Don't you have to pay for Amazon bandwidth usage? WHat if the bandwidth usage charges are more than the masternode payments?
You get 15GB a month free I think. I have no idea what MN bandwidth usage will be, we'll have to see. Also depends how many MNs there end up being.

Another option (perhaps the best choice imho) would be to host the node on a home server and ask your existing provider for a 2nd static IP address for a game server or something, then exit that through a good VPN provider perhaps. Their is a lot to be said for owning and having access to the physical equipment for your master node.
Yeah I'm starting to think this way. I need to find out how to have four MNs running on the same box in separate VMs but each one with its own static IP. Cheaply.

Apart from Amazon, who else are masternode ops using? (Pref non US)
Speaking of "apart from Amazon"... I would be interested to know what percentage of the 50-odd masternodes are there right now. It'd be easy for them to shut them all down on a whim. Right now, 30 of 55 are running on Amazon. Hence my desire to run my intended others elsewhere. Most masternodes are there right now because there is a detailed guide with screenshots on how to set it up. If some of the members of the community create additional guides on how to set it up in other places, people will be happy to move them. So if any of you guys could write a guide for some other options, please go ahead and do it. True, but cost is also an issue - an Amazon micro instance is basically free. Chaeplins guide can be followed exactly from the part where you're ssh'ed in to your server, regardless of where it is. In fact that part on is the easiest bit.

DarkCoin wallet is out of sync its stuck at 0 hours behind how do I get it in sync
If you mouse hover over the progress bar you'll see it's actually up to date with the last block, it just doesn't realise it... I move the mouse over the bar and nothing happens .I click debug I see this number 64484 May be different in my linux client. 64484 was the latest block at the time you did that, so it's synced up, don't worry. here look at the picture its states its out of sync http://imageshack.com/a/img841/5002/cwme.jpg copy past to web browser I'm not doubting you mate, my wallet does the same thing, it's up to date, check the latest block here: http://explorer.darkcoin.io/chain/DarkCoinedit: don't forget to set a password!

Did anyone notice that Vault of Satoshi added DRK fiat and alt-to-drk exchanges?
I contacted Bittylicious in the UK and was told that they've had two requests for Darkcoin in the last two months, one of those being from me. How many people here have wished in the last few weeks they could simply just buy DRK with fiat without jumping through hoops? We need this to be easier for people to do, so don't be shy about politely asking your local fiat/crypto merchant to provide the service - the service will only come if they know there's a market for it. For Darkcoin to succeed people need to be able to easily get it, and easily spend it. If I was young and talented I'd be working on a p2p dbay...

I'm wondering, if the darksend code is opensource, so another coin can implements it and DarkCoin will loose some value because it will not be the only one providing the feature ? Or I'm wrong ?
I compiled about a dozen wallets before I discovered Darkcoin. Darkcoin-qt was the first one that actually worked, without time spent modifying makefiles, correcting dependencies, and other buggering about. And this was on bog standard X/ubuntu boxes, nothing exotic. Most coin devs haven't got a clue.

Have you noticed this ? Timed Hadrfork Set ntp https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin/blob/master/src/protocol.cpp#L16-L35// The message start string is designed to be unlikely to occur in normal data. // The characters are rarely used upper ascii, not valid as UTF-8, and produce // a large 4-byte int at any alignment. // Public testnet message start static unsigned char pchMessageStartTestOld[4] = { 0xfc, 0xc1, 0xb7, 0xdc }; static unsigned char pchMessageStartTestNew[4] = { 0xce, 0xe2, 0xca, 0xff }; static unsigned int nMessageStartTestSwitchTime = 1398869551+(60*5);
// Darkcoin message start (switch from Litecoin's) static unsigned char pchMessageStartLitecoin[4] = { 0xfb, 0xc0, 0xb6, 0xdb }; static unsigned char pchMessageStartDarkcoin[4] = { 0xbf, 0x0c, 0x6b, 0xbd }; static unsigned int nMessageStartSwitchTime = 1400094580; //Wed, 14 May 2014 19:09:40 GMT
void GetMessageStart(unsigned char pchMessageStart[], bool fPersistent) { if (fTestNet) memcpy(pchMessageStart, (fPersistent || GetAdjustedTime() > nMessageStartTestSwitchTime)? pchMessageStartTestNew : pchMessageStartTestOld, sizeof(pchMessageStartTestNew)); else memcpy(pchMessageStart, (fPersistent || GetAdjustedTime() > nMessageStartSwitchTime)? pchMessageStartDarkcoin : pchMessageStartLitecoin, sizeof(pchMessageStartDarkcoin)); }
From Litecoin { 0xfb, 0xc0, 0xb6, 0xdb } to Darkcoin { 0xbf, 0x0c, 0x6b, 0xbd } Poetry right there.

I left my DarkCoin wallet untouched for a few weeks, reinstalled it today, and my balance is 0. My receive addresses are still there, and my password is still working, but I don't have a transaction history or a balance. What gives? It wasn't much, but now I'm not sure I can trust this coin or wallet. Help me out here.
I'm not sure how this combination of things is even possible. Ah, nevermind. Just had a "dudtastic" moment. The transactions never took place because my balance is still in the drkpool network. Thanks for being quick to help. Don't worry, we all have our moments of "pilot error."

Interesting Hirocoin folks are talking about a multipool coming up for HIRO. Do we have anything similar in the works? I know there is a bounty out there for the upcoming fork for NOMP and p2pool.
2014. The year miners only mined everyone else's coin.Yeah it's just short term chasing your own tail, it does nothing for the real value of a coin, just makes the pool operators and the big traders money.

When I do "getinfo" I don't get the port number at all. Should it be showing up here? Maybe that's my problem when trying to set up my remote wallet?
Sorry, was tired, I meant "darkcoind masternode list," not "darkcoind getinfo."

quick question about masternodes....I believe, however I may be wrong, that one can set up a masternode with more than a 1,000. If so, let's say that number is 5,000, so one has '5' masternodes on one ip. Can this 'work' in the sense that it dilutes the number of differing ips and does one get counted as one masternode or as 5? I know this has been covered , just looking for a little more clarity especially if I should set up different ips for each 1,000 dark
I guess your question is still not answered and I would like to know it as well as I am thinking of setting up some different masternodes as well. I guess you need 5 different machines, 5 different ip's and 5 times a wallet with 1000 DRK. But maybe you just need 5 different machines with 5 times 1000 DRK and they can all run at the same ip... can anyone clear this up? While I can see the convenience of multithousand masternodes, less admin for the operator, I think I'd prefer it it it was kept to single thousand DRK masternodes, purely for purposes of network resilience. The more discrete machines the better. Plus personally I like to split my resources and not keep all eggs in one basket.
