2901  Other / Meta / Re: Lock Russian section. on: March 17, 2022, 07:35:55 PM
If you want to accuse every Russian for what is done to Ukraine, then you are narrow minded and we can accuse you for every criminal action any Ukrainian did.
OP, you have to realise that the forum cannot act without reason. To judge all russians here for the act of their president is not in line with how educated and enlightened people should behave. Also, how will locking the Russian section of this forum be of any help or contribution to stopping the war? We can't follow blindly without reason, unless the Russian section and the people there somehow go against forum rules & regulations, i don't see a reason this should be considered.

If the request of every Tom, Dick and Harry is granted on the subject of locking different sections on this forum due to some happenings, i don't think we will still have a variety of sections.
2902  Economy / Economics / Re: US warns India over oil deal with Russia on: March 17, 2022, 04:26:44 PM
As long as other countries, most known being Germany, keep buying gas and oil from Russia, I'm not convinced that India will care that much about all this. India can easily point fingers and shrug.
True, a big question is if the United States has given same response to countries like Germany and Netherlands that still buy or just trying to intimidate India to a decision that they did not take.

There were concerns before the Russian-Ukranian crisis escalated that the US representing NATO did not handle negotiations well enough diplomatically, but went on to issue verbal threats in forms of sanctions to try bully Putin, this didn't turn out well. Why use terms like "a move to the wrong side of history?" for an independent and big country like India, it is provocative and a leader who is hot headed may not react well to such.

Ask yourselves, if it were India that sanctioned Russia, will the US follow suit and obey? some issues are better handled diplomatically, let the other party see reason with you, instead of just dishing out unnecessary threats.
2903  Economy / Economics / Re: Fuel prices hitting an eight year high on: March 17, 2022, 03:47:31 PM
The majority of the news I could find in our country indicated that those who work in the transportation industry were considering suspending their operations for the time being because they were spending more money than they were earning as a result of the current oil price, for which we can't really blame them.
It seems the issue of increasing fuel prices is a global issue because in my locale, we are still experiencing same challenges, i can't say it is directly linked to the Russian-Ukraine crisis, but the cost of PMS has gone up and the increment has directly influenced the cost of other commodities. With these developments, Innovations like the Tesla and other electrically powered vehicles will be the next sort after.

Seriously we need to diversify and stop the complete dependence on fuel and petroleum products alone for power, there should be ample alternatives of power for everyone to use the one best suited to them. If this had been the case, the effects of increasing fuel price will not be as dire as it is currently.
2904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine: Zelensky signed the law "On virtual assets" today on: March 17, 2022, 02:35:47 PM
I think that's an important development...
Yes, not just for Ukraine but for the entire crypto community and world. The crisis between Russia and Ukraine is a global event and the provisions and things bitcoin and Digital  assets have made possible are in view of the global audience. Watch out, because change is constant and the events of crisis be reviewed afterwards, the important role crypto and digital assets has played will be evaluated, more countries will become neutral or publicly endorse crypto and digital assets as a way to be more prepared in the case of an eventuality like a crisis coming their.
2905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 16, 2022, 10:06:02 PM
Juventus in shambles! 3-0 down at home to Villareal and its full time! I dont think anyone would have expected that result. 5 shots on target for Juve but they couldnt convert any.
Juve is just a club still riding on former glory, if you watch them play, they are just a regular team that will be difficult to be anyone's favourite for the UCL cup. What is most disappointing about this game is that it is a home game for Juve and they have failed to even score a goal against Villarreal. Currently on the UCL, we have three Spanish clubs, three English clubs, one German club and one club from Portugal (Benfica). Which teams do you predict will play next against each other in the next stage?
2906  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 16, 2022, 09:54:50 PM
Liverpool have scored 2 goals. Firmino and Jotta each scored 1 goal.
Jotta is a specialist in scoring anytime it comes to arsenal,  with this lead, the title race is still very much on and Manchester city will have to sit up. The situation escalated very quickly for arsenal, from one to two real quick, we should have really taken advantage of the first half and converted our chances. We played well, but Liverpool is a very good club and have proven it once again.

Big concern, if we (arsenal) still can't win clubs in EPL like Liverpool, Manchester city and Chelsea...why are we struggling so hard to get into the champions League where it is the best of the best each season.
2907  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 16, 2022, 08:56:55 PM
More reason on why am I rooting for Liverpool on this game lol. First off, It would be lovely if Liverpool could snatch the trophy from City this season and if they actually beat Arsenal today then that means there is still a decent chance for United to get that top 4 spot.
With the way Arsenal have handled play, Liverpool will be the lucky side to get away with a draw or even a win. Partey's display so far has been nothing short of world-class, even Martinelli. Arsenal has controlled play and they are such a joy to watch tonight, now i am just hoping they get a goal first and secure the win. Manchester city supporters will be in support of Arsenal as well, Liverpool is such a threat to them as well. I'm certain that klopp will make changes in the second half.
2908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 16, 2022, 07:52:18 PM
If this time Liverpool can beat Arsenal with a high enough score, maybe Man City's worries will actually happen. Arsenal is now a hot topic of discussion because, after a long time of the sinking, they are making a comeback which they will soon show when they face Liverpool.
It's a very difficult game to predict, both teams are favourite to win, Liverpool needs the win to keep their hope of winning the EPL alive, so they will be putting their all. For arsenal, we have enjoyed a winning streak, and with the likes of Odegaard, Xhaka & Partey in form...we can cause an upset and even win the game, we have the home advantage, and it may count.

For Tottenham, regardless of their previous defeat to MUFC, i am confident they can pull all three points as they looked to be in form before the game they played against MUFC, By the end of this first half, i expect to see spurs leading the scoreline.
2909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 16, 2022, 03:31:09 PM
Mohamed Salah has developed into a productive striker since being brought in from AS Roma, Salah's impact is very large for Liverpool's game.
Salah scored many important goals for Liverpool, his contribution to Liverpool is unquestionable. So Liverpool management should be able to think
wisely about Salah's request to increase his salary.
If Liverpool wins the EPL and UCL, i can't think of another player that will be candidate for the Ballon d'or if not Mo'Salah. if Liverpool looses him, he will be a difficult player to replace.

Now that MUFC are out of the race for both EPL and UCL, i wonder what the future of CR7 is in the club, will he leave, which club can secure his signature should he make certain his intentions to leave?

What are the chances that Messi will also remain at PSG?
2910  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 15, 2022, 10:47:07 PM
Well Messi had an amazing team this season and probobly the best by names in champions league, while Ronaldo is playing for Man Utd that is really struggling this year and it was expected that they get knocked out by Atletico Madrid in this round. While PSG had a lead in the first match and even in the second.
As much as one man can be the difference for both teams, PSG & MUFC,  one man cannot always be the difference. This is the champions League and no team is here to joke, to win...you either play together as a team or go home. When playing against an experienced and dangerous team like ATM, you always have to be careful about how you attack and press forward so not to leave your defence wanting. Many people argue that Dalot for MUFC was the reason for the goal for not defending well, but if you watched the game, you'd notice that Maguire moved forward too much and left two players for Dalot to cover, a defensive error.
2911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 15, 2022, 10:10:47 PM
...Ronaldo did not get a good chance in this match even though he previously scored a heattrick against Tonttanham.
Many had high hopes for CR7 coming into this game, i don't blame them.. he was on fire against Tottenham in the epl, but tonight Atletico Madrid's defence have been able to stop him as well as the other players that were thrown against them. I wouldn't say Manchester United didn't play well, they dominated play and gave us a good game, but they simply were not the best team tonight even with the home advantage. Now there's no Messi and no Ronaldo in the UCL, It should be Atletico against benfica next, it should be a good display as well.
2912  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 15, 2022, 09:41:07 PM

Eyes still on the game at Old Trafford though as I've got a bet on Atletico (4/1) so I'm kind of hoping they get another goal to cushion the game and force Rangnick to bring on Pogba and Varane -- I meant Cavani of course.

Pogba is on now, Rashford and Cavani as well, the tension is building up in the game, MUFC pressing hard to get the goal but this Atletico Madrid defence is a tough nut to crack with very experienced defenders and they are good at soaking up pressure unlike what we saw from PSG last week. We are in the last ten minutes of play and if MUFC scores now, they may just win...Even in the Benfica- Ajax game, any team with the goal now wins.
2913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 15, 2022, 09:01:26 PM
goallll, we saw Lodi score in the 41' minute. Manchester United's defense is really very bad but my big question is why there are no big changes made by Rangnick. the first half will end soon, hopefully in the second half, manchester united can return their face at home.

Man Utd 0 - 1 Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid is not a team that you will not want to score first against you, especially just before halftime...As they now have the lead, Diego Simeon will beef up defense. Looking at the line up, i was wondering why some players like Pogba where not included in the start up and why Maguire who has been in bad form still allowed to start and even captain the team. Good thing Ronaldo is playing and the likes of Bruno Fernandez back on the team from covid, if the coach brings in Pogba, MUFC may still have a chance IMO.

Ajax - Benfica game is still goaless, surely there must be a winner in both games today, no draws.
2914  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: E-naira and Crypto currency on: March 15, 2022, 04:30:43 PM
It could be that the Central Bank of Nigeria actually wanted to have a real digital currency that could compete favourably with Bitcoin or other crypto assets but couldn't get it right. It failed woefully on its face. Even most of those who initially downloaded the E-naira app from onset have uninstalled it now.
Because the Nigerian government cannot be trusted, another angle to look at it is that people in the financial arm of government endorsed the project as a means to siphon money, because they must have known from the beginning that the country is not matured enough (technical wise) for such a project to be successful, the country is facing too many challenges. So it is a good project in my opinion, pushed forward with bad intentions or ulterior motives. There was no good marketing for the project afterwards and no incentives to encourage people to try it out to ensure the project became a success, the project was just launched and left to fly.
2915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Develop a Reading Culture on: March 15, 2022, 04:07:42 PM
I have read alot of books before, but now I read only things that I have interest in.
Saying this means you just read a bunch of books then with no particular interest. It is good and commendable, but still not good. Good in the sense that though you may have not observed development particularly because you read random books, development actually took place. The importance of reading especially to develop a particular area of your life cannot be overstated.

...this forum can give you every knowledge you want in bitcoin, I personally do not think that is is necessary to read one book a day.
Read one chapter in a book i think is what you mean, because reading one book a day sounds impossible, unless they are very short. It is not mandatory, but necessary in my opinion...if you can read a chapter a day especially when you are trying to develop an area of your life, you will definitely see results.

For forum benefits, if you are a reader, the quality of your input into this forum will definitely improve, more people will be able to gain from your improving and developing knowledge.

2917  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: reason why people fall victims of scammers everyday especially on social media on: March 14, 2022, 07:18:03 PM
People got scammed clearly because of their own selfish desires and eventually because of their greed of money.
Not always the case you know, the greed for money is not usually what scammers always prey on, although it is majorly what scammers take advantage of, but some people who are not even greedy for money have been swindled of their cash and details for fraudulent purposes. Scammers devise new methods daily and there are various types of scams and cybercrimes currently.
2918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 14, 2022, 04:49:44 PM
Now, it seems highly unlikely for Manchester United to get back into the top 4. I think they are not going to make it this season.  Manchester United really need to start playing as teamwork otherwise I think they will go further down the points table
It seems very unlikely that Manchester United can hold on and win all their remaining games, the team is very unpredictable and can be a flop when you least expect. Looking at the Crystal palace vs Manchester City game, i doubt crystal palace will be able to edge pass Manchester city as they did against wolves even though they will have the home advantage. The Manchester city players know what's at stake and will not gamble with their opportunity to be EPL winners this season.
2919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 14, 2022, 01:17:37 PM
Erling Haaland should have gone to England in my opinion but I think the Spanish League is more appealing to him.
New reports suggest that Haaland may be on his way to Manchester city as they have reportedly come to an agreement.

To Pep's team, with the quality of players there, the team may become unstoppable in attack with Haaland.

Barcelona can take their mind off now and focus on Salah to join Aubumeyang in their attack.

From the last PSG vs Real Madrid game, even though Benzema stole the shine, Mbappe had a pretty good display. He has such a great career in front and a move to Real Madrid may help mould him into a finer player.

Don't turn me into a laughing stock I'm just trying to understand what I don't know...
I totally love the motive behind OP's discuss, a pure desire and intent to learn and become better. It is with such a desire that knowledge quickly comes to someone. Rather than pretending to know, you have humbled yourself to ask what you do not know. I think such an attitude is merit deserving and should be emulated by others as well. I will definitely revisit this your post to encourage you with a merit as soon as i get to give.
