownership to you and since he is trusted member on this forum you can trust him for this small trade. After you takeover this account you first post your new btc on this forum and may be after a couple of weeks you can change your password. This will protect you getting warning feedback on your account saying that this is sold account or ownership has been changed .....

I'm not sure if he should change pass or post a new address that fast if he doesn't want that others might be able to find out which account was sold. Though generally you are right, he would handle it that way.

The seller would have no chance to claim the account is stolen as long as he has the private key showing that he is "the original owner". So he would be safe. Smiley

Only one day now anymore i think. Smiley

Only 2 and a half more days for you being able to give a bid for this account. Don't miss your chance.

Again, users that are too new need to sign a signature, showing that they own the amount they bid. There is a link with a description about that in the OP.

Happy bidding. Smiley
2824  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: September 13, 2015, 08:25:43 PM
Today it seems even worse. It seems all old servers vanished from the serverlists and the server i added to my trusted servers yesterday lags for nearly 70 blocks. Even after restart of electrum.  Shocked

And i see that after the restart of electrum portable 2.3.2 the socks setting is gone again. I don't know why that happens, it did not with 2.1.

Edit: I created 2 new wallets with 2.3.2 and it's the same with the socks-settings there.

Edit 2: It seems the plugin form is not working fully fine too. When i enable a plugin then the settings button isnt't showing up instantly, only after i close and reopen the form. And label sync only shows Force Upload and so on buttons. I can't setup the login details for some reason. And when i click one of these buttons then i get the error message:
Quote
[Errno 1] _ssl.c:504: error_1407742E:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:tlsv1 alert protocol version
2825  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: September 12, 2015, 07:07:28 PM
I'm running Electrum 2.3.2 portable and have not had any issues today.

Notes, mine is set to auto connect so that would make a difference. Just sent a transaction about 5 minutes ago without problems.

In regards to the exchange rate plugin. Mine is set to CoinDesk for USD and it seems to be working fine.

It works today again. I'm not sure if the spamming stopped or what the reason is. But yes, i chose to implement another server in my list of servers i use and it worked with him. I only try to not send the knowledge about my addresses to too many random internet users.

The exchange rate works again too.
2826  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Lenders, please don't lend without a proper collateral! on: September 12, 2015, 07:01:55 PM
Thank you for the advice.

I want to suggest adding forms of collateral for new users.

There are things of worth that can be given in escrow. For example altcoins or accounts, when they can be secured and the value is real and can not be faked.
2827  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Lenders, please don't lend without a proper collateral! on: September 12, 2015, 07:00:43 PM
It's not that hard to spot when someone really needs a legit loan, even withouth collateral in some cases. If the member can sign his old btc address, and the
amount isnt a great one in contrast to his/hers account, i believe they will pay up.
If that sort of rule was to be used, then one could argue that no escrows should be trusted, since they also can sell their account and take the escrowed funds to themselves,no ?

Accounts are nowadays sold with the old private keys. You will not know if he really is the old owner.

And the worth of the account is nothing you can trust on if you don't take a collateral. Since what will you do when he sold his account after you gave him the loan? Will you try to get it from the new owner? That's an unsure game.

You really should not be so uncautious. You ask for being scammed. I say that because this happens on the forum, this is no theory.

Of course you need to not trust escrows, though most escrows are trusted because they have shown some form of morals that would make it unlikely that they will sell their account for a fraction of a bitcoin. And accounts asking for loans are only in very rare cases so established or trusted like escrows.

On top, escrows often had way way more coins in escrow than a loan or account can be worth. So if an escrow would want to scam then surely that would not be for the amount of loans that are lent out on the forum.

Don't feel so safe. If you behave that way then you will bring escrows in risk too. Since when they get tricked by the scammer then it might be that they pay in order to not tarnish their name. It might be that some of these no collateral loans only found a good ending because escrows paid, because they felt responsible.

Only saying...
2828  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: September 11, 2015, 08:43:03 PM
It seems electrum version 2.3.2 forgets the socks-settings with every restart. I don't know if it is already fixed in later versions though.
2829  Economy / Securities / Re: [CANNABIT] Investment Details - Announcement & Discussion Thread #cannabit on: September 11, 2015, 07:26:26 PM
Any updates on the transition to NXT?

If you have trouble getting a hold of everyone cannabit should release a Asset news/poll thingie. I think you get a mail then.

For the BTC conversion there is a lot of options through MGW/SuperNET and Coinomat and stuff. I'm sure I don't even know them all and don't know the fastest/lowestfee one.

Yeah, we prepared already such an asset news for cannabit. We don't think that he sent it out yet. But it should be the best way to get all shareholders. Till now nearly no shareholder signed the form.

We thought about automatic conversion to btc but it looked rather difficult. So far it seems nxt is a currency with a high enough volume to catch div payments from cannabit without crashing the price. If, for the start, we will use nxt then it should not be a bad thing.
2830  Economy / Securities / Re: [CANNABIT] Investment Details - Announcement & Discussion Thread #cannabit on: September 11, 2015, 07:20:33 PM
It seems something came through, though it surely does not look like a years worth of dividends.

We will run behind and put pressure on him. I think even a small div is worth something for the start. I would not have felt comfortable seeing a years amount of divs on cryptostocks. And we will push to make the move to nxt.

It seems we did not get an email about the dividends from cryptostocks. I wonder why.

Getting ahold of every shareholder should be possible the easiest way when cannabit sends out a notice on cryptostocks. When the email system works again. Then every shareholder should get an email. The move to nxt is not mentioned though. Only to check out the thread for the post i made some days ago. I wonder if cannabit sent it already though i somehow doubt it.

We will see how it develops but surely we won't let it sit there.
2831  Economy / Marketplace / Lenders, please don't lend without a proper collateral! on: September 11, 2015, 01:49:30 PM
I'm opening this post to warn lenders to not lend out cryptocurrencies without a proper collateral. You not only risk your own coins but you risk the coins of escrows too. And when you take an account as collateral check carefully if a loan is on that account.

I write this because it happened lately that a lender lent out coins without collateral. The borrower removed the personal message under the avatar that he has a loan and sold the account. The outcome was that someone paid for the loan and it was not the borrower. I won't say any names and i didn't even gave red trust yet in order to not pinpoint the case.

Please don't be stupid by lending out without collateral. I'm actually surprised that it still happens since everytime i have read about that in the past there were many that warned the lenders already. Accounts can be bought or sold anytime and you never can be sure about the one controlling the account. And when you give out loans without collateral you practically ask being scammed. And you even risk escrows that might be involved and don't find about such thing. Which is quite easily done since you can't check everything out.

Only a headsup. Don't do this!
2832  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: September 10, 2015, 01:38:11 PM
It seems the 2 servers i use, for privacy reasons i try to avoid using more, are not able to give me a connection again while spamming is going on. It seems they are overworked or so.

At least the last portable version i use, 2.3.2 tries to reconnect way faster But even that is not working for hours now. If i really need my wallet i would need to try other servers, which i would prefer being able to avoid because of connecting bitcoin wallet addresses.

There seems to be a problem with exchange rates plugin too. I can not chose a currency when i chose a service. And i tried to do so because the plugin stopped showing the exchange rates. I don't know how this might be connected with the spamming. Is there a central server dealing with that and it contains an electrum server too?

Only a headsup. I believe at the moment the electrum server software might be the bottleneck for electrum as a whole.
2833  Economy / Auctions / Re: Full Member with Grade A Post Quality and included in a full signature campaign on: September 10, 2015, 09:07:57 AM
I guess it's worth it to have an account like this. Just wanna know how long it will take it to become a Sr. Member? How many weeks from now? I'm quite not familiar with the activity periods here
Anyway I bid 0.07 btc

The potential activity is 196. And you can become a Sr. Member when you reached 240 activity. For each 2 week period you can get 14 activity points. Which means 44 activity points are missing for becoming a sr. member. That means 14 + 14 + 14 + 14 timeframes are  needed = 56 activity points. That means when you bought the account on 17th you will be able to turn Sr. Member on 10th to 11th november since you only need two posts in the 2 week timeframe starting at 10th november.

Your bid is valid. You are the highest bidder with 0.07 Bitcoin. Smiley
2834  Economy / Auctions / Re: Full Member with Grade A Post Quality and included in a full signature campaign on: September 10, 2015, 08:39:02 AM
Only 7 more days. Smiley

Don't miss your chance to get your hand on that account with A-Grade posts, included in a campaign already and protection against being found out as a bought account. Plus the account is short before becoming a Sr. Member when taking the potential activity into account. So you only need to make some posts and you will have a Sr. Member in a short timeframe.

Actual highest bidder is shane with 0.0625 Bitcoin.

Happy bidding! Smiley

Keine Chance! Grin

2836  Economy / Auctions / Re: Full Member with Grade A Post Quality and included in a full signature campaign on: September 08, 2015, 09:19:05 AM
are red trust come from some default trust ?
i want to know it

Yes. Only red trust given from forum members that are on default trust will give an account the red numbers under the avatar. Red trust from normal members does not have an effect.

This account here has no trust ratings at all.

so i can get privatekey from that account too ?

Yes. You can have this account as if you owned it from the start.

anyway i bid 0.0625

Your bid is valid. You, shane, are the highest bidder at the moment with 0.0625 Bitcoin.
2837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steps Coin, this is the beginning (altcoin platform, forum and much more) on: September 07, 2015, 05:42:58 PM
AltcoinSteps asked me to provide an Escrow address that is used to collect the funds from those who want to invest in this coin. Once everyone received their Steps Coin i will release the funds to AltcoinSteps.

The escrow address is:
Code:
16z3erMRQiHuRR9RkR1SUpGw6tGi9UvJX5

Before payment i would suggest you take a look at http://www.cointape.com/ to check out if the network gets spammed again. Below the graph there is shown what amount of fee is needed to get instant confirmation. Checking that page could prevent that transactions are stuck for hours or days because they dont get a confirmation.

Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
20150907 This is the escrow address for the ICO of Steps Coin and the escrow address is 16z3erMRQiHuRR9RkR1SUpGw6tGi9UvJX5

Message signed with an old address of mine, that i posted may 2013 on bitcointalk. See my Servicethread.

2838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Gavin is so desperate about his fork? Is he hiding something? on: September 07, 2015, 02:07:42 PM
...One side with an alternative client and the other with their sidechain.

not true.

one side is an altcoin the other is bitcoin.

period.

I think you misunderstood what he wrote. The other admins have their own sidechant, the lightning network. And that network would have an advantage when bitcoin would turn out to be expensive and slow or not unreliable. Because transactions would swith there. Which, by the way, is their argument. We need to take out transactions from bitcoin and leave bitcoin as a high value transaction system.

Surely not what most bitcoiners would want. Or the vision satoshi had with bitcoins.

So yes, both sides have their own altcoin in mind.

Meh, as long as bitcoin does not get highjacked. They can build whatever they want on top of it.

But high value transaction system? Sign me up already. Roll Eyes

Though the problem starts when they promote 1 MB blocks which will effectively make bitcoin worse for users. Higher fees, unreliability about transactions going through and so on.

You should not create a sidechain, claim that transactions should move from bitcoin to sidechains and to make that possible make bitcoins less useful.

That simply is not ok.

And what about hijacked? Practically no one using xt is a fan of hearn. It is only a vote for bigger blocks. No one wants the other stupid things he wants.

i bet he is some rich guy who wants to help people.
good job and keep it up.
cheers!
-Katerniko1

That's definitely the case. I observed him a bit since some time and it's pretty clear that he is a nice guy who gets joy from helping others. I think you have to hand pick people like him on the bitcointalk forum so i did not find anything bad about him.

I realize i didn't trust him yet. I would trust him anytime. Tongue
2840  Economy / Gambling / Re: Outcome of two bets on: September 07, 2015, 09:36:42 AM

Yes he did win this is a bet I booked.

Ah there, you are... good that you don't have hard feelings against the winner. Smiley

I book bets all the time some win some lose are you available to escrow more bets in the future?

Yes. I can do that. Now that i know how to read bets it would be even easier. Tongue

Let me know when you need my service.
