For someone who doesn't really like Bitcoins, he sure does post on them a lot. Is he a closet bitcoiner?

Going out of business != Bankruptcy.
You can retire and close your business by going out of business.
Not if your business is loaded with tons of debts!
|
|
|
You all realize Terrahash never said they intend to file bankruptcy.
What else would "go out of business" mean? Some events happened last week, that have forced us to make a decision to go out of business.

I have no idea of how many 1.5T machines they shipped.
None. BFL never shipped a 1.5 TH/s machine.

w00t i was right?? but but- Bitcoins only crash up! to le moon right? right guys? where are you bulls? ?! bulls are busy buying ^ Cheap coins, get 'em while you can.

also is .01 transaction fee a lil much now?Its like $3..Who collects those fees?
It's more like $0.03. You can get by with a 0.0001 btc fee and still have the network relay it to everyone.

My bad then. i don't know loaded, neither did i think his comment was serious, if he really has that many bitcoins, good on him
$ bitcoind verifymessage 14j6jLececs66ZQ8ew6vTFNiEn2NupacWJ IDJMXbBfGRnTZkFrZbGo7cv2ywRes0zFxn9VIKsG2bJlrkJYsUmJp8fGrQbUxJWnYLY8NKwMs0mqEZk U1wsiCuU= "I am 'Loaded' of bitcointalk.org. AMA." true http://blockchain.info/address/14j6jLececs66ZQ8ew6vTFNiEn2NupacWJSure looks like he still has them.

Great photo, let's hope it's not true. If BFL don't suffer the same delays Cointerra and Hashfast have recently and actually start delivering late Nov early Dec
You're an idiot for even thinking that's possible. Even BFL's overly optimistic estimate (that'll be missed like every other estimate they've ever made) is "hope to have our first units shipped out the door by the end of December."

*spewing crap*
Probably that's why your Ignore tag has that color. No kidding. /ignore +1

To be clear, I'm not stating what took place was illegal, and the USPS analogy is a poor one, for there are federal regulations that must be adhere to, with same applying to all other major carriers. If such were never put in place, then the USPS, et al. would have ceased to exist decades ago, based on the privacy issue alone.
OTOH, if the entire shipping department was farmed out to Bob's Express Mail, or the like, then there would be issues if such wasn't fully disclosed beforehand. If one read BFL's ToS, most would be under the impression that their vitals would remain solely with BFL, not shared with ANY other entity, period.
You have to hand it to BFL's lawyers. They're really good at giving the impression of one thing, while actually saying the opposite. Honest Abe!

One thing which may hurt but HF and CT is end of Dec is a flaking time of year.
As is January for Chinese New Year. This is a very bad time of year to try to launch new electronics.

I surely agree..... except the part about only amateurs... I don't consider AllChip & AST, or Orsoc amateurs
No offense, but shipping a couple hundred units a day is amateur. Professional factories can ship thousands upon thousands.
|
|
|
Every time a manufacturer delivers, the cloud's hashrate gets larger, which makes it that much harder to make the same impact on the next delivery... Not too hard to understand.....
So far, it's been just amatuers shipping units. When the real manufacturers start pumping out miners, you're going to cry at the difficulty increases.

What is nearly impossible to predict is WHEN it will level off. It seems to be starting to now, but this could be a hiccup.
It's not going to level off anytime soon. Any leveling off you see is just temporary variation. Tons more hashpower is coming online in the following months. A few days of low increase means nothing in the big scheme of things. 6 months from now I'm going to laugh so hard at anyone sayinig it's leveling off now.

|
|
I said it would plateau a few weeks back and was laughed out of the thread, someone threatened to remind me about it to, 'saved for posterity' I believe.
Yeah, lets take a look at how the difficulty has gone since you said that. 10/16 +41% 10/26 +46% 11/5 +31% Yeah, it sure has "leveled out".

If your plan is long-term holding and not trading, how accurate a trail would separate cold/paper wallets for each year be? I know that tax laws do not (yet) directly account for btc, but it seems the blockchain would be an irrefutable record. If you are trying to manage your capital gains and not necessarily what you spent for the coins it superficially seems like a good way.
To tax guy: "I sold coins from this year and that year, here is the record of when I acquired them".
Disclaimer: I am not a tax professional. I am not a tax amateur. I am a computer guy, I don't know.
Yes, the public blockchain is excellent evidence for when you acquired them.

That was House.
Yeah, so why is House in my window?

What was that?

Ever since the last diff change, block creation has actually been below target. I can't remember the last time I saw that...
I know MBP is shipping some Bitfury hashpower, but it seems no one else is shipping much. Maybe we will actually get a much smaller diff increase on the next readjustment. That would be a nice change for once in a long while.
Yup. So much money is tied up in delayed preorders. Maybe we'll be lucky and Novement will only be +100% difficulty over October.
