I am really sad to see your thread and unpleasant experience you have faced due to the regressive legislation agaisnt cryptos  cryptos in your country. Unfortunately, my country is also on the verge of announcing such legislation against cryptocurrency. So I am sure a lot of us will probably see such emails coming from our banks! It's good that your bank didn't freeze your money. In my country, banks are planning to freeze the accounts with all funds in it! We are yet to see that in action but that's an imminent future for us!
2882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Failed as Money? on: February 16, 2021, 06:56:58 PM
As a long-time Bitcoin hodler, I welcome the current development of Bitcoin and find the increasing acceptance great. But the question arises as to whether Bitcoin can still be considered as money for everyday transactions or whether the idea is outdated and Bitcoin is more of a store of value option like gold than a means of payment.

Why? I try to pay with Bitcoin wherever possible. Fortunately, more and more merchants and services are accepting Bitcoin. Whether directly or through third-party providers. Here are my experiences over the past few weeks.

I wanted to take out a subscription to my favorite streamer. $4.99 payable with Bitcoin. Timely Confirmation Fees, $ 6.71. 134% of the purchase price. Even with an annual subscription, the fees would still be around 20-23%.

Paying my web hosting costs of around $30, Bitcon fees also around $5, which would be 16-17% fees.

The fees may be acceptable for buying a Tesla for $ 40-50k, but certainly not for daily payments.

Can't agree more! Bitcoin has indeed become an investment rather than a currency. Probably it's for greater good but still it's not a currency anymore. The only way to use bitcoin in your daily life is by using a prepaid card. Where you will fund your account using cryptocurrency and pay transaction fees only once and then continue to use the card for your daily purchases like you do with your other bank cards. That's one way out! However, if you want to do small or micro payment using bitcoin, that's not practical anymore! So the people within the network, it taking it as an investment because historically it has given a lot of profit to its investors. Also the big corporates joining the investment bandwagon, is sending another signal to the investors to invest. As of now, investment is more practical than using it as a currency system!
2883  Local / India / Re: Who increased their crypto portfolio in the name of "Crypto Ban".. on: February 16, 2021, 06:08:11 PM
First of all, I hope you all are safe and fine in these troubled times, wear masks and keep a safe distance while traveling from public transport(Except when you are in a state transport bus or local trains coz we all know that's impossible..  Roll Eyes).

So I wanted to ask who all bought Bitcoin and ETH when it was down because of the "Crypto Ban" hoax.
I don't think anyone sold their crypto because of this coz if you are here on this forum then you will know these types of things are to create fear among the holders.

Personally, I had put orders on 85k and 90k for ETH 1 day before the Budget speech, and both got executed. Lucky me I guess.

Hopefully, Greyscale will increase their ETH holdings every day, and let's see ETH at 5k$ soon..  Grin

Are you sure that crypto ban is a "Hoax"? I don't think so! Read the contents of the tweet,

https://twitter.com/cryptokanoon/status/1356599401507028992?s=19

Indian government is pretty much determined to ban cryptos from the economy of India. I doubt any politician will raise their coice against this bill because it is too complex for them to understand. So I presume that this bill will be passed in parliament without any opposition at all.

However, I think we will have an exit window to sell off our holdings. But who will buy if crypto holding is made criminalized!
2884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin explained by 3 year old baby Lily on: February 16, 2021, 03:39:30 PM
Oh I loved it! Very simple explanation of a complex technology  the girl has done a great job in explaining in simple words! Much appreciated! I really feel like tagging our Supreme Leader to her video so that he can understand bitcoin in his cow-dung filled brain! It's definitely worth a retweet and appreciation! Also I appreciate her parents who are at least teaching their daughter about good things! It's true that the little girl doesn't have the brain to understand the bitcoin but at least she is familiar with the name. That alone means a lot for a little baby girl of her age!
2885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: one Satoshi is equal to a one Satoshi on: February 16, 2021, 12:59:03 PM

Does OP mean 1 satoshi equals 1 dollar? I am not sure though. Anyway, I also disagree that the higher the price of Bitcoin the less its volatility will be. I am not sure when we can experience less volatility with Bitcoin - as for now nobody can really tell what the factors that can lessen its volatility. Volatility is an argument why there are those who believe that it is not good for Bitcoin to be replacing the dollar in international transactions. Let's see what can be and just watch developments surrounding Bitcoin.

No! What he means is 1 satoshi is 1 satoshi and that makes sense! Because till date we compare bitcoin in fiat values as per our local currency. And for general understanding, we use USD value of bitcoin. That will not be needed in future if cryptocurrency becomes mainstream. Fiat currencies are inflated  due to various reasons and cryptocurrency is somewhat not prone to such devaluation risk.

Probably 10 years down the line, we will see such things happening where we will consider bitcoin value of the products once it becomes widespread. But for now, it's wise to consider fiat equivalent for calculation.
2886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do ordinary people feel afraid of Bitcoin? on: February 15, 2021, 07:27:38 PM
Quote
The main question here is - Why people feel afraid of Bitcoin?

There are two main reasons behind it! Let me explain below,

1. Technical understanding - Not all people are technically sound, especially the older generation. If we want to use bitcoin, it needs a certain amount of technical knowledge. People can obviously use simplified online wallets but again, it needs understanding of fees, address generation etc. So those who are not tech savy, are afraid to use bitcoin!

2. Banking propaganda - I am not sure if it's happening all over the world. But in many countries, banks have started using their money and power to run propaganda against bitcoin. I personally receive many emails from my bank which talks about the risk of bitcoin and issue official advisory not to use it. The impact of banking system is immense on the society. So those who have not entered into bitcoin market, they prefer to stay away!

Also proper awareness about cryptocurrency is missing! We obviously have many online tutorials available to understand bitcoin and its ecosystem, but that is not enough to make someone intrigued about bitcoin. We need local and micro influencers to promote bitcoin among the mass. But due to banking propaganda, it is not being fruitful.
2887  Economy / Gambling / Re: Honest99 - Ethereum-based casino you don't need to trust on: February 15, 2021, 05:12:31 PM
https://honest99.bet/

No "register with google"
No "1000 free spins"
Open-sourced, 100% decentralized
No BS, only truth

Domain registered on 9 Feb 2021 and for only one year! The contract address holds only 0.183 ETH. Players need to choose a number between 0 - 99 so the winning probability is very less for one player unless multiple bets are placed! The bet amount is also variable.

Please understand player's psychology. People play to win. When the probability is so low, I doubt anyone will be interested in testing their luck!
2888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you say you made money if you never actally sell your coins? on: February 15, 2021, 02:23:09 PM
Should you hodl forever?  Does everyone have a price?  What is yours?   Huh

It's not a very valid discussion, I feel! If we don't consider the wealth unless it is converted to cash then majority of the billionaires would fall out of Forbes list. Because majority of them are considered rich because of their shareholding. Same goes here as well. If you are HODLing, then it's all fine to calculate that as your wealth and networth. So on papers, you have made money out of it because it increases your networth. It's as simple as that!
2889  Economy / Economics / Re: Confirmed NGN banks blocking account, what could be the outcome on the economy? on: February 15, 2021, 07:16:49 AM
That was expected to happen since Nigeria has decided to ban bitcoin and other crypto related activities! So people will have their funds frozen, they will face legal actions and some of them will end up in jail! That's how a failed government would want to do while they can't create any new opportunities. India will soon see similar things happening as Indian government has also decided to impose a blanket ban on crypto related activities. This is the mentality of dictatorship around the world.

It's sad to see that governments consider bitcoin as a threat rather than an opportunity. That's the problem with politicians and policy makers because they are under huge pressure from the banking lobby. It makes no sense but still it is happening! Some more regressive countries will soon be added to this list in 2021.
2890  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: "BTC giveaway" scamming sites get mind boggling BTC inflows... on: February 14, 2021, 08:57:02 PM
tesla-prizes.com, gets promoted by twitter spam

domain registered 2021-02-12 (2 day ago), the address has been receiving BTC since 2021-02-04 (10 days)

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1B2YDoqkmaki9yhrm1Pi4CV5YjEZ5DwAM9

received 10.66BTC so far ...

Lol! I wonder how people can be so stupid! Even though I didn't see this spam in Twitter (even after being very active in bitcoin related tweets), but still I wonder how people are falling pray for such scams! 10.66 BTC is a huge amount. I can live the rest of my life with this amount of money. It's true that stupidity has no limit indeed.

2891  Economy / Speculation / Re: Manipulation of price will decrease soon? on: February 14, 2021, 04:45:22 PM
Recently, we have seen lots of institutional fund to come in the market. Tesla have invested and possibly soon we will see rich people are using BTC as store of value. As the days go, we see the mcap is increasing. When it will increase more, what do you think, will the price manipulation be decreased? Or even effected? If we look at the Tesla announcement, it didn’t create huge changes. India may have a ban on crypto, that doesn’t effect the market. So, as we see the increase in mcap, will we see power of manipulation is decreasing?

With the billions of dollars worth institutional money flowing into bitcoin, I expect to see decrease in manipulation by whales! However, whales are whales for a reason. They will probably move to other less known liquid cryptocurrencies to continue with their manipulation game and will continue to earn money. In essence, the method will not change but just the field will be changed.

However, with institutional money, more and more bitcoins will be locked out and taken away from supply. Not sure what kind of issues it will bring in! But the control should not be passed to the corporates! That might create big issues for us!
2892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tucker vs Chase Bank USA (Chase caught scamming again) on: February 12, 2021, 05:03:33 PM
If you remember the market crash back in 2018, then you will understand why Chase pull up such malpractices! It's great that law stood by the right side and didn't give up in front of the banking lobby! Jemie was super hostile about bitcoin back in 2017 and 2018 which probably have resulted such malpractices from Chase! Now they are learning their lessons and slowly started showing positivity towards it.

Congrats for the free money anyway!
2893  Economy / Economics / Re: In crypto everybody pay high tx fee, no matter rich or poor people on: February 12, 2021, 11:42:24 AM
If you own 1000 ETH, you pay 10 ETH in fee for fast speed transaction, if you own 100 ETH you pay 1 ETH fee, if you own 10 ETH you pay 0.1 ETH.

In stock market, poor people pay the highest trading fee, where rich people pay low trading fee, 401k probably paid zero trading fee because they own the brokering market, yup, stock market benefit rich people and punish poor people on trading fee alone.

Lol! Since when ETH transaction fees are fixed on a percentage? It entirely depends on the network. So there's no guarantee that everyone is paying same fees! You can indeed set a manual fee for your transaction. But if the fee is too low the transaction may not get confirmed.

Also it is not correct to compare a regulated stock market with a decentralized digital currency system. In stock market, brokers act as a middleman and they decide the fees dor each one of us! In ETH, no one other than the network controls the transactions and fees! The miners can't have manual preferences! These are the basics bro!
2894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: shittiest soft ware ever!! on: February 12, 2021, 06:38:19 AM
Am I the only one that noticed that all the casinos that are run by softswiss choose to not show you the terms while making a deposit and then they end up not working. whatsup with that. Those specific casinos always end up scamming you for their money. The one time I finally win something my withdrawal is declined because some type of bullshit in the terms. do you guys think this is some way of them trying to scam all their players?

Can you please let us know the name of the specific casino? I mean ranting doesn't always help to identify the real issue! But it is best to talk about the specific issue that you have faced. It also helps to create awareness!

Which casino? How much you have lost? What is the response given by their support?

Let us know these to better identify the issue and possibly help to remediate.
2895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin consumes 'more electricity than Argentina' on: February 11, 2021, 02:13:47 PM
There are two ways to look at this information. Let me explain!

First way:
OMG! it's a sheer wastage of electricity. People are burning electricity for a coin which doesn't physically. The environment is getting impacted so badly as well. I will raise my voice to stop bitcoin mining at once and create awareness against it!

Now the second  way:
It's great to see that bitcoin has gained this much popularity. It's great to see that it is helping people financially and paving a way towards surveillance free economy. I will create awareness about bitcoin so that the adoption grows!

Now you have to choose which side you want to be!
2896  Economy / Economics / Re: Many Questions about cbdc and how we know its Fair? on: February 11, 2021, 01:31:17 PM
CBDCs will be nothing out of the box. If you are using plastic cards and online banking transactions today, your user experience will not change with CBDC. It will just be a digital representation of the same fiat currency. So if a $2 fiat bill can allow you to purchase a McDonald's burger, a digital $2 bill will allow you to do the same!

The entire system and supply will be controlled by the government so the chance of abuse is very less! Cash still has a certain degree of anonymity but with CBDC, your entire finance will be visible to the government. It is an ultimate surveillance toll governments around the world are planning to implement!
2897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does knowing your sport and teams really make you better at betting on them? on: February 11, 2021, 11:52:42 AM
Well, it's a basic of any sports betting or even in any other events of your life as well! Assume you are a software engineer and you have been asked to handle the job of a police commissioner of the city! Your struggle will be endless! Same goes for sports betting as well!

Every gambler needs to understand the sports they are betting on. Otherwise, the end result will be disastrous! If you don't understand cricket, don't bet on it! As simple as that! Knoqing the sport well, definitely increases your chance of winning!
2898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Will Crypto Regulation In South Africa Work Compared To Other Countries on: February 11, 2021, 08:24:23 AM
Cryptocurrency is one of the fatest growing industries out there - with new coins and tokens meeting daily needs everyday!

With this being said, local governments and banks are not too fond of this idea - thus regulations have been put in place.

How will these regulations set in other countries affect crypto in South Africa? https://4king.com/how-will-crypto-regulation-in-south-africa-work-compared-to-other-countries/

Lol! The tax authority in SA is known as SARS! That's funny!

However, from the article I just read, the regulations make sense! They are not considering cryptocurrencies as properties or currency. Rather they are considering it as an asset. However, the FIFO method is somewhat difficult from accounting perspective. But with proper justification in place, I hope the confusions will be cleared. Overall the structure looks good.

The best part is that SA is at least regulating the crypto market rather than a blanket ban! That's a positive!
2899  Economy / Economics / Re: I wamt to know everybody know that collapse amd finamcial crash coming on: February 10, 2021, 07:25:01 PM
Dollar stays or goes ? If dollar will go away i will sell all my usdc dai and usdt today.

So eur currency stay or it goes ?

Nothing goes! Everything will remain as it is! Just their purchasing power will go down due to inflation and devaluation.

Quote
Okay fiat is in danger yes its fine what about bitcoin ?
In big crash btc value goes  ?? Up or down?

Lol! It's a propaganda! During a financial crash, every fiat currency will be devalued so bitcoin will possibly go up!

Quote
So exacly what is going to happened.
We dont want bad surprises i want to be sure that im prepared if  they are going to use stable couns then wich  ??

We all want to know this !!
Here is oeople who knows but they dont tell us ....
Former bankers finamce or goverment people tell us plz.
Or get out of this forum if u dont help your fellow forum users

Chill dude! The world is not going to end during a financial crash. No one knows anything. The fiat currency gets devalued over time. If you are able to buy a McDonald's burger at $2 today, after 5 years the same burger will probably cost you $5. That's inflation due to which the purchasing power of a currency goes down! Take a break and drink up!
2900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: FreeWallet locked even Elon Musk. I still don't trust them. on: February 10, 2021, 04:53:51 PM
This incident should act as an eye opener to all whoever holds their coins to online account providers like coinbase or freewallet etc. I see they have unlocked Elon's account just after a tweet but imagine if it was any XYZ person! Probably it would have taken him a lifetime to unlock the account.

Cryptocurrency was introduced to remove the middleman from any financial transaction. Online wallets are the middlemen here which must be removed at all costs! Not your keys, not your crypto!
