Why keep it for themselves though? When they can make a killing producing one from a low cost then put an exorbitant pricetag on it for people to buy. People will still buy them anyway, as long as the miner pushes for more THS than the last one, the buying public will see it and be blind to the price.
You don't go to a gun fight with a knife. No one really fights bitmaintech with ASIC sales. So no one has been able to release a better cheaper miner. So Avalon builds a close miner and sells it at a higher price so as not to offer real competition. Bitfury builds in house gear and avoids it all together . The best most competitive way to mine btc is with a gpu rig... I think this is what's driving people out of bitcoin mining- there's pretty much no more competition left and no more smaller stick or usb based miners made by any official company anymore; GPU mining is a lot cheaper and has a much higher resale value, and Bitcoin's losing quite a few people to altcoins like Ethereum. I'm not jumping ship yet, but the next few months will definitely be interesting. I see bitmain as the only asic provider in the future. Yeah I have 5 s-9 cost me over 8k I have 21 gpu's Mining ETH and XMR. I Spent less then 8k . I use 1/2 the power and right now I am earning more by the gpus then by the asics. I have a foot in both camps. And can shift either way.

it magically comes & go at the same spot ! jeeez
"X" marks the spot ? i noticed few are seeing the magical "X"
well before bmt posts, my voltage is 12.4V on load ! so it ain't a PSU problem.
nope I am guessing this gear is simply less durable due to chip size of 14-16 nm I think a lot of units are going to fail at a higher rate then any other bitmaintech product. Symptoms seem to be happening with many miners in many places. I suggest to down clock a bit always keep temps at 65-95 as best you can. Hope for the best with the gear. makes no or little difference imo. agree on the chip size though. let's hope it does not spread .... my prediction for next batches . . . price is gonna go UP ! not expecting them to be cheaper . you could be right always a down clock on the august batch and it died in under a day. I will be holding back for now on the s-9 and the r4. I may get an avalon 7 or 2. Meanwhile gpu mining seems to be saving me. I may expand the gpus as the s-9's fail

The best most competitive way to mine btc is with a gpu rig. Huh ? Wtf ? No way . Well mine eth or xmr with a gpu rig and convert to btc. This is what bitmaintech is up against. Frankly I think it is good for all. So when Avalon releases the 7 I want it to be a 0.08 to .11 watt miner. And I want it to be a little more costly then the s-9. This will help gpu mining . The last thing we need is a war with bitmaintech. And any ASIC company . Bitmaintech will simply crush that company and in the process it will hurt the btc price. Same as when. Bitmaintech did battle with spondoolies.

Hi all,
Recently I bought some of the S9 B12 miners. They seems to be pretty unstable and some of the miners require restarting and rebooting.
The other problem I have is that on few miners only 2 out of 3 boards are beeing deteted, one board is not shown in the stats at all. I'm using Bitmain PSU and I tried replacing the PSU as well as rebooting the miner and updating the software. Does anyone has any solution to this problem ?
Also on one S9 there're not boards detected at all and in the Hardware Version it shows: " Socket connect failed: Connection refused"
Thank you for your help
Sorry for your issues. You are not the only person with these problems. Are you in USA or Canada? Big question remains..
470/480? 4GB/8GB?
(only advantage of the 480 is that it sells better in 1-2 years..)
go for a mix ½ 4gb ½ 8gb look for best prices Question how do you plan to keep area cooled off. The climate here in holland is beginning to cool rapidly now, in a month it will be around 10C. The rigs will be set up inside a old shed with good ventilation (and some extra fan's ofcourse) and we will just check it for a little while. Maybe some extra airco. Why a mix or 4/8gb? 4gb are 200 usd vs 8gb 250 usd so while the 4gb may do a little less hash it is 50 usd cheaper 8gb will stick around long with eth since they can do a bigger dag due to 2x the memory.

Hi guys, I've been trying to read up on overclocking my S9s, now before you roll your eyes at my post, I understand the waranty implications and I am certain it will run hotter. My question is, is anybody doing it? If not, what are the risks/disadvantages? Also, why is Bitmain bringing out a 11,85 that runs at 550MHz, a 12.93 running at 600MHz the 14.0 running at 650Mhz. Surely this can't be the same machine running at different frequencies? I'm trying to understand this concept but there really not much to read up on, on google ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) so you have a 11.85 miner rated at 550 and you want to over clock the freq to say 600 hoping to make more cash correct? don't just trust me. but if you want a long explanation I can give you one via pm. Hey WTF is the clone site? is it a kano site or a rip off?

I understand that they price the miner at $1442 for B12, but what about NOT matching the btc price. Currently, price is 4083 RMB, which is $610.82 OR coinbase price is $609.9 OR bitfinex $611.86 NOWHERE it is 1442/2.431=$593 Is it so difficult to link it to the "real time" price? I will help you: http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/ ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Labor day weekend prices will update on tues. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) means this was an attempt to be funny.

Drop freq to 593 then show a ten minute screen shot.
If x does not go away drop freq to 587 then show a screen shot after ten ,minutes .
What country do you live In?
You will spend a lot of money shipping to,bitmaintech in China .
I am using Colorado and bitmainwarranty I have a thread on my warranty issues in hardware.
I won't ship to China since it costs more then 100 usd to ship 1 dead board. Plus you have to list the board as 45 value. So if it gets lost or broken you can only be insured for 45 usd.
Try to contact bitmainwarranty if,you live in the usa

why celeron g1840
see if you can get g1840t
18 watts less
and when you use a celeron they do tend to use more of the cpu
I highly doubt this. I have a couple rigs with G1840 CPUS, and load while mining eth is <5%. If I remember correctly, idle power use with no GPUs installed (running off the iGPU) was ~25W. It may vary from mobo to mobo. I don't have any g1840's anymore I do have: pentium g4500 pentium g4400 i3 6100t give me some time I will photo them but as I recall my pentiums are always higher cpu loads then the i3 6100t. I am running 8 pcs 24/7 with various cpu's the t's simply do lower watts on all of the ones I have.
