Good point I'm sure with a bit of crowdfunding we could start buying senators for the bitcoin cause... Genius! You just nailed the problem with bitcoin on the head. Bitcoin need a lobby.

HATE the BBB
Like your idea.
I think crowd sourcing credibility is best. But what is the mechanism? Votes. A stack exchange system?
Also any rating system is not full proof.
How many people would have given Bitcoinica the thumbs down the day before the first Hack?
Who saw mybitcoin coming?
Was TradeHill solvent before the Dwolla reversals.
Is Mt. Gox insolvent now and are they practicing fractional reserve?
Lots of questions. No way to really prove any factual answers.
TRUST is key.
Maybe a web of trust.
Do we trust Gavin Andreesen. Who does he trust. Mount Gox. Bit Instant. And who do they trust.
Intersango??? Who still trusts PhanotmCircuit and gentix?
Zhoutong? He still has stanch supporters. Although they all may be the same person. An that person is probably into My Little Pony Porn.
I think for the time being the easier goal would be to ferret out the weasels and the scammers. And let those trusted entities who build reputation rise to the top. But then do they become Goldman Sachs, Long Point Capital, MF Global? Are any of them run by Bernie Madoff.
Bitcoin is transformation. We'll figure it out as we go along.

There are some ongoing threads here that OP's are keeping up nicely, and are very useful however with a lot of newer members the Subjects are random and they are often not updated or closed after the trade has completed.
I would like to request the following guidelines with the hope that that is will benefit members looking to exchange.
Subject should have five headings.
[Transaction TYPE] WTB - wanted to buy WTS - want to sell
[Item Transaction] PP{CUR} Paypal + three letter currency ie PPUSD BTC - Bitcoin Diablo GOLD (is there an abbreviation for that?) etc.
[currency you take] BTC - Bitcoin PP{CUR} Paypal + three letter currency ie. PPUSD SEPTA WF - Wells Fargo p2p ING - ING DIRECT p2p Quickpay - Chase QuickPay p2p DWOLLA
[TERMS] (if any) +1% - 1% BO = best offer OBO = or best offer
[Active] OPEN CLOSED
so a subject for [WTB][25 BTC][PPUSD][BO][OPEN] would be
want to buy 25 BTC for Paypay usd at Best offer
And when the deal is closed update subject to
[WTB][25 BTC][PPUSD][BO][CLOSED]
OR [WTB][MTGOX USD CODE][DWOLLARS/WF/ING/QUICKPAY/PPUSD][+3% OBO][OPEN]
wanted to by - MT. Gox US Dollar code for Dwollars/ING peer to Peer, Wells Fargo peer to peer, etc at +35 or best offer.
Also, do not lock thread after deal in closed so users can post charge back or any other issues that may come up after the trade.
Too anal?
MOD'S/ADMIN Can we get a sticky if this is of any use.
Thanks.

http://coincard.ndrix.comI've only recently heard of it as well. Maybe it's still in beta. He did a terrific job with that paypal bitcoin service that paypal shut down. I actually tried http://coincard.ndrix.com yesterday and he only had $5.00 available. Probably still testing.

Thank you for the payment. Please keep us updated with regards to schedule of future payments.
I would appreciate it if you could post here a date of a next payment or a list of dates for future payments and the amounts you expect to pay.
I will agree to withhold of any future small claim filing unless:
1. Any stated payment date is more then 30 days delinquent or 2. 30 days from today (September 12, 2012) if no future payment date is posted here or 3. Any period of more then 60 days passes without a subsequent payment or 4. Any future payment is less then the initial payment of $500.00
I would ask that RandomQ agree to the same but it is obviously his choice of when to file based on your expected voluntary repayment schedule.
Thank you.

FYI, I filed a complaint to get access to personal information relating to the ip's and phone numbers of scammer BTCmover with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre which is a division of the Canadian Mountain Police. The "message taker" wanted to know how I shipped the coins electronically? He had never taken a claim like this before. When I told told him they were like facebook credits or game points he paused and bluntly stated that he didn't think there would be follow up on this case.
Evidently some governments don't even want to bother with bitcoin.....yet.
