Wow, I can't believe that Griffith beat out Tranz on the popularity list! Maybe being more active has more weight in the nomination selection. Go Griffith!

Nice to see that the competion stays sharp. Looks like you are also doing a great job.

Success with your project....lets work hard and put pressure on the centralized system

I've met a lot of really nice people that work at banks.

There are nice people everywhere, that doesn't mean that the system needs to be upgraded to a more modern version.

We are all using computers now a days, but the typewriter was working as well

When I was a kid my mom had an electric typewriter, like a POW/POS Cryptocurrency

The soon to be released goldcoin client already does this.

K thx bai  Cool Cool

POW only kills price, you are going to want to change that before you start adding in multiple coin trading support.

Well it does already do this on my system.. Guess it will be a few weeks before you'll see it doing it on yours.

 Cool

We don't need to see it we have it already and are working on much bigger things relating to it.

Mk. Suit yourself.

But this is nothing compared to what I am working on.

Wish you the best though. Anything to keep ripple off the charts is good.

Lord knows the last thing we want is a centralized monetary system.

It will be very hard resuscitation of dead coin... nearly one year and 10 pages? Really?  Huh

Seems like everyone wants to jump on to the next big thing instead of wanting to learn more about how it works and making changes.

I don't own any Coins myself, I was just making a suggestion. Came across the coin when my friend made some videos, seems like you need to get rid of the POW and go for POS (which is why I never invested). POS has it's drawbacks but atleast you aren't getting eaten alive by sell pressure. With POW only, you always need to be buying the coins that are being mined, otherwise the price with gravitate lower. It's not like it's not worth that much, if you took the average buy in price, the coin would be worth a lot more.

as they come here and FAP it raw to the wonderful world of crypto currency cloning LOL

This forum is literally a storefront for honest innovation.

Like someone's idea? Is it open source? Got a few thousand bitcoins you don't mind holding in escrow for a few months?

If the answer to these is yes, then host a 3000+ BTC ITO, with your own money, on an exchange with that exact same idea, and just copy the other guys repo who's doing what you're doing for free.

Nothin but good times here .....

Yeah the abuse of Open Source code is a sad thing to see really Sad
You would like to see some honor among thieves LOL

But hey.... M O N E Y

Many guys among us would slit their mothers throat in her sleep for some cash.. so fucking over some random internet guys is not a problem for them.
Too many young people don't realize eFriends online are often quite happy to be buddy buddy happy smiles with them.. as long as you line their pockets $$$ LOL
When the cops come knocking though.. expect your ass to be sold out !
Kids don't get it.. they just don't have the life experience etc.

Ripping GPL code etc is a tough subject for me because i am a Software and games cracker but even us crackers have a code of honor and ethics..
Like one cracker would usually not steal his work from another guy and pretend to take credit for it basically and if he's caught doing that his rep will be shit !

I am seeing a lot of problems but not enough solutions in this. What would you do to change it for the better? What is the most ideal way forward for the Altcoin scene in your opinion while still affording privacy of funds?

Official Announcement

Hello Community,

The New Development team wanted to step in here and make an official announcement regarding the state of LTCD in the current market.

We have now almost finalized the takeover of the currency and we are working hard to layout a roadmap and get genuinely obtainable goals set so that the community can come together and vote on which we should fund second after Proof of Stake.

We understand what has all went on. You were promised innovation, you were teased with 2.0 Technology and because of the lack of releases you are hurt. We are hurt. The new development team invested heavily in this currency just as you had and we all shared the vision of changing cryptocurrency for the better
.

This has failed. There was no innovation, there was no 2.0... YET. Yet is the keyword here. The existing developers didn't simply have enough time to get these features set and in place.

Instead of focusing on what they didn't accomplish, we the new development team are choosing to look at what they did create. Let me remind you. We have a large and active community, we have a stable blockchain with good mining support for now, we have decent volume, we have a great difficulty shield that can help with future forks.

I ask you to hold your tongue. We get that this has become a sad excuse and we are working to revamp and re-establish this currency. Posting facts about the past team no longer has validity on this new page. If we as the new development team mess up, lie to you, or other instances, please let us know.

With this weekend and into next week (I have next week off of work) we will be GRINDING out so much work to get a foothold so that we can move FORWARD. We have taken so many steps backward lately that we need to leap forward to stay in the game, or it's over. I get that, we get that, you get that.

POS will be out number one target short term. Following that we want untraceable transactions, and many other suggested features. But for the time being we will be focusing on POS. I have developed a Proof of Stake Decay whitepaper that will be used for the new feature. This POSD will extend the life of the currency with a POS system and give us the needed short term boost to get to where we should be.

Again, we are working hard. I will admit, it's incredibly crappy for me to come here and read all of the people that have lost hope. Hope is all we have left and with our incoming improvements we hope to re-establish the belief that there is a capable development team behind this currency.

Thanks,

-Alec

Why not just have a moderated topic and an unmoderated topic? Just let people complain if they want in one thread and the thread to be kept clean of all negative stuff? you run both topics, seems like you are just frustrated to me.
2849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nothing at stake robust Pure Proof of stake on: November 28, 2014, 06:50:41 PM
I find your criticism valid and it applies to all forms of POS that I know of. However I don't see it as problematic, as long as you have a way to get that "external 'number'" in a secure/trusted/decentralized enough way.

Thanks gatra. That about covers my worries for long range attacks.

Thinking about the internal chain consensus rules, maybe a different approach might produce some new ideas.

It seems the 'issue' is that a rational miner will try to mine multiple chains, not just because he can, but more importantly because he might make more money that  way.

Why not remove that incentive altogether instead of punishing/blacklisting him for trying.

Currently in Pure POS systems, the miners still 'compete' for who gets to mint the next block. Whoever does, gets the spoils. Thereby incentivising multiple chain mining. I know TF in NXT picks a miner, but that does not stop miners trying to extend earlier chains in history to find a different TF path through the miners. If you see what I mean..

What if you say anyone can mint the next block, and then pay EVERYONE, EVERY block. Therefore every chain pays the same. Therefore there is no incentive to mine multiple chains.

You could use a 'Hash Clock' to pick a miner at random every 10 seconds or so (Like POW but more hashing power has no effect), and then you would calculate the value BLOCK FEES / TOTAL COINS.

This would give you a tiny percentage that you could multiply ALL ACCOUNT balances by to spread the fees proportionally to everyone..

So if the block fees were 1 unit, and the coin had 100 coins in all, every account would increase by 1/100, 1%.

This would mean that you would not need to actually run a node to be paid, BUT, if you were a large stakeholder and wanted your investment to be secured, why wouldn't you run a node ?

I can see that there are issues with the idea, why anyone would run a node, as there would be no gain financially from doing so.

The network would not run if enough miners did not choose to run a node. So I wonder - would stake holders choose to run a node - for the good/health of the network ?

I have an idea about changing they way the fees work in a pure POS currency.

Could you smooth the amount of fees generated over time alongside Proof of Stake as a low curve over a long medium of time such as a couple weeks? The way I see this working is that it would create a type of floating number which is the difference between the expected inflation and it's actual inflation and could be used to check past work through checks of the oldest, most trusted nodes? I feel like this kind of stuff will be some of the bigger changes to Proof of Stake, because then every block gets paid a minimum amount of fees depending on the amount of volume in a period. Make the whole general consensus that either you are supporting it's security or you are losing a small amount per year. Say you have lower inflation but higher fees then all nodes would be incentivized to claim their blocks and support consensus.

I nominate Tranz.  Fantastic and humble Dev.  All quality coding, no hype or bullshit.  Primary responsibility is Hobonickels (HBN) and recently he took over Bottlecaps (CAP).  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303749.0

I'm a Tranz fan as well, he often flies under the radar because he steers clear of all drama in a very similar way to Sunny King. There is atleast 10 different things he has developed for HBN that are unique and ahead of the curve so if you guys haven't nominated anyone yet, you should nominate Tranz.

In wallet trading update

We are in the final stage from the development for the in wallet trading fase1. Al the code has been written from "0", we are now testing the whole trading module for the Cryptsy Exchange on Windows, Mac and Linux, hoping to find some bugs that accure for the different operating systems, that we than can try to resolve.

Now that we have written the complete code for the Cryptsy Exchange, we can adapt that easy for other Exchanges. Most of the Exchanges have minor differences that can be adapted and then tested.

We have decided to launch the first version with 2 Exchanges (Cryptsy and Bittrex). This means we need to launch a new wallet. Additional Exchanges require again a new wallet, unless we make wallets with and wallets without the in wallet trading.

We would like to hear from you all, what Exchanges you would like to see added to the MWC wallet.

I think Cryptsy is a good choice, I have my reservations about Bittrex and their ICO's, I also think Poloniex and Bter are good.

Why fight over the limited resources on Earth when we could expand our resources by going to other planets ?
Let's think big guys Wink

TO THE MOON!!!!

Had to say it Tongue but yeah having a usefulness to the coin and what it can do is good, If you were going to make a cause coin like that, it might be better to merge mine it with bitcoin, maybe even have proof of stake as well so that it can help out it's price a bit better. XPM is all well and good but people wanna make money too which is why it's not as popular than the more financially geared coins.

I personally think satoshi has passed on.

Passed on to better things?  Cheesy It's possible that he has in fact died, but he did announce he'd moved on to other things before he disappeared completely so it's likely he just wanted to leave bitcoin to sustain itself, though of course it's still a possibility he has died since.

No I think he probably died, maybe some panicky government had him offed when they thought Bitcoin was a part of Wikileaks.

There hasn't been enough information for people to want to buy and bring this higher, skele if you want this project to succeed you are going to need to address people's questions outright, otherwise it just looks like you are playing games and if no one wants to buy and trade because we can't trust you, it won't be long until the lack of interest gets the coin delisted.

Why not join an existing coins team? I am sure there are a few that really could use the dev help and are not scams or BS coins.
I thought of that, but the ones I've seen don't share my views. So I decided to see who would be willing to come together to make a new one.

What are your views? and how would you make the Coin secure and profitable? Also, it will be very hard with a newbie account, how many Coins have you actually checked out? Sources? Ideas? How will people know you aren't going to fleece them?
Those are great questions. And I hope I can give you great answers. One page of coins that I've used include: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Peercoin, Feathercoin, Quarkcoin, Spreadcoin, Maxcoin, Anoncoin, Darkcoin, Vertcoin, Worldcoin, Mintcoin. And thats just one page haha. I have quite experience with many different kinds of coins. I look at every level of a coin, from the one who sends the coin, down to people who mine the coin. I want a coin that anyone can use with ease. Where any person on any OS can send, receive, and mine the coin. I know its hard to get all of this done, But it can be done. I don't want a get rich quick coin. I want a more stable, easier to use, and full proof coin. I hope this sums up what my views are. If your interested, don't hesitate to comment. I'll accept both positive and negative comments Smiley.

I like your candor, you want to help me with the project I have been working on? I joined up with ColossusCoin nearly a year ago with the same aspirations because it's just cool to run a Coin, but the code was not done well and would be better to create a whole new Coin. I've never really invested much, I have a regular job with my own bills and stuff and have really only spent money on learning aspects (compiling, a few test coins, some nodes) and just being around for such a long time, I run the forums along side the creator of the forums.

Here is a post I made a couple weeks ago asking for help with a fair bit more relevant information https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=842940.0

What you are going to find in your quest is that first and foremost, everyone is only about making a million dollars overnight and most, if not all of your replies would talk about some kind of help but you will be pulling teeth unless you are handing out money hand over fist. It's all well and good to want to make a Cryptocurrency that is easy to use, everyone wants to do that but the question is also how can you make it profitable over the long-term for investors? provide steady income for Development of the platform? and have it remain secure?

If you want some help, I am here and will help you with a bunch of resources in order to help you learn and won't charge you anything. You will need to be diligent with your own security, anonymity and working through problems on your own while being good at answering peoples questions, concerns and not being eaten alive by trolling. It is good to be active on Bitcointalk but if you just rely on doing it all here, eventually you are going to get drowned out by the ever-increasing threads being created. We have a set of useful forums with resources available but if you decide you want to do your own project instead and still be involved, that's cool too.

2857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: is there a reason why Cryptsy doesn't host ICOs? on: November 24, 2014, 04:50:15 AM

I did pay attention and responded to it on the ones I know more about since some of them you listed I consider successful Coins. I don't need to defend BitJohn, he seems to be pretty good at answering all of your questions on his own.

What is your relationship with BitJohn and Cryptsy? That you think it is necessary to support BitJohn with your posts?

I have little relationship with BitJohn and Cryptsy. I had originally added BitJohn to Skype as someone had got into my Cryptsy account and made off with a large portion of BTC which was due to error on my part. I have also talked with BitJohn and Mullick about a number of topics (mostly questions about coding), suggestions to improve the platform and to see if Mullick would be able to help with some coding work (which he said no to since he was already over worked). I still have BitJohn and Mullick on Skype but haven't talked to either of them in 4-5 months as I'm busy with my own stuff.

Thanks for the explanation. little bit off topic, but what do you think of spoetnikcoin? BitJohn explained he posted there because he doesn't consider it as something serious.
I have met you also in that thread, but to me it seemed you took it very serious? Or did I interpret that wrong?

And how do you know spoetnik is from Canada?

I'm not sure what to make of it but it is fun to be able to add to something and help it along, I think it could be a good investment as long as Spoetnik takes it seriously and would certainly stir a lot of opinions which would create a lot of volume (which is why BitJohn would like it, more volume = more money). A person can and should have a bit of fun but at the end of the day it is always a serious business when it involves peoples hard earned money.

I know Speotnik is from Canada because it has been posted a number of different times by him and other people, he's from my hometown not too far away from where I live.

I am looking for a good wallet designer, do you have any examples of your custom wallet design works?

I have designed many wallets but all work are private. I don't have any example available to show.

I do not see cryptonote coin in this your latest service, are you no longer doing it?

I can still make it if you want. PM me the details.

How did you go with the source check and mining changes on the source I sent you? I will be away for 10 days starting tomorrow and won't have time to do work on it during that time.

It's done. Will send you the source by today. Smiley

I have access to my pc now, you still have the source available to go over? How much do you want for the job? 0.3 BTC alright? I just need help with changes of the change in fees, I can compile the wallets, it's look and all the node stuff.

Yeah, I have the source you sent me. PM me and tell me what other changes do you want.

PMed!
