2881  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a casino ever run without the government's awareness? on: March 28, 2023, 05:02:09 PM
Is it possible to run a decentralized gambling platform? I know that all popular gambling platforms have no choice but to be transparent to the law to have a steady business running, but with the introduction of CBDC and yes a registered gambling platform has no choice but to accept CBDC too,

For a moment I think your topic and the post doesn't really flow in the manner it is understandable but then I got your point. To answer your first question, yes they can run without government awareness but as you have rightly answered your own question, casinos are business outfit that are established to make gains and what determines the amount of gain in a business is the strength of patronage so that contribute to direct an employer on the kind of business and strategy to adopt. To run casino without government awareness you may not need KYC which makes it decentralized but how many bettors desires to play in secrecy when the issue of trust is getting higher. So a casino can desire to run in government control, pay tax and have return on investment due to high level patronage.

and I don't trust this centralized currency, I believe CBDC will have the capability to monitor incoming and outgoing funds, so that is what makes me think if it's possible to run a decentralized gambling platform at all.

It is gradually becoming a normal for bettors to play on a regulated casino because of same trust you mentioned.
2882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything is cyclical and repetitive. Bitcoin is no exception on: March 28, 2023, 03:37:42 PM
Why don't we apply that in investing in general and investing in virtual currencies in particular?

To compare bitcoin to the organic and structured nature of life survival in the economic world then we may not be doing a very good service and understanding of bitcoin in the space that it is  trying to occupy. For the doubts I can't say if Satoshi did envisage the institutional challenges that bitcoin is undergoing from different government and their agencies. So investment in virtual currency like bitcoin for now isn't without a little kind of skeptism unlike it contemporary.
2883  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New world order or CBDC against cryptocurrencies on: March 28, 2023, 01:27:24 PM
So it seems Nigeria is following Modi's plan but in a different context. Modi did the same in India to curb the use of black money and Nigeria did it to push the digital money. That's quite unfortunate that Nigerians are living under an authoritarian government.

It is a sad situation that the government is not placing priority on the people. Digital money in Nigeria is still far from Nigeria because of so many reasons not excluding comatose network.

Demonetization usually brings in more liquidity and positive upward trend to cryptocurrency similar to what we have seen in India.

Unfortunately it is not so. The naira seizure or redesigned against the old one was not in any way made to encourage the use of cryptocurrency, even bitcoin trading is still not popular as the government is still placing a ban on it or have not publicly lifted the ban on it. The purpose for the naira seizure according to popular opinion in Nigeria was for only political reason to reduce vote buying in the just concluded election but all of that is a failure because the election is overtly rigged against the popular presidential candidate of labour party. What is worst and to prove that the naira challenge and impoverishing of masses is that same old naira have been released for circulation after the election, so it was not to encourage the use of cbdc or cryptocurrency. It was for selfish gains.

However, Op could have added protest going on in various Nigerian states especially in the capital territory at the inec head quarters and national assembly due to non compliance with the constitution, electoral laws and Inec guidelines in the conduct of the Feb 25 , 2023 presidential election. The naira crunch is sequel to the fraud and rigging of the election.
2884  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: South Africa energy crisis, a peculiar Nigeria issue. on: March 27, 2023, 10:53:19 PM

√ South-Africa is an African country just like Nigeria, currently believed to be the fast growing industrialized country in Africa which I believe it's part of the reasons why many Nigerians are moving to South Africa for greener pastures. Does it mean we Nigerians don't have the capacity and the wherewithal as citizens to boldly make demand in such issues as this or it is due to I-don't-care lifestyle maybe cause some feel they are able to afford a generator set so need not be to paddle in such issues.

√ Or is it an issue of fear of the government by the citizens to their tendency on the use of force to gag citizens against what should be a demanding right. Or is there other underlying issues that am missing here.

I think this part na the concern for your post. Anyway to go to demand better governance no be the problem but na the aftermath of such demand matter. One be say dem no go listen to the people on wetin dem dey talk but dem go last last do wetin dey their mind. Two be say dem go bring soldiers on the people wey dey street make dem begin kill.

To compare naija leadership and South Africa own, my brother you sabi say naija history and constitution still carry military history and dictators join even the current Nigerian president na formal general for army but South Africa don dey enjoy undiluted democratic system. Even when dem dey for apartheid regime to when Mandela come become president better pass Nigeria.

Yes lately I don hear say deir electricity situation don dey fall and one of their legislative member dey express serious concern about the light issue and the guy say dem go fight to rescue South Africa and not to allow am degenerate to Lagos where generator dey make noise everywhere. Imagine the comparison, well I wish dem well.
2885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: March 27, 2023, 02:48:52 PM
The Security Officer who have love for boxing is highly rated in Namibia for having a lot of energy to hold on to opponent for longtime on the ring. The media speculation on the fight doesn't really favour Nighitumbwa but he is facing the fight coming up on May 13, 2023 in high spirit. I won't be surprised if the fight drag on to the last round and unanimous decision at the end of it all.
2886  Economy / Economics / Re: Where do we go from here on: March 27, 2023, 12:34:47 PM
there was a rumour about some incident where a robot threatened to crush him, I don't know how true is this, but not too long ago even the Microsoft boss Bill Gates is very concerned about the harms that AI could bring on humanity,

I think Elon musk is saying this in the way in economic purposes that AI are taking over the jobs and in capacity of human. He probably may be raising concerns about the jobs life like robots or humanoid robots do in place of human beings. These robots have in real time taken most employees out of job due to the growth in technology.

IMO I feel that business minded men like Elon musk and Bill gates should not bother themselves on what they have really enjoyed the advantage of. They prefer AI and humanoid robots in place of human beings to use them to cut cost in their businesses including production cost and why complain on a creation that you have chosen over human beings and the effects of which include unemployment and drop in GDP whose result is poverty.
2887  Economy / Gambling / Re: No bet is a waste on: March 27, 2023, 11:13:29 AM

For me gambling is mostly a way to relax. When i want to visit the football match i`m paying for the ticket, something, that i buy at the stadium. The gambling is the same for me - the money i lose is like buying a ticket for me.

Gambling is like a habit that one has and with habit you inch to carry it out with out your own control. So paying for ticket on a football match is not always all the time but gambling is done all the time. Gambling is not for only fun but for financial gain that will come of it. You can watch games without attaching money to it but if money is attached then you are gambling it to gain pecuniary benefit on it because when it doesn't go your way then you are forfeiting something which is the money used in gambling and one way depending on the consistency of loses, we do feel it when we lose.
2888  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: POS wahala: EFCC arrests 80 PoS vendors in Ondo, CBN Ban Banks 4rm Operating PoS on: March 26, 2023, 04:02:17 PM
Shey una dey see the country we dey inside, no be everything wey dey blame government.

From top to bottom  Grin my own view to repair this country na from top and that top na from number 1 citizen of Nigeria, that person wey be the commander in chief of the armed forces because Nigerian system works without institution but the bidden of the president.

Shall how una see the development, e good as EFCC dey go after this POS businesses or you dey feel say na another misplaced priority?

Yes oo I dey feel say na very big misplaced priority. Na the inefficiency of government dey make Nigerians dey take advantage of demselves. Okay make we even ask ourselves say where dem carry naira go keep wey start the scarcity? Dem dey do naira redesign so hasty because of political reasons without proper planning against the effects, hence somebody just wake think say the dream wey him see for night go perfect for real life. I no blame pos people, make government go arrest source where dem dey get the cash from, wetin concern pos people? Na Nigerians dem be so make government first arrest bank CEOs and executives if them actually make the money available.

I dey look through those name and I no sew Opay yet I dey see their Pos everywhere abi make person look through so we know where we stand.

That news say dem ban Opay, Kuda, and Palmpay operations in Nigeria be like say na rumour. I don read somewhere wey CBN debunk am as fake news but make we still put ears for ground.

Meanwhile make dem leave pos people to dey operate oo, dey can only bring money out and even thing go level up back. Government dey preach about entrepreneurship and micro businesses but na dem still dey frustrate am.
2889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does your country tax your gambling winnings? on: March 26, 2023, 03:17:35 PM

You are risking your own money and if you win you are penalised.
I'm curious as to how many other users have to pay taxes on their winnings.

The government usually don't concentrate on the winning to tax on it because that may not be easy to ascertain. The government that levy tax on gambling do that at the point of withdrawal which could be through income tax. That is it is charged as an income levied and not on how much won but how much you want to withdraw. In my country it is not a known phenomenon that tax are charged on a winning withdrawal especially if it is very minor and may not need KYC or any other form of identification but if it is huge amount that has to be moved out from the bank, maybe some form of tax on the money may be levied. Apart from the gambler, the owners of casino and gambling companies pay tax to the government and maybe such tax indemnify other forms of taxes from the customers.
2890  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam duckdice.io on: March 25, 2023, 05:37:35 PM

They accused me of something unclear and do not want to pay me my full amount. In their chat can not help, communicated rudely. At the post office answer for 3-5 days.

What was the accusation they made on you? It will be good to know for people who are responding to look into such and get you a reasonable answer. You have to show some prove if you want to accuse a casino because that is how your story will be believed. Show some screenshots of what happened then you can be advised appropriately.
2891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pastor Shuts Down His Church After Winning About $140,000 In Sports Betting.. on: March 25, 2023, 03:25:21 PM

The above affirms to the fact that many, are into what they do, not because they love it, or because its their calling, but because of the money they get to make from it, just imagine how many years this pastor have deceived his church members into believing he was genuinely called by God to serve as a pastor..

We have seen pastors that have brought different prophecy that are not founded including that they were asked to conduct washing service to ladies in the church so that they could be married and you see such pastors and assistants bathing women in the church premises half naked. We can all access these kinds of pastors stories that we begin to ask their place in the message they say God sent to them. Of course we know that many of them are fake but gullible people fall for their gimmicks.

Now my question is, As a business or as a career person who is also into gambling/betting, would you quit your current business or career if you won the same amount of money from gambling/betting?
Be sincere and state your reasons for your decision..

I don't think that will be reasonable to quit from your foundational source of income because you earned money from gambling except the plan has always been to adjust into a different source of income because no matter how much won, if you don't invest properly then the money is as good as gone some day.
2892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: March 25, 2023, 11:12:43 AM

So what are your speculations over this USA elections. And I know that everybody has their own speculations and also wins and also loose. So let's see what will happen?

If you had given us the list of contestants on the ballot then we can do some research and give a close speculation of our opinion based on the outcome of our enquiry, you didn't do that so how do we speculate that? Or which candidates are we to speculate against? The American election is still far in 2024 and that means the parties nominations and primary elections are yet to be done, so speculating on gambling of the American in coming president amounts to effort in  futility for now lets give sometime for that.
2893  Economy / Gambling / Re: Positive Gambling Quotes for 2023! on: March 25, 2023, 09:21:07 AM

So the two methods that you have conveyed are just an opinion, not a method.
No one can deliberately make gambling a profitable place.
In my opinion, profitable gamblers are those who can control themselves and their finances so that they don't experience too many or too many defeats because in gambling what is certain and real is only defeat.

Going by your second sentence, I think people are now deliberately working their ways into making gambling a profitable place. These people have made it a business venture either because of the economic hardship. They have brought a business angle towards gambling especially in soccer that I'm sure of because they can do their analysis and go for best odds no matter how small it is then they increase their staking power. They have realized that in soccer betting, if you bet so much games at a time in a slip that the chances are there higher to lose than if you bet very few games or even just one game at a time. So that is a deliberate attempt to be profitable in gambling when you reduce your losing chances and increases your winning chance and this is very possible in soccer because that is what many families are now surviving with.
2894  Economy / Gambling / Re: We NEED Bitcointalk Members Feedback on Casino Challenges! on: March 24, 2023, 10:26:23 PM
This is really interesting to know, really challenge games are competitive and attracts gamblers more because of it focus to win the challenge. It is fun to play challenge gambling, the challengers are more keen for the ultimate rewards. I can't say if scrabble game is played on casino already, you may introduce it to the challenge and this will help grow your casino especially if a new comer in casino gambling.
2895  Economy / Economics / Re: Money hardly come this days! Why? on: March 24, 2023, 07:32:55 PM

My children are at home chase from school, I could not pay fees again. What could be the cause of scarcity of cash?

Not being able to pay for children school fees is not because of unavailability of cash because if you had cash in your bank account you can do an online transfer to the school. It is unfortunate with the complain but you are not the only one feeling the hard economic reality globally. However you have to take a step and effort to get things done for yourself, don't always wait for the government because they will not be able to provide jobs for everyone. Get a skill. Writing is already a skill, so develop on it and the social media can help you grow faster
2896  Economy / Economics / Re: Effects of Cryptocurrency Adoption on: March 24, 2023, 03:47:42 PM
empowering entrepreneurs to innovate and grow their businesses.

How does Bitcoin do this? Do you mean creating wealth for entrepreneurs because I won't agree with that assumption. Or you mean by giving entrepreneurs access to optional financial services for them to leverage on then I will agree because bitcoin is traversing the business world so  transaction of business and payment is easier.

In Venezuela and Brazil, legacy financial systems' costs and bureaucracy drive people to experiment with and switch between different cryptocurrencies.

This is the main achievement of Satoshi in bitcoin creation.  Unlike fiat bureaucracy, what you need in bitcoin payment approval is 1 confirmation.
2897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The future of CBDC in gambling. on: March 24, 2023, 02:44:59 PM

If Casino's in Macau begin accepting CBDC's, It may prompt other casino's to follow suit especially in places where CBDC's already have the Legal Tender status.

The question of cbdc being accepted in casino is still early and hasty because it is not all countries that have even accepted to adopt bitcoin transaction. And the currency to use in an online game should be used by many other countries to be able to have access to deposit and withdrawal. Even at the moment,  it is not all cryptocurrency is used in casino so using of cbdc will be jurisdiction based if that will happen in any case. That means some countries will be restricted from using their own cbdc.
2898  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The Role of Currency Spectators In Currency Value Case Study of 9ja ₦ vs $ on: March 23, 2023, 03:51:22 PM

-A lot of efforts have been put in place to salvage the already worsening situation of the naira against the value of the dollar

Bro abeg me I never see any effort wey dem don make all. Since 1999 at least we never see any better thing wey government do. If you dey think say naira redesign go help the dead currency to come back, abeg make you forget that one because redesigning for now isn't the solution in the face of no production. Nigeria no dey produce anything, no electricity, no road and other amenities wey go reduce concentration on dollar demand. Now CBN don say dem go release the old 500 and 1k ,so wetin dem finally achieve with the redesign. Or just one thing wey I see dat have reduced is kidnapping for now but that is not even their aim for redesigning the naira.

-so the question is, is it justifiable for the CBN to use anti-graft agencies such as the EFCC to arrest currency speculators/p2p Exchange?

No it is not justifiable. The government is not able to sincerely control the dollar because so many things are lacking in the Nigerian system.

-What is the rule of speculators in the outcome of the value of any asset a case study of the 9ja ₦ vs $.

Me I no even blame them. In fact if e no be them self ordinary man no go even get access to the dollar. Them go carry all put for their backyard as them don do for new naira currency. The people wey dey travel or do international business for dey hear am no be small. So dem don be middle men between banks/CBN and masses.
2899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Virtual Betting/ Real bet on: March 23, 2023, 02:54:22 PM
General saying about betting on many games at a slip is that you are likely to lose and that is correct in my view. If you are betting 10/15 football matches, you have increased your losing chances.

Surprisingly i was wipe with their manipulation at this point i just have to quick to wait for the previously bet matches to finished running.

Don't be quick to switch decision. You could have waited for your football bet to see the outcome but you hastily went to play on vfootball and you got hurt. It is not manipulation but it is already programmed.

Have you experience the manipulations over vFootball betting?

There are no manipulation in vfootball. It is already scripted or programmed. It is simply a luck game and never on your prowess of analysis. Don't play it if you don't have chances of being lucky because it can't be analysed.
2900  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin rising from banking collapse...Permanent or new Fed stops ahead? on: March 21, 2023, 09:10:56 PM

TLDR: Do you think that the Feb or other Bitcoin adversaries have any potential plans to either hurt Bitcoin, or make the banking system seem more reliable for a period of time again to prevent the current uptrend from continuing?

Bitcoin has become like a golden fish that can't hide. In the midst of many other assets, bitcoin is the one that defies the detects of  regulation and so no form of direct regulation will limit the growth of bitcoin. Gold, silver, copper and other derivative assets are directly regulated but bitcoin is not. Therefore whatever decision by fed on bitcoin will atmost drag the price briefly down but it will correct it self after a while and that tells us self sustaining ability of bitcoin against the government. The banking system can not be reliable because it has been exposed of corruption through government third party standard making it difficult for bitcoin to be made irrelevant, the relevance of bitcoin is found on the purpose which it is fulfilling already.
