Dilip is a valid verified PayPal business account. I don't believe the scammer actually has access to the account. Dilip did not respond to an email sent to that gmail address.

2908  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cartmell v. Bitcoinica on: August 09, 2012, 10:40:12 PM
I feel this will set a bad legal precedent if it goes through. Bitcoin so far has been able to avoid any regulation, because it is deemed "play money" If there is a court case that recognized Bitcoin as a currency, prepare for incoming regulation.

I don't agree at all.  Once govn't starts ruling on bitcoin you'll see it move more in to the mainstream.
2909  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Moneypaks - How Anonymous? on: August 09, 2012, 07:46:24 PM
There are security cameras at every retail location selling these things so if some one want to find out who you are then can.
2910  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB 25 BTC for PayPal or other method of payment on: August 09, 2012, 02:44:13 PM
Current PPUSD Price is 12.16  so 25 BTC would be 304.00 PPUSD  PM if interested.
2911  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: RandomQ VS TheBitMan Small Claims Court State of New York on: August 09, 2012, 02:14:36 PM
ETA: Hrm. After talking with someone else... I take back everything I've read in this thread, assuming the BitMan is not a minor. If BitMan is a minor, I'd be willing to go splitsies on a notarized, co-signed, secured loan to him.

Kluge,

Have you been following this thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=83679.0

A number or Board Members have been bending over backwards to help this "kid" (if he is indeed under 18) out.  Two lenders passed on a loan with very favorable terms because the TheBitMan would not agree to some of their verification terms.  It was only after serious talk of a small claims that he has even agreed to make any payment.  And still no one has yet to see any funds back.

Waiting....

Current Rate this hour is 11.66.  I prefer payment as service but it is your choice.
2915  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: TheBitMint - Buy Bitcoins With PayPal on: August 08, 2012, 07:40:51 PM
Hold unclaimed funds for 30 days.
After 30 days remove unclaimed creditors from the settlement and recalculate percentages.
Then release unclaimed funds and future payment to existing, verified creditors.

If unclaimed creditors reappear they can deal the TheBitMan directly.

2918  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoinary.com - The new smart way to buy and sell Bitcoins. on: August 08, 2012, 02:00:51 PM
I think the point is that anytime an email has an href that is not from the domain or sub.domain of the identified sender there is a very real concern of phishing.  And even if bitcoinary is not holding bitcoin in your account, your emails could be spoofed to cause a user who recognized your brand to download malicious software which would then be used as a point of attach on that users other bitcoin connections that do store coin.

It is a valid security concern.

2919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recurring Payments with BTCs on: August 08, 2012, 01:39:35 PM
Two good points I think.

1.  The value would have to be in the local currency so the amount of BTC you are actually paying changes however the actual local fiat value remains relatively stable.
2.  Bitcoin subscriptions would have to be paid for that period in advance.

This type of payment plan is a plus for a consumer as you are only paying for services that you actually used in a given period and a minus for the retailer as you are not guaranteed a steady revenue stream from this type of subscription.

I'd be curious to know how that affects budgeting/financial planning in China.  If I'm a US cellular carrier or landlord I know i have x number of users paying y amount every z period, accounting for defaults and early termination I can project relatively realistic revenues for a period, (quarter, fiscal year). Maybe its not so different in a prepaid environment but I be curious to hear anyone experience.

If bitcoin it to become more widely used , retailers and merchants have to find greater benefits and cost savings in its use compared to how payments are currently handled and it will obviously have to be better at solving all of those problems.

2920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recurring Payments with BTCs on: August 08, 2012, 03:47:09 AM
Correct.  But you as the wallet owner control and choose to send those payments each month.  Currently credit card and bank based recurring payments are withdrawn  from your credit/bank account for you.  There is a big difference in terms of bitcoin being a business model and/or a reliable revenue stream for this type of payment.
