2901  Economy / Economics / Re: Indian Economy to grow at 11.5% in 2021 say IMF on: February 02, 2021, 07:16:34 AM
Indian seen growing by 11.5% in FY22; global outlook improves, say IMF in latest World Economic Outlook report.
       World Economic Outlook Reports
A Survey by the IMF staff usually published twice a year. It presents IMF staff economists' analyses of global economic development during the near and medium term. Chapters give an overview as well as more detailed analysis of the world economy; consider issues affecting industrial countries, developing countries, and economies in translation to the market; and address topics of pressing current interest. Annexes, boxes, charts, and an extensive statistical appendix augment the text.

      Is this possible?

I don't know if it's possible but I really hope it happens! The COVID has done grave damages around the world and India is no exception! While developed countries like US or Canada or Australia were able to provide with financial packages to their citizens, India couldn't do anything other than zoomla! So I am little doubtful that the recovery will reach 11.5% if 2022. However, as the markets have opened up, the economy is showing signs of recovery. That 11.5% is a speculation only!

Like whatever is happening around the world, happening in India too! Everywhere the economy is showing signs of recovery and the same is happening in India. The GST collection is reaching new heights, personal tax collection has also broke previous records, so things are coming back to normal. Let's hope we really achieve a sustainable growth!
2902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: recent negative statement against Bitcoin on: February 01, 2021, 06:41:32 PM
often occurs where when Bitcoin makes a new record (price) then immediately someone or groups feels threatened and makes a negative statement against Bitcoin.

Quote
A European Central Bank governing council member said bitcoin investors should be prepared to lose their entire investment, the latest such warning from a central banker about cryptocurrency volatility.

"As the UK authority said a few weeks ago, if people want to invest in bitcoin, they have to be prepared to lose all their money – that's certainly my view, " said Gabriel Makhlouf, a governing council member of the ECB, on Bloomberg TV on Friday.

She said bitcoin is not a currency, but is instead a "highly speculative asset which has conducted some funny business and some interesting and totally reprehensible money laundering activity."

a warning for those of you who feel threatened by Bitcoin --->  BTCITCOIN ARE UNSTOPPABLE

https://www.businessinsider.com/ecb-council-member-bitcoin-investors-may-lose-all-their-money-2021-1?amp&r=US&IR=T

Bitcoin is a currency system that eliminates the need of an intermediary. Banks act as an intermediary and that's their main business. So it's no surprise that banks are assuming a threat from cryptocurrencies. It's prominent like borad daylight! Banks will soon start with bigger campaigns against bitcoin around the world. Because if bitcoin gains major prominence, the need of having a bank will be eliminated! So their anger and worry is real!
2903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India makes ownership of Bitcoin criminal offense - How to respond? on: February 01, 2021, 03:16:25 PM
10 years? That seems to be overly extreme for merely owning an asset lol.

Anyway, if you're from India, you pretty much have 2 choices.

  • Simply sell it and wait for the illegalization to be lifted.
  • Sell your holdings that has ties to you(exchanges, etc), and though I'm not telling anyone to commit crime, people could still simply accept bitcoin through anonymous services and such and simply hold them through their non-custodial wallet. Of course, people should be really cautious as a simple mistake could get them caught.
  • Optional: move out of India lol.

Moving out of India permanently is the best choice anyone can make at this point if time! Canada and Portugal have opened their immigration channel so I think educated Indians can looks for these options. India is pretty much living under a dictatorship since 2014 where the freedom of speech is brutally killed by the government. The government is trying to poke their smelly nose on every personl matter of their citizen and even trying to sell off the agricultural sector to the corporates!

I think leaving India permanently is the best decision anyone can make, especially people with job experience and professional degrees.
2904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India makes ownership of Bitcoin criminal offense - How to respond? on: February 01, 2021, 06:16:08 AM
Don's panic! Nothing has been finalised yet. What we are seeing is that the crypto matter will be discussed in the upcoming parliament session. While it's most likely to be negative because majority of Indian politicians are uneducated and they simply don't want to understand what crypto is. However, Passing a law is one thing and enforcing it is another thing! If any country wants to achieve blanket ban on cryptos, internet will have to be stopped! So it is easier said than done! Just wait and watch!

I would agree with you on the voting matter! India needs to choose educated ministers. The current government is regressive in nature and sees everything new as a threat. That outlook can only be changed with education and young blood. I think India needs to choose young leaders more!
2905  Local / India / Re: India Banning Cryptos on: January 31, 2021, 03:26:57 PM
Crypto kanoon made this tweet today
https://twitter.com/cryptokanoon/status/1355202893901561860?s=20 according to this, Government of India is planning to out blanket ban on all crypto currencies.
Do you think this will happen? What should we do in such circumstances? Should we sell all out crypto?

It can very much happen! Especially with the current regressive government, it definitely can! That's why I have been saying - if the government doesn't show any interest on cryptos, we will be safe! The moment government starts looking into it, it will be a blanket ban only! That's what happens when uneducated persons and criminals make policy decision!

However, CryptoKanoon also tweeted this,

https://twitter.com/cryptokanoon/status/1355895598860255240

And that's true! It's difficult to enforce such law!
2906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi Nakamoto is Revealed Today, How Much it will Cost to Read ? on: January 31, 2021, 03:09:21 PM
Suppose an investigative Journalist unmask the elusive Bitcoin inventor today - How much he will he charge to read the Feature Breaking News of Satishi Nakamoto ?  I can spend US $3.60 dollars or up to US$5 Dollars. If 1million people read and pay then the investigative Journalist definitely will make a good profits. But it depends how much he already spent to find Satoshi Nakamoto ?  Who knows ? May be it will be free to read. If Satoshi revealing news really comes up today, it will go viral but there arises a question ?  Why Satoshi Nakamoto just don't give 100 Bitcoin to that greedy journalist, who is so obsessed to reveal the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto ?  I think some prominent bitcoin  community leaders do not want Satoshi's identity to be revealed. If the real Satoshi finally decides to reveal his own identity then it is solely up to him. What is your opinion ?

The news should be free to read! Because what Satoshi Nakamoto has created is free for all. Anyone is a laptop or computer could have mined bitcoin in its early days. he didn't mint money out of his own invention. So I don't think it is ethical for the journalist to charge against that news! However, he can always sell his story to the big corporate medias for millions.

Secondly, I personally don't want Satoshi to reveal himself. Once his real identity is revealed and verified, enforcement agencies from around the world will run to take him into their custody. I am sure he doesn't deserve such problems in his life! I strongly believe enforcement agencies have used CSW to lure Satoshi out from the crowd but that game plan failed. I think the best we can do is to enjoy bitcoin and not speak about Satoshi himself!
2907  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🦺 BK8.com 🦺 Asia Biggest and Most Trusted Brand 👛 BTC & USDT 👛 on: January 29, 2021, 05:04:20 PM
Welcome to the forum. I have couple of questions,

1. Your FAQ section of "Registration and Membership" area states below,

Quote
We are required to verify all of Our customers' identities to comply with the requirements of Our licences, Our responsibility to prevent underage gambling and to prevent crime.

Does that mean you will need KYC data from the users?

2  the "Settlement and Transactions" section states the below,

Quote
The maximum amount that can be won by one customer in any one day of betting is xxx or its equivalent in an accepted currency.

What does that mean? Can you please explain?
2908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joseph Stahura avoids jail for all the campaign funds he used for gambling. on: January 29, 2021, 01:18:08 PM
I think it is not fair spending 255.000 Us dollar public funds and get away with one year home probation and a 7500 Us dollar fine.It looks like the judge didn’t sentence him to jail because of his status as mayor. If the same judge would have been judging the same identical case with a normal person I am sure he would have asked a few years behind the bars.

I wondered if the fund is already his. Gambling(or taking big financial risk in this case) with public funds or funds not owned by the gambler isn't something that should be taken lightly. I would judge things differently and probably be a bit considerate if the risk affects him alone.

True! Also this misappropriation of public money should have been taken more seriously because this fellow is a Mayor! Those who are in charge of law, should be penalized even more severely if they break its provisions. So if a common citizen gets a jail term of 2 years for a crime, a law enforcement official should get 4 years of jail term for the same crime as a exemplary measure so that the trust of citizens on the law-and-order system remains intact!
2909  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At what point did you realise that Bitcoin was a failed project? on: January 29, 2021, 07:27:43 AM
Do you remember exactly when you realised Bitcoin had failed as a cryptocurrency. What was your thoughts around that epiphany.

What in your mind would it take to fix bitcoin, so its no longer too slow and expensive to use.

Is there any hope for Bitcoin, or have you given up on it?

Show me a single object/innovation/matter/technology that doesn't have flaws! I will then take your argument for further discussion! There is definitely rooms for improvement but that doesn't mean it has failed as a cryptocurrency!

Bitcoin is the first ever cryptocurrency created on the face of earth so it's a crime to think that bitcoin wouldn't have any flaws! If you think it is slow and expensive, please adopt Lightening Network and these issues will be solved for you!
2910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Arctic Circle - The northernmost mining farm in the world! on: January 28, 2021, 06:36:14 PM
Apart from the mining rigs, there are two main raw materials needed for bitcoin mining - cheap electricity and cold weather! I think the owner is doing it just right! Cheaper electricity is needed to maintain the profitability and cold weather is needed to maintain the efficiency of the mining rigs and avoid unexpected shutdowns!

I see someone mentioned about logistics, but that's an one time activity, not a regular one! So I don't think logistics is not a highly important parameter to consider here! Hopefully the owner of the mining firm has devoted time to eliminate these challenges already!
2911  Economy / Economics / Re: The GameStop drama and what does it mean for Bitcoin on: January 28, 2021, 05:16:59 PM
That GameStop stock drama showed that you dont have to be a whale to influence the price. The situation simply proved one more time, that the crowd with similar ideas, aims and a leader (or strategy) can achieve a lot.
As to Bitcoin, we have a lot of users, enough funds and unified goal, we only need little till mass adoption.

That's true but it is not really good for any market at all! A market which can be manipulated at will, is very dangerous for an average Joe! It is only profitable for those people are part of the strategy (or should I say conspiracy), but super dangerous for the rest.

In stock market, at least there is a method to halt trading but when it comes to crypto market, it can be compared with wild west only! In a general sense, price increase is good for HODLers, but a trader usually rides the wave and pumping may ruin his trading plans!

2913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whcih countries will be forthcoming on adopting Bitcoin on a natioanl level? on: January 28, 2021, 02:07:43 PM
With every passing day, we have been seeing more and more institutions and governments becoming forthcoming on the crypto scene. So, what do you think, which countries will take the adoption on a national scale and why?

Just to start with, you can check the below link,

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country_or_territory

It will give you a fair idea about the legal status if bitcoin worldwide. While few countries have come forward to create detailed regulatory framework for crypto usage, majority of them are still lacking a formal framework. So it is very difficult to say which country will join the bandwagon next!

I personally think a series of African countries will soon join the race of cryptocurrency by making it legal because it will benefit their economy directly and indirectly. Developed countries will take some time here!
2914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BIS Chief Blasts Bitcoin’s Viability, Prompting Blowback From Advocates on: January 28, 2021, 07:23:52 AM
Quote
The chief banker at the bank for central banks, Agustín Carstens, cast doubt on bitcoin’s long-term viability Wednesday, saying it was only a matter of time before a 51% attack brings down the world’s original cryptocurrency.
...“Above all, investors must be cognizant that Bitcoin may well break down altogether. Scarcity and cryptography alone do not suffice to guarantee exchange,” he said.
...
“So, clearly, if digital money is to exist, the central bank must play a pivotal role, guaranteeing the stability of value, ensuring the elasticity of the aggregate supply of such money, and overseeing the overall security of the system,” he said.
  https://www.coindesk.com/agustin-carstens-bitcoin

Perhaps he should (a) be more cognizant about what he is putting into his mouth (it isn't healthy) and (b) what is coming out of it when he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.   My suggestion would be that he read more prior to pontificating.

He clearly has a not-so hidden agenda.

Is it surprising in any way?? I don't think so! Like you have rightly said that "he clearly has a not-so hidden agenda"! He is a representative of the "Bank of international settlement" whose main job is to be an intermediary! Now bitcoin has exactly removed an intermediary from the existing payment system so it's no surprise that he will blast about bitcoin. Pretty evident, ah!

Sadly he doesn't have a reputation like Warren Buffet, otherwise we would have another opportunity to buy at dip! lol!
2915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DeFi Coins Boom as Crypto Market Recovers on: January 27, 2021, 05:37:54 PM
We are indeed seeing a great Defi boom right now! So it's a good place to make some quick buck if you are into regular or occasional trading. I ahd eared couple of Uniswap tokens through participating into their liquidity mining and their price is rising constantly since last week. It has posted around 300% increase in last 30 days!

I think this trend will continue for some time despite high competition. The more regulations will be added around the crypto market, the defi market will keep on booming due to its seamless and less confusing user experience. Let's hope for the best!
2916  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: WHAT happened to goosebet.io on: January 27, 2021, 04:55:23 PM
Hi everyone I am not sure if  I am posting this in the right place, if not could the moderators move it where is suppose to be please?

I am wondering if goosebet.io is a legit site as the mod and the only admin in telegram have gone missing for over a week now.

The email support is like a ghost town as nobody ever replies and there is not any kind of support and it looks like it doesn't have any sort of license.

If u check the telegram chat so many people are complaining about they withdrawn pending for day some weeks and nobody acknowledges the issues , yet the casino accept players and takes the money.

Can this site be reported somewhere and be stopped? or can their representative step up and solve the issues??

Any advice would be appreciated.

Well it seems like Goosebet has gone nuts and missing. Read the comments from the link below,

https://foxyrating.com/en/review-37957-goosebetio

It will give you the access to different opinions outside bitcointalk. While the status still says new but it seems that they have turned into scam quite quickly! So if you have pending withdrawals, goid luck with that!
2917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Newbie gambling sites on: January 27, 2021, 03:22:07 PM
I would like to deposit a small amount of Bitcoin for gambling purposes. I would like a few suggestions of websites that have you've used yourself and are trusted/safe to use for newbie gamblers?
Not interested in sport betting or anything similar, just something to try my luck and kill some time once in a while.

There are many websites and I don't want to sound like a promoter here. But here are the 3 websites that I have used in the past and didn't face any issue,

1. Bustabit
2. Fortunejack
3. Betcoin.ag

I know I am wearing the signature of betcoin.ag but in the past I have done for Fortunejack as well. But both fortunejack and Betcoin has their official representatives in this forum. So in case you need any support, they are just a text away. Which I consider as a big plus because sometimes things go wrong and you may need prompt aupport from the management. That's where they come handy!

Please note, I have written from my personal experience and you should not consider my experience while choosing your casino.
2918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High possibility major governments will BAN Bitcoin in the near future on: January 27, 2021, 01:35:39 PM
The major governments of the world have for some time been laying the groundwork for their own national cryptocurrencies. Does that matter? Yes, it matters a lot. Bitcoin will be a direct competitor.

How come?? A National digital currency and a decentralized cryptocurrency is Nowhere related! A National digital currency is is as good as cash in your pocket no matter what ever digital convenience it brings!

Why do they do this? To remain in financial control and to stop financial crime like whitewashing of funds from happening. Is it likely to happen? Yes, the US banned holding gold privately in the 1930's. So that the US government was to be a monopoly gold holder in the US.

Quote
There is a clear danger that the US, Europe, China, Japan and others will get togheter and flat out ban and even criminalize the usage and holding of Bitcoin. Resulting in after the ban, if you are cought using and holding BTC, you would get a huge fine or jail term.

The price of Bitcoin would get killed completely, you would be looking at Bitcoin below $1000.

How likely do YOU think this scenario is? Although you might say this is only speculation, IT IS A FACT that these countries are working on cryptocurrencies of their own.

There is a possibility that major governments may ban or criminalize the usage of cryptocurrency, especially bitcoin! However it is easier said than done! Cryptocurrency users can quickly move to privacy oriented coins if the need arises. So the enforcement agencies will have to find a needle in the haystack in the most literal sense.

Hi all,

Many thanks for all your suggestions. I have enabled the Huge Pages and my CPU is doing around 4 KH/s along with administrative privileges. However, as rightly pointed out by some of you, it is not enhancing the performance of my graphics card. Now I have one simple question,

Is there any way to enhance the performance of my graphics card to fetch Similar hashpower for monero mining like it did for ETH mining?
2920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spending Bitcoin (from Jacob Bernstein at the New York Times) on: January 26, 2021, 02:31:36 PM
Hi there.

My name is Jacob Bernstein and I'm a reporter with the New York Times, where I'm doing a piece about whether, as Bitcoin surges (at least until this week), many bitcoin enthusiasts/investors actually use t to pay for things, and if so, what.

By most accounts, this appears to be less common than keeping it as an investment vehicle. And this makes sense given that most people who have physical gold or stock in gold don't use it to pay for groceries. But given that one can potentially use bitcoin to buy certain things, including airline tickets, stuff in the xbox store, goods on overstock, etc, I would love to find some people who actually do and hear about their experiences (including whether this has gotten easier in recent years or not).

If this is you, and you would like to talk, I can be reached by email at Jacob.Bernstein@nytimes.com and at 212 529 6573.

Text is always best way to make an intro by phone.

Unfortunately, I have to do this by Monday, end of day, so anytime today or over the weekend would be great.

All best, JB

Hi Jacob,

Welcome to Bitcointalk! I understand you are trying to understand the user behavior and their experience while using bitcoin to purchase goods or services. While I don't prefer to identify myself but still can provide you some insights,

Please consider some factors as mentioned below. You will find mostly 4 types of people here -

1. Rich with bitcoin! These are the early adopters where bitcoin were priced at few cents
2. Moderately rich with bitcoin! These are the people who adopted bitcoin when its price was in 3 digits
3. Poor bitcoiners! These are the people with a fraction of bitcoin in the holding
4. Satoshi bitcoiners! These people usually hold few hundred Satoshis only and actively look for ways to make few extra satoshis!

The question you have in mind, should also consider the kind of people you will be interviewing. Because an early adopter may hold few thousand of bitcoin who might not have any issue in spending a little from his treasure trove. This statement may go well for the moderately rich bitcoiners who hold few hundreds of it and may be willing to spend a little for special purchases! These types of bitcoiners are extremely rare in number.

However, for the remaining 2 types of bitcoiners, it is extremely difficult to spend bitcoins for any purchases because they believe bitcoin may give them financial freedom in next few years! So these type of people always tries to save every last bit of it for a better future! Remember, these groups are the majority in number!

Earning a bitcoin has become extremely difficult nowadays! A miner can't even think of solo mining even with specialized hardwares! Due to such difficulties, bitcoin is largely considered as an investment rather than a currency! You probably will find some old timers here who would want to put forward bitcoin as a currency and he might tell you about his joyful experience of spending bitcoin, but remember that he might be having few hundreds if it in his cold storage.

For a commoner and a late adopter like me, bitcoin is extremely precious to spend because its extremely difficult to earn! So I would rather hold it for a better time than spending it!
