Stay on Topic folks or face the mods wrath... You want to discuss cloudmining - use the correct areas - this ain't it.
(edit: mods removed the cloud comments) Back on topic, as always it boils down to cost of power. I'd think that Scotland and the rest of the UK should be doing well on that part. I keep reading about some pretty huge offshore windfarms in place with non-stop expansion of them. The cool winds should certainly help. If you are putting up a building for them, consider the 'Yahoo Chicken coop'. google it - will be the first things on the list that are not ads. Very efficient building designed with data center heat loads in mind.

AFAIK in 2014 in the US the FTC went after a PC maker for a selling PC that was also mining in the background. Someone like eMachines or Peoples PC with the mining being done to (in theory) lower the price of the machine or rental contract for it. Point is, even though the Fine Print made mention of the mining aspect the company was still forced to stop and paid a very hefty fine of several million $. I do believe that particular case is why none of the space heater makers have done the obvious thing that could work as long as they make it crystal clear what the miner/heater is doing and provide the associated info on how to get a wallet, where to point the miner/heater at, etc.
Then again, remember VCR's and how most folk's were blinking 12:00 all the time?..... Perhaps to deal with the technology-challenged everyday person, as a default have the miner/heaters mine for a charity wallet like Shriners or whatever is regional to the miners.

Thanks for the suggestions! Ordered 6 cables from Stayonline, very good prices. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Good choice. Since they make the cables they sell you know you are getting high-quality cords that meet all required international safety standards so insurance companies stay happy.

No difference from the s9. It certainly does NOT have AB!

Hey guys, Where are you buying your PSU cables? I always buy from Ironbox in Amazon, the price of the cable is fine but the shipping prices are too high! Any recommendation where to buy NEMA 6-20P to C13 cables for cheap? I don't know, maybe I'm a bit of a cheapskate! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I usually use cables from https://www.stayonline.com/208v-straight-blade-cords-20a.aspx OR check overstock.com as Overstock accepts BTC for payment.

Check your addresses for both the pools and your wallet to make sure there is no space at the beginning or end of them. Many times when copy-pasting a space is picked up. When that happens miners will fail to connect.

It isn't a question of compatibility with coins but whether mining pools choose to add a few lines of code to support it. No, not that simple: It is a matter of the pool operators first having access to a miner to test the changes on their pool using Testnet .We are talking FINANCIAL software after all and all pools have their own tweaked hardware/software setups. Only a fool would make ANY changes without first testing the changes before taking it live. Halong of course has done NOTHING to aid that process so the pool operators need users to lend the miners to them. Once the users finally get their miners delivered that is...

It means to me that Inno needs to make it clear that it only works with pools that supports AB.
Until the majority of pools support AB failure to mention that is false advertising by omission because people will naturally assume that it works with all pools - and for all sha256-d coins - as historically all miners have. This miner and the T1 do not.
As I've said about Halong and their T1, if Inno wants all pools to support AB then they need to get some of these in the hands of the pool operators so they can test the changes on their pool using Testnet to verify how it behaves with their setup. Only a fool would make live changes to what is essentially financial software without testing on their pool hardware/software setup first.

Just reading this Telegram server im getting the creeps of shit tons of DUMB excuses https://t.me/dragonmint , IF they had real working AT LEAST 1 GOD DAMN WORKING UNIT and don't want to send it to anyone, invite reviewer to your HOME , since "we don't have office in prelaunch state". And this is a surprise to you? Guess you haven't at least skimmed through the first few dozen pages here eh? That is typical of Halong's business practices and hubris. That and the not telling anyone that 'oh by the way - these ONLY work on pools that support AB' is why I will never buy from them.

Well this is working out well.... Today just got another A841 in from Blockforge, also was able to add my last of 6 741's to the main farm and wadda ya know... One of my T9's has a board that went titsup so took it offline. Worse is that a batch-11 s9 I have as a 'spare' seems to want to run hotter than the hubs of hell, lord knows what the power draw is. Even underclocked to 533 temps are still around 100-105C. Woof. All in the timing I guess ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sherv.net%2Fcm%2Femoticons%2Fbutter%2Fsour-face-smiley-emoticon.png&t=663&c=Hf3RCTQAiZSekQ) Anywho, good timing for the A8 to arrive! Taking the hot s9 back offline and replacing with the 841. Keep this up and soon most of my farm with be Avalons ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sherv.net%2Fcm%2Femo%2Fhappy%2Fhappy-dog-smiley-emoticon.gif&t=663&c=p__h5wNVM8voIA)

Maybe they (edit: Inno) have realized they have already royally screwed up the Halong Mining name with the poor quality out of spec machines, missed delivery schedules, and non competitive pricing.
" Screwed up the Halong name"? Heh heh, Ja, that on top of Halong being a Ghost corporation that from day-1 has been doing a very good job of making sure no one is able to located who owns/runs Halong Mining. In my book they will always be a prime example of how to not run a company and will never get my business or recommendation because of their approach to business.

It's understandable. There are a$$holes all over the internet that are more than willing to take another's generosity for granted! Thanks everyone for the help, encouragement and coupons. I'm really not much of a forum poster because I'd rather sift/search through the thread than ask direct questions (I learn more that way!) and I'm not yet very knowledgeable to be helpful. But I'll definitely let you know when these new miners start ramping up! No more coupons needed, my order has been placed!
Kudos and yer 1st Merit for knowing how to Learn with a capital 'L'. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sherv.net%2Fcm%2Femoticons%2Fhello%2Fsalute-smiley-emoticon.gif&t=663&c=ZvGbO2xMovytiw) Too many folks come here and ask things that have been previously answered, often in great detail, countless times already. Even a decently worded Google search usually will pin-point the relevant posts here. Personally, when giving help I use the 'Teach a person to fish vs giving them a fish' approach. As you said, learning the 'how and why' is far more helpful than just a 'do this'.

I asked bitmain about the static pressure and no answer. I guess I will have to pay a lab to get the info hehe.
You have your answers - if you are ducting miners you MUST use a fan/blower at the outlet of the ducts that can move at least the same CFM as the combined miners do. You CANNOT use just the miners themselves to do it. If you just want to ignore what has been said here, sure, go ahead.

Thanks. As with all PR there *is* some truth in BM's response. Namely the bit about parts availability. In short, ja BM could easily corner the market against others who also want to suddenly order a few hundred-k peices of something say, the specific buck inductors they use or the specific large filter caps they use. Fine. Also keep in mind that when ordering very large quantities say, over 50k of parts, MANY common components are on an allocation basis. Those 'high-end Japanese capacitors' that everyone so rightly choose to use are a prime example. Don't care what value you want they are hard to source, even small quan of a hundred or so can have a lead time over 10 weeks. However, as an engineer who often designs electronic circuits/systems as a living I know there are always alternative design choices to let you use components that are more available.

....Bitmain posted a very "PR" driven rebuttal to this. It was transparent, weak and so typically Bitmain. This is the best and most accurate article I've ever read in this space. Ever. Unfortunately, the "truth" is like poetry. Everyone hates it.
Link to it please?

Rule of thumb when ducting any machine that normally has free air flow in and out, this applies to chillers, air compressors and and other self contained machine using high flow fans such as miners: Every single manufacturer I have worked with always required a powered ducting system rated at a free-flow equal to the machines stated airflow. Failure to do so voids the warranties.
Don't hold me to it but AFAIK for a s9 that is a free flow in & out of around 250 cfm. Considering the fans are already working hard to keep reasonable temps, raising the work load by adding adding resistance (passive ductwork) will only reduce the miner's internal airflow and result in higher chip temps.
