It was already expected so fans are already prepared for it. And besides, the average retirement of PBA players starts from the age of 35 above. A great step for Pinoy Sakuragi to give way to young cores now. I can't imagine PBA for now without these big names.

I'm expecting another retirement of some players this year honestly.

As of this year, there are now 6 players who finally hang their jersey for good;

- Cyrus Baguio
- Ronald Tubid
- Harvey Carey
- JC Intal
- Jay-R Reyes
- Marc Pingris

Mark Caguioa and Taulava will complete that list this year mate and that's the names you expected that will retire this year lol.

I'm just happy that there a moment that we have a Pinoy Sakuragi in the PBA and he once a household name in Philippine basketball, Marc Pingris.

For me, the biggest and unforgettable memory watching Pingris was the time when helped Gilas finally defeated Korea in the FIBA Asia qualifier. Pingris played all heart despite having some pain in the injury he sustain that game.

All good thing comes to an end, so i'll just say thank you Marc Pingris for all the good times you brought to the PBA and to the Philippine basketball as well.

Thank you also for hitting JMF25 in the groin area thus awaken the giant in him lol.
2862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Haney vs Linares - May 29 on: May 25, 2021, 11:18:08 AM
Even though I’m not a  big fan of lightweight boxers I shall follow the  progress of the coming fight   to prove the theory that fast legs combined with the fine boxing technique may decide the outcome. Linares seems to have  both technique and legs to counter Haney ... will see, looks like the winner is bound to face Fortuna.  Grin

Linares is a very live underdog here and I think this is the biggest test for Haney's young career. Linares almost upset Loma in their fight so maybe he could give Haney some hard time too.

Just curious, it is only days before the fight but my favorite bookies did not put some odds on their bookies.

Is there news for the postponement of this fight?

Butler only shoots 4-22 in game 1, I would say the defense put on him is very effective.
Giannis may choke but this time Bucks has a lot of options.

Butler having a not so good performance last night and they managed to keep it close so i think this time around he will improved FG percentage-wise and that's the reason why i'm with the Heat here. Heat +4.5 @1.99, this will be another close game and a 5 point lead to either team will be most likely. I just don't like Giannis' performance during play-offs, he usually choked.
Not close mate, Butler and Bam continue to struggle in game 2 and they allowed Bucks to hit those 3's in the 1st quarter and it become a insormountable lead. Giannis performed really good in this game as well so it's a lost for us. Game 3 might be different though.

Luckily, I got Denver -3.5 before the game starts at boosted 2.09, so it's a win.

And what can we say, @stadus again on the roll with his predictions. Congrats as well to @danherbias07 and for those who have won in today's match.

Damn on me, I should have not gone against the pick of status lol.

The Heat just played a lousy basketball and if they continue playing that way, we might see a sweep here in the first round.

TBH, I'm not really a fan Giannis that's why I was lured on betting for the Heat.

Anyway, congrats to you and I hope could land a win tomorrow.

~snip~

That's coming from the big boss, Romeo should be so proud of this and it could mean that he could retire with the SMB if he will continue what he has been doing. He is underrated as a player, but this guy is really good even in international competition.

That's a very inspiring act from Boss RSA and for sure Terrence Romeo will repay that kindness with hardwork on and off the court.

It's not only Terrence Romeo that Boss RSA that want to retire in the SMC company, he also assured Calvin Abueva that if he continue what he is doing this time, the Beast has found a home in Magnolia and Boss RSA assured him that.

Ramon S. Ang is a revelation to me as i'm not expecting that he is this so kind and generous to his players. Usually rich businessmen are only there for the business and sometimes they tend to forgot the welfare of their employees.

@LFC_Bitcoin - might be better if you add a poll on this thread? So that we can see how many are going to vote for either fighter?

I reckon that Manny will win in the vote because of the Filipino community support on their fighting Senator. But it doesn't mean that it will automatically translate to a victory. I myself are going to vote for Manny and then put a bet on him to win by UD if the odds will be available in favorite crypto bookies.

True but i will not be voting Manny to win in the poll. I'm a big Manny Pacquiao fan but i will put my money opposite him this time around. Many said that Manny still has it to defeat boxers of Errol Spence caliber by i don't think the same. May be Manny can compete until the last round but i just saw Spence winning here as he has the youth factor that is a very important factor in a boxing match.

I think this decision of him fighting Spence is related to politics. This fight will be the talk of the whole Philippines thus rekindle his popularity amongst the Filipino people and at the same time earning some substantial amount of money as many boxing fans will buy PPV to see him fight for the last time.

Hitting two birds with one stone  Grin, what do you think?

You mean Pacquiao needs this fight to be relevant again in Philippine politics? I thought he is still well love there, has there been some change though because of his political stance?

But yes, money is needed by Manny so I guess why he pursue this fight against Mikey Garcia.
Manny for sure will earn a lot of money and help him pursue his political ambitions for higher office.

He is still relevant in Philippine politics, don't get me wrong. If he decide to run again for senator, for sure he will win. For vice-president, he might win but for the Presidency of the Philippines, he will not win if the election will be held tomorrow or next month as he is not popular for that position.

Nothing to lose (considering no damage to his health) for him if he loses this fight and if he wins then the boxing world will be all praises for the Mighty Manny lol.

2868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Josh Taylor vs Jose Ramirez - May 22 on: May 23, 2021, 08:42:30 AM
Josh Taylor got the win but the fight was closer than it needed to be. In the last three rounds he was just trying to run out the clock and that's why the judges gave each fighter 6 rounds. The difference ended up being the knockdowns which took a lot out of Ramirez.

I think his next fight should be Terence Crawford and then win or lose he should go back to 140 to defend his belts against Teofimo Lopez. I don't think Taylor beats Crawford. He takes too much damage and didn't know how to put Ramirez away. Against Lopez it would be very close. Lopez is desperate to become a big star and make that PPV money. They are both trash talkers and I would expect their fight to be explosive.

Ramirez got too over confident and thought he could take the punch of Taylor, that's the biggest mistake that cost him the fight.

Ramirez was the hard hitter between the two, it was just Taylor who had the timing or have the lucky punch that knock Ramirez down.

Good fight though and hope that Taylor will meet Crawford in the 147 lbs division to prove his doubters wrong.
2869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 23, 2021, 01:31:26 AM
And for the last possession what do they do, try a 3 again.

16/29 from 2 and 1/13 from 3, smart choice.

Blake Griffin with zero impact, didnt even take 1 shot. Joe Harris was supposed to be the wide open shooting option with everybody focussing on the big 3, he took 4 shots, hitting 3/4 .

How is this a good game plan?

Not a good game plan in our point of view as the 3's were not falling but it is what it is. They are star players and you can't benched one of those.

I'm betting on the Nets here so let's just wait and see in the second half what would be their adjustments. Hoping also that their 3-point percentage would improve.
2870  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: May 22, 2021, 11:39:14 PM
Picks ko sa play-offs:

Miami Heat +4.5
Clippers -5.5
Celtics +7.5

Kiefer feels a big man can turn NLEX from good to great. Beau perhaps?

What do you guys think?

I think if it's Beau Belga, it will not give big impact to the team, I like a big man that is dominant and I think if they can get  Greg, it could help them.
I know JMF is better than Greg, but at least Greg could give JMF a hard time when they play against each other.

Agree with you, if NLEX could get Slaughter then it could boost their team as they are lacking a legit big man now with the departure of Poy Erram. Beau is more of a defensive stopper and he is not young anymore so i think he would be just a mentor to the young guns of the team that will pick him.

Bucks vs Heat is too early in my timezone, I need to be awake too early in the morning in order to watch this game.

Based on their Head to head record, Bucks won 2 out of the 3 meetings.
https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/matchup/244582

However, this is playoffs and things could be different, will we see a repeat in the last playoffs?

Already have pulled the trigger on this first game of the series and i'm tailing the majority here.

Nothing significant have changed on the roster of the Bucks while the Heat have added Oladipo on their line-up so i think we can see a repeat in this series, same of last year's result.
2873  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr on Aug 21 in Vegas on: May 22, 2021, 12:03:09 AM
There's an existing thread here about the match between Pacquiao and Mickey Garcia that thread should be locked so we can concentrate on this one,

I already did when the news about this Spence fight broke out  Smiley.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5333533.msg56881003#msg56881003

honestly, I like the Garcia fight that the Spence fight, Spence is so dominating on small fighters like Pacquiao but we'll know, Manny must now prepare as he has never prepared before he is facing the dangerous and probably the best fighter in the welterweight division, we'll read more news about this fight and hopefully, the fight will push through.

Like i said on my previous post that for me the best and healthiest fight for Manny at this time of his career is a fight with Mikey Garcia. It's almost a done deal but i don't know what Team Pacman is thinking right now. Maybe they saw something that they can take advantage of in the last fight of Errol Spence against Danny Garcia but there is also a great risk that they might have been deceived on what they saw lol.
2874  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 21, 2021, 11:09:10 PM
^^ I'm also seeing GSW winning and covering the spread. So far though in this play-in, teams with the homecourt advantage won, so numbers are in favour of Golden State here.

And I don't think that Curry wanted to get eliminated here, he says he missed this kind of high stakes games so for sure he will do everything he can, to even score 40 or even 50 to get them into the playoffs again.

So I'm betting -4.5 for GSW and get the win against Memphis.

I'm thinking the same as you mate. Experience would be a factor in this game that this is a great advantage to Steph Curry.

Ja Morant is a good player but i think he is in a bad scenario as Steph will be performing great in this do or die game.

2875  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr on Aug 21 in Vegas on: May 21, 2021, 10:40:07 PM
I'm seeing Pacquiao as the favorite, but counting out Spence Jr's skill might be a mistake too.

I'm seeing the opposite here because of the obvious reason, Manny is 42 years old while Spence is just 31. Spence may not be the overwhelming favorite but i have him slightly favored to win the fight.

Personally i want Manny vs Mikey to serve as the final fight of Pacman's career but sadly it didn't happen and Manny is just so hard headed that he wants the hard way and want to exit boxing with a bang.

Goods news for all the SMB and Junemar Fajardo fans here because as per article, he is back on practice this early. I thought that his injury is not yet fully healed that they estimated his comeback during the opening of the games next month.

Nevertheless, it so nice to see him back on the court and take back the all Filipino crown from Ginebra.
2877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: May 21, 2021, 01:12:53 PM
But Lakers have the experience here, that's there main advantage here. Scratch the regular seasons game, this is play-off so everyone needs to step up and hope we will see a good first round match-up.

I agree with you, Lakers might win this series but Suns here will definitely give the Lakers a tough series. What I saw in the Warriors game convince me to bet against the Lakers in game 1 of the Suns vs Lakers series, I like the Suns here before the Lakers will figure out how to beat them.

The Suns will definitely give the Lakers a harder time to win than the Warriors as they are more complete. The backcourt duo of Paul and Booker alone will give Lebron headaches  Smiley. But i think the Lakers are ready for them and they will use their size against the Suns so i'm betting them on ML. Have observed that almost all of the favorites won in this play-in so i think betting against it is a bad idea.

I heard that this is the first game in NBA history betting where a team coming from 6h position in favorite to beat them team from 2nd position but let's be honest and admit that Lakers were down so much lately just because Ad and Lebron did not play so starting as favorites for bookies it's the right decision. However, don't think that Lakers will have an easy game because they will certainly not ...imagine being Suns and dominate pretty much all the season and then losing to Lakers without a proper fight ?  I think Suns will push Lakers so hard that they will empty their gas tank.

Ohh, that is interesting to note.

I completely agree that the Suns will give the Lakers a hard time plus the fact that Lebron James and AD were coming from an injury so they are not yet 100 percent healthy. The problem for us bettors is to know when to bet for the Suns as they will not be swept or what strategy to use so after their series we can say that we are still profitable.

I'm not sure what are the odds for the Lakers to win in the series, but for game 1, the Suns are -3 against the Lakers, so maybe that tells that they are the underdog in the series. I like these odds compared to last time where the Lakers are a heavy underdog, we might see a good playoff this year in terms of attractiveness of odds.

Looking at my favorite bookies, it says that if you pick Lakers to win the series against the Suns you would win 1.65 which i think is attractive enough because against the Suns, they have the size which can work on their advantage and of course the experience of Lebron in this kind of scenario.

Does Jericho Cruz have a fan here guys? He's got a go signal from Yeng Guiao that he's okay to fly to Guam and play for the national team for the Fiba Asia Qualifiers. Although we know that the national team of Guam isn't that strong but at least they're sourcing a player from our country to play for their national team which is really a thing to be proud of.

I'm a big fan of this guy, so you are saying that he is an import of the team? I think he is a full-blooded Filipino so he would not be there to represent the county, maybe they plan to make him a naturalized player?

Jericho Cruz is a full-bloodied Filipino but he has three nationality which is Filipino, Guamanian and Northern Mariana Islander. This only means that he can play on these three countries wherever his services is needed. He did not play in the Philippines as we have a lot of guards in our country while in Guam, his talent is much needed there as they lack players as basketball is not popular in Guam.

He is not an import or a naturalized player but played as a local.
