2901  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what is the best investment for the next halving? on: May 15, 2022, 07:00:02 AM
Sorry for being harsh here, but why invest if you're not willing to do the work and make the decisions yourself?
Oh, come on bro. OP is just a kid. I think that age thing should provide a soft landing for them. We as adults should do our part of pointing them in the right direction.

OP, my candid advice to you is to wait for the bear to subside. From the prism I see things, I believe the bear isn't anywhere close to ending. The next Bitcoin halving is in 2014. I've noticed a pattern that Bitcoin always dips further a year before the halving and then skyrockets a year after the halving. In essence, it will be better to wait out this 2022 and then buy in the last quarters of 2023 for a haul.

Avoid these websites for now, if you want to use Coingecko to check prices, make use of mobile devices until the problem is rectified.
This is one of the things that irks me about using PCs. It's very easy to get attacked and malware infection. This could be due to unlimited access to sites on PCs which are shrunk in phones for the sake of capacity. Users should be careful running sites on their devices. As a rule of thumb, I've a policy of saving relevant sites I visit on my homepage. I think that has been saving me a great deal from phishers.

Na true. My people dey call am elephantiasis of the scrotum. Na im be ibi 😆. As I read dis ur comment I come rememba wetin I talk some years ago here for down 👇

In addition, your post brings to the fore of a popular saying in my tribe, this I will loosely translate here - A man with a healthy penis doesn't know the travails of one with the elephantiasis of the scrotum.
2904  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I started investing in crypto 4 years ago but recently did I made profits on: May 15, 2022, 02:16:26 AM
Patience is the main key in investing
As vital as that's, yet it's the item most crypto traders and investors miss the most. They think only plants need time to grow and investments don't. The hurried investors who by their rationale think that crypto investment is a get rich quick scheme always regret not being patient on the long run. So many of the early adopters still bemoan not keeping Bitcoin till date after they prematurely sold their stash off 8-9 years ago. It's the same way some of us here today will regret it tomorrow.
2905  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: African Proverbs in Pidgin on: May 14, 2022, 12:56:19 PM
GiftedMAN and everyone wey dey drop proverbs here dey try, e no easy.

2906  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time for me to buy on: May 14, 2022, 07:10:22 AM
Despite no serious bull in the market for sometime,  I am thinking to buy more because the price at which bitcoin is right now I can be able to afford it. I planned buying when the price was at 40$
You probably meant $40k, right 🤔. In accounting, improper writing of numbers can cause a lot of damage and that's why we're advised to always end with "Only" whenever we write the numbers out in words. I'm yet to see where a cheque is signed without that inclusion of "only". Even if it's $500 million, it comes as $500 million only, and then it's $200; it comes as $200 only.

That said, now look at the time you wanted to buy before Bitcoin took another plunge; see it as a blessing to buy more unit at a discounted rate. This is the problem with many investors. We keep thinking the market can go down more and we procrastinate further until price springs a surprise on us and reverts with a spike. Anyone who has a spare cash they want to throw into Bitcoin has the right timing to do so now. That's my honest advice on this.
2907  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A single trading tool is not enough on: May 14, 2022, 05:15:31 AM
~snipped~
I think the EMA, stoch, and rsi indicators are enough
Well, I wouldn't solely rely on those three indis to take trades if I were you. Except you're a professional who has been profitable using them for a while now. Those indis are "lagging". They don't get you information of where price is heading until price gets there. You should be combining them with "leading" indis of support and resistance to get strong confirmations.

~snipped~
... the addition of two or three more indicators particularly EMA to indicate trend direction and RSI for price oversold and overbought is
In practical trading, you will realize that there isn't really a thing as oversold or overbought. If you rely on that to take trades, believe me you will get severely burnt. You may succeed a few times but eventually you will be dealt with by the market for believing such terms.
2908  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: African Proverbs in Pidgin on: May 14, 2022, 04:55:12 AM
@uchegod-21 African proverb no get only one interpretation or meaning, you feet get another interpretation while I get another one e feet no make sense or point to the direction wey you expect but look deep inside the talk you go understand well, proverb na words of elders no be something wey you no go reason well before you understand.
uchegod-21 dey perfectly correct for dat analysis and even with d example wey im throw take join am. I for still baff you as I baff am for ur attempt too, you try, but na my last bucket of wata I pour am so. Wetin you go talk for owa African proverbs be sey different proverbs fit mean one thing but nor be sey one proverb fit mean several things. No. As dem dey talk for Igbo sey different tribes get different ways wey dem dey take laugh. Na so d thing be.

I salute all of una wey dey continue to push dis owa corner here. Na real tight corner be dis. I believe sey d thing dey improve owa yarns with elderly people wey sabi proverbs too. Chinua Achebe sey proverb na d palm oil with which words are eaten, quote and unquote.
2909  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Educate and teach the youngins about Bitcoin. on: May 10, 2022, 11:52:44 AM
While I acknowledge that I understand your position and excitement on spreading the Bitcoin gospel while inculcating that in children, let me ruefully tell you that you shouldn't expect every kid to be eager to learn about Bitcoin. This world isn't completely autocratic, at least there are regions where democracy reigns supreme and people are allowed to make choices. Yes, I like everything about Bitcoin to catch on like wild fire but I know deep down in me that's not possible. For all we even know, Bitcoin may not be a dominating tech in a decade to come. Fine and good, Bitcoin's mention is virtually on the lips of finance and political gurus now. That may not be so in future.
2910  Other / Meta / Re: Help end this phase for Nigerians @Theymos on: May 10, 2022, 06:48:56 AM
I would recommend all Nigerians to keep bumping this thread, always making constructive comments, obviously, until you are granted the local board for being persistant. Those of us who are not Nigerians but support you in the cause will help you in this.
Thank you (and other non-Nigerians) for your word of encouragement on this demand of ours for a local board. We shall not relent or rest on our oars on this too. Honestly, this is going to be a win–win for this forum. Our contributions and involvements in the crypto space are immense. It's not a mere saying. There are statistics to show for that. I earnestly think the handlers of this forum should consider our plea as that will further enhance activities and businesses for this forum and the entire crypto community in general.
2911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a safe haven??? on: May 10, 2022, 06:00:45 AM
Your question is necessitated by the ongoing crash, no doubt. If Bitcoin were in an upward rally at this moment I'm sure such wouldn't cross your mind. Well, be rest assured that those who see Bitcoin as a Safe Haven aren't looking at the momentary crashes it goes through. It's a phoenix and they know it to always regain whatever it loses each time. For me, I see it as such too. What's happening in the market ATM is just a way of the market providing new investors another greater opportunity to get in. Yet, a great number of investors will be scared at this time to go all in.
2912  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why some promising newbies fail in the forum. on: May 10, 2022, 05:17:40 AM
I wouldn't say that anyone who failed to achieve a high rank or isn't progressing in their rank or simply left the forum has failed. This forum is not a career, it's a place to learn. Maybe a new user decided to learn from other sources, or they decided to stop being involved with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency altogether. Merit is not a measure of success, it's just a fake internet point.
Each of those sentences you made has wisdom embedded in it. Collectively, the wisdom in them should make a Solomon green with envy. Apt and spot on, were what my lips uttered. Your last sentence is a double bomb!

I guess the only reason users bemoan lack of merit is because it pushes them to rank up and get higher pay based on that. So, they think it's a kind of meritorious endorsement. Anyone who isn't getting their posts merited is judged a "not too good a poster" or not a constructive poster; and no one wants to be called a failure. Most campaign managers make the situation worse by demanding it as an enrollment requirement into their campaigns.
2913  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: He Lost His Investment. See what Happened! on: May 09, 2022, 11:29:40 PM
The take home from what happened to OP's friend should be never to believe anyone promising you a fixed ROI. Trading doesn't work that way. Except the supposed trader who is allegedly trading for you is grossly under paying you on investment. For instance someone can drastically reduce the ROI to around 2% – 5%, we can understand that to be sustainable. Sadly, people don't get enticed into investing on such low ROI, though this is more likely to succeed than higher ROI. So, they find a way to promise anything around 30% and above which can't be sustained. Except they resort to ponzi. They get more interested investors in and pay the old ones from newcomers' cash. Repeat the pattern and on and on. This doesn't last as it will crash once there aren't new investors coming in. This is what makes ponzi schemes crash. Anyway, I guess both OP and their friend learnt their lessons and adjusted their perspectives on trading.
2914  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A single trading tool is not enough on: May 09, 2022, 10:59:53 PM
~snipped~
which does simply shows that you would really be needing a couple or 3 or 4 depending on what you do need.
You're on point for seeking extra confirmation. There's every tendency that whenever two or three indis confirm the same direction, it gives a higher level of confidence to take a trade than when only one confirms. However, we've to be very careful loading our charts with indicators that we don't even get to use. That's my point. Traders who do that hardly get better results than those who use a few. The reason being that one could be missing out on trades because of conflicting signals from the so many indis on the chart. Whatever we do, it's better to keep it simple anyway.
2915  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A single trading tool is not enough on: May 09, 2022, 07:59:50 PM
A single trading tool is never enough to achieving trading success. However, clustering charts with indicators isn't the way out too. There should be a balance struck in relation to what works for one. Perhaps, two to three indicators should do the trick. Just like you OP, I equally like using Support and Resistance and enhanced by Trendlines and Pivots Points. All the mentioned are leading indicators and they should be giving an enviable winning rate.
2916  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My First Crypto Mistake on: May 09, 2022, 06:03:04 PM
~snipped~
My own mistake was not buying bitcoin when my girl friend told me, but I later regretted it when I was told in 2017 that I would have become a rich man had it been I bought bitcoin then.
I hope you kept her, well? If I weren't married before coming into crypto, I would keep or marry any lady who is finance savvy with domesticated character. That trait is rare, I know. Women aren't generally shrewd when it comes to business, so any woman seen in that regard should be treasured. BTW, you could still have done a DCA on Bitcoin even as far back as 2018 during its ignominious crash for someone who knew about Bitcoin pre–2017. Even now, it's still not too late to buy and hodl Bitcoin.
2917  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can Religion be Used as Coin Campaign? on: May 09, 2022, 02:14:26 PM
Biblical reference to coin was made by Jesus who made reference to the two sides of the Roman currency which contains the face of the Roman king.
The scene you alluded to here has nothing to do with investment. It was Jesus' way of showing the need for taxation in the system. Even as that is, most christians would rather tithe than pay tax to constituent authority. That's wrong, anyway. Answering your question, I don't think religion should be used as coin campaign. That will be mixing religion with business or economics. I've had cases where I stayed out of investments simply because owners tilted it with religion. My reason being that they will mess it up with emotion. Most people in religion are bias and will take decisions based on emotions instead of on fact.
2918  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Assumption on: May 09, 2022, 01:05:47 PM
Small time many criminals will be hunting for even a dead man's finger where he is buried, cemeteries wont have a peace night every day lol, before you know what's going on all fingers of the dead will be missing, it's a bad idea.
Funny dude 🤣. Well, that's not how that stuff works. Nobody will embark on such cadaver hunt. It's meaningless. You think a dead man's swollen fingers will retain the same prints as when he were alive? Nah! Just try logging into your phone if you've finger print lock on it when your finger is numb or wet and see what happens. You won't be able to gain access to it. Let alone when the person is dead and swollen. This is because the phone readings won't be able to recognize one's finger print as the original one which was entered owing to the fact that the structure of one's fingers would've changed.
2919  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can we get merit points? on: May 09, 2022, 11:25:59 AM
how can we get merit points ?  Smiley
Simply put – Write with the intention of teaching others or helping them solve a problem/question. That's my little way of accurately explaining the process of getting merit points. Just do that, and more likely that someone will read your posts and then appreciate that by meriting them.

no thanks. bitcoin is that bad in terms of privacy.
Oh, wow! Really, how bad is that? This is the craziest comment I've read or heard in 2022. If you said that about BTC, what will you then say about altcoins?
2920  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies: Stay away and avoid all bounties! on: May 09, 2022, 09:41:16 AM
the only difference in altcoins is that majority there are no doubt shitposter.
I think a good number of posters in bounty adopt the, "if you want to catch a monkey, you behave like a monkey" approach. That explains the laxity in constructive posting. Those who post there may believe no one is strict in checking what they post and so any type of post goes for them. The idea could be that they begin to think that since they aren't well compensated, why should they over burden themselves with meaningful posts then. I think spam posting in bounties is dependent on both the bounty teams and the bounty managers. If these two are serious to play their paths well, they should be mindful who they enrol and also do a followup with post checks. Anything outside that, bounty will continue to be populated with shitposters.
