2901  Economy / Speculation / Re: Am I the only one who feels relieved when the price goes down? on: November 20, 2013, 12:06:31 AM
Very few cashed out at $900.

(unless you mean BTCChina)
2902  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2013, 11:18:59 PM
I also don't really get the current "bubble-talk" - imho a real pop would bottom somewhere in the 150-200 range (and even this statement must seem lunatic to non-bitcoiners, since 200 is simply the value we had 2 weeks ago...).
Currently it feels like a re-distribution from weak hands not grasping the recent upward movement to stronger hands.
My guess is that either the "pop" to 150 will happen soon OR we will see some strong 4digit upward movement followed by the real "pop" which will still bottem in the 4digits - both scenarios followed by some months of calm time (which means linear growth in bitcoin world nevertheless...).
The current chinese pressure as well as the positive hearing seem to point towards scenario two, but either way my coins will remain in cold-storage  Cool.

I doubt we will ever see $150, I'd say more like $250, which is around where the price started to accelerate at a faster pace.

Czyli sprzedales? Wink

Ja trzymam. Z BTC lepiej dlugoterminowo byc, od wielu miesiecy najwyzej drobne zakupy robie za BTC, ale nie sprzedaje tylko wiecej dochodzi.
2905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How original Bitcoin client fee scales? on: November 19, 2013, 09:37:11 AM
In the past as the exchange rate has soared, the recommended fee has been reduced. I think this has happened 3 or 4 times already.  If the exchange rate gets to be significantly above $1000, I'd expect that the recommended fee will be reduced again.

Not necessarily:

2908  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: November 18, 2013, 10:48:52 PM
There's a problem with opening wallets with 20 000 iterations of PBKDF2, couldn't log in at first, got a "syntax error" message, after managing to log in all my BTC addresses were zeroed, and loading one of the previous wallet backup only helped after trying about 10 times (with different backup). My browser is Chrome (newest version).
2909  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of Major Bitcoin Heists, Thefts, Hacks, Scams, and Losses on: November 18, 2013, 07:16:01 PM
2nd biggest Polish exchange hacked:

http://bidextreme.pl/

Some people say they were "hacked", though, because they didn't see their bitcoins change addresses.

2910  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 17, 2013, 11:22:25 PM
Somebody is "hiding" a ~2000BTC ask at around $3300 on Gox's order book.  Not sure what they're trying to communicate since most people won't ever look up there.

Gox has limited trading functionalities so maybe it's someone who doesn't have time to check the price very often, and doesn't want to sell to low?
Though they still should have spread those 2k BTC among more orders at different prices.
2911  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 17, 2013, 08:13:56 PM
Isn't it strange to see the price on btc-e surpass that on bitstamp?

 bitstampUSD   468.9900
 btceUSD       476.0200

Yeh I was wondering, if this the longest thread in this forums history?  Then that got me thinking, on what is the the longest thread in any forum ever lol.  I wonder.  Anyone know?

I know of at least one forum that is (nowadays) less active than bitcointalk.org and has some threads that are longer.

This is just karma, dank, so there isn't much you can do beyond doing your best to right the wrongs you have inflicted upon your victim, and hope for the best.

BTW. You're still tagged as a scammer, do you believe that not having the negative feedback would result in people perceiving you differently?

2915  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: November 17, 2013, 01:18:39 PM
although as that card was never very popular with either gamers or miners your chances here are not great either.  Angry

HD 5830 actually was actually quite popular among the miners, it usually had a good price:speed ratio, though there was less demand for it at times when the BTC price:difficulty ratio was getting worse because 5830 is a power hungry GPU.

You mean like few years back? I though HD 5850 and HD 5870 is much better in term of hash/price?

HD 5870 weren't usually that good in terms of speed/price but they were quite good in terms of speed/power draw, and using them meant savings on motherboards/RAM/CPU because there's a limited amount of free PCI-E slots on each motherboard.

I'm not saying it was always like that with 58xx GPUs, but in general it was how I described.

5830 were cheap but not so appealing when it meant they would take up more space and draw more power.
5870 were expensive but they would take up a lot less space.
5850 were a good balance between those two.

Thanks for sharing this information in which you explained the membership level. I think after read this all confusion about members must be finished. Thankss.

No, and there are no plans to do that. AFAIK forum isn't really in a need of more money so it doesn't matter that there's a lower demand for the Donator/VIP titles. Current Donator/VIP title holders paid in BTC, and the amount (in BTC) will remain unchanged for prospective donators.
2918  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Membership levels in these forums. on: November 16, 2013, 08:04:30 PM
malevolent, thanks as for that was very helpful.  I was wondering, how is activity calculated?  I'm pretty sure that's somewhere on the forum too.

It's explained in the post quoted above.

Basically, you just have to post at least once per 14 days and your activity will increase by 14 units.
2919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should it be bitcoin or Bitcoin? on: November 16, 2013, 07:53:49 PM
I'll quote one of the factoid slots:

Quote
The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC. The Bitcoin client published at bitcoin.org is officially named simply "Bitcoin", though it is sometimes called "Bitcoin-Qt" or the "Satoshi client" to distinguish it from other Bitcoin clients.
