It is a hardware wallet very similar in usage to a Trezor, but with a bigger screen (and a bigger price tag!).

You use it to sign your Bitcoin transactions. We like it (and Trezor) as then we do not have the wallet's private keys on the desktop. This is a lot more secure.

If you want to see a YouTube of it being used have a look at :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLzvQAsYL20

The manufacturer's website (https://www.keepkey.com) also has some good descriptive stuff on it.

Does 0.1.4 used with Trezor support hidden wallets with passphrase yet? Thanks.

Nope.
We do not intend to support this feature - it is not an oversight by us or because we have been spending too much time walking the dog or anything.  Smiley

Passwords/ passphrases are imperfect things because human memory is imperfect.
With a Trezor 'hidden wallet' passphrase there is no way we can offer password recovery if the user forgets their passphrase.

(We have implemented password recovery with regular MultiBit HD wallets - simply enter in your wallet words and it will tell you your password).

We found with MultiBit Classic that people forget their passwords at a rate of about 1 per 50,000 people months. i.e. if you have 50,000 users one will forget their password every month.

With password recovery this isn't a problem (as long as they have their wallet words).
But with NO password recovery the user will lose access to their bitcoins.
We want to avoid this.

If a user plugs in a passphrase protected Trezor we detect this and give them a message saying that we don't support this feature.

Sorry to hear that. Without hidden wallets and address labels that means myTrezor users who want additional features will go with Electrum over MultiBit HD.

You can easily label addesses in MultiBit HD.

Receive addresses - create a new address with 'Request' and you can add a 'public' note that will appear on the QR code, and/or a private note, which doesn't.

Sending - you can label the send tx with a note.

RE: going to Electrum. Sure - Electrum's a very good wallet so if people want features that are only on Electrum they'll use that.
MultiBit HD is deliberately kept simple for new users so it'll be a bit basic for some people.

There are lots of wallets to choose from now so users will pick the one that matches their particular needs the best.

Thanks !

It is a bit fiddly to set the auto update (we got it wrong for 0.1.2 !) but it should really help in keeping people's versions up to date.
