It has PCIE plugs that are standard for GPUs and Bitmain miners also use the 6 pin connection. The answer is yes. It's fine for use with anything taking PCIE 6 pin plugs.

If you're looking to use both the CPU and GPU to mine I'd say XMR and ETH or ETN for now. As with cased computers make sure all components are getting properly cooled. Dust can increase temps inside by a lot.

Been a few days and no response from the seller. Of course it's Thanksgiving time and people have days off but having nothing in a while is a little disappointing... At least any response would've been appreciated.
Did he send you tracking? He sent it to me? No, and he hasn't been online since the 23rd. Kinda strange, I'll give it a day or two and then file a scam accusation. Still seems weird and unlikely he'd run off with the money for one Ledger after selling so many more. Resolved resolved, OP had a work emergency.

Bitmain's likely also got connections to the government with their massive mining power and wealth. With so much hardware in China right now I find it difficult to believe mining will be banned in the near future in China. A ban (even temporary) would be pretty devastating to crypto in general as the net hashrate on BTC would drop resulting in slower blocks, price dumps, etc.

The answer is simple. You are mining at the Dash pool with an S9 so the pool rejects your connection and is dead. Switching to the Bitcoin pool on Antpool or going to another Bitcoin mining pool will fix the issue. Nothing besides this is going wrong if this is an S9, if this is a D3 then consider moving the thread to the Altcoin mining section.

The only way you can get Antminers direct is by getting them shipped to your address, even in China pretty sure they do not allow pickups. I'm sure it'd be way cheaper if you actually lived in China due to maybe less shipping costs etc.

I pray dont happened anythinhg like D3
The S9 will probably be profitable for a while more so I don't expect a D3 situation unless difficulty starts going up like dash. There's still a risk with buying the S9, don't get me wrong, but it probably isn't as bad as the D3.

The most easily moddable and slightly quiet miner I can think of is the S5 but it's still weak by today's standards. S7s underclocked are still relatively loud, I've owned a couple and even at minimum fan speed the sound was around ~63-65db on my phone sound meter. I placed mine in my basement and the sound was quiet but still went through to the first floor of my home with the "server"-type noise. Depends what your expectations of sound would be, but for a semi-modern miner an underclocked S7 is probably your best bet.

Seems like this thread has slowly become more of a place for people to farm accounts with nonsense pasted posts than actual discussion. Kinda sad since I actually remember back when R1s actually sold and were an interesting prospect.

Unless your ambient temps are already very high AC isn't really needed and it adds a lot onto your electric bill which you don't want. Instead, install a couple large fans for air intake and exhaust if possible for maximum airflow and position your miners so that heat has somewhere to escape and the miners are taking in cool air. Even if your electrical costs are very cheap it's still not worth it IMO, a simple one room setup worked for me with 10+ S5s in the past.

If Adam Back said that are real, then they are.
And they are not the only one coming with the new miners. Actually I was waiting this to happen long before. It was a shame that a $100B+ crypto business is being controlled only by one manufacturer without any competition...
I hope this changes soon and we won't have to deal with shitmain ever again.
Bitmain will probably stick with us for at least a few years, but hopefully we get more competition like this. There's been competition for a while like Avalon but with another miner hitting close to the S9 hopefully Bitmain at least lowers their prices (which they likely will). I just hope they don't turn into another Ebang with shitty support and all.

It’s not profitable, not interesting
If your electricity price is lower than 10c/kWh, it is usually profitable. What are you talking about? In cloudmining electrical costs are usually fictional and complicated to keep you from reaching ROI. Unless you're talking about non-cloud mining, that's not true. Never trusted cloud mining, never will. Even if you have sound and electrical cost problems hosting is better as you have more access to your hardware.

Last time this happened about a week ago when BCH was more profitable there was indeed a backlog but there were still pools like Slush Pool mining on the BTC chain still. They may go through with it but BTC will probably still prevail. Haven't kept up with the difficulty stuff on BCH recently but there should still be something that will eventually make BTC mining more profitable eventually.

Avalon and especially Ebit have had problems relating to shipping and order processing lately. Antminers aren't generally that reliable and repairs on them are expensive, but I'd still take a look at those two brands of miners if I were you. Electrical costs seem a little high but as long as you keep the miners cool by having good airflow into the room you are keeping the miners in and are okay with the sound the miners make (about equivalent to a vacuum cleaner) you're good.
Too many people buy industrial miners thinking they're quiet but they really aren't. In my experience even keeping these in the basement isn't going to be 100% quiet as they make some higher pitched noise.

Most antminers won't work if you want low noise. The ones that come to mind that are somewhat quieter are the S3 and S5 (can be fanmodded), the else are either the unreliable R4 or loud as hell industrial miners.

Nothing too impressive here imo. Recently there was a deal for a $200 6GB 1060 IIRC posted on r/Buildapcsales that sold out in minutes. GPU deals for the RX series cards look nice though. Doesn't seem like this Black Friday will be incredibly great for components. On another note Fry's has a R5 1600 and MSI B350M board for $169.99 as a doorbuster on Black Friday with shipping and pickup in-store. You just need to sign up for their newsletter and you'll get the promo code for it on Thanksgiving.

Only problem is that AliExpress generally doesn't accept Bitcoin upfront and the sellers will probably scam you and refuse escrow if you try to get them to accept Bitcoin. $200 for an S5 is a horrible deal, dunno why you even posted this. AliExpress doesn't even accept Bitcoin as an official payment method. Posting this on a Bitcoin forum for a product that doesn't even accept Bitcoin as payment and is massively overpriced = yes they don't accept bitcoin but they have positive feedback from buyers and reviews It doesn't change the fact that the price of this miner is horribly overpriced and that Bitcoin nor any crypto isn't a payment method... Why would you post something like this in the first place when crypto is clearly not even a payment method? It makes no sense. A month or two ago you could find S5s readily available for around $100 dollars.

I’d be happy to do this for you as well. I’d suggest moving this to your goods thread as well since this isn’t typically what goes in the services section. Just hit me up with a PM and I’ll review it as soon as I get back from work.
