Is mining the altcoins under bitcoin done at the same time as one mines bitcoin?  Is that a miner side tweak in one's ASIC, or is that done at the pool interface?
BTW, the wallet at http://devcoin.org/devcoin-wallet.html is a broken link right now.

devcoin is dead or on life support.

right now we actively do NMC and btc

from my page note I did not sign up for devcoin

28623  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What to do if you're mining and have only a coinbase address? on: October 12, 2016, 04:26:56 AM
Coinbase is pretty secure but not very private.

You need a pc to download bt core.

You can also get a wallet from block chain.info.

Both coinbase and blockchain.info are not fully controlled by you.

Btcore on your own pc is in your control but you need to understand how to back it up.

I think you should have multiple wallets and that if you choose to have btcore on a pc make sure you know how to back it up.

dual miner is power hungry like mad.  Just do Eth.

I bet you liked the surprise cables.  I like to do that.  Doe not cost much and we all have a little bit of kid left in us or we would not be doing this in the first place.

I got to get two of my rigs out of the house  the GARAGE is 93f!  the den is 83f the bedroom we sleep in is 82f .

that all translates to the wife will get pissed very soon.

I will post new setup for solar array  maybe on thurs.  I hope to have 3 s9's and 1 s7  along with 2 four card the rigs setup by thurs.

that is 24 amps about 5760 watts and one full circuit.  still have more circuits left.

p.s. Nice to see a healthy jump in the coin price for the day. I was a bit surprised when I looked today after work.

Yup...and it just keeps creeping up...wonder wassup.  Undecided

I am holding more coins then usual maybe we get a good push up  in price.
28626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My new XMR+ ETH thread builds info and other stuff thoughts and photos included. on: October 12, 2016, 12:10:54 AM
took me about 25 reboot to have all 6 cards running again. I'm using a double DPS-2000 PSU running at 12.16v. Might be the voltage on the card. A bit high for their clocking. I might have 2 or 3 cards sensible to that.

I will use 2 RM 1000 tonight to play with that.

The issues you are having me questioning things.
Like when I was stock mining I had 6 gpus on one 1000watt psu
It was dual too pulling almost 1300watts. Not sure how the psu didn't explode
But I didn't have any problems. I'm thinking that h81 mobo is the devil and root of all evil

It is very solid with four cards.

But herb and I got them as a great deal on Amazon.  Maybe the seller had issues and dumped them cheap
28627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My new XMR+ ETH thread builds info and other stuff thoughts and photos included. on: October 11, 2016, 11:46:53 PM
Twenty five reboots. Ugh

On my end.  The hurricane made a small leak in the solar array.

Water got into the atx running the four card z170 mobo causing a short in the mobo near the 8 pin CPU cable jack.

So,far all four gpus seem okay.
The higher end m2 ssd survived
The 8 gb ram stick is good.
The CPU cooler is good.

The CPU is yet to be tested.

The psu is toast.
The mobo is toast.

So I spent today redesigning the setup with a proper rain shield for both the s9s and the Ethcoin pc's

As of now I am running 3 s9s and 1 s7. I have the part for btc mining done.

Tomorrow or thurs I will bring another mobo over with four gpus and try again.

The new rain leak  protected setup should allow for five s9s one s7 and two four card eth rigs.

About 9600 watts

I don't want Vpn.  If I recall Li porvided a website and it got hacked.

About. 1000 s-7s were shifted to someone else's pool.

For me I use four pools

Kano.is
Bravo-mining
Mmpool.org
Ckpool solo

If it takes off I will most likely buy two and just set and forget my pools.

The ability to sell/transfer is big for me.

Like I said I would use PayPal with six months no payment no interest and then transfer to a buyer in month five.

The free repair is big.
And a support desk in case I have to switch pools or gear goes down.

Thanks again

as gt_addict says usa is cheaper to ship to. if you live in usa.

but did they work for you for two months then die off?
28630  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9-B10 hash board problems (weird behavior and dead) on: October 11, 2016, 07:53:24 PM
first screen shot is 14 seconds complete waste of time

second screen shot 45 seconds almost a complete waste of time

third screen shot shows me a very weird board that reads 251 c for temp and is about 1 hour in

fourth is like the third

Did this gear work for two months ? august to oct?
28631  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: please recommend a cheaper antminer for me on: October 11, 2016, 10:33:28 AM
get a used s7ln

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1509068.0;all

quiet gear pretty efficient.
28632  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dont have to pay for electricity, whats the best miner? on: October 11, 2016, 01:41:36 AM
Best is to buy antminer s9 but as I see you are looking for powerful miner without noise. I suggest you to use antminer R4, it's made for home mining and it has 8.6 TH/S. Also it's not good alternative but you can also mine bitcoins with GPU mining and it's also not very noisy, depend on how much GPU do you have to store in that place where you are going to mine, also if you want to mine altcoins, than use GPU Mining. If you want mine bitcoin with antminer R4 and altcoins with powerful GPU's, I personally suggest you tu use ATI Raedon's GPU for mining.

You can no longer do GPU mining with bitcoins, you won't make profit.

really did not know that.

just being silly;D

ETH coin  is the most viable with free power and a few gpus.

But since the op did the question in btc the answer is a s-7
28633  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) on: October 10, 2016, 10:19:50 PM
sound fair :-) i can live with that Grin

edit: But when you search at higher diff, aren't the odds better of finding a block?

1TH for 1000 hours or 1000TH for 1 hour has exactly the same chance regardless of diff.

Not true.

Unless the diff stays perfectly flat for 1000 hours or 42 days.

But for shorter time within one adjustment it is true.

Other factors are stales and invalids.  Larger hash may have more errors.
28634  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Interest for Hosted S9 on: October 10, 2016, 09:09:44 PM
yes...  selecting the right price is a hard one, as anything below $60/kw, most of the meat on the bone is stripped but still looking into options!

Units be hosted in Iceland to keep the hardware last longer in clean filtered air environment vs warehouse unfiltered with a few months of hot summer to using space in Canada but GST (like VAT/Tax) to consider for below $57/kw pricing, vs Venezuela and other south american countries where electricity is low in exchange of highly unstable political situation with highly unstable electricity to Country or Georgia where all legal but shipping fee is not so cheap that kills.

WHAT FEATURE everyone wants to see the most?

Well Li's group in China had the ability to let you sell / transfer  say I have 2 s9's  and want to have only 1  I could ask in the posted thread  did anyone   want to buy me out.

I think  that was unlocked after a 90 day hosting.  I sold mine to other buyers via pm told Li and Then Li would do  transfer  been a while since I belonged with Li's group.

It is important to be able to allow buyer/hosted a way out of contract in a way that  you the hoster does not get screwed and me the hostee does not get screwed.

I think the 90 day lock in and then a transfer fee if you sell keeps you sound and the guy that you are hosting sound.

the new guy gets a 270 day contract vs a 360 day contract .

Like for me if I were to order 2, 3, 4 units use paypal pay a 4-5% fee to you for paypal use.  Paypal would allow me 6 months no interest no fees.

So I may hold the gear for 3-5 months and then look to transfer it rather then cancel. I would have a chance to get more coins without dealing with coinbase.

So I guess I am asking for a chance to transfer/sell  the gear to a new person after 90 days. For some kind of fee.

kinda off topic for a second Tongue

those back to back uncles!!!

which is why I mine with them.  I love the uncles.
28636  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: October 10, 2016, 04:04:33 PM
I wonder if these batches are going to be more reliable? Also strange to suddenly have very precise hashing figures compared to previous batches of all miners.

I think they simply rounded up the numbers.
28637  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S9 Sales on: October 10, 2016, 04:03:35 PM
Sales are back at bitmaintech

But Todays PPS/TH Earning Rate is 0,00104241 BTC  0,00097267  BTC and S9 price is still overvalued.

yeah more due to short warranty time and poor quality warranty, but if you have cheap power they would be good at that price with a solid warranty.

gone are the days that 10 cent power was okay to profit. Now six cent plus trouble free gear are needed.
28638  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Interest for Hosted S9 on: October 10, 2016, 03:21:39 PM
So you'd lose 375 in that year?

you would get the miner  so 375 is not lost.

As to what the miner would be worth a year from now I have no idea.

also remember I used 2% growth

and flat btc price.

so if growth is 3% and btc is  flat it is worse.

if growth is 2% and btc jumps to 750 it is good.

the real value to the deal is you have no repairs and you can buy with paypal.

I have paypal credit line of 8000  so I could take 6 months to pay. No payments no interest. this has some attraction for me.

I can hold my coins and get more coins with nothing out of pocket over the next 170 days.

But my numbers may be a lot lower then he charges us.  he may want 1400 for the miner or 1440   I don't know.  As I am not an insider to pricing.

No one really knows what a s9 costs to build and ship from China to USA.
None of us know the exact deal bitmaintech and bitmainwarranty have.

So far bitmainwarranty has never priced lower then bitmaintech.

So the 12th miner at bitmaintech = 1370 + shipping.

28639  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S9 Sales on: October 10, 2016, 01:49:14 PM
Sales are back at bitmaintech
28640  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Interest for Hosted S9 on: October 10, 2016, 01:47:19 PM
I crunched some numbers.

If growth is 2 percent.
If you mine at Kano.is
If a kwatt is 60 bucks.

If coin price stays at 615.

The 12 th miner will earn about 2100 usd

So if you are charged 1370 + 78  month for power you are at 2306 + 94 for psu rental your cost is 2400

Add 75 for machine to get sent to you 2475 - 2100 = 375 and a one year old machine.

So if the offer was 1370 up front + 1030 over 12 months it would be a borderline offer at best.

If I use PayPal credit and you charge 5% it is 1370 + 68 or 1438 up front.

I am not sure what you want for the deal.

But current price for a 12th is 1370.

Let us know what prices are.
Most likely I will do one or two just because.
