Yes, but, the eyes are all wrong. In America, you can be found guilty of something that government has made illegal. But if nobody accuses you of hurting anyone, you can simply claim that you are not part of the governmental system. Do this in the right way, and government will leave you alone. Why is this? Government people are recognized as people in America. They don't have to work for government. Because of this, they have taken on the job of hurting a fellow American simply by being a government official, judge, attorney. When you hurt or attempt to hurt your fellow man/woman in America, it is a punishable crime. The problem is that most Americans don't realize this. If they did, the prisons would be empty, or filled with attorneys and judges instead. It isn't like this in Austria. In Austria government rules, almost like a dictatorship. Mainstream media hates holistic health so much that it's now attacking America's ... Most Americans are proud to see swimmer Michael Phelps set records and add to our country's Olympic medal tally on the international stage. However, not everyone is thrilled with the attention he's been getting, not just for his wins, but also for his enthusiastic endorsements of an ancient Chinese remedy known as cupping therapy. A quick glance at the news stories on the topic over the past few days makes it clear that the mainstream media in America is not above attacking the country's most decorated Olympian for espousing holistic health treatments.
In a piece for The Atlantic entitled "Please, Michael Phelps, Stop Cupping", James Hamblin, MD, attacks Phelps for his affinity with the practice. He does not seem to be too bothered by the idea of one man turning to the therapy on his own, but he is clearly very worried about the prospect of a massive audience gaining interest in the practice and turning to solutions outside of conventional medicine in general.
The lead of his article indicates where it is headed: "The bruises on the swimmer's body come from a 'therapy' intended to improve blood flow. It actually causes blood to clot." Note the mocking use of quotation marks around the word "therapy."
The article is peppered with sarcastic references to Phelps' marijuana use – another alternative treatment – in an attempt to destroy his credibility.
He writes: "So in terms of role-model behavior, cupping may be more deleterious than a grainy bong photo, because it invites people to distrust science."
He points to a lack of studies on cupping to support his stance. When he says there's no science to prove it works, he fails to point out that there is also no science to say it does not work. The studies that do exist have found some evidence that it can help, but most agree that further studies are needed. In any case, people from the ancient Chinese to the world's top athletes in the modern day say it works for them.
Hamblin also says that studies aren't important to those who profit from cupping. It's understandable that he would think that way. After all, studies showing the harms of vaccines don't seem too important to those who profit from them, and the same can be said for studies showing the harms of various prescription medications.
Not everyone is mocking cupping
Taking a decidedly different stance, Douglas Main defends Phelps in Newsweek, saying he may actually be right about cupping in the headline of his article. He points to several studies that show there may be something to it, citing a 2014 review published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences that found the practice could reduce short-term pain more than heat therapy or conventional drugs.
It's that last part, of course – cupping being more effective for pain than conventional drugs – that has Big Pharma and its mouthpieces feeling very threatened every time an athlete emerges covered in cupping marks and starts talking about how great it makes them feel. They probably weren't too pleased when gymnast Alex Naddour said that cupping was his secret to success and that it was the best money he's ever spent. Take this "Peer-to-peer economy" that the plebs are talking about these days. They actually want to trade products and services directly, without going through the transnational corporate slave structure that we've spent so long honing to perfection! The nerve!
And apparently it's working out for them. Did you know that professionals who sell their services directly to clients through the P2P economy are now making a median income of $61,000 a year, higher than the national average of $54,000?
And that's just the income they're willing to admit to making. Who knows how much people make working under the table for cash, or participating in community exchanges! None of that income will ever be taxed, of course. So who, exactly, is going to pay for the Pentagon's next trillion dollar boondoggle or the next war of aggression in the Middle East?
And what of our beautiful taxicab medallion system? You know, those monopolies on the government-granted privilege of making money by giving someone a ride? That system was working out so well for corrupt city officials and their crony business friends. Why, in the 10 years from 2001 to 2011 alone the price rose nearly 6000% to $1 million. In the next two years it more than doubled to $2.5 million. $2.5 million just to buy the right to operate a taxi in New York City! What a beautiful system.
But then these ride-sharing services came along. The gall of them, letting drivers communicate directly with customers to arrange rides via their phones. Faster service. Cheaper rides. No million dollar medallions or golden handshakes or taxi monopolies. Freedom. Terrible, terrible freedom. And the people seem to like it. The majority of taxi users in Australia now use ride sharing apps.
But wait, it gets worse. When the city of Austin ran both Uber and Lyft out of town with proposed regulatory burdens, something strange happened. People didn't sheepishly go back to using the city-approved taxis. They started looking for even greater freedom. Now instead of using bloated, government-colluding corporate ride-sharing apps they began looking for decentralized, peer-to-peer ride-sharing alternatives. Within weeks an alternative had sprung up with 30,000 riders and drivers connecting directly to each other without a corporate middleman. after ww2 germany and Japan were destroyed and america helped rebuild them, and we stuck around and monitered them to make sure they didnt get back to their old ways and they really did end up with a much better way of life. back in the day america was awesome. Im naive, so when i (at 17 years old) first heard we were going into Afghanistan, I thought , good thats good were gonna help those people. in the end tho i realised this wasnt like japan and germany, who ever was in charge did not actually want to help those people, america just wanted their oil or herorine or wtv but it was always about greed.

We don't hate religion, we hate ignorance and we love science. Some atheists probably do, but its from years of abusing our thoughts and opinions when trying to have a decent conversation with religious people.
Loving science is a good thing. However... Big Bang Theory is science. Big Bang Theory will never be known to have factually happened, in a scientific way of knowing, even if it did happen. Consensus among groups of scientist that BB DID happen does not make it fact. Yet we see in books, from NASA scientists, in the media, and from many sources that BB is fact, when we don't know that it is fact, and when there are literally tons of things that might have happened that would show that BB is not true. Another example. Carbon dating is part of science. Carbon dating methods are accurate. But, if there was no C-14 in the atmosphere beyond 5,000 years ago, then all of our carbon dating that suggests the earth to be billions of years old is false regarding the carbon dating method. Nobody is around who has been back to 5,000 years ago to see if there was any C-14 in the atmosphere. So, regarding carbon dating, we just don't know how old anything is beyond 5,000 years ago. Yet, all kinds of things are dated to be multiple thousands of years old beyond 5,000 years old. And this dating is accepted as fact without anybody knowing for a fact that it IS fact. Is this science? Hasn't science moved into the realm of religion? The above are only two examples. Electric vs. nuclear cosmos is another. All science theory that is accepted as fact shows countless more. Because of this, you contradict yourself. Having a conversation with religious people is the same as having a conversation with scientists, if they believe science theory to be science fact. After all, if it were fact, it would be science law, not science theory. |
