2861  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Moving wallet from one phone to another on: December 26, 2019, 01:31:39 PM
Using seeds to move your funds from old phone to new one is a good method. It help you to:
- Understand the mechanism of wallet backup (with seeds) and recovery (from seeds).
- Move your funds without any loss as fees for transactions.
There are risks if you don' reset your old phone after import seeds to new phone, and if you leave your phone out of your control, you might lose your funds when someone get access to your old phone as well as your wallet from that phone.

There is another method, but you will have to take some minor loss for transaction fees.
Install new wallet, with new seed on your new phone; then move your funds from old wallet (on old phone) to new wallet (on new phone). It is always an option if you have large fund enough compares to transaction fee.

I still would advise you to do the first method.

A reminder:
If you use Electrum wallet, you have an option to expand seeds from 12 (default) to 24. When it comes to the step of seeds, choose the Option, and tick on "Extend this seed with custom words"
2862  Other / Meta / Re: Demanding additional [li] tags in list !! on: December 26, 2019, 08:41:45 AM
At least, I have a tut for you.
Instead of manually typing 1. & 2. for your list, like that
  • 1. Because I am too lazy to type/paste more.
  • 2. Because it's Christmas

Wait! Did I just create list with two items?
You can use the option type=decimal, that will automatically replace bullets with ordinal numbers for your list.
Example:
  • First item
  • Second item
Code:
[list type=decimal]
[li]First item[/li]
[li]Second item[/li]
[/list]
2863  Other / Meta / Re: Demanding additional [li] tags in list !! on: December 26, 2019, 04:41:51 AM
I agree a bit though. It's completely fine when I'm on my computer as I can easily copy-paste, but goddamn it's definitely a hassle when I'm typing on mobile.
Typing
Code:
[li][/li]
does not take too much time and I doubt that there are users who plan to type long will be eagerly to do it on mobile.
When they plan to make a long reply, they might wait till having access to computer

How often people make list with more than 2 items?
How many people want to do a long reply on mobile?
I imagine the answer will be found with these two questions.
2864  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Bpip] Question for LoyceV or Vod. on: December 26, 2019, 04:36:33 AM
Answer from Vod.
Any idea when we can use BPIP again?
At this point I'm not sure.
2865  Other / Meta / Re: What if Theymos added new Rank after Legendary? on: December 25, 2019, 12:32:55 PM
Legendary I with 1000 merit, 775-1030 activity and 1030 post
Legendary II with 2000 merit, 1550-2060 activity and 2060 post
Legendary III with 3000 merit, 2325-3090 activity and 3090 post

Don't offend but I don't like them. They look like membership of Ponzi scheme.

Chop Legend or Chopper, why not?
Those users who satisfy requirements for the new rank, above Legendary member rank, is somewhat outstanding, somewhat above-all.
2866  Other / Meta / Re: Session timed out while posting? on: December 25, 2019, 03:54:24 AM
It is a tut for you.

Personally, before I knew how to do it, I sometimes lost my post content, and I have to retype it when facing with session time-out.

1. Always click on Preview button in order to have a back up of your post in draft page. You can see more in my topic - Draft page - Pros & Cons
2. If you don't do this (Preview button), there is another tut for you to get your post content back. Click on the backward button on your browser to get post content and use Refresh.
3. How to release contents when session time-out appears?
Copy your contents
Click on backward button to go back to previous page (the topic you want to release your post inside it).
Click on Reply button again
Paste the content (that you copied earlier) and click on Preview (just in case you need to use drafts later) and Post it.
2867  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do Spendable Merits expire? on: December 25, 2019, 01:50:45 AM
Really don't think spendable merits will have an expiring date. It's not something you'll hoard for so long without meriting someone else. Hoard smerits won't upgrade your rank or make someone special, it's created to rank members for their contribution in the btt forum
Yes, admin might take action to decay sMerits at anytime he want. Please see the quote, take your notice at the red-painted part. You can see this by click on Merit button after logging in your account.

I think the probability to see the sMerit decay is very low, but it is not impossible.
Quote
You have received a total of 476 merit. This is what determines your forum rank. You typically cannot lose this merit. You have 16 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you, and we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future.
2868  Other / Meta / Re: Prejudice against signature campaigns on: December 24, 2019, 02:11:22 AM
If you joined the forum to discuss with the others, to ask for advice from the others, to help the others, why signatures affect how you post?

Signatures from shitposters are annoying, I agree but there is an option to disable signature. Let's do it if you don't want to see signature (and avatars, too).

How to do this?
Profile ---> Look and Layout Prefereces ---> Don't show users' signatures; Don't show users' avatars.
You can choose one of two options or both.

What to do if you still have interests to see signatures, to discover new interesting, and likely good companies, that can change the world, let's allow signature displays but if you see any shitposters, click on Ignore them.

The topic is a good one to read: The end of an era for me: Leaving Signature Campaign
2869  Other / Meta / Re: Script to Change Bitcointalk Background Color on: December 24, 2019, 01:49:51 AM
I just searching and found this code on Github
~ snip ~
You have add 2 code front original code like Green [#008000] to be transparency 50% >> [#80000000]. I have not tried it

Or you have to pick one here: https://www.rapidtables.com/web/color/html-color-codes.html
those a lot of colour without add transparent code on the line
Thank you, OP.

I don't want to personalize too much, and the default (theme, background) of the forum are good for me. However, I thought I brought a good on-topic discussion on themes' modification and personalization, from which the others who love it will have one of good directions to further discuss.
2870  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum wallet - Update safely and avoid phishing wallets? on: December 24, 2019, 01:43:55 AM
Useful topic especially for newbies who are using electrum wallet.
It is a useful reminder for tenured users too, not only newbies. I know there are some tenured users are still lazy to ignore the verification steps.
You are right that people should never click on any popup messages from any softwares that remind updating to newest versions. The correct steps to do is always visit and check official update news on official websites, not social media channels (facebook, twitter).

For people who store decent funds in wallets, verification is a must thing to do.
Prevention is better than cure. Don't start to mind about verification wallets after losing your funds.
This is a nice thread which has important pictures that will help newbies understand how to update their Electrum wallet, and after the last few attacks I’m sure people will want to follow the instructions written in this thread.
As always, not all people care to do steps that can help them to increase their security.
Quote
Another method of keeping one’s Electrum wallet safe is by using it’s app, because I never got any notification to update it in the app and overall I feel Electrums mobile app is secure and super easy to use.
It is wrong (somewhat) because the security of your funds depends on some components: The wallet's quality and security; your devices' security; your methods to take care of your PIN, private keys, passwords, and more things.
2871  Other / Meta / Re: MERIT MEGA DUMP THREAD [DUMPING 100 MERITS] on: December 23, 2019, 11:14:35 AM
Because they tend to join conferences together, like in the https://cc-forum.com/agenda/
Craig Wright claims that he is a real Satoshi, but can not retrieve bitcoin from genesis block or sign a message to prove that he was the one who activated the bitcoin network. Additionally, he blamed on his old laptop was broken and hardisk replaced by staffs in customer service.

His White paper is a shame and very low quality compared to Whitepaper of Bitcoin we all know released by real Satoshi Nakamoto.

2872  Other / Meta / Re: FREE MERIT COME FAST BEFORE I RUN OUT [Happy Holidays] on: December 23, 2019, 09:17:29 AM
I have not yet seen the others talking about the important unofficial members of the forum.

Mr. Merit and Mrs. sMerits, I love them all!

Merry Christmas, you all!
2873  Other / Meta / Re: Script to Change Bitcointalk Background Color on: December 23, 2019, 05:45:28 AM
And please keep this thread on a topic about the background
Ok, I am going to stay on-topic, about the background, not theme.

Could you add an option to adjust the transparency of the background, please.

It is not good if the background looks more eyes-catching than the theme, and texts. If there are ways to adjust transparency to help it become more blurry, it will be good.

Something like:
Code:
default
default*0.5 : 50% of default transparency
default*0.3: 30% of default transparency
Above is my ideas, I am not a coder.

We are here to read and discuss, not only to look at background, so it will be good if there are personalization options with a transparency option too.
2874  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Python and blockchain how to start? on: December 23, 2019, 04:01:16 AM
I recommend you to read The Phyton Tutotrial, you can save every tutorial there.
Python, not Phyton. Please correct your typo above.
2875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GOLD - First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold on: December 23, 2019, 03:15:51 AM
The price of the GOLD token depends on the real gold price. That's why if the gold price will rise or fall the price of the GOLD token will move in the same way.
It is a neat explanation, from which who are unfamiliar with GOLD token will understand that GOLD token is backed by 'real' gold. Interestingly to know another fact that God has been used as a mean of storage over decades in human civilization. By now, there are no alternatives for GOLD that completely replace Gold. There are some metal that more expensive than gold, but they can not totally replace gold.

Gold is more common and more favorite by human, globally.
2876  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum wallet - Update safely and avoid phishing wallets? on: December 23, 2019, 03:06:47 AM
If you are a fan of Electrum wallet, you have to learn how to download, verify, install it as safely as possible.
2877  Other / Meta / Re: Can Merit Sources for Specific Sub-Forum use sMerit outside of that Sub-Forum? on: December 23, 2019, 01:30:04 AM
There is no official restrictions on which board(s) one merit source has to use all allocated sMerits as a source. Although there are something merit sources should consider:
- It partially depends on details in their merit sources applications (if they did applied themselves, not automatically was chosen by theymos at the kickoff of the merit system). If one applied as a source with a statement that he/she would like to be a source in Altcoin boards (Discussions, announcements, etc.); that source (when accepted) should try to keep distributing sMerits in those boards.
- Nevertheless, if in Altcoin boards, in some weeks, is hardly to find good posts, it is fair to distributed sMerits to other boards.

Just my two cents.
2878  Other / Meta / Re: Why are so many reports going unhandled? on: December 22, 2019, 09:43:36 AM
Each staffs have different ways to handle reports so they have different perspectives I think.
The unofficial rules emphasize that step of rules interpretation:
23. When deciding if a user has broken the rules, the staff have the right to follow their interpretation of the rules.[e]
There are some answers for this question, I found:
For example, I've learned that leaving reports unhandled is the best thing to do in certain scenarios where as before I used to assume that was bad, and you needed to handle as many as possible.

Unhandled reports basically just mean there has no action been taken. If a report has been sat there for a few days, and its still unhandled its likely that a moderator couldn't decide whether the report was correct or incorrect. They are then considered as "soft" bad reports, but don't impact your percentage. There can be a variety of reasons why the report hasn't been dealt with, but usually because the staff members are unsure what to do.
2879  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: December 22, 2019, 09:37:00 AM
How do I resize this thing?
You can do it with online image resize website, of course, for unimportant images (not relate to your identities).
If you don't resize your images before posting here, you should use width or height option.
For more details, please take a look at my topic. Guideline on posting images (with size adjustments), hyperlinks
2880  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: December 22, 2019, 05:51:23 AM
I saw it minutes ago and this is my first time I saw the advertisement of FreeBitco.in in the forum ban ads. 34M. registered users is an impressive figure and I hope that the team will get good results from their first (maybe) advertisement round here, then they might decide to keep running the other rounds later.

By the way, I thought the image in above post is overlarge, and should be resize or adjust with width, height options.
