2881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to handle recurring payment chargeback? on: March 04, 2019, 07:29:05 PM

Correct. The only way to return a payment, is by making a new transaction. If you, as a payment processor, want to be able to handle chargebacks, you'll have to hold on to the coins until chargebacks are no longer allowed.

Would it not be easier just to say that chargebacks are not possible, but the organisation will honour a valid claim by making a refund. Surely, the customer doesn't need to have the same coins returned, all he needs is to receive the equivalent in coins.
2882  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The legitimate Venezuelan government is black - is that the problem? on: March 04, 2019, 06:21:43 PM
I'm reading reports of the economic split in Venezuela. It seems that the rich are supporting an unelected Washington puppet, and the bulk of the population are behind the elected president Maduro, who has tried to use the national assets of oil and gold to help the poorer people in the country. If Washington does send Americans into Venezuela to die, then it could be the final straw that leads to the dissolution of the Union. I'm starting to see calls for the break up of the US appearing once again.
2883  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Rats, Public Defecation And Open Drug Use on: March 04, 2019, 06:14:45 PM
But Washington does not seem to be doing anything to improve or develop its slave country - America. It seems to be more concerned with spending American taxpayers money to start wars around the world.
2884  Other / Meta / Re: How to remove negged of DTs that left the forum? on: March 04, 2019, 06:10:41 PM
I gave you a positive as well with a reference to this thread.

Perhaps someone could let me know if I need to remove this.
2885  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using crypto behind a proxy and with low bandwidth on: March 04, 2019, 06:05:10 PM
I'm not sure why you are worried about speed if you want to run a core node. I run a node over various public WiFi services, and I don't have any problems over speed, and some are really made with intermittent connection failures. The big problem could be storage of the blockchain, but an external hdd is fairly cheap these days. Your major problem will be getting hold of a copy of the blockchain to get started. To do this, you will need to find someone who will let you download the chain over a fast connection, or copy a recent chain from a trusted source. It really does have to be a trusted source though, as there have been some cases of people supplying dodgy copies in the past.

One thing that has come out of my efforts to support the new forum software is a review of my unused VPS. I'm pretty shocked, but maybe not surprised, by the number of attempts to hack into it. As a result of this, I'm reviewing my whole security structure, and I'm going to start using encrypted ftp, and locking server access to specific machines. It's probably something that I should have enabled years ago.

Securing your Bitcoins has been mentioned several times on various boards, but it is worth reemphasising this. If you don't control the keys to your wallet, and you don't secure access, then the coins aren't yours, and you risk losing them. This is why Facebook coin and the like is of no interest to me.
2887  Other / Meta / Re: Why is META not a SIG SPAM FREE ZONE? surely you want real Enthusiasts opinions? on: March 04, 2019, 11:36:43 AM
I'm not too bothered about the Meta board itself, but I think the whole issue of signature spamming could do with a review in the future.
2888  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Maduro will fall. Opportunity to invest in Venezuela through Bitcoin? on: March 04, 2019, 11:21:37 AM
It's rime to differentiate between the US and Washington. America is the country that has to increase public and private debt to support Washington warmongering, and to provide the soldiers to convert into dead bodies. Washington is the country that reaps the rewards from defence spending and taxation, and is refusing to allocate this for pensions and the maintenance of the American infrastructure.
2889  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The legitimate Venezuelan government is black - is that the problem? on: March 04, 2019, 10:47:37 AM
Well all I have to go on is the multitude of conflicting reports. I do read that the elections in Venezuela were subject to international scrutiny, and all the reports seem to indicate that they were legitimate and well run. That rather avoids the point that it is no business of Wshington to interfere in them anyway, and certainly not to try to foist a George Washington school of regime change graduate on the country.

I'm interested to see your comment about my being racist, and this seems to be the cry of people who are losing arguments. My comment was a simple statement of reported fact - there are more "people of colour" in Maduro's government, than there are in the pseudo-government of the Trojan Horse jockey. btw, I believe that the PC phrase "people of colour" is more racist than referring to people as black, or dark skinned.

The world perception seems to be shifting over to the belief that the 3rd world country of America has a worse, and more corrupt, political system under the rule of Washington than the current situation in Venezuela. I've just watched a thought provoking video -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhYxkFakE98
I can't comment on it, as I need to do a bit more research and reading, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a move to break up the Union to free Americans from slavery under Washington. It ties in with the general populist movement that is growing around the world.
2890  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Privacy and the use of exchanges. on: March 04, 2019, 09:46:19 AM
I'm a bit ambivalent about the CoinBase purchase. I'm not really too bothered about privacy, and it amuses me that people who happily use Windows, Google, Facebook and other similar services, posture about privacy with a centralised crypto bank. My greatest concern is that the flight of accounts will disrupt the market on CB. If the acquisition means that my wallet there is going to be more secure, then that is a good thing in my opinion. I will move some Bitcoin into one of my private wallets though, but this is really because I think of my account at CB as a trading account, and not as a holding account.
2891  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Guaido is out of time for his bid for presidency, on: March 04, 2019, 08:40:58 AM

Note: By America, I mean the government of America at that time.

America has become two countries, and I'm noticing that people are starting to refer to Washington as the new globalist tool loading debt onto America to expand a globalist empire. It is forcing allopathic medicine on the world to enrich the Pharma companies, and to reduce the world population. It is forcing regime change on countries to seize national assets, and to expand its military empire. Venezuela is one example, whilst they ignore the problems in Columbia and the Yemen. Why are they insisting that they "protect" the Philippines from China, when they are told by the Philippines that they are not wanted? Why are they threatening sanctions on Southern Ireland  for banning Israeli goods? It's nothing to do with Washington, and Ireland should be able to decide on its own trade policies - well it can't because it's under the control of the EU, but I'm sure you understand what I mean. I could also mention the gold they have accepted as a bribe by ISIS, and this is gold stolen from Syrian, but Washington needs this to buy poisonous medication to force on America and other 3rd world countries that are dependent on aid.
2892  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you know how should be your topic title? on: March 03, 2019, 01:43:41 PM
I don't open threads with capitalised titles, or spammy threads with stupid smilies littered in the title. Just a simple text narrative in English with a hook to stimulate interest is best.
2893  Other / Meta / Re: Who exactly told theymos to change the threshold to 250 cycled merits? on: March 03, 2019, 09:55:20 AM

Going by the observable evidence, which is a requisite for compliance to the thread's Local Rules, I predict a strong red anti-dildo to form in the near future,

Please could you provide a depth chart for this.
2894  Other / Politics & Society / The legitimate Venezuelan government is black - is that the problem? on: March 03, 2019, 09:50:40 AM
Venezuela has a population that is non-white, and a legitimately elected government to match. However there are a few rich, white Venezuelans, and they may want to hang on to their wealth and control. The pseudo-government of the Trump elected Trojan horse jockey is predominantly white pro-European. Of course oil and gold are big issues in the politics, but is the main problem the fact that a black government wants to use the wealth of its country to help poor black people?

This question is asked by an Englishman who has never been to Venezuela, but is concerned by the current globalist eugenics programme. Venezuela may be just another project alongside the increase in SID as a result of vaccination.
2895  Other / Meta / Re: Who exactly told theymos to change the threshold to 250 cycled merits? on: March 03, 2019, 07:39:19 AM
I think it is time for some technical analysis on this thread. At the moment it seems to be heavily in a bull phase, and we need some bare facts. I don't think this will happen until the daily exponential posting average crosses below the one week EPA. We also seem to be in an ItchyPokeU cloud, and we need to break out of that. The Bollinger band seems to dominate much of the posting, and although Bollinger is my favourite champagne, maybe we should switch to coffee to improve concentration.

We need a good head and shoulders to get to the bottom of the matter, and then we can see a reversal to get through the resistance to improve support.
2896  Other / Meta / Re: Who exactly told theymos to change the threshold to 250 cycled merits? on: March 02, 2019, 06:07:17 PM
Correct, a full kilopost!

I think you made a typo - shouldn't that be a killerpost?
2897  Other / Meta / Re: Epochtalk is ready, theymos wants us to test it. C'mon... on: March 02, 2019, 06:02:54 PM
I'm quite interested in the project. Especially if there are ways to monetise a forum that is using the software. I need a CMS for my off grid living support forum, and I'd like to earn a bit of income from it.
2898  Other / Meta / Re: Who exactly told theymos to change the threshold to 250 cycled merits? on: March 02, 2019, 03:44:17 PM
When I visit this thread, I can never tell if I am on page 1, 2 or 3. I vote that it is time for a hard fork, or for the adoption of NewWit.

This must be one of the dangers in living the Bitcoin life.
2900  Other / Ivory Tower / Privacy and the use of exchanges. on: March 02, 2019, 10:45:05 AM
The recent purchase of a hacking company seems to have kicked off some anti-CoinBase feelings. I've seen a lot of people saying you should withdraw your funds, and stop using them. I'm not sure that I agree with this. Of course, you shouldn't use exchanges for long term Bitcoin holdings, but you should move your savings into a secure wallet over which you have sole and complete control. I can't see this is the issue with trading funds though, and this thread is intended to be a general discussion, and not specific to one exchange. You aren't really going to get any privacy with any exchange in my opinion, and even less so if you are running Windows.

I see the employment of hackers as beneficial, as they can help to secure the exchange, and avoid all the wallet thefts that seem to be happening at the moment. If an exchange starts to hack into customers computer, it will soon become public knowledge, and that would be the time to leave.
