2861  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.12 release on: February 11, 2016, 08:42:58 AM
Does it make any sense at all to think about paying folks running full nodes (with or without all old blocks) even if they aren't mining?

The question is how you distinguish a real node from a fake one.
2862  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0 blocks received in the last 4 hours on: February 11, 2016, 08:06:31 AM
There is not a single block accepted before the restart. I guess the log was trimmed though (by default core trims to 10MB on start) I couldnt find anything unusual.

Code:

2864  Other / Meta / Re: Making $6000 by owning 100 bitcointalk accounts on: February 11, 2016, 05:42:45 AM
That's if you can make 100 posts on every single one of those 100 accounts Smiley

Good luck with that, mate. You've also forgotten that there's an activity cap of +14 a fortnight.

Okay so 240 days of posting 100 posts on 100 acconts would still equate to $1500 a week in 8.5 months roughly

No, 10000 posts a day are still 7 posts per minute if you dont sleep. You will not have enough material to keep them constructive and get banned.
2865  Economy / Reputation / Re: What in heck's name happened to escrow.ms? on: February 10, 2016, 08:31:25 PM
^Escrow.ms had made deals in person. I remember him meeting up with users on the forum who were staying in his locality and having cash trades. Dealing with unknown people this way can be risky as they can be either frauds or con men. In this case the user was a fraud which made him land in trouble. I know he dint scam anyone but the cash which he received was by a fraudulent person.

You seriously need to read more carefully, before you come to someones defense that already confessed.

Bhardwaj has confessed to having sent Sheikh bitcoins equivalent to more than Rs 30 lakh in the past four-five months. The police also recovered cash totalling Rs 8 lakh from Bhardwaj's house.

2867  Other / Meta / Re: My account banned without any right reason ! on: February 10, 2016, 08:12:01 PM
It says ban evasion on the reason.

what is ban evasion ?
You got banned before, and you tried using another account in the meanwhile, not to discuss your ban

can any admin or moderator tell me which account that is ? i've sell many accounts here

Well, I cant and Im not an admin so I cant figure it out either. Let me just give you a heads up what this means. You can not post with any other account you currently own, nor write PMs. The only exception for this is - as mexxer-2 mention above - to discuss your ban here in this very thread.

Good luck.
2868  Other / Off-topic / Re: Wifi on: February 10, 2016, 08:06:56 PM
Bit ignorant when it comes to wifi. I can change the channel and passwords and move the antenna on the router. Grin

If some one has a wifi password can they do anything besides surf on their own laptop or device?

Dumb question but its egging at me...

Depends on your internal network security. Someone that knows your WiFi password is part of your local network unless you have measures to defend against that. If you e.g. share files in your network without protection, someone with network access can read (or write depending on your settings) these files.
2869  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to sign a message?! on: February 10, 2016, 06:55:59 PM
I have not confused it. As you can see I am already at a signature now. But some signatures I have seen here they need a signed message for persons to be accepted. Thats why I learned how to sign a message and also to join signatures, nothing confusing. I fully understood like I said before.

Nice, so you will sign me a message with the address from your profile then?
2870  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blocktrail.com | Wallet | Explorer | API on: February 10, 2016, 04:49:15 PM
-snip-
hey, thanks for getting in touch! this could have been a pretty serious bug, but luckily it's not ;-)

the signature is 'base64' encoded which officially should have a trailing '=' if the last 'group' of bytes is only 2 bytes and act as a 'padding' to explicitly declare that you intended the last 'group' to miss 1 byte (base64 is chunked in 3 bytes per 'group') and a trailing '==' when the last 'group' is only 1 byte.
the javascript implementation of base64 actually silently asumes that if you don't have a trailing '=' but the last 'group' is only 2 bytes that it's supposed to be 2 bytes and doesn't error over it.

so when decoded (in javascript) from base64 into binary (or hex) "HyEuQEIIi5KS0dqyCaIWh6a5A3wIMFqkSEehuNa7jOUZTSyLa08czuASi5RUcj78hPI5PMNec0w6Xhz flMbFNcM" and "HyEuQEIIi5KS0dqyCaIWh6a5A3wIMFqkSEehuNa7jOUZTSyLa08czuASi5RUcj78hPI5PMNec0w6Xhz flMbFNcM=" both result in the same data.

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds logical in the light of the encoding. Would it be possible to show a message to the user? Something like "Your signature is valid, but misses a trailing '='." or "...'=='." respectivly.
2871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction !!! on: February 10, 2016, 01:42:33 PM
This tx will never confirm you can consider the coins as lost
Stupid newbies...

This transaction has a none standard input. <-- and this?

i am.stupid but i learn Wink

Coins are never lost, the TX might become invalid (if double spend) or forgotten by the network (which would make it really easy to double spend), but the coins are never lost. A nonStandard TX is still valid, it will just not get relayed by most nodes (IIRC all latest versions of core such as 0.11.2, 0.10.3 etc.).

Yea I know I made the stupid mistake but is there a way to effectively stop it rebroadcasting? I want to send again with high fees…

Since you are using bc., no one is activly rebroadcasting.

As FruitsBasket suggested you can attempt a double spend or a CPFP (follow up TX pays a unusually high fee), but neither is a quick and sure way to replace the transaction.

If you want to double spend the TX you need to export the private keys for your addresses and import them into a different wallet. Preferably something that does not require you to sync for a long time, like electrum. Create a new TX with electrum, sign and save(!) it. Once you saved it, open the .txn file and post its content here so we can help you push it to the network. You can also do so yourself via the interfaces linked here[1] or directly via electrum.

@OP your website is shit.Your calculations are shit.Your money making methods are shit. You are a complete big ball of deepshit. This is the worst possible way you have come up with to utilize this forum.

how are my calculations shit?

They are based on faulty assumptions, because

#1 you did not enough research to understand how this forum works (cant spam your rank up), which is hilarious because "how does activity work" is asked at least twice a week. Its probably the most asked question here.
#2 you failed to understand that this will get you or anyone else trying this banned. With the time you estimated per post it will be mere spam, very likely getting the account in question banned within the day.
#3 you failed to understand that campaign managers will not let just anyone join their campaign. There are enough willing to join that they can pick who to accept and they filter by quality posts now, because they - as well as everyone else - are sick of spam because of signatures.

Also, do you have permission by the artist to use their work?

2875  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum and address management on: February 10, 2016, 09:53:07 AM
-snip-
This is called coin control and electrum has had this option for a long time now. On the addresses tab select the addresses you want to spend from. On PCs you can select multiple addresses by holding down the ctrl key when clicking on an address. Then right click and choose "Send from". There is no need to freeze addresses.

Brilliant, thanks. From what you write it sounds like its limited to address though and would not work with individual inputs, correct?

-snip-
I have read about BTC since your post "there are no "from addresses" even though blockchain explorers show it like that." And I understood that how it wokrs. Can you suggest a program or method to easily create transaction "by hand". Or link me to some informative place.

Very detailed information can be found here[1] and here[2], if you want to play around with TX created by hand I suggest bitcoin core. You dont have to fully sync it for this. Just use regtest or testnet (significantly small than mainnet). That is recommended anyway, because you dont have to risk any actual bitcoin. If you need testnet coins, just send me a PM with a testnet address and I will send you a few to play with. A QR code would be even better so I dont have to type the address Wink

Electrum uses .txn files to import signed/unsigned transactions its mainly a wrapper around a raw TX though. You probably know the small window electrum open for transactions where you click "sign" and "broadcast" to actually send it. You can also click on "save" to create these .txn and get familiar with the format. Once you know how you create a raw TX with core and how electrum handles .txn file you should be able to do select individual inputs and not just addresses, but as I said above its overly complicated for the little amount of control you gain over the method Abdussamad mentioned.

guys .. anyone could help me in this unconfirmed transaction thingy.. this is my first time to encounter this... until now there`s no confirmation... im newbie in bitcoins.. so please help me.. Smiley

#1 Stop using coin doublers ponzis. Not only are they a scam, they also have no idea how bitcoin works and rely on badly written scripts. If something goes wrong, they just vanish.

#2 As --Encrypted-- said your transaction requires another one to get confirmed first. When I tried to rebroadcast the TX I got the below error.

Error sending transaction: Transaction 87270a020cb8627855a55f074f38dbb8c2131fe6c347c8b61e1ff2b55374ebaf non standard: scriptsig-high-s-signature.

This TX will have a hard time to get propagated through the network even though it pays a high fee.
2877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin or escrow on: February 09, 2016, 11:11:04 PM
Few weeks ago i made a topic called PayPal or Bitcoin. Now i am asking you which one do you think is more convenient in general. Bitcoin OR escrow.  Smiley Smiley Smiley

One (bitcoin) is a currency while the other (escrow) is a service. They go good together though.
2878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sent to wrong address can you get your bitcoins back on: February 09, 2016, 09:45:29 PM
I think or confirm that you cannot get back the sent bitcoins to wrong addres ya one thing can be done is you can send a small bitcoin with the message of your problem with the transaction and ask him to refund you,

You cant send a message with a transaction.

if the owner of the wrongly sended bitcoins receives your query , and if he will to send back he will do it or reply you back. If not then just forget it as a bad dream and move on.

Just checked with coinbase online web wallet , when you click send funds option , their are three columns first - recipient , second - amount, and third - Note,  in this column you can send the message to the address and tell the problem.

In electrum also in the send funds option their is option of description where you can type your problem and send the bitcoin with message. whether it read or not that is other point.

That is not part of the bitcoin protocoll. Coinbase as a service may offer this among their customers, but will only work if both use a coinbase wallet (similar is possible with blockchain.info). Electrum will encrypt a message for you for an address, yes, but you cant send it with the transaction you need other means to transfer the data. On top of that, it will also only work if the recipient is using electrum or they wont be able to decrypt it.
Ok i understand the description part ... the receiver also has to be using Electrum to get the message

No, the receiver needs electrum to decrypt (be able to read) the message. To receive the message you need some other means to transfer it, like a mail address.

unfortunately only chance is if owner of this address would be very kind and return you bitcoins, but chance of this is almost 0, so forget about it and try to earn your  lost money

Ok thanks for your quick replies ... how would i go about writing to the owner ? no harm in trying ... no try no get ...

i see those two link but lol way over my head ...

 thanks

Well where did you get the address from?

well as it was my first time i copied and paste into my email draft ... glad i did or of course i would have no record of it...

No the address you send the coins to. If its not from the merchant it has to come from somewhere. A typo is next to impossible due to the checksum at the end of the address.

In the rare event that typo does provide a valid address, it is unlikely to be an address for which someone has the private key needed.

I suggest you check your PC for malware. There is malware going around right now that changes the address in the clipboard (where data is stored when you copy and paste) to one the villain controls, and I suspect that is what happened here.

yes i did find virus and i have deleted it ... i only have free addition of avg

So does that mean that the address is not traceable and i cannot write to the owner ?
as that was the address it was sent to ... im sorry if a silly question i am of the understanding that all these coins are traceable... through block chain ... or have i misread somewhere and got my facts wrong ?

You can trace the coins as long as you want, but you will not get a name out of the blockchain.

Sorry for your loss.
