Many had high hopes for CR7 coming into this game, i don't blame them.. he was on fire against Tottenham in the epl, but tonight Atletico Madrid's defence have been able to stop him as well as the other players that were thrown against them. I wouldn't say Manchester United didn't play well, they dominated play and gave us a good game, but they simply were not the best team tonight even with the home advantage. Now there's no Messi and no Ronaldo in the UCL, It should be Atletico against benfica next, it should be a good display as well.

Damn, apparently Manchester United have to swallow another bitter pill this season in the Champions League even though they have Ronaldo in their team. Don't know what curse this team received and I really believe it was a very bad result for them.

Ajax also failed in the second leg at home and it was something unlucky for both teams at home today. Benfica who came with all the doubts can finally advance to the quarter-finals this season, it was luck for them.

if a team can play good defense they can win a championship by mastering that style as well, I am not saying Atletico Madrid will win the tournament, but at least they have proven once again that defensive play is still an effective way to win games at the highest levels.

What an interesting night we had! Ajax and Manchester United both failed in their task and have been eliminated from the Champions League. I won't be saying that I'm very surprised by the result in the Manchester United - Atletico Madrid match. Because they had equal chances to advance and Atletico Madrid were successful about it. It's not surprising that Man United was finally knocked out of the Champions League, because this season Man United has played inconsistently

As much as one man can be the difference for both teams, PSG & MUFC,  one man cannot always be the difference. This is the champions League and no team is here to joke, to win...you either play together as a team or go home. When playing against an experienced and dangerous team like ATM, you always have to be careful about how you attack and press forward so not to leave your defence wanting. Many people argue that Dalot for MUFC was the reason for the goal for not defending well, but if you watched the game, you'd notice that Maguire moved forward too much and left two players for Dalot to cover, a defensive error.

Yep. It is very unfortunate that Man United players cannot make a single goal although they dominated the match. They actually made better stats, 11 shots and 5 shots on target. while Atletico Madrid only made 8 shots and only 3 on target. From the stats, we know that Atletico players have a better finishing accuracy, it was something the Man United players don't have in this match. Well, I don't know what's happening with Man United squad, actually they have some players who have good experience in UCL tournaments. The players like Ronaldo, Pogba, and Cavani must have good accuracy to execute every goal attempt. Sadly, most of them were put on the bench, only Ronaldo became the starter.

It cannot be denied that the finishing from Man United in that match was very disappointing. They had chances, several chances, but ........ zero results.
I am sure that many Man United fans are very disappointed with this result. We also know that Atletico was also not really excellent in playing in that match, but yeah, this is like Atletico Madrid was very fortunate.

It was an incredible result!
Ajax 0-1 Benfica - Benfica resist until the end and are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Ajax is always on top of the game, but Benfica was much better at a strategic level, managing to score at the right time and completely nullify Ajax attacks. I think few believed that Benfica would be able to beat Ajax, but they surprised a lot of people!

It is because of Manchester United is not in their best playing prime, that is why it is looking like Ronaldo is not doing good again. Really, I was absolutely ridiculous expecting Manchester United to reach the quarter-finals against Atletico Madrid in that match. Manchester United played well and I don't think they managed to create many chances because of Atletico Madrid's strong defence. After all, Manchester United didn't defend well in that match where they conceded 2 goals even though the referee ended up canceling Felix's goal for offside.

Previously I thought Ajax could easily qualify for that match with a win, moreover they managed to dominate the match well. Ajax had 70% possession and over 15 tries but luck was not on their side in that match. Benfica clearly qualified by luck even though Ajax deserved to advance to the quarter-finals.

Manchester United didn't got the results they wanted. Although, they dominated the game with a ball Possession of 60.1 and their opponents, Athletico Madrid record a ball Possession of 39.9, the match was a frustrating game for United. They had so many scoring chances, but could not convert their chances to goal. On the other side, Athletico madrid deserve their victory over United at the old Trafford, after their first goal which Felix scored with a stunning slide in the 33th minutes was ruled out by VAR, not too long in the 41th minute Lodi Renan recored another header which gave them the lead over United.

I don't really understood what happened to my club Manchester United in that match. With the way they started it was certain to me that they will win the match but the reverse was the case. Despite that they dominated the game in possessions and in passes.
I really wished Ralf Rangnick made that 66 minutes changes immediately second half started. Who knows if the story would have been different. Well it was a disappointing night for Manchester United fans, we expected much from Ronaldo.
