2862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online casino always take risks? on: April 08, 2023, 01:39:55 PM

A great deal of influencers are not going to care about where the money comes from as long as they get paid, and this is sad as they allow themselves to be used by casinos with poor reputation which eventually will scam anyone that is willing to follow their advice.

As well we have had a typical example of such influencers here promoting casino already flagged as scam because of not being transparent to clear allegation of scam against them but they are also able to hire accounts to influence their site despite being flagged and yet some are playing under them. Such players are to be blamed for not doing proper research if anything goes wrong with their winning.

And then when they have to suffer the backlash they will pretend that it was not their fault, however no matter how influential they believe themselves to be, things will get to a point in which the people that got scammed will finally realize the truth and they will keep complaining about their past actions and eventually they will have to leave that profession behind.

A casino that is not licensed will hardly redeem complaints of players if abinitio they have the intention of playing a fast one on gamblers, so this buttress the point of playing in reputable casino with honest positive reviews.
2863  Economy / Gambling / Re: Enough to consider a casino scam? on: April 08, 2023, 12:36:11 AM
Hi friends, I have some questions for you guys about online casinos

What will you do if you don't know that a online casino will ask you for KYC after winning over 8,000$ on the platform? And you now manage to process with the verification and they failed to pass you? Can you consider such a casino a scam?

This is your first question or inquiry. This is interesting but what we have to know is that there is a difference between not knowing and not being able to read the ToS (Terms of Service) or read the place it was stated. Therefore , if the casino has stated it somewhere in the site but the bettor was impatient to read and only interested in the aspect of profiting then it is at the peril of the bettor not to be interested to know how to get his winnings out from the casino. This will impliedly mean ignorant of the law is not an excuse as it is said in latin maxim, ignorantia juris non excusat.

On the other, if the casino didn't state KYC verification on its regulation and suddenly it pumped after you had won, such could be a flag for the casino to play a fast one on you. If a casino is reputable and sincerely, they will provide to you all necessary process that will guarantee that you receive your money after winning.

Also, imagine you get attracted to an online casino because of the bonuses they offer and you open an account and make your first deposit then you didn't receive the promised bonus, is this an act of scam or not?

Maybe despite opening the account to ensure you get the bonus after registration, you violated certain conditions you are required to met before the bonus would be sent to you. To be clear, it looks like conditions attached to the bonus may be the issue and not just opening an account.
2864  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do new online casinos struggle? on: April 07, 2023, 10:13:15 AM

Why do new online casinos struggle?

New casinos are not just the only businesses that go through the level of struggle when starting up. Every new business has a teething stage especially if the company does not have parent body somewhere that directs, leads with experience and its reputation of the parent body is looked upon for patronage to the affiliate body/new business. So like every other business, it is not peculiar to only new casinos and there are different reasons for that including, finance to sustain staffs when profit have not started coming, right kind of manpower including PR, real purpose and focus, management, trust, that has alot to do with how long in operation. So pertaining to casino, apart from advertisement done, I believe TRUST is important for bettors because it involves betting your money and to get your winnings (if you have any) as at when due.

Or a new casino project should go all in on doing advertisements starting from their launch date with everything they've got?

Advertisement without real product or desired games won't sustain a casino. Is like when you have an empty container garnish with beautiful covered outta look while it is empty insid. So even beautiful interface is not enough.

A Few I knew are not doing fine and they had to put an end to their advertising campaigns.

If a product is good then you only require a little amount of sustainable advertising for it to grow. Those casinos that are still subsisting in the forum over the past two/three years have good products, good packages for bettors and admirers, good PR and finance to sustain campaigns on the forum, you can list them. So for a new casino to grow, it needs to have everything good plus finance to sustain it down times and it time it will build trust (which is important) and reputation which amounts to patronage.
2865  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: April 07, 2023, 07:19:17 AM

Those are just rumors, though. He is fighting, and he has to make sure he is 100% ready to go toe to toe in the ring. If he has an undisclosed injury, that's not right because it's like he's robbing the fans, especially the bettors, who think that he is going to give his 100% to defeat Teofimo Lopez.

His injury status is already a public knowledge so his is not concealing it from the fans including the bettors. According to the interview with skyspots.com

So he has come public to say he is not ready to rush into a fight until he is confirmed good.

2870  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New world order or CBDC against cryptocurrencies on: March 30, 2023, 02:26:34 PM

You seem to have some first hand info.

So, if I understand correctly, all the situation was due to reduction of cash in circulation as part of pre-election games. Is the situation returning to normal after the election or is it getting worse?

The popular opinion is that the redesign was because of the election and done in a rush to frustrate some certain politicians from vote buying because they stored old notes already in their homes. It is all games and the situation of cash is not very harsh now unlike before the elections as they have finished playing their games. Though there is still withdrawal limit and access to cash.

And why was the turnout so low? I read it was around 27%. You would expect it to be much higher especially when there's a heated rivalry for the office.

Popular opinion is that votes don't count. The people in power already have preferred candidates to fill all the levels of political positions including the president and that was what happened because they bypass the constitution, electoral laws and the technology for accreditation and transmission of results in real time. They went back to manual collation of votes which was against the electoral law passed last year and manipulated figures to favour the ruling party candidate and that has caused many election cases in court.

And how's it looking with CBDC, is it available for use by an average Nigerians at all?

Not quite sure there is focus on that.

According to some unconfirmed sources, the number of wallets has grown because the government began to use CBDC to pay social support to the poor in the country.

Cash circulation dropped because of cashless policy and not for the use of cbdc. The registration for bank apps increased and other payment portals but not cbdc

______
Please correct if this is a mistake. The next stage of implementation starts with the poor.

Not when there is adequate network to take care of the traffic. The rural communities are still far from the cashless policy and they are badly hit.
2871  Economy / Gambling / Re: How to use crypto to miximize profits through sport betting. on: March 28, 2023, 08:14:42 PM
It is not clear what you mean yet on your post. No doubt that casinos allow betting with cryptocurrency at least more than 80% of the casinos accept crypto betting. So what is your point? How do you mean with crypto betting being a source for maximizing of profit? Are you talking in terms of deposit and withdraw fees to and fro the casinos? Gamblers are already aware of sports betting with cryptocurrency and its advantages over fiat betting.
2872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a casino ever run without the government's awareness? on: March 28, 2023, 05:02:09 PM
Is it possible to run a decentralized gambling platform? I know that all popular gambling platforms have no choice but to be transparent to the law to have a steady business running, but with the introduction of CBDC and yes a registered gambling platform has no choice but to accept CBDC too,

For a moment I think your topic and the post doesn't really flow in the manner it is understandable but then I got your point. To answer your first question, yes they can run without government awareness but as you have rightly answered your own question, casinos are business outfit that are established to make gains and what determines the amount of gain in a business is the strength of patronage so that contribute to direct an employer on the kind of business and strategy to adopt. To run casino without government awareness you may not need KYC which makes it decentralized but how many bettors desires to play in secrecy when the issue of trust is getting higher. So a casino can desire to run in government control, pay tax and have return on investment due to high level patronage.

and I don't trust this centralized currency, I believe CBDC will have the capability to monitor incoming and outgoing funds, so that is what makes me think if it's possible to run a decentralized gambling platform at all.

It is gradually becoming a normal for bettors to play on a regulated casino because of same trust you mentioned.
2873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything is cyclical and repetitive. Bitcoin is no exception on: March 28, 2023, 03:37:42 PM
Why don't we apply that in investing in general and investing in virtual currencies in particular?

To compare bitcoin to the organic and structured nature of life survival in the economic world then we may not be doing a very good service and understanding of bitcoin in the space that it is  trying to occupy. For the doubts I can't say if Satoshi did envisage the institutional challenges that bitcoin is undergoing from different government and their agencies. So investment in virtual currency like bitcoin for now isn't without a little kind of skeptism unlike it contemporary.
2874  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New world order or CBDC against cryptocurrencies on: March 28, 2023, 01:27:24 PM
So it seems Nigeria is following Modi's plan but in a different context. Modi did the same in India to curb the use of black money and Nigeria did it to push the digital money. That's quite unfortunate that Nigerians are living under an authoritarian government.

It is a sad situation that the government is not placing priority on the people. Digital money in Nigeria is still far from Nigeria because of so many reasons not excluding comatose network.

Demonetization usually brings in more liquidity and positive upward trend to cryptocurrency similar to what we have seen in India.

Unfortunately it is not so. The naira seizure or redesigned against the old one was not in any way made to encourage the use of cryptocurrency, even bitcoin trading is still not popular as the government is still placing a ban on it or have not publicly lifted the ban on it. The purpose for the naira seizure according to popular opinion in Nigeria was for only political reason to reduce vote buying in the just concluded election but all of that is a failure because the election is overtly rigged against the popular presidential candidate of labour party. What is worst and to prove that the naira challenge and impoverishing of masses is that same old naira have been released for circulation after the election, so it was not to encourage the use of cbdc or cryptocurrency. It was for selfish gains.

However, Op could have added protest going on in various Nigerian states especially in the capital territory at the inec head quarters and national assembly due to non compliance with the constitution, electoral laws and Inec guidelines in the conduct of the Feb 25 , 2023 presidential election. The naira crunch is sequel to the fraud and rigging of the election.
2875  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: South Africa energy crisis, a peculiar Nigeria issue. on: March 27, 2023, 10:53:19 PM

√ South-Africa is an African country just like Nigeria, currently believed to be the fast growing industrialized country in Africa which I believe it's part of the reasons why many Nigerians are moving to South Africa for greener pastures. Does it mean we Nigerians don't have the capacity and the wherewithal as citizens to boldly make demand in such issues as this or it is due to I-don't-care lifestyle maybe cause some feel they are able to afford a generator set so need not be to paddle in such issues.

√ Or is it an issue of fear of the government by the citizens to their tendency on the use of force to gag citizens against what should be a demanding right. Or is there other underlying issues that am missing here.

I think this part na the concern for your post. Anyway to go to demand better governance no be the problem but na the aftermath of such demand matter. One be say dem no go listen to the people on wetin dem dey talk but dem go last last do wetin dey their mind. Two be say dem go bring soldiers on the people wey dey street make dem begin kill.

To compare naija leadership and South Africa own, my brother you sabi say naija history and constitution still carry military history and dictators join even the current Nigerian president na formal general for army but South Africa don dey enjoy undiluted democratic system. Even when dem dey for apartheid regime to when Mandela come become president better pass Nigeria.

Yes lately I don hear say deir electricity situation don dey fall and one of their legislative member dey express serious concern about the light issue and the guy say dem go fight to rescue South Africa and not to allow am degenerate to Lagos where generator dey make noise everywhere. Imagine the comparison, well I wish dem well.
2876  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: March 27, 2023, 02:48:52 PM
The Security Officer who have love for boxing is highly rated in Namibia for having a lot of energy to hold on to opponent for longtime on the ring. The media speculation on the fight doesn't really favour Nighitumbwa but he is facing the fight coming up on May 13, 2023 in high spirit. I won't be surprised if the fight drag on to the last round and unanimous decision at the end of it all.
2877  Economy / Economics / Re: Where do we go from here on: March 27, 2023, 12:34:47 PM
there was a rumour about some incident where a robot threatened to crush him, I don't know how true is this, but not too long ago even the Microsoft boss Bill Gates is very concerned about the harms that AI could bring on humanity,

I think Elon musk is saying this in the way in economic purposes that AI are taking over the jobs and in capacity of human. He probably may be raising concerns about the jobs life like robots or humanoid robots do in place of human beings. These robots have in real time taken most employees out of job due to the growth in technology.

IMO I feel that business minded men like Elon musk and Bill gates should not bother themselves on what they have really enjoyed the advantage of. They prefer AI and humanoid robots in place of human beings to use them to cut cost in their businesses including production cost and why complain on a creation that you have chosen over human beings and the effects of which include unemployment and drop in GDP whose result is poverty.
2878  Economy / Gambling / Re: No bet is a waste on: March 27, 2023, 11:13:29 AM

For me gambling is mostly a way to relax. When i want to visit the football match i`m paying for the ticket, something, that i buy at the stadium. The gambling is the same for me - the money i lose is like buying a ticket for me.

Gambling is like a habit that one has and with habit you inch to carry it out with out your own control. So paying for ticket on a football match is not always all the time but gambling is done all the time. Gambling is not for only fun but for financial gain that will come of it. You can watch games without attaching money to it but if money is attached then you are gambling it to gain pecuniary benefit on it because when it doesn't go your way then you are forfeiting something which is the money used in gambling and one way depending on the consistency of loses, we do feel it when we lose.
2879  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: POS wahala: EFCC arrests 80 PoS vendors in Ondo, CBN Ban Banks 4rm Operating PoS on: March 26, 2023, 04:02:17 PM
Shey una dey see the country we dey inside, no be everything wey dey blame government.

From top to bottom  Grin my own view to repair this country na from top and that top na from number 1 citizen of Nigeria, that person wey be the commander in chief of the armed forces because Nigerian system works without institution but the bidden of the president.

Shall how una see the development, e good as EFCC dey go after this POS businesses or you dey feel say na another misplaced priority?

Yes oo I dey feel say na very big misplaced priority. Na the inefficiency of government dey make Nigerians dey take advantage of demselves. Okay make we even ask ourselves say where dem carry naira go keep wey start the scarcity? Dem dey do naira redesign so hasty because of political reasons without proper planning against the effects, hence somebody just wake think say the dream wey him see for night go perfect for real life. I no blame pos people, make government go arrest source where dem dey get the cash from, wetin concern pos people? Na Nigerians dem be so make government first arrest bank CEOs and executives if them actually make the money available.

I dey look through those name and I no sew Opay yet I dey see their Pos everywhere abi make person look through so we know where we stand.

That news say dem ban Opay, Kuda, and Palmpay operations in Nigeria be like say na rumour. I don read somewhere wey CBN debunk am as fake news but make we still put ears for ground.

Meanwhile make dem leave pos people to dey operate oo, dey can only bring money out and even thing go level up back. Government dey preach about entrepreneurship and micro businesses but na dem still dey frustrate am.
2880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does your country tax your gambling winnings? on: March 26, 2023, 03:17:35 PM

You are risking your own money and if you win you are penalised.
I'm curious as to how many other users have to pay taxes on their winnings.

The government usually don't concentrate on the winning to tax on it because that may not be easy to ascertain. The government that levy tax on gambling do that at the point of withdrawal which could be through income tax. That is it is charged as an income levied and not on how much won but how much you want to withdraw. In my country it is not a known phenomenon that tax are charged on a winning withdrawal especially if it is very minor and may not need KYC or any other form of identification but if it is huge amount that has to be moved out from the bank, maybe some form of tax on the money may be levied. Apart from the gambler, the owners of casino and gambling companies pay tax to the government and maybe such tax indemnify other forms of taxes from the customers.
