1921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I now accept bitcoin payments in my Beauty shop on: December 31, 2022, 12:17:16 PM
The only challenge I face right now is 99% of our customers are female, and most do not have any prior knowledge of bitcoin or cryptocurrency, the ones who do either heard about bitcoin from their partner or social media campaigns but they haven’t given it much thought. It’s popular among the male folk here, I am yet to have a customer pay in bitcoin but it’s good enough to start the conversation.
With time, they will come around it and may likely embrace the option more than fiat. The concept behind the workings of Bitcoin is one enough to fascinate anyone. However, my worry in all these payment with Bitcoin thing is how likely are those who aren't Bitcoin hodlers going to continue to get Bitcoin for the sole purposes of making just payment without using it for basic trading and other stuff. I say this because of the volatility of Bitcoin and how $50 could easily become $20 within hours.

But i had to rephrase my question "people who once had at least 1 btc"
You're still making the same mistake. Why are you tagging it to one Bitcoin. Why don't you just ask if they own Bitcoin (sats) without attaching it to quantity. The way I reason this is like bestowing wisdom on a man simply because he's wealthy. So, you get to judge and accept what people say now and think it's correct based on the fact that they own 1 Bitcoin or once owned it? Do we treat people based on what they have or on who they're?
1923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have 1 bitcoin? on: December 31, 2022, 08:41:11 AM
Hello friends
Do you currently have at least 1 bitcoin?
No, I don't own one but I feel entitled to write on this. It's not even about having one "whole" Bitcoin that should be a focus for concern but the underlying interest in it. One could own one Bitcoin and sell off in panic tomorrow and decide not to back while there could be someone who owns bits but keeps DCA on it. Interest matters in all we do.

By the way, why is there any need to make owing one-Bitcoin a yardstick to those whose responses you seek? Are you discriminatory in real life?

Share your stories my friends, because each story is unique and interesting
You ought to have set the pace by sharing with us how you got into Bitcoin first 🙄

Notwithstanding, let me share mine. Though I've shared this story before here, I feel nostalgic each time I share it. I stumbled on Bitcoin on my own. No investment or whatsoever was attached to my encounter with Bitcoin. That was in 2016. I was listening to a  radio programme that morning and some dudes were talking about Bitcoin (it was the first time I heard of that name). What triggered my curiosity was when they mentioned the price if Bitcoin and how it was greater than a dollar. I think they put it at $750 per a Bitcoin and that wowed me. After the programme I searched Bitcoin on the net. Then I clicked on something that took me to a site with multiple other cryptocurrencies listed. I later got to know that was Coinmarketcap. I guess it was from that CMC site that I clicked a link to this forum. I didn't even know there was a potential to post and earn before then. Well, here we are today.

they'd still invest in a similar scheme yet again sometime in the future, you'd think that after their first loss and once they move on they'll learn their lesson that the crypto network isn't basically a get rich quick scheme, but they absolutely do not. These fraudsters would continue with this scamming cycle because they know they'll definitely allure investors, or rather victims.
Basically, I think one of the driving forces for investors repeatedly falling for similar scams has its root in one of the Nigerian local sayings which when loosely translated comes out as – No one can predict the pregnancy that will birth a king. Most investors have that mindset and believing that once one fails, one tries again. They're of the opinion that the first project might be a scam but the next isn't likely to be and that the risk is worth taking. I guess that's what keeps them going back to similar setup and getting scammed repeatedly. Another force is the type of crypto influencers one follows. If one blindly follows signal groups, that's what also happens because those in the group will tend to follow the calls made by the owner of the group without verifying it first.
1927  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cathie wood says 1 btc $1m by 2030 how possible? on: December 27, 2022, 07:58:47 PM
Her projection is mere FOMO, if you asked me. I know that no one is likely to deem it fit to complain about that because we all want Bitcoin to soar in price. However, if it were the other way round, a lot of people would call her hater for causing FUD. Now, about her projection; I don't see Bitcoin price getting to that price in 2030 as she mentioned. Bitcoin has two more halving circles to that time from now. I see Bitcoin hitting above $100k in the next halving coming up in 2024 and then we expect a bear season that will drop price until the next halving in 2028 where we can find price above $200k or may be $300k if all things go according to plans. So, how can that huge gap to $1m be achieved? Yeah, I know this is cryptos and anything can happen but I don't sincerely see $1m happening.

This new Christmas Shiba will definitely get naive and gullible people in crypto currency. They will start with is airdrop on Telegram and then promise its unlock date and possible ask for some gas fee to swap it.
I don't think there was any airdrop. They went straight to business and listed on Coingecko and started trading immediately on Pancakeswap a few days ago, precisely on Dec 22 from available data. Price took out four zeroes at ATH but is quickly declining now to six zeroes. The next we're going to observe will be no liquidity and that ends it. Investors will gnash their teeth in loss and pain and then move on. The fraudster will move to another project and the circle repeats itself continually.

These tokens are created by dev and supported by caller channels to enrich their pockets.
There's a dude from my country who prides himself on social media as the number one crypto influencer promoting that XShib token on his telegram pump group. Subscription to any of that dude's groups (he has several different groups with different packages and enticements) isn't chicken feed. You can't even get in with anything less than $500. This is why anyone who wants to safeguard their hard earned cash should steer off pump and dump groups. The pioneers of these groups and their friends are always the winners because they get to buy big first before announcing it to the ignorant subscribers.
1930  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Be aware of Santa Bitcoin, stay ahead. on: December 27, 2022, 05:11:39 PM
Those so-called giveaways happen all the time, not just during the holidays.
How strongly I detest the word, "Freebies" because I believe in the actual sense there's no free lunch anywhere on the globe. Something has to give, as they say. The principle should be for people not to be beggarly in their approach to things. When we look out for others to hand us freebies, it makes us lose our self worth. That's the way I see it anyway. I see a great deal of that often on social media

Btw don't feel bad cashing out (a little) just to treat yourself or family.
By the way, talking about "cashing out", let me quickly mention a token I saw recently called "Christmas Shiba (XShib)". What the heck is that? A token in that format will always be what it's. People are already skeptical with Shiba Inu and then another comes with a name bearing the moment. I think XShib will end up a shit token and those in charge will cash out big time.
1931  Economy / Reputation / Re: Members Asking For Neutral Trust To Be Removed on: December 27, 2022, 04:34:12 PM
~snipped~
If the same neutral tag says that the user makes a low-quality post just to meet objectives, it can influence the campaign managers' choices.
Fine and good.

However, what beggars explanation is why would a campaign manager accept a user who already had a neutral tag into their campaign but thereafter ask the user to find a way to get it removed? Why not reject the user in the first place? That's the supposed case with OP or that which I alluded to. If from the outset a user is rejected based on a tag, I don't think it will be much of an issue like what is being discussed now.
1932  Economy / Reputation / Re: Please save me. I can't anymore. on: December 27, 2022, 03:05:49 PM
Yahoo62278 gave you very good advice.
Yeah, he did a great job with that explanation by making it as simple as it could get. Yet, there are some who will still miss it.

Do not climb into other people's locales without knowing the local language and inciting hatred, for the sake of obtaining one merit.
For the life of me, I honestly don't understand why people do that. It won't be a crime to use Google translator to understand discussions going on in different locales other than one's (If one is that nosey, anyway) but to want to contribute in that discussion in pretence that one is actually from that locale is imposition that should be punished. I think there was a time we had a user barged into the Nigerian locale to act that way but was swiftly intercepted and they left. OP is doing so many things wrongly at the same time and seemingly doesn't realize it yet.
1933  Economy / Reputation / Re: Members Asking For Neutral Trust To Be Removed on: December 27, 2022, 12:30:36 PM
I think neutral tag doesn't prevent anyone from joining a campaign, rather it will help the hiring manager to make the right selection of users to be accepted.

...A neutral tag is neutral and should be treated as such.
I know I've read on Service sub-board where a manager was asking selected members to get their neutral tag issues resolved or get removed from a campaign they already were on. I don't know why a manager would do that or consider a neutral tag to be anything sinister because that's not the way the community saw it a few years ago. I don't know if things have changed now. Besides, I know of a member who runs loan services here and uses neutral tags for those he lends money to and not as something bad. So, would such a campaign manager then base their conclusion on all neutral tags being for a wrongdoing? But of course, no. Screening hunters out based on neutral tag is a wrong call.
1934  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading and investing, and still very broke.why? Is it spiritual? on: December 26, 2022, 08:34:54 PM
No supernatural force that opposes your success in cryptocurrency trading is to blame for your trading losses. Your ability to understand the market and implement a winning plan will determine how successful you are at trading cryptocurrencies.
Your first and last sentences as quoted here are what every trader should have at the back of their minds during the low moments. Otherwise, they're going to erroneously capitulate into spiritual manipulation. Failing people often find someone to blame for their failures and that's what I see happening with those who blame it on spiritual sort of thing. In a nutshell, there's nothing like spiritual manipulation in trade.
1935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi network mining on: December 26, 2022, 06:12:12 PM
Huobi just announced that they would support the Pi mainnet and are looking at the possibility of listing PI on their exchange. This news is quite unexpected, but it could be good news for those who are mining this token.
If at all I had any iota of trust for Huobi in the first place, this stance of theirs to support the elusive Pi thing would piss me off. That was how I got deceived in my crypto formative year (2017) to buy Swisscoin because Coinexchange which was a big exchange back in the day listed it only for us to discover it was merely used as a dump ground. It's the same thing I envisage with Huobi and Pi. It's going to be a dump ground if eventually it's listed there.
1936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The reason Dogecoin could fail in the future on: December 26, 2022, 03:49:36 PM
We must remember that Dogecoin is created for a meme, and one of the founders of Dogecoin, just did it for about a couple of hours.
This is the part that complicates things, especially for me. If Dogecoin was created as a memecoin but has continued to show relevance in the scheme of things, can't we embrace it for its relevance and utility then? Virtually every memecoins that came after dogecoin has bitten the dust but Doge is still standing and doing surprisedly well.

OP, if I ever had the type of conviction you have that Dogecoin won't do well in days to come, I would simply be taking a short on it with high leverage so I can cash out. It's that simple. So, would you pull the trigger?

1938  Other / Meta / Re: Avatar for another membership? on: December 26, 2022, 12:44:51 PM
Later add paying $8/month to get a blue tick also.
Now you're hitting Elon below the belt 😆

To say the least OP, I don't really know of what benefit the avatar is apart from adding beauty to the profile of the user wearing it and enables one to easily find posts from certain hunters one is looking for. Except an avatar is programmed to have a clickable link, I don't see its useful beyond the aesthetics I've mentioned above.
1939  Other / Meta / Re: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2023 to the forum on: December 26, 2022, 07:57:00 AM
Well, for those who make this period a big deal and celebrate it; I say felicitations! For those who've grown past the euphoria of this period and see it as a regular period like any other; I say happy savings! This period reminds me of what happens after the rains hit the ground; there's bound to be sunshine. After the euphoria, reality sets in. As for me, I'm just grateful for the gift of life. Hopefully, we all will cross over to 2023.
1940  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Accumulation phase is out!? on: December 25, 2022, 04:36:03 PM
I'm not a big fan of chart patterns. It's because I believe Bitcoin reacts in real time. For example, if Elon accepts Bitcoin for Tesla again, the price will skyrocket. On the other hand, if major investors announce their intention to sell Bitcoin, we may see a massive drop as a result of Panic. So how Bitcoin reacts is dependent on various of attributes. So, instead of relying on chart patterns, consider the real-time situation. Because the market is so volatile right now, it's difficult to predict the button.
If you observe it closely too you will discover that the real time situations are somehow inadvertently captured in the charts earlier before they happen. That's what signals leading indicators of pivot points and trendlines do. Sometimes such unannounced "real life" movements are captured in spikes and false buys or sells. That's when you find a solid buy position suddenly turns sell but doesn't linger on the sell for long before it goes back to buy. For me, charts are like compass to navigate the murky speculative water which is the major characteristic of this industry. I like looking at charts.
