2901  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The gambler who manages to beat the casino through cheating on: January 18, 2021, 01:58:07 AM
The MIT Blackjack team shouldn't be considered cheating at all.

Casinos are private properties so pit bosses can tell APs/card counters to back off, but nowhere does it say that it is illegal to use your intelligence and knowledge to gain an advantage at a casino game.
I would agree, card counting is not cheating if you are doing it with your mind, not to mention that they are a team. The reason that they hate this card counting players is because blackjack is one of the games that have the lowest house edge. It is within the rights of casinos to kick out this players and they are business establishment after all. The only that this will work is when you are doing your scheme at an irrational or sometimes random pattern, you sometimes lose but you still win more.
2902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why would anyone use a betting broker? Have you tried it? on: January 18, 2021, 01:23:52 AM
The reason might simply be, it is convenient. Betting takes your time away from other things that you can use to increase your cashflow. This is the first time that I have heard of betting brokers but I am familiar with this scheme because this is how stock brokers work too. The exception here is that, you really can lose your money because of other people, the bets they put might put you in a bad place. Although it looks good on paper, it is a bad thing for me, this can be used as a way to scam someone without knowing so, they can bet in their accounts in opposition to your account.
2903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Paquiao VS Connor McGreggor? on: January 18, 2021, 12:36:59 AM
To be honest I don't see this as an interesting match, because the outcome of this battle is easy to predict. It should have been so easy for
Manny Paquiao to beat Connor McGreggor, I agree this fight is only for the sake of making money. Although many say that Paquiao's old age
has made his boxing skills decrease and there is a chance that McGreggor can beat him. This is not true, because I believe Paquiao's ability is
still better than McGreggor.
You still have to watch it though, I am pretty curious what happens here because in his fight with Mayweather, McGregor does not get that much damage and the fight was ended in a TKO which is not that exciting. Pacquiao on the other hand have a lot of fights where bruises are definitely a guarantee so this one will be good. I was tired of this McGregor being clashed against boxers but the moment that I saw that he is the one that wants the challenge, I knew that he is a mad lad. Maybe next time, we should see some boxers try to fight McGregor in his octagon just to see the parallels.
2904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin dominance 70%? on: January 17, 2021, 04:18:21 AM
I don't worry about dominance too much. Bitcoin market cap vs Ethereum one or some specific coins might be worth checking every now and then but Bitcoin vs the total rest of shitcurrencies is not that important in my opinion.
What you should worry is whether you get a profit from selling your coins at a certain price point. I still haven't done any trading so I do not mind that the dominance goes whichever percentage. I do agree with bitcoin against the other shitcoins not that important because I see those shitcoins as leeches that mooches off the benefit when bitcoin prices go high.
2905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people seem to value 1 full BTC? on: January 17, 2021, 03:40:38 AM
Having 1 full bitcoin is far better because it has more value than fractional part of bitcoin, it can also buy more things. In a way it is a flex but more on a humble side like being proud of your hard work to reach to that point, think of it as a bragging rights.
2906  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Live Video platform alternative to Youtube on: January 16, 2021, 08:47:14 AM
~
Yes, that was an exclusive deal but I don't know the details about their contract and how long he's going to remain as a dlive partner or probably it has already ended.
Pewds is not a DLive partner anymore, rumor has it that the contract did not pass through, the partnership deal was around the time when Pewds was brimming with controversy and the N-word incident in Twitch is still a fresh wound. Good for him though that Youtube made him a partner as he is the biggest individual content creator there.
2907  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng back ups o storage ng Password on: January 16, 2021, 07:43:56 AM
Hindi naman nila kasalanan kung nakalimutan nila yung password, malay ba nila na magiging ganito kalaki yung bitcoin in the future. Sangayon ako tungkol sa pagkakaroon ng back up sa password pero sa tingin ko kung wala ka naman gaano kaimportanteng bagay online then okay lang na medyo loose ang security mo.
2908  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Calling iluvbitcoins....are you scamming me or what? on: January 16, 2021, 07:08:39 AM
iluvbitcoins's last login time January 15, 2021, 07:51:37 PM.

I hope everything turns out fine once he come online. Let's hope that he is physically and/or mentally well. Possibly he does not have any other channel to communicate who knows. There could be countless reason that we never can think of. I would be looking forward to hear a reasonable reason from him in the first place when he login and see this thread.

Your (The Pharmacist) frustration completely make sense to me by the way.
I hope that it will be the case that iluvbitcoins is just away from the forum. Besides, 100$ worth of bitcoin is not that worthy of getting swiped up, maybe that guy will pay. Never seen a high ranked getting this frustrated for awhile now. I hope that this will be resolved.
2909  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Vareole is a scammer on: January 16, 2021, 06:25:38 AM
I have tagged the account neutral for now with a reference link to this thread. Will wait to see what Vareole has to say regarding these accusations and the changing of addresses.

This is an instance of why I do not communicate trades off forum with users. PM's can't be edited once sent, and there is a particularly useful user who scrapes all posts for their original content so edits wouldn't matter.

~snip~
No one on DT has tagged the account yet, that's part of the reason. With a lot of the accounts being newbie they will get dismissed more often than not. This was an instance that I think showed at the least very questionable methods of finalizing an exchange.
Good thing that there is some compromise happening after all this debacle. I know about the DT part but wouldn't they be wary of the transaction in the first place, they made the transaction in this forum so they might as well ask some people on the right board about the one that they are having a transaction with. Pretty bad being a newbie in this platform, the concerns might be serious but if the scammer is smarter than you, you might get thrown down the gutter, understandably the forum also wants to prevent possible defamation of some veteran users.
2910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What we were dreaming, now is the reality! on: January 16, 2021, 04:57:23 AM
True, not long ago when everyone were selling bitcoin under panic due to bear market and threats from the government authorities there were few who stood against all the odds and didn't give up on Bitcoin, indeed this is a rewards for trusting bitcoin which they have reaped today but when we speak about dreams and discussion lole mass adoption, institutional investment, it still create concern in my mind because the more institutional investment gets into bitcoin the more power they achieve to manipulate the price.
The FUDs did work their magic on making people panic somehow but we still stood by and now here we are at the top. When the time that the bear comes back, FUDs will start pouring and we will still do the same as we did back then. Good thing about FUDs is that they keep bitcoin being a relevant topic which could catch an eye for someone that might want to invest and get their lives changed. We do not have to be a sycophant about what is happening though, the market is not perfect so we should know when to separate reality from the hype, no sense being in a bitcoin circlejerk.
2911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thats weird on: January 16, 2021, 04:23:51 AM
It's not. If you look at the addresses in the transaction, the first few addresses are unique and forms a sentence if you put them together. It's a typical advertisement spam. Some bots usually parse the addresses that were in the earlier Bitcoin block's coinbase and sends funds to them with a specially crafted address as a form of advertisment, in hopes that they are of sufficient interest and people would notice them. It's only indicative of something when funds are sent from the address, not when funds are sent to it.
That is a pretty crafty advertisement and that is the first time that I have heard of one. In my opinion, although it is a crafty one, I do not think that it is a good mass advertisement for their product or services because first of all, not many will notice and some of them might notice but never bat an eye and it will be another smaller percentage of people that are going to be genuinely interested.
2912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trust your gut on: January 16, 2021, 03:49:42 AM
Great post! I never tell anyone that is close to me that I owe BTC, or any other gambling for that matters. But hey, they only told you to sell because they care about you.
That is a good strategy, it keeps you away from people that will hinder you financially. I too do the same, the best thing to do is to not flaunt that you are dealing in bitcoin in your social media platform so that you are not in anyone's radar, the satisfying thing is there will be people that is not going to believe that you will ever succeed and then suddenly you are having a vacation somewhere that they want to go and then they will be talking to you about how you did it but you will not spill the secret, let them suffer about not knowing how you got that far ahead of them.
2913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sorry guys.. Bitcoin is not for our day-to-day transactions. on: January 16, 2021, 03:14:30 AM
Sorry but the majority of my transactions are for day-to-day transactions. Top of the list is food delivery (which is getting more frequent in these times), but I'm also now already able to get a lot of credit (paid for with Bitcoin) at almost all the stores I shop at. Cashback rocks.

That's not even counting the payments I make to people or to deposit for the things I do every day (sportsbetting for example). All in Bitcoin.

Sure, I still have to sell for the cash to pay most bills and other expenses. And granted, it'll continue to be the case for a while. But sorry, Bitcoin really is for my day-to-day.
You have a pretty good area surrounding you then, a lot of business accepting cryptocurrency payments is something. Although, I have to disagree with you, for me it is not a day to day if in general consensus because a lot of businesses are tied to banking institutions and small businesses do not want to gamble by getting into cryptocurrency as part of their daily transaction, maybe for some it can be like yours but for me on a practical standpoint I do not think so.
2914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Dying on: January 16, 2021, 02:32:42 AM
Hard to say that bitcoin is dying, even if we want to call it a currency, the limited amount of bitcoin in the world including the lost coins will not be enough to cater the global population for a daily transaction, you also have to consider that bitcoin is still volatile even at this current price rally which means that a cup of coffee that were priced around 0.00004 will change to 0.000045 in a matter of seconds which could spell a bookkeeping and transaction disaster for businesses.
2915  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Owner of Bitcoin Exchange Sentenced to Prison for Money Laundering on: January 16, 2021, 01:53:23 AM
10 years is a lot of time to be sentenced for a crime like this one but just think how many lives this man ruined.
He ruined the futures of many people for his own personal gains.   I agree with others who say 10 years doesn’t seem like enough years for what he did.
The reason that the sentence is shorter might be because of his cooperation to the authorities, that can sometimes help when you are on the prosecuted side, or maybe he got that sentence because he has back ups that are pulling the strings behind the curtain. If this was a fair trial, I think that the presiding judge thinks this is a fair sentence and we should not question that because the worst thing is a mob justice system that will surely lynch anyone.
2916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin is like planting trees on: January 15, 2021, 08:37:49 AM
We'll soon be forced to plant a thousand trees for every bitcoin to offset the carbon footprint...
50 to 80 percent of the world's oxygen comes from phytoplankton in the ocean, comparing that to trees I do not think we are putting our feet in the right direction when it comes to carbon footprint reduction. I have to agree with the analogy though, if you were to wait for another time then that time where you harvest the benefits will not come, invest even if there is risk, in the long run those same risks will the things that you will be thankful.
2917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks hope to issue their own "bitcoins" to fight BTC on: January 15, 2021, 07:51:12 AM
What a desperate and futile move to win back the people and big investors to use their dying currency, the problem is isn't about digitization but its unlimited supply. The ability to inject new paper money into the Fiat system, and some people has realized, that they're being cheated by banks. That's why Bitcoin is created to give financial freedom.
To be honest though, this is the lowest point in banking that I have ever witnessed. Imagine trying to fight fire with a spark, they will only be swallowed by the big fire called bitcoin. If the banks didn't always screwed over their clientele, I think this will pull off but at the current situation that more people are now aware that bankers are the only one getting the good life when doing business with them is a pretty bad spot for these greedy cronies. They thought that their archaic system would not backfire because they have an iron grip in a nation's economy, now the challenger is posing a threat.
2918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Change GOLD AS STORE OF VALUE? on: January 15, 2021, 07:15:33 AM
This method is impractical at the moment and the yield of gold that is produced is not enough to balance or profit from the operational cost, what we need is something that does not bombard the atoms to change the element, what we need is to create an artificial sun that can replicate the pressure to make massive quantities. This is a promising research and it has been happening for a long time now.
2919  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NYC renters owe landlords owe more then $1 Billion in unpaid rent on: January 15, 2021, 06:37:05 AM
In addition to the numbers franky1 posted, how many people are not paying because they don't have to?
No evictions, no penalties, etc. So you stick the money into a savings account and then sit on it making some interest till you have to pay.
And if something else bad does happen, then you have the money in the bank. Because you know the landlord isn't going to give it back.
-Dave
That is easy to say on paper but when it comes to reality, I think it will be different, think about the landlord's perspective, they need the rent paid because some of them are only relying on the rent as a source of income. The real problem is that the real estate bubble in USA is so big but any way to pop it does not seem to work because greedy real estate capitalist are benefiting from this crisis that might replicate the same crisis back in 2008, if the prices of land is lowered then the prices of rent will also lower but that seems impossible so we have to look for another solution and the best one is to increase the minimum wage with lower hours for labor but that is also impossible because lobbying is a business in USA. One thing is for sure though, the poor people in USA will be the one that will get hit the most and the middle class will replace those poor people sooner than ever.
2920  Economy / Economics / Re: Summary of Evidence of Covid as Engineered Financial Reset on: January 15, 2021, 05:53:14 AM
Frankly tired of seeing these garbage conspiracy theories on the virus being engineered for any reason, let alone something as nonsensical as a financial reset. The bitcoin community has enough trouble not appearing like a cult of crazies as it is, and having people associated with bitcoin constantly pushing trash like this doesn’t help us. This community needs to be better than to embrace this trash.
Me too, but we can't really dispel this shenanigans when we only work as an individual. It doesn't really matter if this is a engineered virus or a natural one, this only deviates us to the truth that our governments failed to do the necessary measures to prevent a pandemic in their country in the first place. Instead of focusing too much on obscure and baseless accusation, why not be kind to others and do something to contribute to the community.
