2861  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Received Nano Ledger S, Configuring it with Electrum on: March 09, 2018, 09:46:44 PM
Hey all just noticed a strange issue.  I was watching a youtube video where it mentions some man in the middle attack etc.  They say when you give your btc address for someone to send you, you cant trust the btc address shown in the bitcoin address.  First off, isn't that the address you are sending btc to from?  For example when i send btc to nano ledger s, that is the address i copy and paste right?  Because i did a few transfers and it does show up in my wallet.

However according to the video, you are suppose to click on a monitor that would actually display the btc address on the nano ledger s.  First off, there isn't that option.  There is only 2 icons to choose from... one is to email and the other is to print etc.  On the video, there is a 3rd icon you could click on etc which according to the person in the video, you could view your btc receiving address on your nano ledger s to confirm.  Is there a reason why this doesn't show up in my nano ledger?

The other thing is when i clicked on receive btc. why is my btc receiving address different from the ones i previously sent to?  It still starts off with the number 3 but the rest of the letters/numbers are different.  This doesn't make sense because shouldn't i only have one btc address since i did not generate another btc address in nano ledger s?  I just want to make sure of this as i already transferred some btc to the nano ledger s already.
2862  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Received Nano Ledger S, Configuring it with Electrum on: March 09, 2018, 09:35:57 PM
Hey all so right now i just want to make sure i got everything correct before i send everything from electrum to my nano ledger.

So just to make sure.

Right now my ledger wallet bitcoin shows

My Account   X.X BTC    USD Amount

It shows on the top right corner the USD value and the btc i have.

I also written down my 24 word phrase and my pin number.

I also had reset my nano ledger a few times.  Thus i had to write down 24 words several times already.

So that means my ledger wallet bitcoin wallet is safe right as long as my 24 word key and pin number is not shown to others?  I want to make sure of this before i transfer the rest of my btc from electrum to the nano ledger s.
2863  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Electrum to Nano Ledger S Transfer Question on: March 09, 2018, 09:34:31 PM
Hey all so now the unconfirmation is not there anymore on the ledger wallet bitcoin.  It also shows the transaction has went through on electrum.

So just to make sure.

2864  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Electrum to Nano Ledger S Transfer Question on: March 09, 2018, 09:20:29 PM
Im confused.  You want me to create a new electrum wallet and have btc sent from old electrum wallet to new one?  First off, why would i do this?  I want to have btc in my nano ledger s.

Also another related question.  I sent btc from electrum to nano ledger s with small fee.  But since i used segwit for nano ledger s, my btc receiving address on nano ledger s starts with a 3 right?

The other thing is i did a few small transfer from electrum to nano ledger s.  It does show unconfirmed on electrum.... those transactions do show up in nano ledger s but shows unconfirmed.  But eventually it will show as confirmed right?  Thus the transfer is correct but i just have until it gets confirmed?  Also there are no issues sending more btc from electrum when it has unconfirmed transactions and if it shows unconfirmed transactions on nano ledger s right?
2865  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Electrum to Nano Ledger S Transfer Question on: March 09, 2018, 09:00:58 PM
I recently got a nano ledger s from the manufacturer.  I set up my nano ledger s already with the ledge wallet bitcoin app on chrome.  I made it bitcoin and segwit.  I then sent a tiny amount of btc from my electrum wallet to my nano ledger s wallet.  I did it with the smallest fees of within 5 blocks and the funds hit my wallet within 30 minutes or even less.

Does this mean if i send a bigger amount of btc now to my nano ledger s and then i use the same fees and it shows the same btc fee... will the transaction take much longer if the btc transfer is a lot bigger?  Say you first tested out 0.00001 btc but now you do 0.5 btc etc.  But it displays the same btc fee.  Will it take much longer time?

The other thing is this.  I want to know if i configured my nano ledger s correctly 100 percent.  I actually reset it few times already with a new 24 word phrase each time to reset it.  This time i did it and have the pin and the 24 word phrase.  Now when i click on ledger wallet bitcoin... before i sent any btc from electrum to nano ledger s... it shows my account and 0 btc balance.  There is an option on the top right to ADD AN ACCOUNT.  However when i clicked it earlier, it gives message you cannot do this because you don't have any btc in your current account etc.  Well now that i sent tiny amount of btc from electrum to nano s... well i could actually click ADD AN ACCOUNT and it gives option to add name and color.  First off, is this necessary or not?  Thus i was watching a nano ledger s video that showed someone doing this.  But this does not apply to me right?  Thus the only thing im concerned about is looking at the

My account btc amount and the USD balance right?

Thus at the moment, my nano ledger s is secure and fine?  I want to make sure of this before i send the rest of my btc from electrum to nano ledger s.  I do have my pin and 24 word phrase.

2867  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is viabtc transaction accelerator really working? on: March 09, 2018, 08:48:40 PM
I recently tried sending btc with small fee of like under 25 cents with electrum because i read transactions are fast now and because it showed within 5 blocks.  How long does it take for 5 blocks for btc to be sent from electrum to another site if it say within 5 blocks?

Also does viabtc accelerator work now for it and if so, can i do this anytime since i assume most ppl do not use it?

Also is it the first link that shows up when you type in on google such as it looks like

pool.viabtc.com/tools/....

Thanks all.

2868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Nano Ledger S 24 Word Phrase, Same Word Used Twice? on: March 09, 2018, 08:12:25 PM
I got my nano ledger s from the manufacturer.  I actually had to reset it few times because i wasn't sure if i choose legacy or segwit etc and was told to use segwit.  Each time i wrote a new pin and the 24 word phrase.  Well this time i reset it again and put in new pin.

Then i noticed something very strange.  Well i did it this time, i noticed that in the 24 word phrase, the same word is used twice.  I had to make sure of this when writing it down because i thought didnt i just write the word down and it did.  So imagine the word is outdoor and it shows that in word number 5 and word number 23.  Is this normal?  i made sure and went back and its the same word but different word numbers.

Can someone confirm this is normal?  I thought well there is a huge word list.  But the other thing is well if the same word is used twice in a 24 word phrase, well that is strange.  Because with 24 word and a huge collection of words, shouldn't there be like an infiinite number of words where the same word doesn't show up twice?
2869  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Legacy or Segwit on Ledger Nano S on: March 09, 2018, 08:08:09 PM
hi there thanks.

Okay i noticed something very strange.  I had reset my nano ledger a few times already and written the 24 word each time.
2870  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Legacy or Segwit on Ledger Nano S on: March 09, 2018, 07:36:48 PM
Well i have my btc in electrum at the moment.  First off, is electrum legacy?  I assume its not segwit right?

I want to move my btc from electrum into nano ledger s.  So to make it safe, just make the nano ledger s legacy?

The other thing is once i do this, i want to get bitcoin cash with electron cash on my computer.  Then either keep bitcoin cash in electroncash wallet or move it to nano ledger s.

I would definitely want to do transactions with sending btc to and from nano ledger s.  Thus use it like i did with electrum where send/receive is easy.

I also wouldn't mind lesser fees.  But you could still control the fees yourself right?  I read it doesn't even matter since if you choose segwit as oppose
to legacy, it automatically does the fee and speed but even if you choose segwit, you could just put less fees?

So in my situation where i basically want to move my btc from electrum to nano ledger s for now and not do any transactions from nano ledger s to any other site for a bit, just choose legacy?  Someone below you say choose segwit but i dont want any issues where if i send btc from electrum to nano s... there would be issues not likes not compatible?  I want to make it as simple as you can get.
2871  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Legacy or Segwit on Ledger Nano S on: March 09, 2018, 07:04:29 PM
So is the choice legacy or segwit?  So if i choose segwit... could i change it back to legacy?

Or is the only way to do this basically reset my nano ledger s and choose legacy instead and thus generate a new pin and 24 word?
2872  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Received Nano Ledger S, Configuring it with Electrum on: March 09, 2018, 06:13:08 PM
Also what percentage of people after buying the nano ledger s use it with electrum vs just the ledger wallet in chrome?  Could you use both or it has to be with one only?  I would assume most people who use electrum previously just use the nano ledger s with the chrome app?  Is it more simpler?

Because im thinking maybe i shouldnt use the nano ledger s with electrum as it could get very complicated?  I read threads where ppl said they had issues because in nano ledger s they choose segwit as oppose to legacy but their electrum is 2fa and its not compatible with segwit so there is some issues there?  I do not want any issue like that at all.

But if you use the nano ledger s with the chrome store app, well you could view the balance anytime when you click on the app and the bitcoin app right?  But someone mentioned the negative thing about the nano ledger s is you cant view your btc balance or something by itself.  Can someone explain what they mean by that?  Because when you want to send btc from the nano ledger s to another site for example, well you need to have it plugged into your computer right?  Im positive of this but just want to make sure.  Because if using it with electrum means you could view the balance... could you even view the btc transactions in electrum for nano ledger s transactions?  Or you cannot?  Because there really isn't anything negative about just using it as is right with the chrome app?  Because if you need to view your btc balance in electrum, well you need to first log into electrum program.  If you want to view your balance in nano ledger s, well you need to connect it to your computer, type in pin to view it right?  So im confused why ppl mention the negative is something about you cant view your balance in nano ledger s by itself?  Because you open the chrome app... and your balance is there?  Im very confused at this right since i have the nano ledger s at the moment and trying to configure it.
2873  Bitcoin / Electrum / Received Nano Ledger S, Configuring it with Electrum on: March 09, 2018, 05:58:50 PM
I recently received it from the manufacturer and am trying to set the nano ledger s up.  My first issue arises when it ask me

What bitcoin blockchain do i want to use?

Give me option of bitcoin or bitcoin cash and also option to remember my choice.

I had bitcoin my electrum when the fork happened.

So i assume click bitcoin and click remember my choice?  Because when i do not, it seems to ask me this everytime i open the ledger wallet app on chrome?

It then ask if i want to choose legacy or segwit or i dont know.  Which one do i choose?  I went to youtube and someone mention use segwit because its lesser fees to send btc and also faster... so is that what i want?  I had just clicked bitcoin and then segwit.  Everytime i do this, it shows my bitcoin wallet.  However when i unplug my nano ledger and plug it back again, it ask me every single time bitcoin or bitcoin cash and then legacy/segwit.  So if once i pick bitcoin and remember my choice and then legacy or segwit, it wont ask me this every single time right?

So after this, i send tiny amount of electrum to my btc address in the ledger wallet bitcoin right?  I had downloaded the bitcoin wallet in the chrome store.

Then once i do this, should i then intentionally get my pin wrong 3x then it resets itself?  Then i have to input the 24 word phrase in ledger nano to recover my bitcoin?  I would be sending very tiny amount like 0.0001 etc to test this out.  Then once i recover it, i should send the 0.0001 btc back to electrum?  Then reset nano ledger s and get a brand new 24 word phrase in case in the small percentage it was compromised, well the 2nd time you get the 24 word phrase, well that would be legit?  I ask this because of that ebay scam of the seller who sold a nano ledger with already 24 word seed etc.  This one is from the manufacturer and sealed with plastic like an iphone so im pretty certain its fine but do that just in case right?

Then once i configure the nano ledger s again... set a new pin and 24 word phrase.  But where is the option to put a 25th word?  It didnt seem to allow this when i first set it up.

Then after i do this, i would then send tiny amount of btc to the nano ledger s.  Then send a bigger amount.  Then another bigger amount right?  The other thing is would the default fees from electrum be fine now since i hear it doesn't take that long to send/receive btc without a huge fee anymore?

Now how do i use electrum with the nano s ledger?  A few people told me i could do this and they said the electrum would be like a watching wallet where no btc would be in your electrum so if you have any virus on electrum/computer even though you are using it with the nano ledger s, you are fine.  They said because how it looks is very good and i do agree i like the electrum design very much as its very clear etc.  But would i need to remove the chrome app ledger if i were to do this?

So right now im stuck at the moment with the bitcoin/bitcoin cash and the remember now and the legacy/segwit and i dont know and i dont want to pick one permanently.

Can someone tell me where do i go with this?  im trying to send my btc from electrum to the nano ledger s.

Thanks.
2874  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Received Nano Ledger S from France, Questions on: March 09, 2018, 04:37:51 PM
I just got the nano ledger s at the moment.  Ordered it from the actual website so it was sent from france to here.  Had it expedited as well shipping.  I noticed that it is actually wrapped in packaging as in you need to rip it open or take a scissor etc.  Do you know if this is new?  I heard from others there is nothing over it and its suppose to come with just the box?  But those are only ppl who got it off amazon right?  So the ones that come from france does have it in closed packaging like imagine you bought a new iphone and you have to rip off that plastic packaging?

2875  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why almost everybody suggest to hold? on: March 07, 2018, 02:38:04 AM
Like the OP mentioned, if you notice a big dip and then sell the btc for usd/usdt... then keep waiting for it to dip more... then buy it back... then it goes back to the price it was before the dip... then you would have made money.  But the person thats been holding it would not have made anything.  So surely people here agree what the OP suggests is good?  The only issue is you need patience and you cannot sell it below the price you bought the dip etc.

Aren't there more ppl that made money this way as oppose to holding?  As long as you follow the rule of do not sell at lower than bought price, then aren't you almost always good here?
2876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES | Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform | SMART CONTRACTS COMING! on: March 04, 2018, 10:42:14 PM
Im curious but do people use waves wallet as their btc and eth wallet?  Becauses waves wallet is very nice to use.  Is there a reason ppl don't talk about storing btc, eth or bitcoin cash in waves wallet?  Because when you send btc for eth from waves, the fee is 0.001 WAVES RIGHT?  Or is it 0.001 btc or eth?  Because isn't it very cheap to send btc from waves to another wallet?

The other thing is are there any fees when receiving btc, eth or bitcoin cash into waves wallet?
2877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in these altcoins? on: March 04, 2018, 08:27:44 PM
Anyone else have opinion on these coins?

I mention funfair and edgeless because there was a poster that mentioned these coins will go up.

The ones im very curious about still is shift and beancash.  Does anyone think shift could hit 100 dollars?  Anyone think beancash can hit 1 dollar?  Also is it basically impossible for powerledger to hit 10 dollars or more because its government backed in Australia and thus there would be no huge increases like 10x, 20x etc?
2878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 6 Reasons Why Shift Will Become A Top 10 Coin In 2018 on: March 04, 2018, 08:02:50 PM
Any thoughts on this coin?  The price is still sort of cheap.  But from what i read, this coin is to decentralize the web.  So if thats the case, does it have the potential to hit $100?
2879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITBEANS is finally rebranding !!!! on: March 04, 2018, 07:41:41 PM
I got some beancash a while back.  Do you think the price of it could hit $1 ever?  I bought some a while back and wondering if i should just sell it off now since im not sure about this coin.  This coin seems to be nothing more than a gamble at the moment i got it at a lower price i bought it at.
2880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sprouting Bitbean is 10X more profitable than mining on: March 04, 2018, 07:39:59 PM
Not a mining question.  But in general do you think this coin could possibly hit $1 in the future?  Also is this a POS coin?  The only reason i thought this coin is good because it has a nice logo.
