2841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Our Personal Data Still Safe or Has Been Sold? on: May 14, 2021, 08:27:42 AM

once you receive emails from someone or from a company you didn't subscribe to or know, it's sure that your data had been sold. sometimes it not literally sold. there are email farmers actually who collect online and they are paid by someone who wants to do email marketing.

but once you have google account and use chrome where you login you email, you can't hide anymore. especially to someone who uses this email to trading accounts.
2842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Elon Musk's goal with Dogecoin? on: May 14, 2021, 08:12:30 AM

i remember he said that dogecoin is made out of joke. and was purposely made to make fun of cryptocurrency which he also add that "faith love irony" to which the cryptocurrency that was made out of a joke in fact becomes the real currency. this is the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_U_dOOI9us

i really think he is serious about doge being one of the cryptocurrencies of the future and it was to make fun still.
2843  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin donated billions to India to fight Covid-19 crisis on: May 14, 2021, 08:02:50 AM

lol this was the money they sent to Vilatlik's wallet  Grin they thought Vitalik will not sell the ones they sent to him. i was laughing when he actually did it.
the team was trying to burn tokens by sending them to vitalik's wallet.

but its for good cause though. helping India with the crisis they have now is a very noble thing to do. and that at least the money didn't go waste. thanks to vitalik.
2844  Economy / Gambling / Re: Very immoral marketing strategy. on: May 14, 2021, 07:58:44 AM
Every decision to play the slots is the responsibility of each person himself. Every time you play, at the same time you have to be ready to accept defeat or victory, there is nothing wrong with that. You just need to prepare well, whether you have a strategy to win or not.
You are out of the context by some margin but what is said is right. If you are 18+ and you are gambling then it is your responsibility that you are not influenced by a content creator.

Now coming back to the topic, I am not sure which streamers are doing this but from what I have seen on stake's official stream that is Eddie, he almost all the time loses on slots and if there was a chance that he streams to attract players then he would not show his losses and can replay his wins instead as some third party games allow wins to be replayed.

If stake is sponsoring any streamer you know that is asked to show his wins and hide their losses then you should post more details about it @OP. If there exist such streamers then they must mention that the funds they are using in the video are sponsored by the casino, that's for sure.

i don't know if we completely lost track of the discussions but afaik this is just whether the casinos using the streamers playing for them and then influence anyone watching them. if this marketing strategy is either moral or not it's just marketing. of course they won't show the loss otherwise they couldn't influence users to join and play. whether we can actually weigh which is right or wrong, they will still be doing it anyway because its not illegal in the eyes of the law.

2845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 13, 2021, 11:58:47 AM
So, are we really counting out Ferguson already? I'm actually a fan of him, he will fight anyone, and although he did definitely get pieced up by Justin, he always brings a fight. Don't forget it wasn't like it was completely clean sailing for Justin, he also got dropped if my memory serves me correctly. "Old" man Ferguson still has it in him yet, and I believe while not being favorite here, he has more of a chance that people are letting on.

Old man Ferguson that is a good one, I really like Tony Ferguson to win against Beneil Dariush because I really don't know Dariush that much, and this time it is a really crucial fight for him and for people to gain trust again that he can sure come back from this, I really hate to say it but I don't really want to compare him to any fighter but he is no level of Nurmagomenodov that is for sure, but this time if he lose in this match sad to say I think it is bye-bye for him.

Ferguson is somewhat of a step up for Dariush imo.  Leaning Ferguson but I’m staying away from the betting market.  It’s a popcorn fight.

From a betting perspective I’m looking at Pickett at 1.96, Grundy at 1.85, Barboza at 2.22, Araujo at 2.24 and Chandler 2.22.  I might just do a parlay and get 40.03 for my bet.

UFC 262:  Embedded Ep. 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2fML1EDyVo

Yup! it really is a step up for Dariush and a let down for Ferguson if he doesn't prove himself in this fight, and just like you I am staying away from betting as well I can not read if Ferguson had learned from his previous fights and he might use what he learned in this fight, Or Beniel Dariush will win this, I really don't want Tony Ferguson to quit without even proving himself that all is not lost, but I can not see any hint that he can win this one as well so I would just go with the Main Event.

In my opinion, Charles Oliveira can take the win here I believe it will be a good fight but Oliveira is an all-rounder he has good striking and can also take the fight on the ground so no doubt Oliveira will win, and if you look the odds on stake.com the odds is in favor for Beniel Dariush and Charles Oliveira.

it will always remind me what happen to chandler against will brook where he seem to dont know where he was and simply waves his hands like he is saying NO.  hes a good wrestler so its the take down that olivera has to watchout.

true. ferguson isnt as good as he was years ago. time has come but wish him a win or two before retiring.

2846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What really makes a cryptocurrency successful on: May 13, 2021, 09:37:39 AM
Sometimes five years ago, trading fees are not at all a concern. But nowadays people are considering high transaction fees is an obstacle for success of coin. But, definitely I will not agree with that because bitcoin is right now having massive transaction fees still it keeps appreciating. On the other hand market capitalization is just another metric but economically not having any significant meaning.

A real use case and active devs team are more important in my opinion. But nowadays, coins with the no real purposes are finding success because of heavy promotion. When dev team is coming up the strong marketing strategies then they are easily hitting bull's eye.
I definitely agree with you mate, for me first thing that might be the major reason for a success of a certain project or ICO goes to the active and development team behind every successful token. There is no other than to credit but them because they are the reason for a successful improvement of token that leads to atteact investors or traders and mass adoption.

Lets just take a look with the high gas fee of ethereum too, this is the main concern for every traders and investors for the last couple months but it has nothing to do with the successful market of ethereum today.
Can we simply take a look at these things and say that "a coin/token with a great marketing could make an insane profit at the short term but the coin/token with the great dev team and a good use case will always earn you more in the long run"?

I mean it is obvious that marketing can take you somewhere but if it is a bad coin then it is a bad coin and nothing could beat that, there is no chance that we could have a coin that could continue to make you profit for years if there is nothing being done by the dev team that resembles a good improvement.

we didn't really mind those fees before but that is because the price was just too little that we only ignore it but you can think about it today because the value of 0.0005BTC is already $25. this price is way high compared to using Paypal transaction.

if we consider the transaction fee as part of success i think we should be looking at the project that we can make a transaction without fee.
EOS would be the best candidate for this and it recently just blow up because some billionaires had just added funds to Block.one for an exchange development.
2847  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: MMA Info and Predictions - Bellator, KSW, PFL, ONE... on: May 13, 2021, 08:06:30 AM
43 years old ex UFC fighter Brandon Vera is fighting with Arjan Bhullar in One Championship main event in May 15 and I couldn't found any website for betting on this fight but Bhullar looks like favorite and has only one defeat so far.
Interesting thing is that Dan Hardy started to work with One, and may start to fight again after he was released from UFC.
Hardy last fight in UFC was back in 2012 and he was working as UFC commentator but he is now free agent, and he may see him fight again.

https://www.onefc.com/

i like dan's analysis when it comes to being a commentator, he doesn't just emphasize the skills of the fighter but also the positions they do in the cage.

agree its surprising to see they still fight with the age they have. i favour vera in this match. i want the fight to end with KO or TKO, not the boring one. Bhullar doesn't deliver KO or TKO fights, there is a chance that this will be boring unless Vera initiates.
2848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Convert tokens to prominent currencies than holding them forever on: May 13, 2021, 07:41:41 AM
Yeah but currently the Ethereum price is pretty high, compared to the 380$/ETH we used to see two years back or so.

The dollar cost average of shitcoins being sold may have also dropped. See when ETH rises, and if the shitcoin's price rises at the same time, the ratio remains similar and you probably would not be making much profit even at this price. Of course holding a shitcoin makes no sense, but tell that to a altcoin shill, you would never be able to change their stance.

I often tell users to sell shitcoins at loss because they have no future development occurring and they might be a die hard fan, but that coin will end up abandoned.

Another method is to sell the shitcoin at USDT value and use USDT to buy ETH if ETH drops or BTC if BTC drops.

it dips to $80 actually that should have been the greatest opportunity for someone who sees the potential to climb this high. today there are already ETH ETF on the Canadian market which is pretty much an indicator of its bullish time. speculations on youtube about eth is more ridiculous but they do have some point at least they laid reasons why they believe so. $100K for ETH but ye why not.

2849  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy every dip, and HODL! on: May 13, 2021, 06:49:48 AM

hodling is stressful at some point when its the only money you have. the moment it dips because of elon's tweet, i was about to reply how fuckedup his brain.

time will tell. i actually converted my ETH at $52000 last week and i thought it was the dippest it could get before it goes back up to $64 again and break out. heck this analysis of mine isn't as sharp as i thought. i didn't see how it goes below $47k today, if i was just watching the chart i could have panicked already. but okay I'm gonna hold.
2850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla destroys bitcoin :-[ on: May 13, 2021, 05:16:51 AM

yup we've seen that tweet and resulted to slide down to $46,294. for someone out there who watches his money-draining, he would really begin to panic and sell. that's how fast things could happen and if you go long on leverage, you probably get a margin call, and all because of a tweet. altcoins however are still strong.

if elon is really going to accept doge, he could just announce it without this.

2851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Internet Computer (ICP) - what's that? on: May 12, 2021, 10:27:01 AM
There is a new coin listed in CMC which immediately went up to the 8th position within just one day.

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/internet-computer/

The main company behind this coin is dfinity. Org. Which seems to be another coin with smart contract capability with great scaling opportunity. I mean we have many other coins of Similar sort.

What's special about this one?

It's a pretty big project that raised a lot of money back in 2017 or 2018 i think then it was silent for a long time until a few months ago. Also there was a airdrop of this coin back in 2018 where you had to pay the KYC-fee for the airdorp yourself (around 9$ in ETH) then you would get 28 ICP for that. Some users even got 119 ICP if they were in their telegram channel early. A small percentage (<10%) of this airdrop and i guess also of the coins of the sale are now unlocked and the project is just so big and hyped that the big exchanges immediately listed it.

hell thats a big amount. sell it 😄

i've also heard of that dfinity project before but i never thought its really a big project. their ticker isn't ICP as far as i know.
so there is money from airdrop. you got to wonder how this sudden rise of price. anything that you learn about it or announcement they did?
2852  Economy / Economics / Re: The Modern Mode of Payments on: May 12, 2021, 06:28:02 AM
Although that it will take a long time for this to happen, I can see that coming. Imagine that we don’t need physical bills and coins anymore because it contributes to the widespread of the virus. We can see that by just paying for transportation, foods and drinks in the resto, etc., we’re just using our mobile phones to scan QR codes for contactless transactions. This is definitely going to be amazing, but I don’t know when we could see that happen. Maybe in a few decades from now?

I don't think that should ever happen, physical coins and notes are necessary because online transactions need the internet for happening, and without it, it's as if we don't have any money even if we are a millionaire, and so if I eat at a restaurant and for some reason my phone switches off or if my bank server goes down, I'm stuck! Until that problem is solved, I won't be able to pay. So I think, tangible form of money is necessary always!

there could be a time that all these will actually happen. the banknotes and coins will probably apply to remote areas but in major cities, the contactless transaction will be much convenient for people.

in some cities in China, the vendors on the streets will only display QR codes of the fruits for anyone to scan in order to buy. Paymaya and Gcash i think has this functionality. i do have cash but just use it for paying shopee and lazada.

2853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dfinity/ICP Speculation thread on: May 12, 2021, 06:01:45 AM
if u talking about price , nah , that a bad idea, its just 3 days old, but well , they just jumped so easily to top 10 within a days. About project it self , well hard wok has paying off, now we just watch the market enthusiasm.

indeed it's a very new project and it's very uncertain to buy as of this time. It's surprising to see it already is among the top 10 in just a few days. i thought its coinmarketcap's frank again like what they did with the toilet paper token. not really sure why its price is this high. i haven't got time to actually learn what this project is about but it looks like its another platform.
2854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to seek help if you need; concerned with gambling addiction. on: May 12, 2021, 05:04:07 AM
I doubt a pure gambling addict is reading here at Bitcointalk. They don't want this advice stuffs. Smiley

But the topic is more helpful for people that want to help others to overcome their addiction. Since these gamblers will not read this kind of stuff, we, as a gambler that still in control will help those struggling ones.

The goal is to minimize their gambling addiction, not to advise them to stop gambling right away as there's a process for it. It's hard for these gamblers to just stop completely as it needs time for them to adjust to a lifestyle that they never used to.

i doubt so too. if he's here he'd be tempted to click my signature link to roll a dice before he can try reading any advice. but if it's OP that is already addicted, he might really read the advice posted in this thread.

he'd rather be reading the advice in the forum than going to a nuthouse and jail himself. it just really need the diversion of the attention from gambling to a hobby of the past.
2855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul - June 6 on: May 12, 2021, 04:54:29 AM
Did anyone else notice during the press conference when Mayweather was either talking or just holding the mic up to his face, Logan Paul's little brother was untying his shoe laces? I'm not going to lie, I'm not a massive fan of him, but that's quite funny. He definitely knows how to antagonize his opponents, and after all Jake probably does want to get a fight wither Mayweather after the Logan fight, since its big money, and lets be honest that's all these two brothers really care about.

You mean this one?

https://twitter.com/MichaelBensonn/status/1390432368318685186

Yeah, maybe Floyd give him a free pass with this one, but he already take notice of this childish prank from the two. But when he pulled his "Gotcha Hat" Floyd felt disrespected in front of millions so he needs to do something about it, resulting in a brawl.

I don't think that Floyd get offended as you have said, he even tie it again.

But probably this is the first time that Floyd saw this act on his boxing career. In boxing it's more of a trash talk, but here, just a prank, like what they are known for as Youtube sensationalist. So let's see the fight between Logan Paul and Floyd, this could have more drama and all for the money.

it's sometimes new though that Floyd becomes the not so annoying kid and the two are the antagonist. but i got to say these two Pauls got balls.
if this isn't an act or if this opponent is just a Mexican, not a second Floyd's fist is going to fly to the face of Logan's brother, he can't even bend to untie a lace. its a good show though and makes Floyd's personality better, good PR.

2856  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying/Selling Bitcoin for Cash... on: May 12, 2021, 04:03:47 AM

it seems to be the case on p2p exchange. if he is buying 1BTC, 5% is a big amount which will discourage a buyer to buy a big amount of BTC. but those guys selling and buying BTC there are doing it for business i guess they would really increase rates. if that $60k is the market price then a little fee for less hassle for him in going to exchange and submitting KYC data is fair.
2857  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to seek help if you need; concerned with gambling addiction. on: May 11, 2021, 12:56:03 PM

if you realized you become addicted to gambling i'm sure you could also find a way to stop it. people who figured he is addicted will figure something else to do as long as he can make money out of it. money is always the case that makes a person gamble and become addicted in the end.

my aunt got addicted to gambling because his husband was a sailor, she always imagine things like the husband must be sleeping with a girl every time the ship reaches a port. we give her something else to do like cooking cakes and cookies and make it a business. it did work for awhile. 😬
2858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man lost £20,000 in one night after becoming addicted to online gambling! on: May 11, 2021, 07:12:44 AM
I do not believe the news as it is told.

Newspapers live by causing emotions in people, both positive and negative, and the Mirror even more so.

The way the story is told, it seems as if the protagonist had an ideal life, without any previous problems, and suddenly, overnight, he developed a serious gambling addiction problem.
maybe drugs as noted in a comment:

Quote
“I was a train wreck,” he said. “I was shut off, I was drinking more, I felt so down, so hopeless and so ashamed - I didn’t want to tell anyone, not even my family.

Bold is mine.

the image on the page was that he was a very decent man actually. dresses nicely and shaved. but you can see his fingers with tattoos. take that jacket off and you will see that it's not just gambling that made him what he is today. there could be more skin-popping scars in there.

good for him though he realizes while he is still alive. hope he recovers well and finds a place in this world that is not related to casino.

he must have some BTC already. no reason to name his goats that way. but goats don't symbolize uptrend. it should be significant if they were calves.

he really had a hard time with the US government but did his time. when someone powerful as him owns the biggest social media in the world and then wants to make a currency of its own, he will be punished. time for BTC integrated with FacebookPay.
