2821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeFi is not decentralized, DAO is also not decentralized on: July 01, 2022, 07:56:35 AM
Decentralisation goes beyond ownership structure. I agree with the fact that a huge percentage of most decentralized projects are owned by a seasoned few, but that does not change the fact that they are decentralized. Decentralisation is could be depicted in the public ledger and transparency of transaction. I recall that one of the characteristics of cryptocurrency is decentralization.
You are not getting it correctly, there can be developers but they may not claim ownership but the top members of the developers can claim the co-founders. But that is not what we are talking about, they are centralized in the sense that the top members which are just very few people have the majority voting power, what is decentralized about that? DAOs are even very centralized.
2822  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone bought Bitcoin/altcoins already? on: July 01, 2022, 07:36:26 AM
We can use sentiment to determine this and with the past long term candle stick analyses, we can presume that the bear market is not yet finally over, but the price can not go down as much again, this should be a perfect time to buy, bitcoin has dropped below 3 times its price in November 2021 and now ranging between $18000 and $21000. It is not necessary to always check the market, 1 bitcoin is 1 bitcoin, buy now and leave the coin for a long period of time will yield a good profit.
2823  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto Exchanges on: June 30, 2022, 05:45:19 PM
"Crypto Exchanges are more likely to be compromised, so please put some of your assignments into a wallet right now. Withdrawals will largely stop until the market is stable."

Do you agree or disagree with above statement..
This is not the beginning of the bear market, it is advisable not to leave your coins on crypto exchanges, all the coins that are not used for trading should all be moved to a noncustododial wallet, even without the bear market, bull market included, you should never leave your coins on crypto exchanges. Only the coins that should be left should only be for trading.
2824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it possible to control Gambling behaviors? on: June 30, 2022, 01:08:47 PM
Meditation? Really? How is that going to help? To meditate you have to stop gambling first and sit down in a calm environment where nobody can bother you, with no phones ringing and messengers beeping. How is someone who is gambling at work or in an internet cafe going to find such place? Given that a person is home alone, if that person cannot control gambling urges they will not stop and start meditating. They will sit and play until they run out of money or the computer breaks.
There is nothing that can help a gambling addict until he realized that he has to stop as it is becoming a problem for him. If gambling addict can know this early and know that the more he gamble, run out of money, find money, gamble again and run out of money to the extent of selling some properties and nothing good occur but the addiction getting worse, if he realize all these and begin self-discipline, getting medical and counseling help, he likely will change, but if people thinking meditation can help, even if he has no access to phones and other devices, his mind will truly only be there to gamble again. Self-discipline matters and the best way to wake up from gambling addiction.
2825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Pros and Cons of Bitcoin Gambling on: June 30, 2022, 12:56:40 PM
I don't mind if the bitcoin dumps as long as i am holding my winnings in bitcoin.
The main problem in gambling is that you have a lot of risk of losing your money. I have seen people invest their savings and hard earned money in bitcoins and later they lost all the money in gambling.
So its not mainly about your portfolio value in terms of dollars but also the risk involved in gambling is a big con for bitcoin gambling.
You may not that care having your money in bitcoin but come to think of it, like some weeks ago when bitcoin was at $40000, bitcoin dropped back to $19000 today, anyone having like $250 bitcoin on a betting online platform will have less than $250 by now. We all have different opinions about this but it is very annoying for people to lose money, in reality, it is not easy at all. I have preferred to use USDT on any gambling site I use, I will only buy bitcoin back in 2023 when I know the crypto market can not go down much further.
2826  Other / Meta / Re: Do you read unmerited replies? on: June 30, 2022, 07:05:28 AM
Merit helps against spamming but not all good posts are given merit, some are just left not merited. Some posts that do not worth to be given merit can be given merit at times, this can be rear but it do happen at times. If some posts that have valid information but that do not have merit are forced down the thread, that will not make any sense at all. I will not suggest this.
2827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Almost all NFTs are scam on: June 29, 2022, 07:29:25 AM
imagine if everyone on this earth has Gold in their backyard will Gold retain its value? It will be plagued with devaluation right? This is exactly what NFTs are today, everyone can create theirs.
NFTs existence will continue to increase but people will wake up one day to know that NFTs are scam, people will only create NTFs, sell it, some will increase in price while some will not. Altcoins has done so much and they are making scam more possible, see Do Kwon pump and dump UST and Luna, see DeFi scam, see DAO hacks, another are NFTs, the most scam about NFTs will be not in short period of time, it can be long period of time, NFTs that are created today, worth certain amount of dollars but they may fade in price over time and become worthless or less worthless in the future.
2828  Economy / Economics / Re: Irrelevance of Education in Nigeria. on: June 29, 2022, 06:53:50 AM
The adage (school na scam)by most Nigerian is becoming realistic.for a country to grow and develop,it most invest in is human capital.presently.universities, polytechnics and colleges are on strike.the educational system of the country is very poor.

Another problem is high unemployment rate: most graduate that are are qualified and ready to work, are not employed which is decrease the rate at which people go to school.
With the poor educational system of the country, skills acquisition and empowerment is also low which worsened the situation.
If almost all the Nigerians that graduate are not employed or are underemployed, that means schooling can be seen as scam, there are days of sleepless night to read in order to pass and, going to school will consume time and it requires hard work and yet no job after graduation. But school is needed to help in exposure and going through schooling can result to self-esteem.

Education in Nigeria is very cheap which is also where one of the problems come from including the government that do not focus on education, ASUU do strike up to 6 months at times and this can be another 6 months or more stike, ASUU and federal government are only there to waste the time of the future of tomorrow.

But because of this, we should not think not going to school, schooling is important to bring exposure.
2829  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin anonymous or private? on: June 28, 2022, 09:58:56 AM
Both anonymous and private are a same thing, if you're ask "Bitcoin is anonymous or pseudonymous?" then absolutely Bitcoin is pseudonymous since we can track the transactions on public ledger, but we can't know who're the owner of those address if they're not using and giving their KYC to centralized party.

Anonymous and private mean we can't track the transactions is.
Bitcoin transaction is pseudonymous, I agree but anonymous and privacy are not the same.

Privacy is when you use bitcoin in a way your addresses can not be tracked together in a way each addresses can not be linked together. You can acheive this if you use full client wallet, like bitcoin core together with tor so that to trace you and also link your addresses will be difficult. They do not know that two, three or many addresses belong to a single person, that is private enough.

Anonymous in the sense that you can use a wallet like the light clients like electrum, your wallet can sychronize with blockchain with the help of central server, central server can know many of your wallet address, but if you use it with tor, the central server can not know your IP address. They know that many addresses belong to one person, but they do not know the person.
2830  Economy / Speculation / Will the bear market be more significant on: June 28, 2022, 08:12:11 AM
According to some reports, some analysts have predict bitcoin price to fall further to $14000, when I calculate this, at $14000 low, this will be like the 2018, 2019 and 2020 lowest bitcoin price if compared with 2017 highest price, but according to glassnode, when bitcoin price now is still not yet to that point, they have analysed and concluded that the bear market we are now is the worst ever since bitcoin was created.

2022 bear market has been the worst on record — Glassnode

Bitcoin is not yet at $14000, is the report accurate? I think the bear market should end before any valid report. This will only result to FUD.

I do not believe in analysts but I too have calculated that before, it was not a surprise when I saw in, but we can all be right or wrong.
2831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / DeFi is not decentralized, DAO is also not decentralized on: June 27, 2022, 01:56:56 PM
Less than 1% of all holders have 90% of the voting power in DAOs: report

I have not received this email yet about this Chainanalysis report but I saw it on a site which should be true. We have known that DeFi is full of scam and hack, also DAO is not different. From its name, DAOs is called Decentralized Autonomous Organizations. Presently existing DAOs in crypto today are DeFi and NFTs, they are supposed to be decentralized but they are all absolutely centralized.

Quote
A user must hold between 0.1% and 1% of the outstanding token supply to create a proposal and hold between 1% and 4% to pass it.

A recent report from Chainalysis analyzed the workings of ten major DAO projects and found that on average, less than 1% of all holders have 90% of the voting power. The finding highlights a high concentration of decision-making power in the hands of a selected few, an issue DAOs were created to resolve.

Please, read further: Less than 1% of all holders have 90% of the voting power in DAOs: report

I remember when I downloaded Opera Web3 broswer, not to use it for cryptocurrencies because using browser to store coins is highly vulnerable to online attack, but to just see how it was. The browser did always brought up many news about cryptocurrencies, most of the news I read are about DeFi, NFTs, but most especially DAO, nothing more that I was reading than DAO hacks and the money stolen are in millions of dollars, I was thinking probably they were repeating old hack news because the news popping up were to many related to DAO hack, but when I investigated further, the hack were all recent to that time and true.

There is nothing special about altcoins, they are not decentralized, from centralized, ponzi, pump and dump ICOs to IDOs, DeFi, NFTs and others. They are all not decentralized. The name is decentralized from DAO, but they are all centralized. Also about DeFi, name is decentralized but it is also centralized. Do not be deceived.
2832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Why did cryptocurrencies become so valuable for the iGaming market? on: June 27, 2022, 01:13:36 PM
I see this just as an opportunity to market Crypto Snack.

If anyone do not want to use fiat, cryptocurrencies that are pegged with fiat like USDT can be used. I have seen USDT and some other stable coins option on the crypto iGaming platforms that I have visited before.

The best time to use unstable coins like bitcoin is a time like this if you are not withdrawing as fast as possible and if you did not lose the coin to gambling, because your bitcoin can increase in price if compared to fiat.
2833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! on: June 27, 2022, 08:11:53 AM
Before adopting bitcoin as legal currency transaction and they invested on bitcoin need to make research about bitcoin negative and positive side, exactly El Savador try to be investor with bitcoin trough price still pump.
We do not know the plans they had before making the conclusion to buy bitcoin at the price they bought it. It would have been more profitable if they buy at low price though, but what if they have made the analyses and knew bitcoin will at one point fall but later rise. People should not just conclude that El Salvador do not make research before investing.

If bitcoin hit $100000 like in next two years, don't you think El Salvador will be an example that would show people that bitcoin is a safe haven if they hold for long.

I think they have spent much state budget for investing with bitcoin but nowadays when bitcoin drop drastically how much money loss, hope they have sold bitcoin trough have reach higher price and right now they can try to buy back when bitcoin still have lower price.
El Salvador has not sold any bitcoin they are holding.

But El Salvador has not sold bitcoin still means that they are not yet losing, remember 1 BTC = 1 BTC. From the news we have read recently, it is clear that El Salvador is not selling any bitcoin holding. If selling, not this time.
2834  Economy / Economics / Re: Things are easy to understood now on: June 26, 2022, 10:41:18 AM
I will see how bitcoin will fall if it is bull time that people are buying bitcoin, that would be when you will realize that fiat are just assets that only devalues as time goes on, which will make you m realize that bitcoin is an asset that increase in value over time.

Government will have no option to keep the economy working, because of this, fiat will always be devalued as usual. What fiat can buy in the last five years, it can no more buy it presently.
2835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The fear of Negative trust and Ban on: June 26, 2022, 07:52:25 AM
You have not included Newbies - Read before posting, it is very important for newbies to read it. It can also be found on beginners and help board which is among the first threads that were pinned.

It's an undeniable fact that, the fear of Negative trust and being ban from the forum is the reason most newbies with myself inclusive, do not contribute much to the growth of the forum.
I can see newbies contributing and growing in rank. It is not necessary for newbies to contribute. The newbies that read than post and that determine to know more about bitcoin and this forum will grow in rank.

Good newbies are contributing.
2836  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is monero the only recommended privacy coin on this forum? on: June 26, 2022, 02:54:56 AM
If I get you all correctly, monero is the true privacy coin because it is fully private. Even there was a recent upgrade to litecoin which is called Minblewinble, it helps privacy between users too, it is optional just like dash and zcash. Dash and zcash can just be considered just as litecoin if talking about privacy coin, they are coins that are partly privacy and partly public, it depends on users choice, they are coins that exist in a way that some people can option for privacy and some people can option for public transaction that is transparent like bitcoin transaction, no wonder Chainanalysis said that most dash and zcash transactions can be traced, unlike monero. This can only lead to a conclusion that a semi privacy coins like dash and zcash are not privacy coins.
2837  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which crypto sportbooks are VPN friendly on: June 25, 2022, 10:25:17 AM
Blocking the websites of online casinos is quite popular in many countries. Using a VPN may not be a good solution as very few casinos tolerate it. However, many casinos and bookmakers create mirror links to their websites. One example is 1xBit.com and their mirror website https://1xbit1.com/
I have used VPN to access 2 or 3 gambling sites successfully, but I will not advice it too. What I think is that if your country is not allowing their citizens to gamble, it can be tough for these type of people, but if your country allows gambling, you can use VPN on gambling sites that accept it, but not an advice, I will prefer to use normal connection instead of VPN. VPN cases are treated differently on gambling sites, but to avoid your account of any issue, it should not truly be advised.
2838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots is More Likely to Cause Gambling Problem on: June 25, 2022, 10:18:46 AM
In my opinion, slots is one of the most vibrant and emotional gambling games, so it attracts users. At least for me it is one of the games of chance from which I get a real pleasure in the game.
That's why many people love playing slots and keep playing with more money. I also enjoy playing slots, but I play just for fun and not after winning. But I realized that playing slots can make us forget the time and money we spend. And that is what causes many people to have gambling problems because they lose track of time and control.
I see this the other way around, I see slot as a gambling type that let gamblers to know they have only luck to win, because of these, they can use just low amount of money for it. Sport gambling will only deceive gamblers, they will think they can analyse and bet and win the bet, but if they play often, they will only noticed that gambling is gambling and no difference. I do not see the article helping at all because anyone can become addicted in any type of gambling, not only slot.
2839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casino Trends For 2022 on: June 25, 2022, 10:12:33 AM
Here I agree with you. Gambling doesn't just depend on luck. Much more depends on your proper research. Especially in sports betting, we usually recognize a team or player. You have to understand which team or players perform well and which are relatively low quality. Then you can participate in any bet. But luck is a big deal that will not always be favorable.
There are different types of gambling, like casinos and sport betting. In casino, it is mostly based on luck, in sport, you can analyse and predict, but sport gambling is also based on luck, but the luck on sport gambling is higher than in casinos. Even if you gamble and win in sport, that does not mean there are no chance to lose, there are chance to lose too. Sport gambling sites are also growing very well, it is because people lose than gain to the gambling sites. If you are the best sport analysts and you gamble always and more frequently with your analysis, you will only notice you are losing, that is just sport gambling for you.
2840  Other / Beginners & Help / Why is monero the only recommended privacy coin on this forum? on: June 25, 2022, 10:01:07 AM
Moderators, please do not move this topic, I will like bitcoin board posters to contribute because they are the people that recommend monero most.

Some people know the importance of privacy coins, example is to convert bitcoin to a privacy coin and convert it back to bitcoin which can be an alternative to mixing and coinjoin.

According to what I have read online, there are many privacy coins, I have read about dash, zcash and many other altcoins to be a privacy coin, but on this forum, only monero is talked about. If monero only the true privacy coin? Are those like dash and zcash also a privacy coin or not truly a privacy is the reason you people are not them? Or this is related to centralization and decentralization?
