I used Armory in the first place for cold storage. Switched to Trezor and no longer use it. Now that hardware wallets are common and inexpensive Armory is looking long in the tooth. If it would fully support Trezor (multiple hidden wallets with passphrases) it would have an edge over myTrezor and Multibit HD as a more private solution. I would very much like to use a fully validating node with Trezor. Would I pay for it? Nope.

I ran the new 2.5.1 .exe on my Windows 7 system. It ran my Trezor based wallet and it ran my software wallet. I also ran this version on my Windows 8 system, testing it with my Trezor and it worked OK. I did message signing tests and sending tranactions with the Trezor.
Looks good! Thanks, Thomas!
Which 2.5.1 did you run, the one Thomas posted earlier i.e. the test one or the electrum-2.5.1-portable.exe ? Just want to check because if it was the portable one then something must be wrong with my setup. Just tried sending from it again and nothing happens when I press on the send button. Your installation must be corrupted. The true portable 2.5.1 works fine for me and does not save files to %AppData%

Of course the keep key looks the best... it has a touchscreen and its from the US! Great list though, well done.
Do you guys think it's worth it to b buy a keep key, or just use an old hard drive as my wallet?
KeepKey does not have a track record yet ... can not yet be used with your phone ... and costs $139 more than a Trezor. Trezor has been out over a year now and works great. Sure Trezor is small and plastic, but you can carry it in your pocket on your key ring. You can buy a Ledger and Starter USB for $40 but Trezor is well worth the extra $60 for the screen, I use both of them.

Key vulnerability of hardware wallets or offline computers is they can break down, without need to be physically damaged (unlike a paper wallet)
Not really. If you use Trezor the 24 word seed generates all your addresses and private keys. You can consider the seed your wallet, not the plastic device. If you lose your Trezor all you need is to recover from seed using a new Trezor. Or you can use another BIP32, BIP39 and BIP44 wallet like Electrum. Write your seed on paper and you can consider Trezor a "paper wallet" you can actually use daily. No one has been able to argue that Trezor is not secure. Some nitpick that there is some lack of privacy because you can not yet use Trezor with a full node like Bitcoin Core, but Armory has stated that a new release will support Trezor, erasing that last objection. Anyone with more than a few bitcoin who is not using cold storage is taking a rather large chance. Trezor is the most convenient way to use cold storage and a bargain at $99. Ledger is another choice at $40 but it is worth spending an extra $60 to get the screen on Trezor.

I really want to know if choosecase is real, it suppose to ship on Sept 21,2015. I wanted to preorder, but was very cautious of bitcoin hardware preorders. I hear you. I pre-ordered a Case as soon as sales were open back in May. They sent me an email back in September that they would be shipping Sept. 21, here it is over a month later and I have not received the Case yet. No tracking, no further emails. I know they sent out some but had problems with the charger overheating. I would not order from them until they get their act together. That is a shame because it looked like a convenient way to store one or two bitcoin as a hot wallet for easy shopping.

Is he the owner of 99bitcoins.com ? if so is it the only buisness that he has other than selling "his" ideas? AFAIK. Ofir set up 99bitcoins and built a mailing list fast by offering 100 bits free for signing up. He filled the site with content geared to promoting products he was an affiliate of. His ebook Dirty Little Secrets ($15) explains how he did it. There is some good info in that book for anyone looking to create a website geared to affiliate marketing. I think he got in on the ground floor of some companies like Plus500 and as one of the early affiliates made good money until that well dried up. He sold many copies of the book at a much higher price when it came out. Ofir can write well no doubt. Couple of points: building a mailing list is the most important thing any blog owner can do. The list is life. If you have writing talent an ebook explaining any complex subject can be a good earner for you. Worked for Ofir. It only takes your time to write so any income from ebook direct sales is all profit. Take a good look at 99bitcoins and if that business model appeals to you the ebook will explain how to copy. Remember: there is no free lunch and there is a lot of work involved especially in writing. I have not bought the video course so can not comment. I really doubt there are any new pearls in that course that can justify $200 but I might be wrong. Google is very picky now and you can not fill a blog with crap and expect good rankings for keywords. You have to write quality content or pay someone to do it for you. Once you build a blog up to 30 to 50 thousand visits a month you can get good income from Adsense.

Are you using the latest 0.11.1 Bitcoin Core? Armory still signs transactions HighS while 0.11.1 requires LowS. Armory devs have promised an update soon.

Sorry to hear that. Without hidden wallets and address labels that means myTrezor users who want additional features will go with Electrum over MultiBit HD.

Yes I know about 2.5.1 portable. That is not relevant, I still have a question for a Trezor developer: is Trezor actually signing a transaction LowS which overrides Electrum (or any other wallet that supports Trezor?) If so since there has not been a firmware update since the malleability issue it would seem the Trezor has always signed LowS. Still trying to wrap my head around how exactly Trezor works, the FAQ does not go into detail.

OrangeWebsite in Iceland is another privacy respecting domain registrar and hosting company that accepts bitcoin. You can buy a top level domain from them with bitcoin and remain private. The article at gun.io blog referenced in OP is 3 years old and could be updated. How does Gandi compare to OrangeWebsite for anonymous website hosting?

Does 0.1.4 used with Trezor support hidden wallets with passphrase yet? Thanks.

Yes, I follow the Electrum threads. My question above still stands as I would like to clarify how Trezor works thanks.

Once you get this sorted, and I am sure you will, you might ask yourself if you would be more comfortable using Trezor for cold storage long term.

I agree. Earning online is hard work. I guess he gets most of his Bitcoin by blogging. When you have lots of readers, you can get $ for ads or selling them courses. If you are in the money making blogging, then you also get lots of affiliates. I guess that is his secret, but requires writting, good marketing, ad and products optimizing... hard work as you say.
Yes, if you follow Ofir's advice you are going to be doing a lot of writing which is not for everyone. You also might consider finding a product you are passionate about, would enjoy selling that you can get wholesale. Then it is a simple matter to put up a website to promote and take orders. Besides credit cards accept bitcoin of course:) Take a look at my news magazine. I created it in less than a day using a paid Wordpress theme. If I want to branch out from blogging it is no problem to add on a WooCommerce shop.

Has anyone ever bought this video tutorial https://www.udemy.com/how-to-make-money-with-bitcoin/ from udemy and is it really possible to earn this much without trading or mining? I can see it involves creating your own website as he mentioned in course description which is 99Bitcoins. The video course cost about $200 which I believe can be too much. is this worth? I seriously doubt it. Ofir's business model is affiliate marketing and teaching others to do the same for a fee. I certainly have no problem with that. Most of his income last year when I read his book "My Dirty Little Bitcoin Secrets" was from affiliate sales of Plus500. That particular well has run dry it seems as he no longer promotes it. I imagine the udemy course is just his book in video format, perhaps with some new tidbits thrown in. Up to you if you want to pay $197 for it. You might just buy the Dirty Little Secrets book first for 15 bucks to see if you like his approach. There is plenty of good info in the book and it is worth $15. There is no magic formula for success online you can buy. Making a living online is hard work and few people are able to do it.

I'll be glad to test a true portable version that does not write to %AppData%

I have a question for one of the Trezor developers please. ThomasV posted that all versions of Electrum prior to 2.5.1 signed transactions HighS. He had to release a new version of Electrum to agree with the mandate for LowS in latest Bitcoin Core 0.11.1 to end the malleability attack by amaclin. If one tries to spend bitcoin from an earlier version of Electrum the send fails.
I can still use my Trezor with portable Electrum 2.3.2 no problem. Is Trezor actually signing a transaction LowS which overrides Electrum?

-snip- 0.24999772 BTC went to some random address that I don't know of. -snip- WTF is this shit? Did I just get robbed or what? Thats your change. You used a 1 BTC bill to pay 0.75 BTC to your friend and 228 Satoshi to the miners. Your change is thus 1-0.75-0.00000228 = 0.24999772 BTC You can see the address is part of your wallet if you enable coin control (Settings -> Options -> Wallet) and go to Send -> Inputs -> List mode Weird, I never knew about this. Thanks for explaining it to me. But why would the TX fee have changed? I've never touched it? I've done hundreds of transactions without anything like this ever happening....... Times change. Try using .0005 fee for all transactions.
