2841  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] [++ RATES THAN DaDice] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: March 11, 2015, 12:20:15 PM
Is phone verification required for signing up to the campaign? Bit reluctant to hand over so much personal info

Giving phone number doesn't destroy your privacy so much. If you can't give your phone number, get a message forwarding number. Google voice number is better IMHO. A user is selling it in Digital Goods section. Check it.

Think I'll pass for now (still not a full member yet) but I'll keep on eye on the thread for updates. thanks

I think Marco needs to make some post and level up the account but not before the expiration if ban.

2844  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: March 11, 2015, 11:19:08 AM
This one has already been operational for months...

http://nxtfreemarket.com/

Not sure crypto is ready for decentralized ebay, everyone prefers to keep their profiles pseudonymous. Need more average joe's before it will take off.

Unless you're planning on selling crack of course  Cheesy Silkroad shows there can be some success there.

Whoah dude coming here advertising nxt giving strong opinions on what crypto needs telling us what "everyone prefers" is a sure fire way to get ignored.

For your information bazaar has been operational for quite some time also but have been upgrading and also this is a bitcoin forum where people want to spend that is right you guessed it "Bitcoin" not nxt lol

Why would you ignore me, other than to bury your head in the sand?

Do you believe OpenBazaar (minus drugs/kiddy porn/guns etc) will have everyone falling all over each other desperate to use it? There are options already that cater for that (nxtfreemarket is not the only other) and they lay fallow.

So available evidence suggests that users still prefer to use centralized options like ebay for non-criminal sales. It isn't me 'telling' anyone anything, it is the market. Do you have evidence to the contrary of user's preference?

Throw in drugs and you might have a party, it is the only proven success formula for this type of exchange.

OpenBazaar has ZERO consumer protection relying on escrows who are pseudonymous in nature. This is going to be heaven for drugs/kiddy porn/guns etc, but I dont see a reason for it to go mainstream. Fundamentally this is not trust-less either. U need to trust their escrow system.

Consumer protection is something that can be worked on, at this stage there's no point demonising OB as a paedo paradise. Pretty sure they can implement some of mechanism for getting rid of the undesirables. Anything that can offer an alternative to Ebay should be supported IMO.

Seems like a lot of money to spend on a forum but I'm still looking forward to the change over and more functionality (avatars etc). Be good if satoshi came back to bless the new forum Smiley
2846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin really need Google? on: February 25, 2015, 03:27:48 PM
Not really, google can help spread the word but that's about it as far as I'm concerned.
2847  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Reviews of wallets I've used in chronological order on: February 25, 2015, 03:14:42 PM
But in the rare case where you still want a web wallet, I found strongcoin.com and coinpunk.com quite OK. They've both been on the market for quite a while.

Thanks I'll have to check them out.
2848  Economy / Services / Re: Signature Design Contest - [DMD] Diamond coin on: February 25, 2015, 02:34:04 PM
Good move. Maybe I can help a bit. if you need promotional animated banners or signs, for starters, you can use simple options for example:

or plain text

font style and design can be anything, as well as the text itself. This is just an example.

I think mod will ban for this flashy annoying sig.

The online wallet Blockchain.info is very easy to use.

Yes, I'm sure the criminals who use it to steal your BTC give it two thumbs up.

Yeah I stopped using blockchain.info after the last wallet thefts, shame because it used to be my favorite online wallet.
2850  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Scam Alert! Latest Ponzi Collapses -- BE AWARE before BLOWING your funds! on: February 25, 2015, 02:19:43 PM
Why stop stupid people form doing stupid stuff?
Let them learn the hard way...I have warned a lot of this sheep also and even laughed at them.

EVERYONE by now actually knows the Ponzi-scams: they are willingly taking the risk (sometimes only with less dan pennies, by the way)...let them be.

Now I say:"Let them 'invest' and find out"!

Problem is people get blinded by greed and make terrible decisions when investing in these ponzis. That gives more fodder for the media to portray Bitcoin in a negative way which can affect the price for all btc holders.
2851  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are headed to $50 on: February 25, 2015, 02:09:13 PM
Double digits would be depressing as hell but on the flip side it would give us all a chance to accumulate more btc. No more early adopter syndrome.
2852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: police pay ransom in btc on: February 25, 2015, 02:05:23 PM
Sounds a bit far-fetched but could be true, thought the hacker would have asked a lot more ransom after going through the hassle of hacking their computer.
2853  Economy / Marketplace / Re: used miners, where do you sell them? on: February 25, 2015, 01:15:14 PM
You could try slangin' 'em on Cryptothrift, I've used them a few times no with no hassle.

@roosmaa

Open Bazaar is great but there's not enough people using it, would probably take ages to sell goods on there.

Never used Virwox but I've heard they place lots of restrictions on new accounts, could be why your withdrawals been delay.

Personal favorites are Electrum and Bitcoin Core. Even the latest Tails comes with Electrum Smiley

European Lawmakers Demand Answers on Phone Key Theft

https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2015/02/20/gemalto-heist-shocks-europe/

<< European officials are demanding answers and investigations into a joint U.S. and U.K. hack of the world's largest manufacturer of mobile SIM cards, following a report published by The Intercept Thursday. >>

I expect it'll be a complete whitewash, no doubt the NSA/GCHQ have dirt on all the officials demanding an investigation Wink
2857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Darkleaks - A new version of Wikileaks? on: February 21, 2015, 01:56:42 PM
Do you think Darkleaks will become more darker like Silk Road? Or will it stay like Wikileaks?

Darkleaks Uses Bitcoin For Their “Dark” Efforts

Sounds interesting, wonder how they'll stop it being abused with nasty stuff?
2858  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting paid for signature space? on: February 21, 2015, 01:52:09 PM
What are the minimum requirements for selling your signature space to advertisers?  I'm curious as to how this actually works and if you actually get paid? All it basically comes down to is, your promoting they're services right?

Link here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0, self explanatory. The higher a member you are, and the more you post, the more you get paid Smiley

Thanks for the link, any idea if that thread is up to date?
2859  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTER Unable to Repay Customers on: February 21, 2015, 01:07:19 PM
i did not use this but its incedible how much this is happening and its the only down fall that bitcoin has at the moment.

Fairly sure it's only temporary. Apart from the inside jobs it wouldn't be surprising if some of these hacks were by a certain 3-letter agency to disrupt bitcoin's adoption?
2860  Economy / Economics / Re: I just created 100 pennies.. and loaned them out, you owe me 101 pennies….. on: February 21, 2015, 12:56:33 PM
opening a can of worms i see....

I expect by now, 50% of civilized citizen to know how money is just debt....

Zero chance of this. Most of my friends have zero idea what money is.  If 50% knew we would be in a civil war or all the bankers would be hung.  I'd say more like .5% knows.

Yeah most of my family and friends have barely heard the word fiat, let alone understand it. Much easier to embrace the lie...
